Frames with link to Struts do not render before mouse over in IE 7.0?

Hi
We have troubles with frames with link to Struts, which do not render before mouse over in IE 7.0? The application works fine with Firefox 2.0 and Internet Explorer 6.0, we have analyzed the cause to be whenever
you refer to a struts 1.0 action in your frames, you'll see the frames underneath.
Does anyone have a solution to this?

AIR application with Flex 4.5 will not render content. What gives?

OK,
So I've upgraded to Flash Builder 4.5 Premium and I am unable to develop desktop AIR applications with the 4.5 Flex SDK. I start by simply creating a brand new AIR application using the default SDK (Flex 4.5). I set the title property on WindowedApplication and include a simple Label component. The project compiles fine but when I run the application all I see is the adl window in the dock but that's it. If I modify the Main-app.xml file to set the visible attribute to true, I will get a small window but there is no content although the output window shows the application swf being loaded. Checking the release version of the Main-app.xml file shows the correct path location to the swf.
Here is what I've tried so far:
Install/reinstall Flash Builder, 4+ times
Downloaded the trial installation twice
Downloaded the SDK's for 3.6, 4.1 and 4.5.0. I then copied each SDK folder and merged the AIR 2.6 SDK with each copy. So now I have 6 SDK versions; one pristine and the other with the AIR 2.6 SDK merged. I then added each SDK individually and created an AIR desktop application for each. Each and every one works fine with the exception of the two 4.5 SDK's. They will not render content.
I created a simple creation complete handler for the application that declares a simple variable and assigns a value to it. I then put a break point on the assignment and it never gets caught. More evidence that the swf isn't getting loaded.
The computer I'm running on is a Mac Book Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.7. If I create a web project in each of the 6 SDK's, those will work just fine. What the heck is it with Flex 4.5 and the AIR 2.6 SDK on this machine? I have the AIR 2.6 runtime installed as well as a number of AIR applications that work just fine. I also tried my 4.5 test on my windows machine and that worked like a champ.
I am completely out of ideas. Finding information has been difficult because everyone is all about mobile so searching for desktop issues is a losing battle. I realize this is a long email but I'm desperate for help. There must be someone out there that knows more about the low level interaction between Flex 4.5/AIR 2.6 and the OS.

Well, I finally found the issue, a corrupted mm.cfg file in /Library/Application Support/Macromedia. I deleted the file and then adl ran just fine.

Frame in frame with graphics problem-or maybe not

Hi from Croatia.
Well I have and extremely demanding costumer that wants to control every single bit of the project.
The problem is as follows.
I have a book that every once in a wile has annotation which above and bellow has a graphic line (not simple line but complex graphic imported from illustrator.)
I tried to anchor one object above and another bellow this text which lets say stands in the middle of text frame and for me everything works ok.
But this demanding customer wants that those annotations are in separate frame so that he can have full control over them(?).
So I made frame in frame-put wrapping around this smaller frame.
The problem is- is it possible to put those graphics in this smaller frame, create text object and add it to library so that i can use it multiple times. I have more than hundred of those annotations.
And is it possible when i cut the text from this main frame to paste it in this smaller one and that this small frame automatically fills with text so that frame expands vertically according with amount of text. I am not placing text but pasting. I hope you have understood but in every case here is an example.

I tried to use 3 row table with header and footer, but the problem is that indesign does not allow tables to break when the part of table goes to another page.

Applescript Studio app crashes with link error (dyld) image not found

I've built a small Applescript studio app that works fine on the development machine but when I run it on other machines it crashes with a dyld error, specifically:

looks like you built the application in "Development" mode - switch the build style to "Deployment" and most probably things will be fine in the other machine.

TextEvent.LINK - is there a way to determine mouse over?

I'm using the following code in an app, but what I'd like to know is if there's a way to determine if a user mouses over the link. I would like to display a custom tooltip I've made when the user is mousing over a link, I've been looking for code that will accomplish this, i.e.:
myText.addEventListener(TextEvent.MOUSE_OVER, doAFunction); - but I'm not able to find anything associated with mousing over a text link, aside from using a stylesheet.
On the mousing over of a link, I want to determine if the event == httplink, a custom event I've created. If anyone could shed some light on how to accomplish this, I would be much obidged.

There is no direct way in AS3. However you can do this: when you roll over the TextField get the character index using getCharIndexAtPoint() method. Once you have that you can use it to examine if the mouse is over the hyperlink. There are several ways to do this but I think the easiest is to check the text formatting using getTextFormat() method - assuming you have specific format for hyperlinks (like different colour or underscore.)

Meta text not showing on mouse over

Certain sites (such as [http://xkcd.com/789/]) use meta text to add more information, etc. when you run the mouse over the picture. This feature isn't working for me.

Do those image have a title attribute?
Firefox only displays a tooltip with the ''title'' attribute and not with the ''alt'' attribute that is meant to show descriptive text in case the image can't be displayed.

Flex app doesnt not appear until mouse over?

I have a flex app embeded into a web page. It seems to work right in FF and Chrome but all the IE users it is just blank, and stays blank until you move the mouse over the blank spot where it is supposed to be...then it appears instantly. Does anyone have any clue why or how to fix this?

Adobe Updates not downloading - available but "try again later" error with link to "serial number not qualifying"

I just upgraded computers (PC w/Windows 8 64 bit) and I did a fresh install of my copy of Adobe Photoshop CS5 (along with Bridge and Camera Raw).
The install asked for serial numbers which I provided and the installation was a success - however, I can not view full resolution images, only thumbs
in Bridge and I can not open RAW files from my Canon 5D Mark III (though, I can my files with the older Canon 7D). I WAS able to view and work with
the newer RAW files on the older computer.
Under "Help", "Updates", it says they are available but after appearing to upload to my computers, I get this:

What gives? It was a qualifying product a few months back. Even if Adobe stopped supporting CS5 (???), I should still have access to past updates

Apparently, Adobe has very little interest in it's past customers unless they shell out more cash.
I have never seen such a move as this - to REMOVE support and older update links off the Web in an effort to force an upgrade.
My tech support stated (after first stating I was simply out of luck) that he was graciously allowed to make an exception and provided me with a link to support that is strangely
hidden and /or removed from public access.

Keyboard shortcuts not working while mouse over title-bar

most of the time, while mouse is over the top title bar, keyboard shortcuts (like Ctrl+W, Ctrl+T, Alt+D) are not working.
This is a strange behaviour that happens only after i migrated to linux (ubuntu 10.10)
Sometimes, after i try the shortcuts a few times, on middle of the screen also, then suddenly it works also when the mouse is on the title bar. It's pretty strange...

Well, that's not the case here.
I tried to focus on text field, and the keyboard shortcuts does work, so that's obviously not the case here.
Sometimes the address bar is selected and i can write there, but when the mouse go over the top title, it suddenly stops reacting.
And the Alt+D and Ctrl+T are not working doesn't matter if a text field is selected.
BTW, sometimes it does work, it almost seems like an intermittent problem.

Does Flash Engine supports "Mouse Over" events on an Android device with a mouse?

We built our custome Android on a Beagle Board. When we play a Flash content on WebKit, the flash does not respond to mouse over events.
When mouse pointer comes on an object with mouse over effect, nothing happends.
Can you confirm that there is Mouse Over support in Android 2.2 Flash Engine?

I am now also getting many words that are purple with two lines under them, and when you mouse over them, a new spamming window opens automatically trying to sell something. How do I turn this off?
I would appreciate any expediency in the return of an answer that you can provide.

The "MySearchDial" app needs to be removed in 4 places.
1) Go to "add / remove programs" in your windows control panel select mysearchdial and remove it.
2) Open your Firefox browser then click the Firefox tab at the top left and select options. You will need to change the start page settings back to your preferred start page.
3) Again under the Firefox tab select "add-ons". In the add-ons manager you will need to remove mysearchdial from both "plugins" and "extensions"
4) In your search bar (top right of address bar" use the drop down menu and select "manage search engines". You can restore your preferred search engine and remove mysearchdial from the menu.
This should remove all the components of the nuisance hijacker and restore your browser back to your preferred settings. If you are comfortable with a more in depth removal I would also suggest going to your "programs" folder within the "C" drive of your machine and deleting the "MySearchDial" folder altogether. However, only do this AFTER you have uninstalled it from your system and if you are familiar with this type of removal.

How do I fix problem with linked and cropped image frames not printing properly when spanning pages?

We are using InDesign (ID) to develop and print church bulletins which contain a combination of text frames and graphics. One of the graphic types we use are TIF files which are high-resolution scans of hymns.
A hymn usually has a combination of the musical score, plus the lyrics - with many verses., so the modular structure is 'staff' composed of a treble clef, followed by verses, followed by a base clef.
If the example above had 6 verses instead of one, we would crop the image by adjusting the frame, so that the treble clef and the desired verses showed through the frame.
We would then copy and link the frame - piggy back - adjusting the next content window etc....so we build a custom version of the music as a series of linked frames - each with the same base image, but a different frame position.
So this works fine, when we do this on a single page, but when we then add a 'last staff' at the top of the following page, we encounter print problems with some output devices.
Imagine a two-page spread, with a full page of music on the left, and the last staff (treble clef, verses, base clef) unit as a separately linked frame at the top of the right page of the spread.
It displays correctly, and will print individually as pages correctly, but when we print it as a booklet, the last frame drops out and we have blank space.
I can print the document to PDF and it works fine, but if I print it to a copier or laser printer I get drop out.
It is inconsistent.
Previews are always okay. Individual page prints are okay, but when you print the entire document, the last frame in this kind of linked series gets blanked.
If we create and name the image differently, and call it in as a new image - (not linked to the previous), but it is still a large image that is cropped to a small piece, then it doesn't print.
If we save the last frame as a different image type (take the TIFF file into photoshop, crop it and save it as a jpg - so it is only the 'snippet') and then import it, it works fine.
So my question to you InDesigners....is there some setting or tip or trick I need to know to be able to link a series of frames with the same base image, but different crops and make it span across two pages properly.
Or do we need to play this game of crop and trim the image so that it doesn't drop out?
Any thoughts, advice, direction would be gratefully received!

I did a lot of such hymn things in the past, but I was alway working on the scans in Photoshop, like adjusting, retouching spots and cropping. And I was always seperating those images to be more flexible so I never run into such a problem.
I am always scanning in a higher quality level than I would need, I scan it in color, this allows me to eliminate paper color easily, even if I need 1-bit images at the end, I do it in color, so I can also turn the image.
I did once run into a similar problem with a scan I have got from a copier-scanner machine (it was not a song). But saving as PSD resolved my problem.
So I would suggest: Open your files in Photoshop, resave them as PSD files and use those instead. If you use 1-bit images (which is fine for this type of images) you should use a resolution equal to the printer's resolution.

I can preview but not render? Black frames?

I've taken some footage from an HDV camcorder...I did some editing in Premiere, then imported the timeline into After Effects CS3 (latest version). I had no problems when I was working on time remapping and color correction...RAM previews worked fine.
Now, when I try to export to any format (Quick Time, AVI Uncompressed, image sequence), After Effects will render a few frames just fine, then render a few frames as nothing but black (except for the stuff that's not the HDV video). The footage is being interpreted correctly, and I've tried every combination of that and the fields settings when exporting.
I don't understand why I can RAM preview and scrub through the timeline and see every frame just fine, but After Effects cannot render it to file.
Anyone have any ideas? I worked for days on this project...
Since I can scrub the timeline, is there a way to write a script to make After Effects go frame by frame, wait for the comp preview to render, then export THAT image as a PNG or something, since I know that works?
I'll never try to edit HDV again without some sort of intermediate, but is there any way to save THIS project?

If this happens to anyone else, I found a workaround. It's slower than crap, but it works for now...until AE can deal with HDV footage better.
Like Mylenium said, trash multi-core rendering, that was an important step. On my quad core machine, I threw about 80% of the RAM to the cache, and had it render WITHOUT OpenGL as a PNG image sequence.
After Effects halted 5 or 6 times during the 4,000 frame render. It would usually have a bizarre error, then Windows would complain about virtual memory. I would just dismiss the error, reload AE, and begin rendering from the last good frame. It took a few hours, but I got all the frames, then rendered the image sequence to a movie.
Tedious and frustrating, but it worked. Hope this helps someone else in the future.
