Frequency at which compression should be done

Hello Experts,
I have a process chain running in production which is scheduled twice on a daily basis. The service report provided us a recommendation to compress the data in the cubes which are a part of this process chain.
I would like to know at what frequency /intervals should I compress the requests. As in should I go on for Monthly/Weekly compression or should I be going for a compression each time the load is run?
The data load pattern on a daily basis is :
1st data load :around 50K records are loaded
2nd data load :around 3L records are loaded
4 mins difference b/w the 2 loads.
Could someone kindly provide some basic guideline on which I can proceed on this.
I have checked the sdn posts but have not been able to get an answer on the frequency at which compression should be done.
Regards
Dipali

Dear Dipali,
Please have a look at below points.
. You can schedule compression as part of a process chain.
Compressing one request takes approximately 2.5 ms per data record.
With non-cumulative InfoCubes, compression has an additional effect on query performance. With non-cumulative InfoCubes, the marker for non-cumulatives is also updated. This means that less data has to be read for a non-cumulative query which reduces the response time.If you perform compression for a non-cumulative InfoCube, the compression time (including the time to update the markers) is about 5 ms per data record
So, Take an acount of this step to Compres the Data. Go for a weekly basis...and when the load times are not running....also u can schedule in Back Ground Job as well..
Also,
For performance reasons, and to save space on the memory, compress a request as soon as you have established that it is correct and is not to be removed from the InfoCube.
Hope this helps u...
Best Regards,
VVenkat..

  • Which Reports should be done in BI & which Reports in ECC/ABAP

    Hi,
We are implementing SAP ECC & BI in Laggard manner or near simultaneously. Now I as a BI consultant need to suggest which reports should be created in BI & which ones in ECC itself?
I understand that more aggregated, summarised or analytical sorts of reports, also those which need slice & dice & drilldown during navigation should be in BI.
But also apart from these points is there any thumb rules or fundas to decide??
Pl give me ur guidence generously...
    Regards,,,

It's look like your client first time using BI system, He might be aware or not aware of ECC.
It's happen mostly that when ECC & BI Immplemention happen simultiounsly, That time Client's as well as Project Management team concentration on ECC not on BW.
    1) You check on which Functional Modules reports client is expecting.
    2) Then check and install Standard Data flow and reports in your SandBox.
    3) Then show thease reports of respective module to your Functional team so they also be understand what is possible in BW or not possible.
    4) If your Functional team satisfy with the report's output. Then take training programe for user (Not everybody but few people from Client side). Once they understand how system is working then they will come with their requirement. There your job as Techo-Functional consultant "Can it is possible in BW side with respect to business logic?" there you are have decide.

  • Access Level of the workflow at which customizations should be done

Hi I want to make changes to the OM workflow processes. I want to create a copy of seeded workflow processes and make changes to them. I want to know the access level that I should set before making changes. The workflow processes come with a seeded access level of 20

    - In Workflow Builder, click Help/About
    - Change Access Level to 0
    - Check radio box for allow modifications of customized objects
Some of the seeded workflows were intended to be read only and you may need to copy/paste the process to a new one which will have your same access level.
    - Copy the existing process
    - Paste to Processes to create a new process
    - The new process will be created at your current access level
    - Make the desired modifications to the new process
Please consider Oracle support policy for customizing predefined workflows. For more information refer to Note: 97381.1 (Supported and Unsupported Customizations for Predefined Workflows).

Depends on how you want to use it. Flash storage on the newer macbook and macbook air are built in. A macbook air is the most light weight and a very good machine. It will do all you want it to do unless you are running some very intensive programs. If you go to the apple store on line you can compare  the different macbook pro" and macbook Air's.

  • CEN configuration should be done is which client?

Do I need to create most of the CEN and CCMS agent registration from Client 000?
The documentation isn't very clear on which client to create the registration of the CCMS agent and creating the CSMCONF Start file for CCMS agents.
I also created the CSMREG user under client 000, should it be created under any other clients??
I know the background dispatching in CEN needed to be setup in client 000, but after that the documentation doesn't mention anything about it.
    Thanks for your help.
    Stephane

    Hello Stephane,
CEN Configuration should be done with Client 000
In each case, activate background dispatching in client 000.
In each case, activate central system dispatching in client 000.

  • Which compression type

My SR11 will take SD video Once I import it, inspector shows it as Mpeg 2 740 x 480.
I have tried several different compression types and they all look OK, stills looked better than the video though in all cases. The color was much deeper and more vivid. (stills were from the same camera).
My question is which compression type should give me the best picture quality on export when the final product is a DVD burned with Toast 9?
I am trying the SD setting to save time and space for shooting home contents videos. There are some cuts, fade in and out to black, some titles and that is about it. Nothing too fancy. Would I get better results shooting in 1080i and importing as a large file instead of a full import, when compared to SD?
My camera is USB connect so I am trying to get this t work in iMovie 08, although I have imported the clips into iMoviehd6, but didn't see much difference. If it matters I am viewing the movies on a 37 inch Sharp Aquos LCD TV with a Sony Blu-ray player. So there is some upscaling going on. Neither unit is noted for great upscaling abilities in my research.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Did some more testing this afternoon. Recorded different subject for this test. A action figure, test pattern and a toy car going down a ramp. Zooming was done using the camera remote.
Recorded in SD best quality setting, recording to the SD card. Imported with iMovie 08.
Recorded in HD best quality. Imported to imovie 08 using large import.
Took 2 stills of same subjects and imported to iPhoto
The sd clips in iMovie events were MPEG 2 720x480
The HD clips were 960 x 540 AIC
Added title, fades and clips plus stills.
Exported as AIC current size. Both the SD & HD clips were now 960 x 540, so iMovie did some work on the SD clips.
Opened iMovie HD6 and repeated the same editing. Closed iMoviehd after saving each project, which were DV wide.
If I were to do an export from iMovie Hd the current size showed up as 869x480 in both cases?
Burnt a DVD with the iMovie 08 results and then a second DVD with the iMovie HD results. All burning was done to DVD RW using Toast 9 set to auto encoding. The iMovie HD6 dvd was done by dragging the project into toast. The DVD player was reset to output 480i.
In both cases the iMovie 08 movies looked better with the HD clips imported as large being the better.
So for my SD DVD run and gun burn a disk, looks like iMovie 08 using full HD source imported as large will yield the most bang for the buck.
Any thoughts about any settings that I could change to perhaps improve things a little more?

  • Multiple Apple ID's, which one should be main iCloud ID on iOS 5?

Hey!  Seems like iCloud is a bit more complex to setup than I had thought it would be.  Here's the situation.  I have two Apple ID's.  One is my @me.com account that I just migrated to iCloud.  Second Apple ID is an @gmail.com account that I use for all of my iTunes purchases (also migrated to iCloud.  I know you can have multiple Apple ID's setup in iOS (by means of "Mail, Contacts, Calenders"), but there is only room for one account under the "iCloud" tab/setting under iOS settings.  Which one should be used here?  My @me.com, or the one I use for iTunes purchases? ...or does it even matter?  Just want to set everything up optimally from the start so I don't have to go back later and correct something.
    Thanks all for your assistance!

Use iTunes to do a reset to factory default condition. Always be sure to do your backups before fiddling with your iPad. You might do both the iCloud and the iTunes backup, just to be sure!

keithfrommariettaOct 12, 2014 3:25 PM Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgrade
Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgradein response to pacoKAS
SOLVED:  IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX:  FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device.  Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now!  :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you.

  • Which laptop should I buy?

I am going to a boarding high school... I have a couple old macs and need a new one for school. Ideally about $1500 or less, a little over is okay. I should only use mail, safari, calendar, firstclass, a little photoshop, watch movies, skype, word, itunes, play some games (im not a big gamer, but maybe a little minecraft or something), dropbox, chrome. I'm okay if its a little slow or freezes occasionally, it just has to meet basic needs. Besides that - there is a chance I would install windows 8.
Should I buy an air or a pro? And with which configs? I don't think I want the 11' screen, but if anyone is in a similar situation, screen size reccomendation is helpful. Besides that - anyone reccomend a wireless kayboard, trackpad, or mouse? Maybe one of those thunder display things? Should I buy an apple drive? Basically besides computer adivce, I want accessory advice.
*Note: I know its under macbook discussion, thats because it made me pick a category*

For a savings of 15% to 30% look at the Refurbished Mac page. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/mac  They all come with the full year warranty and you can buy Apple Care for them.
Time Machine will work with any external hard drive. No need to pay the Apple premium.

  • Which solution should I adopt? Applet or Java Web Start?

    Hi,
I am developing a web application which should print cards through a printer in the client side.
I would like to use a web start aplication to execute JNI calls in client side, but I am considering a possible solution the use of an Applet aplication to execute that.
My question is "Which solution should I adopt?"
    Thanks a lot in advance.

I would go for Java Web Start, since it is:
    a wonderful tool
    easy to use
    gives you full control
you don't have to start your browser to print them cards
But wait for better qualified responses as I haven't written an applaet since school.

  • Which CPU should I use

    Hello,
our company want to buy new computers for the developers.
We have to use Windows XP as our OS because of third party products.
    We develop J2SE + J2EE.
    So my question:
    Which CPU should we use?
I searched at google but didn't found any usefull sides about benchmarking an J2SE VM or J2EE VM.
    Intel or AMD?
Are there some issues to be regarded?
Is the behavior of the VM different if you use an Intel or an AMD? (X86)
    Our AppServer is JBoss 3.2.3.
Has Intel ore AMD some magic improvements for the SUN Java VM?
    Any answer would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Oliver

    Olli_ger,
Thanks for asking. To add more to the question, what about dual- and
multi-processors, such as Opteron 2xx and 8xx processors?
That is, can, and to what extent, does the Java compiler and the JVM
utilize multi-processors? And how is this done? Threads parceled out?
Using what algorithms? Are there "best practices" for writing code
    that can exploit these chips?
Given the recent emergence of dual-core processors from both AMD and
Intel I would think Sun would have a white paper on this, but I've not
    been able to find anything.
As I'm about to build a new system, and am looking at a dual processor
board that could take two dual-core chips, I'd really like to know.
Thanks again for opening the issue.
