FR cell text question

Hi there,
I'm trying to add cell text into a FR report.
Right now, I'm adding a text row under each data row that utilizes the <<CellText()>> formula to display the cell text under each data cell.
I have two questions from this...
1) This seems like a fairly inefficient method if I have a lot of data rows/columns, is there an easier way to achieve what I am currently doing?
2) Assuming this is the only way, how do I suppress the entire data row if there is no cell text data for the whole data row? I've tried using all the basic suppression options, as well as some of the advanced options (ie. Value in Cell = No Data...)
Could anyone kindly offer some suggestions, much appreciated!

How to display Cell Text in Report?

Hello,
The users want to add cell text (comments) to their data for the controllers. The users are asked to enter their comments on a certain intersection of cells (e.ge. Total Year -> Plan -> Product unspecified). We want to display a report with the data and next to it the comments given.
One option is to print the webforms, but the result is terrible.
What options are there to accomplish this?

Hi,
Have you had a look at using BI Publisher Desktop to customise web forms as reports for printing.
For further information have a look the 9.3.1 planning admin documentation, page 213 "Customizing Reports", it is pretty easy to get a grip on and might just help formatting issues.
Otherwise Financial Reports may be another angle to start investigating.

Cell Text greyed out in Hyperion Menu of Excel

Hi all,
anybody has an idea why the Cell Text Menu is greyed out in Excel via Smart View when I am accessing my Essbase cube. When I am using the Excel Add-in I can edit the Cell Text.

We use Cell text (link related object) in our Essbase Cube where we pull data with Excel Addin and Hperion Financial Reports. So far our users are modifying the cell with Excel-Addin.
This means that Smart View cannot provide the option to modify cell text for Essbase analysis?

Is there a way to manage cell text in Hyp Planning?

Can I delete or copy all the cell text in Hyp Planning from the planning web front, i.e. without resorting to running SQL script to delete the records?

As far as I know (Planning version 9.2.0.3) there is no way to clear cell text (unless you using SQL script that running on the application RDBMS.
Regarding copy cell text, as administrator you can copy cell text from planning web using Administration>Copy data option, you can select copy data including cell text (for example; from version to other version).

Hyp 9.3 FR CellText - Suppress data blocks that don't contain Cell text

I'm creating a Financial Report that focuses on Data Blocks that contain Cell Text. The following function works when retreiving at a level one or higher Member for retrieving data.

The results of the function return the following:

Note the last line does not contain a Cell Text. This is due to the test group of data blocks has four populated data blocks and only three of the data blocks have cell text attached.
I would like to be able to filter the last data block that does not contain the cell text in order to increase the member levels in the various dimensions+

Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder. You may have to use your Admin password in order to move it.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your

Cell Text Annotations of Hyperion Planning on Hyperion Financial Reporting

Hello,
There is a business requirement to show Cell text entered as annotation on each cells in data form to be reported using Hyperion Financial Reporting.
Also there is a case of some of the data types being text. Some of the forms also have supporting details.
Now I want to check how easy or difficult is it to report from Hyperion Planning V11.1.2 for the above mentioned.
Are there any noticeable performance issues?
Is it possible to report the cell text annotations , Supporting details & Datatype 'Text' from data form on Financial Report?

I haven't used the text data type, however I have done quite a bit of reporting on supporting detail. All you have to do is use a Hyperion Planning data source instead of an Essbase data source. (and specify on the report to show supporting detail). In general, Hyperion Planning data sources are slightly slower than Essbase data sources. How much slower depends on a lot of factors, but supporting detail can certainly slow things down.
One key limitation with reports that display this type of data is that it doesn't "roll up" the hierarchies. Your report has to be at the same level (in all dimensions) where the supporting detail was entered. So you can't pick an upper level Entity and show all of the supporting detail for it's descendants unless your report also includes the descendants. I understand why this limitation exists, but I routinely have clients that would like this functionality. (For Example - Show me all of the supporting details for the entire plan.)

Double click on the text box and look in properties. There are many different options there including text wrap.
(of course I'm referring to a form field and not a bunch of text that was included in the original document)

CSS Class for Table Cell Text

When we were using messageStlyedText in a table region, it was shriking multiple whitespaces to a single whitespace. To solve the problem we are planning to use "rawText" with <pre> tag. But we are not able to specify the default CSS class for a table cell text. Can you please let us know the CSS class to use so that even if we use rawText UI(font, size etc) is similar to adjacent messageStlyedText columns ?
Note: We are not using formattedText because it is not allowing to add prompt.

Unable to load Cell Text (Memo A/c) from FDM to HFM..?

I am unable to load Cell Text (Memo a/c) from FDM to HFM. We use Import>validate>export function and use Upsload fucntion in the file to import the data. No errors are shown whilst loading the file and everything gets load except these Memo accounts The issue never arose when we were on version 11.1.1.3. We have recently migrated to 11.1.2.1. I have also checked Application Integration Settings where Cell Text is ticked as enabled.
Can someone help please..

Web Form Cell Text Length

We have web forms in HFM that users will export to Excel and then import back to HFM. We have modified settings in HFM to allow cell text length up to 8000 characters. However, when the users import the form back to HFM the cell text is truncated to only the first 70 characters. It is possible to enter the additional characters directly into HFM, but that defeats the purpose of exporting the forms to Excel. Is there another setting to allow the import to pass all the characters?

As per my knowledge if a cell text is larger then 70 characters in HFM and we export the form in EXCEL it gets truncated. Same is the case when we try uploading data form from EXCEL having cell text lager than 70 characters.
This a bug. Till now i have not received any solution for this.

Unable to extract HFM Cell text values i.e. Descriptions using ODI

We are trying to extract the HFM 'Cell Text' values, which is defined as "Description" in the "HFMData" store in ODI into an Oracle RDBMS table using ODI. We are using the KM - "LKM Hyperion Financial management Data to SQL" for this purpose.
We have followed every detail as defined in John goodwin's post at the below link:

I have the same error. And I found that the error appeared only with one specific HFM application (I my case). I can import any amount of data from other HFM Applications, but importing from the needed aplication causes the error, and also it crashes the HFM:
Faulting application HsvDataSource.exe, version 11.1.2.3505, faulting module HsvData.dll, version 11.1.2.3505, fault address 0x000000000013d6f4.HFM server even has no time to write message to a log.
It's strange behaviour: client can broke server.

How to load Cell Text (~8000 bytes) in HFM from a Flat File using FDMEE?

There are numerous posts on OTN describing how to load cell text using the Create Memo API. However, we are struggling to know how do we use FDMEE to load Cell text which is about 8000 bytes from a flat file?
Basically HFM gives us the flexibility to enter a Free-Form Cell Text with default size of 8000 bytes (which may be increased). However, when we try to manupilate FDMEE and load this to HFM, there is no place-holder/column in FDMEE Staging tables that has sufficient size to place such a long text. All the ATTR are not more than 20 bytes and UDx columns are only 75 bytes.
Has anyone faced a similar issue and built a workaround for this problem?

Copying cell text

Hi, I try to use VB.net to call API function setcelldescriptions for copying cell text. However an error message saying "Error occured while accessing the safe array". Do anybody know what's wrong? I have already followed the instructions in the HFM_objects.pdf like below. cData.SetCellDescriptions(laScenario, laYear, laPeriod, laEntity, laParent, laValue, laAccount, laICP, laCustom1, laCustom2, laCustom3, laCustom4, saCelltext) 

At one time, I wrote a vba application in excel to move and copy cell notes between scenarios. It was not difficult and you could do something similar allowing users to pick which notes to move to where you want them
