Friefox html form field issue

For some reason Firefox doesn't render html forms correctly. I have switched around my appearance recently and that might've caused it but since then I believe that I have tried switching everything back to how they were with no change. Other browsers show same pages just fine.
Following picture shows what is wrong. Firefox on the left and Rekonq on the right (Chrome and Konqueror behave the same).
I use up to date KDE.
Any help is appreciated.

Problem seems to be gtk-qt-engine related. Use my kde theme and manually setting qt4-theme won't work. But other gtk themes work just fine. Tried completely removing engine and re-installing, but didn't help.

  • Mysterious html form field?

    Whenever I build & run an application, there's a form
    field below the swf. It's either empty, or full of commas. This is
    on Safari, Mac OS X.
    Why is it there, and how can I not have it appear?
    I know I can manually make a new html page and embed the swf
    and have no problem, ut often I'd like to just choose "run".

    Analyze the html wrapper that is generated. Probably some
    field that is supposed to be invisible is not.
    You can then modify the index.template.html file to fix it.

  • Merging Documents - Fill in Form Fields Issue

    I have a customer that is using Acrobat Professional 11.0
    Here are the details - can she do this using the merge documents together function rather than having to do the documents separately?
    When using the merge documents together function, form fields that are left to be filled in (date and time is when example), do not stay as fields once the PDF is created - they are now be populated with a number/letter combination (example:  28T)
    This does not occur when the documents are converted to PDF's separately.
    This functionality worked fine with the merge documents together feature in Acrobat Professional 10.  What changed from one iteration of the software to the next?
    What is the fix for this?
    Please advise.

    In short, you will need Acrobat to create the forms. They only need the free Reader to fill them in and save them.

  • Data in .jsp or HTML form fields, to a JAVA File and DB

    Hi,
    I am new to the JAX-RS, I have a form where I fill in some details, There is a submit button towards the bottom of that form, when I click submit, it needs to do two actions:
    1) Pass the data in different fields through different variables to into a JAVA file. I am not sure on how to call a JAVA file or program's method from either .HTML or .JSP
    2) Extract the data from the fields and populate a DB through JDBC Connection
    Your help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,

  • Problem populating html form fields with data from database.

    I'm using a straight forward piece of code to populate a form with data from a database, to create and 'edit record' page. The code is as follows;
    TO RETREVE THE DATA FROM THE DATABASE;
         $query = "SELECT * FROM $table WHERE newsletter_id = '$newsletter_id'" ;
         mysql_select_db($database) ;
         $result = mysql_query($query, $connect);
         $numRows = mysql_num_rows($result);
         $dbnewsletter_title = mysql_result($result,$i,'newsletter_title');
    TO POPULATE THE FORM FEILD;
    <tr>
              <td width="140"><p class="admin">Newsletter title</p></td>
              <td><input name="newsletter_title" type="text" <? print "value=$dbnewsletter_title";}?> /></td>
            </tr>
    However, when I view the page, the string shows in the text feild, but seems to be split at the point of the first space. So basically only the first word of the string shows in the text field. If I try to print '$dbnewsletter_title' outside of the table, the string is shown in full as it should be.
    Does anyone know what is causing this problem?
    Many Thanks

    Put the value in quotes:
    <?php print "value='$dbnewsletter_title'"; ?>

  • Converting HTML Forms to PDF - Field Names

    When I use Adobe 8 to convert and HTML form to PDF all the field names in the resulting PDF have the crazy long names that are jumble of letters and numbers. So I always have to go back through and manually rename every field because I'm using another program to autopopulate the fields with data. Is there any way to get Acrobat to automatically name the fields in the PDF the same as they are named in the form either using the "name" or "id" properties of the HTML fields? I don't understand why this isn't the default behaviour to begin with.

    The reason this is done is due to a fundamental difference between HTML forms and Acrobat forms. In HTML forms, fields with the same name do not necessarily share the same value, whereas in Acrobat forms they do.
    In the conversion process, Acrobat gives each field a unique name, but also sets a field's mapping name to the name the field had in the original HTML form. This is so that if the PDF form is used to submit as "HTML", then the original field names will be used and any server process that is capable of dealing with the HTML form is capable of dealing with the resulting PDF form. So be aware that if you want to use your modified form to submit to a web server using the "HTML" format, the new field names that you set will not be used. What will be used are the hidden mapping names.
    Unfortunately, I don't think there's anything you can do about any of this to make it work like you want.

  • Render html form & send forms's input values as params via HTTP POST

    Hello,
    I'm using appache commons http client to send HTTP post queries to a given url and receive HTTP response then process it.
    one of the requirements of my Application is the following: one of these HTTP Post requests is supposed to return an HTML form with different html types (text filed, text area etc..) that i will need to display in my swing application. one important requirement is that i can't know in advance what the html form field types will be.. it depends on a given parameters that my application send as part of HTTP Post method (using apache http client).
    I Longly searched for a simple solution to this problem . There are many solutions but each one has it's limitations :
    1-i can render the html form inside a JEditorPane .but how can I collect the user entered data inside JEditorPane ? i'm not sure this swing component offers the capability to detect its html contents and more it will be difficult to know what are the values entered by user inside html form rendered by JEditorPane.
    2-are there any Java Embedded browsers that offer some API to enable me detect the html form fields ,capture the data entered by user inside the html form ?
    3-the solution i currently opted for is : parse html & convert html form to swing dialog. currently this solution i use works well but the cost of implementing it is high : it involves difficult parsing logic. this makes me worried .I'm not sure if i'm now using the right & easiest solution.
    I need some advice on What is the simplest and clean solution to render a html form & yet be able to collect user entered inputs & send the user input values as params via java HTTP POST request ?

    dragzul wrote:
    In my opinion, your actual solution is what you need to do. You're trying to "merge" two different kinds of view. Actually, the "easiest" way may be: if you have your data to display, you decide to show it on html or swing.Yes i believe that my current solution may be the unique one for my special requirements. when doing research about this problem i found a multitude of java libraries to convert xml to swing (ex: www.swixml.org) .However i was surprised there are no java libraries to convert HTML forms to swing dialogs -as far as i know-. this is a bit strange. The Limitation is that the developers of the server API are not Java guys and are reluctant to use an xml format that i can easily convert to swing . probably they have their own reasons as they might be using the HTML Response for some other server side work. So I was obliged to deal with an HTML stream that i need to display in my client application and process its data. in my opinion the only way to do this is by developing a HTML form to swing converter package. that's what i did now. i was only worried if i'm complicating things and if there are some easier solutions to this issue.

  • How to retrieve data from the HTML form in the JEditorPane?

    I could quite easily use JEditorPane to render and display a simple HTML file.
    My HTML looks like this:
    <html>
    <head>
    <title> simple form</title>
    </head>
    <body bgcolor="cccccc">
    <center><h1>SURVEY THING</h1>
    </center>
    <form id="survey">
    <p>1.Type something in.</p>
    <textarea cols=25 rows=8>
    </textarea>
    <BR>
    <p>2.Pick ONLY one.</p>
    <input type="radio" name="thing" value="0" Checked> NO choice <BR>
    <input type="radio" name="thing" value="1"> First choice <BR>
    <input type="radio" name="thing" value="2"> Second choice
    <BR>
    <p>3.Pick all you like.</p>
    <input type="checkbox" name="stuff" value="A"> A <BR>
    <input type="checkbox" name="stuff" value="B"> B <BR>
    <input type="checkbox" name="stuff" value="C"> C <BR>
    <input type="submit" value="give data">
    <input type="reset" value="do clensing">
    </form>
    </body>
    </html>
    It gets diplayed fine and I can type in text, select radio buttons (they behave mutualy-exclusive,
    as they should) and check checkboxes.
    The problem I have is with retrieving the values which were entered into the form.
    If I, after editing, try to write the html to the file using HTMLWriter,
    it records the changes I made into the textarea, however all the radio and checkbox selections are lost.
    Maybe the problem is that when I enter the values I do not use any methods like
    insertBeforeStart and so on, but I believe I shouldn't need to use them to populate a form.
    Especially I never change the structure of the HTML.
    Also, when I try to traverse the Element tree and see the input elements attributes,
    I can never see a change in the entered values. However it is probably b/c I am traversing through
    the model and the changes are in the view (just a guess.)
    Anyway, if anybody could direct me onto the right path: how to retrieve the values typed in the form,
    or if it is possible at all in the JEditorPane, I would greatly appreciate.
    thanks

  • HTML form to clob

    Hi all i have an oracle 9i database.
    One of the application is used to store data given through standard HTML forms (not oracle forms). These are stored in varchar2 fields and all works fine.
    However we now have a new request that would require one of the HTML form fields to contain more then the 4,000 character limit of varchar2.
    I tried using same application exactly, simply changed database table field from varchar2 to clob. However while the other table fields are being populated normally, the clob field remains empty.
    Can anyone help
    James.

    I found a work-around as could not find a way to directly insert a CLOB, but i managed to update a CLOB field.
    Hence I only solved this problem by using first the html form to insert new record (except for the CLOB field) and then use a javascript code to update record with CLOB data.

  • Html 5 charset issue

    We have an application using html5. The server returns an accepted charset of utf-8. On the page is the following meta-tag: <meta charset="utf-8">.
    When inputting "special"characters (é, è, à, etc) and submitting the form, firefox translates this to these characters: éÃ. Further examination tells us that these are utf-8 representations of the iso-8859-1 values for the given characters. (we are using firefox on windows)
    When putting the accept-charset on the html-form, the issue is solved. However when reading the html5 spec, it seems to me that firefox should interpret either the server response or the meta-tag and submit the content as utf-8.
    We have the same issue in chrome, however in IE it seems to work.

    Hello,
    Can you please confirm the following
    #The file is saved with UTF-8 encoding
    #Are the pages getting served by server side scripting (PHP etc) or is it a HTML+JS single page application
    #Is it possible for you to provide a sample of the <meta> tag you are using
    Like you mentioned, if you did provide the charset in the meta tag, it is not required to set the charset for the form (provided the charset is the same), but the browser should be able to identify the charset properly.
    Can you please check these links to see if having the charset within the first 512/1024 bytes of the page is causing this issue

  • Tabbing issues - form fields and HTML links

    I have a few HTML links in the top of a page with a form starting half way down the page. When using the tab order, I am able to specify tab order no problem in the form fields but when previewing or using the PDF and tabbing through, the tab order gets thrown out of wack and jumps up to the HTML links from tab order, 1 -2 HTML - HTML - 3- 4- so on...  I am unable to scpecify a tab order for the HTML links as it gives no option. I have tried to send the text field to a back layer but it does nothing. Is there anything I can do to correct this?

    For many people submit by e-mail can never work, because their PC is
    not set up to send email. For example, countless millions use only
    Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo or similar.
    It's also possible you set options (like "submit whole PDF") that
    don't work with the free Reader.
    It's best to think of "submit by e-mail" as something to help you in
    the prototyping before moving on to a proper web-based solution.

  • 2 Formatting issues with HTML forms

    I have a couple of issues that we can't seem to get past with adobe livecycle designer 7.0. We have an internal form, rendered in HTML, that is emailed between departments, and the data entered is stored in an XML file that is created using the code similar to the following:
    protected void doPost(HttpServletRequest request,
    HttpServletResponse response) throws
    ServletException, IOException
    oOutput = response.getOutputStream();
    try {
    FormServerWithXML fsb = new FormServerWithXML();
    fsb.processForm(request);
    File file = File.createTempFile("Form_", ".tmp", new
    File("d:\\xmlFiles"));
    BufferedWriter(new FileWriter(file));
    out.write(fsb.getXMLString());
    out.close();
    When we use a numeric field and try to format it with any display pattern containing dollar signs, decimals, etc... the xml data for that field isn't being written to the xml file. All of the other fields are being written properly.
    The next issue we're having is that with HTML forms, when we create a multiline text field we are unable to limit the number of characters that are allowed in the field.
    I'm pretty new with this, so please send some advice my way if you have any.
    Thanks,
    Chad

  • Populating a html form with fields from a database

    Ok, basically ive got fields in a db, for example:
    name
    decription
    time
    weather
    mood
    Ive got a html form that also has these fields.
    When the user clicks a button the homepage of the site, it should bring up a form in a popup window that has all the fields in based on the entries in the database - lets pretend there is only 1 entry in the database, so the form will be the same for every user.
    Any ideas how i could do this?
    BTW I'm using jsp and mysql as db.
    Thx peeps

    Hi,
    Are all the fields from the same table? if so you can construct a class say Test.java with the follwing attributes.
    <code>
    public string m_strName=null;
    get and set methods
    </code>
    You can repeat for all the fields in the DB. If you have primary key for the table you can set the ID of the class as the primary key. so in your JSP you get the class with ID (whichever you wish to) and use the class in the JSP like this
    <code>
    Test test = JDBCAccess.get("ID of the table");
    <%=test.getName();%>
    </code>
    This is an example of OR(object relational mapping).
    Hope this helps.
    thanks

  • Help...  Populate pdf form fields with html form inputs.

    I have a website that allows users to choose the pdf document they want and create. After selecting which pdf they want to create they are redirected to a web page with a html form. The html form has questions that corresponds with the the form fields of the pdf document the user selected. When submitted the code (ASP, PHP whatever is the easier) runs a script that populates the pdf document form fields. The user is then prompted if they want to save or open the document. The newly created pdfs and the user inputs do not need to be saved on the server.
    I create the pdf templates using PDF 6.0 professional
    Server can be windows or linux
    I understand ASP a little but will use whatever is feasible
    Purchasing a program is okay as long as its reasonable and is changeable by me and I have full control.
    Any help would be appreciated...
    Thanks,
    John

  • How to strip HTML out of the form field but leave the basic user formatting?

    What would you recommend to automatically strip out HTML that a user has entered into a form field? At the same time we need to preserve the basic formatting that was submitted by the users  i.e. replace <p> tags with CRLF, etc. StripHTML function is perfect but it removes all HTML and therefore, all formatting. Is there anything more flexible?
    Thanks!

    Do you need to strip it, or just render it inoperable.
    The latter can be done with the htmlEditFormat() and htmlCodeFormat() functions.
    If you want the striping, take a look at related functions at the http://www.cflib.org site.   I know I have seen HTML replace functions that had the ability to be configured to strip and|or not strip a select list of tags.
    StripHTML() may actually have this feature (I believe it is hosted at cflib.org).  You may just need to see the documentation on how to configure it thus.
