Forum Search, 'Help' menu & Owners Manual in Logic = Cool !

Just three simple advices : This forum has a great 'Search' function on top right of this page. If you fill in your problem keyword/s there, you'll surely find answers pretty fast, as very many issues have been dealt with in here already. In most cases a solution will also be there.
It's even faster to do such searching within Logic, as the application offers a really useful 'Help' menu bar. If you select the 'Logic Pro Reference' in there, typing in any keyword will produce immediate results, with even more related results if you want to get deeper into the matter. Plus you don't have to go online and wait for answers.
For those who like good literature, Logic's Owner's Manual is something you might want to take to bed with you when you leave your mac - read about the areas of interest and after a while you'll be able to sleep really well and healthy, while your subconsciousness will transform the read information into useful hints you'll be able to use in your next logic session

Help menu items not available Logic Pro 9

I think this problem occured after upgrading to Mavericks. When I use the help menu in LogicPro9 and click on the most relevant keywords that I have typed I am presented with a dialog that indicates: "The selected topic is currently unavailable. The topic you were trying to view could not be found."
I think this may be related to Spotlight not being indexed properly. After having problems re-indexing Spotlight I finally realised that in order for Spotlight to re-index correctly I had to add my permanently installed SD card to the Spotlight Privacy eclusion list. Instead of Spotlight taking 5+ hours to re-index a fast SSD it now did it in about 10mins.
I am now confident Spotlight has re-indexed successfully.
But the help menu items are still "unavailable"

I'm still putting this question out there to anyone who can help solve this problem. After trashing the Logic Pro9 App from the Finder>Applications I visited the Mac App Store and under the Purchases icon I re-installed Logic Pro9.
The Help menu is still returning:
"The topic you were trying to view could not be found." when clicking on the suggested returned results in relation to my search keywords.
I know there are better resources out there but I find it handy to use the help menu instead of reaching for a book or website/weblink.
Eventually I will switch to Logic Pro X but as Lennar Digital is still finalising their 64Bit version release of Sylenth (popular soft synth) I will wait until that is completed later in the year.

Matchcodes/Search Helps/Personal Lists

I want to limit the list of values in the Unit of Measure field (MEINS in table MEREQ3211GRID) a user sees when the are Creating a Purchase requisition (ME51N). I know how to do with with a personal list but I don't want to have every user have to create their own personal llist. I would like to have a default for all users.
I have hear about matchcodes and done some searching but I don't seem to find anything about how to actually create one and how to assign it to all users. My searching also indicated matchcodes have been replaced with searchhellps which has added to my confusion.

it was match codes in the good old times, now called search help since decades or do.

Not done in ten minutes, but pretty good documentation available with function module F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE.

Help menu "Search" box missing in Dreamweaver 5.5 for Mac

I've just upgraded from CS3 to CS5.5 on Mac OS 10.6.8 and am still finding my way around the new menus. The easiest way to find a menu command is usually to use the spotlight type "search" box that appears at the top of the help menu, which flags up exactly were each command is when you type in it's name. However, while the search box is there in my other CS5.5 applications it's missing from Dreamweaver. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
I have tried the obvious things like repairing permissions and rebooting and have also got Spotlight to re-index my hard disk in case the fault lay there, but it didn't help.
Just to clarify, here's how the help menu looks in Dreamweaver with the "search" box missing.
And here's how the "search" box appears in the other CS5.5 applications.

Bug in Search "Restrict by Forum or Category" Menu?

Regarding the Restrict by Forum or Category menu in the search function...
When in the Logic Pro forum, if I do a search having chosen "All Categories" from the menu, when my search results are returned the menu changes to "Logic Pro 7". However, if I select, say, ".Mac" from that menu, the menu stays on ".Mac".
Now, compare and contrast...
I just tested this same behavior out here in the Feedback forum and if "All Categories" is chosen, when the search results are returned, "All Categories" sticks. That's the behavior I expected when in the LP7 forum.

When I perform a search in any of those, the results page still displays All Categories for Restrict by Category or Forum:.

OSX help menu search not activating menu items in Photoshop CC

In Photoshop CS6, about 200 times a day I'd hit Command+Shift+/ to bring up the Help menu focused on the search field, just like I do in all of my apps. I'd type a couple letters from a menu item somewhere in the giant tangle of menu options, down arrow to the match, and hit Enter to action it.
I can still do this in Illustrator CC (and everywhere), but it's gone in Photoshop CC – it all works up to hitting Enter, which just closes the menu without actioning anything.
This is so much faster than mousing through the menu, so much more centralized and extensible than keyboard shortcuts. I miss it.

I've contacted Adobe twice, on Photoshop.com (1) and on their support forums (2), and their engineer, Chris Cox, is drawing a line in the sand. He says their team hasn't done anything to provoke this bug, and that it's an Apple issue. Further, he says he can't (or he won't) deal with Apple's engineering directly, and that we users should do so through these forums. So, here's my swing.

Naw, I got nothing, I didn't even have a search field. Like, empty space, nothing to be found... HOWEVER. I reinstalled PS CC and got the search field back, then changed my shortcut to ⌘⇧+ system wide, and bam.. it worked.
I'm happy.

Logical AND not working in the forum search box

Logical AND of search terms does not seem to be working in the MSDN forum search box. Example: I go to the Project Customization and Program forum and type the word
subproject
in the search box. I get a lot of hits. So now I try to reduce the number of hits by typing
subproject AND read
Surprisingly, I now get MORE hits than before. The same thing happens if I enter
subproject & read
Do the MSDN forums not support the standard logical AND combinations of search terms? If they do support these combinations, what is the syntax?

Creation of search help manually fro select-options

hi friends i got a requirement for creating the search helps manually for select-options.
but i am facing a progbalem.

I think Problem Lies In this Area When U r Creating   Search Helps.
Import and Export Parameters
When an input help is called, the entries that the user already made in the input template are taken into consideration. For example, if a user calls the input help for the flight number and already specified the carrier, of course only the numbers of flights of this carrier should be offered.
On the other hand, if the user selects one row of the hit list, more than one field of the input template might have to be filled with data from the selected row of the hit list. For example, if the flight number is obtained from the hit list, the city of departure and the destination should also be returned in the screen template.
The interface of a search help defines the context data that can be used in the input help and the data that can be returned in the input template.
A parameter of a search help can be classified as:
Import parameters: Parameters with which context information from the processed input template (screen) may be copied to the help process.
Export parameters: Parameters with which values from the hit list may be returned to the input template.
A parameter can simultaneously be an input and an export parameter. A search help can also contain parameters that are neither import nor export parameters. Such parameters could be required for the internal input help process, for example.
When you attach a search help, you must define where the import parameters of the search help get their values from and the fields in which the contents of the export parameters are returned. See also Value Transport for Input Helps.

Logical Database - PNPCE - Hide 'Org Structure' 'Search Help' etc buttons

Hi,
We have created a report by making a z copy of RCATS_APPROVE_ACTIVITIES. In the Z version we need to hide the buttons on the titlebar of the selection screen.
Buttons are
- Org Structure
- Search Help
- Dynamic Selection
- Selection Fields.
Can you please suggest if I can do something from the code ?

Thanks for your suggestion. However, there is no title bar method that we can modify to remove the buttons. I have created a Z report Category by copying the existing one and made the modifications.
In that we can hide/display UI elements which are displayed by Logical Database.

Search Help - logic for getting output.

Hi,
I am trying to create search help for Vendor number field. And input selection has a fields from various Vendor related tables ( LFA1,ADRC,LFB1,LFBK,LFBW,LFM1,LFZA).
If user enters any of the input field values (from the above table selected fields)then need to get corresponding vendor number details from all of the above tables(selected fields from the above tables).
can any one let me know how to compose the logic for this?
1. I created search help and trying to put the logic in EXIT for the search help to get the values.

Help menu search box missing

In every program, I'm missing the useful little search box in the help menu. This is what it looks like:
I first noticed this when I started up Brackets. My uptime was 14 days, and some programs were still working (like Terminal), but every new one I opened had this problem. I tried doing killall SystemUIServer, which didn't work, and restarting didn't fix it either. Clicking the highlighted portion closes the "Help" menu and highlights it until another menu is accessed.
I miss this!
Anyone know what I could do to get it back?

The QuickLook plugins I was talking about are QLColorCode, QLMarkdown, QLStephen, and Suspicious Package. I doubt any of them have much to do with it.
I've been using AppCleaner and Alfred forever, never Quicksilver. Alfred has one workflow that lets you search for actions in a program's menus, which boils down to an AppleScript. This provides most of the functionality of the help search bar, but causes some apps including Chrome and Photoshop to crash (for which accessing the Help menu makes them crash as well).
I also have Mountain Tweaks, and I think I had Onyx at some point. I prefer the one-line "defaults write..." commands, and I've done too many to keep track of, but they don't usually cause any damage... I think BetterTouchTool may be the culprit but I have no idea why this would persist after removal with AppCleaner unless it left some kext lying around, and I don't know too much about managing those.
The first thing I tried when I noticed this was to do "killall SystemUIServer" (which didn't work of course) and I still think an app interacting with SystemUIServer is causing this. If you don't use iStat Menus it's probably not responsible, although it does use menucracker to behave like a system menubar icon. I've had it for too long to really be suspicious.

Can't open any user manuals in FCS 2 from the help menu.

I just installed FCS 2 and I can't open any of the user manuals in any of FCS 2 apps. from the help menu. They are listed in the resources folder under the content folder so I know that they're there. Any ideas how to fix this?
