FSRM report limits using PowerShell

I am following this article:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/filecab/archive/2014/05/20/set-fsrm-storage-report-limits-using-powershell.aspx
I did have this working just fine, but after installing Windows Updates today on a 2012 R2 box this functionality breaks the GUI. Now, any time you try to edit a report you are hit with Event ID 0, 'file server resource manager value is not valid' and a
GUI error of 'Unexpected Error. Value of 1000 is not valid for 'Value'. 'Value' should be between 'Minimum' and 'Maximum'.
The report still runs, but you cannot view in the GUI until you again use PowerShell to decrease the limits back to default.
Any ideas on how to fix? (Other than removing the updates) Seems a recent Windows Update has broken this.

The Windows Update version is the latest available. So if you have a 2012 R2 server and install every available update, that's the level I'm at. It was a recent update that seems to have broken this, I just don't know which one.
The parameter was already set to 1,000 and was working fine. The default is 100, and any value greater than 100 now produces the GUI error.
Newly created reports also produce the same error. I stress that the reports do still run with the value of 1,000 set by PowerShell, it's just the GUI that does not recognise the values set by PowerShell.
Looks like a bug in a recent Windows Update.

    In the GUI im able to create a Global Condition (condition type: Expression) where I can add a clause that Limits the deployment type of an application to certain operating Systems (useful for deploying 64-bit apps).

  • How to suppress extra form feed for character report printing using ORARRP?

    Dear All,
    We are using Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.2) on Windows 2003 Server and most of our client PC's are Windows XP Professional machines. We are migrating our existing oracle application from 2-tier architecture to 3-tier architecture (6i to 10g). We have installed ORARRP utility for remote direct printing and to a limited extent we are successfull in getting the things work out for our system users, However, we are facing a problem using the ORARRP utility for which we are not able to find a solution till date.
    We have configured ORARRP utility on every user's PC and the printing of bitmap reports is working well. However, while printing CHARACTER reports using ORARRP utility, after the report gets printed, an EXTRA FORM FEED is issued by ORARRP to the printer and because of this the printer stationary skips one extra page and advances to the next page. Please note that this EXTRA FORM FEED happens only while printing a CHARACTER REPORT.
    Has anyone come across such a problem using ORARRP ? How can we avoid this extra FORM FEED from CHARACTER REPORT printing using ORARRP ? Is there any other tool which supports remote direct printing just like ORARRP?
    I shall be highly obliged if anyone could reply to my queries ASAP.
    Regards,
    KrishnaKumar S

    Please help ! I tried the "send_form_feed" and "postscript_dos_print" parameters without success. The extra form feed is always there. Thanks.

  • Custom List Form creation using Powershell - SharePoint 2013

    Hi,
    I have a custom List called 'IssuesList' with 4 fields - "IssueTitle","IssueID","IssueDesc","Status"
    While displaying display form I should show 3 fields expect Issue ID i.e. IssueID should be hidden.
    and on edit form only Status field should be editable. So using SharePoint designer I created respective Edit form and display forms and changed XSLT to control the display mode on the fields.
    I have everything scripted in powershell till now - creation of custom list, publishing pages, webparts etc. however I am looking for how to provision or associate these 2 list forms with IssuesList after I create the list in new site.
    I have restrictions on using wsp and site/list template due to business needs. So I need to know if there is any way I can upload these 2 files after I create custom list in powershell and associate them as defaultdisplay and defauteditforms?
    Please advise.

    Hi,
    Per my understanding, you might need to apply these custom forms to a list after list creation using PowerShell.
    With PowerShell with SharePoint Object Model, we can hide fields on list forms.
    The similar thread below with code snippet will provide more information about this:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/ee6fc2eb-197f-4144-94fa-8a4e438675d9/hide-a-field-from-edit-form-list?forum=sharepointgeneralprevious
    If there may be other requirements except for hiding fields, as you have limitation on using custom solution package(which should be preferable in such scenario),
    a workaround I can provide is that, after list creation, you can add Content Editor Web Part contains the CSS style or JavaScript to the form pages of a specific list, it will help you hide/disable the specific elements, this can be achieved programmatically.
    The code below can add a Content Editor Web Part to the DisplayForm of a list(though in C#):
    public static void AddCEWP()
    SPLimitedWebPartManager manager = null;
    SPFile file = null;
    using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://sp"))
    using (SPWeb web = site.RootWeb)
    try
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;
    file = web.GetFile(web.Url + "/Lists/List018/DispForm.aspx");
    manager = file.GetLimitedWebPartManager(PersonalizationScope.Shared);
    ContentEditorWebPart webPart = new ContentEditorWebPart();
    XmlDocument xmlDoc = new XmlDocument();
    XmlElement xmlElement = xmlDoc.CreateElement("HtmlContent");
    //xmlElement.InnerText = "<strong>Hello World!</strong>";
    //write the custom CSS style or JavaScript here
    string content = "<style>your custom style here...</style>";
    xmlElement.InnerText = content;
    webPart.Content = xmlElement;
    manager.AddWebPart(webPart, "Top", 0);
    manager.SaveChanges(webPart);
    web.Update();
    catch (Exception ex)
    //Utility.SPTraceLogError(ex);
    finally
    if (manager != null)
    manager.Dispose();
    web.AllowUnsafeUpdates = false;

  • Request for sample reports developed using report designer

    Hi All,
    Request for sample reports developed using report designer.
    Thanks

    Ramesh,
    right now there really is no way to solve what you are looking for.  There partial solutions, but you will not be able to force a page break in a dynamic report.
    Here is what I have faced, and what I have come up with so far:
    I have a series of reports that have the same column heading, but spread over 5 pages in a fixed structure.  I need to be able to re-use the header and the general report design with 6 reports.  Here is my solution:
    1. Create an outline of the report.  I did all the formatting by creating a report section for each page.  You can force page breaks between the pages.  Upgrade to patch 1502 (came out last week) and you will see some new functionality (such as fit to page, page numbers, etc).
    2. Insert all you page breaks and do all the formatting.
    3. Insert an infoprovider.  Once in, you can just drag and drop the key figure cells into your formatted report.
    4. Create additional modification for formatting as needed.
    This fixes my problem (for now), but I had to do a lot of work to come up with this.  Also, the latest patch (1501 and 1502) has created an issue for me - there is a null exception when I try to use a variable or a filter value in the report body - I can't save the report.  I have an OSS message out, but our BASIS guys are going to be taking the lead on troubleshooting this.
    The reason that you are seeing some customers on the new pages is probably because of "how the cookie falls" - they just fit that way.
    I am trying to be positive and overcome the limitations that are in place right now. If my technical issue is solved, I would recommend upgrading to the new patch (1403 is the latest stable one in my opinion)
    good luck
    Pavel

  • Set storage quota on multiple mailboxes using PowerShell?

    I need to set storage quota limits on multiple mailboxes using PowerShell. I understand I can create a .csv file with aliases and pipe that into a cmdlet, eg.,
    Import-CSV "C:\temp\alias.csv" | % {Set-Mailbox -identity $_.alias -IssueWarningQuota 900mb -ProhibitSendQuota 950mb -ProhibitSendReceiveQuota 1gb -UseDatabaseQuotaDefaults $false
    Is there any other way of doing this with a much more robust script?
    Any help would be much appreciated.

A: Set storage quota on multiple mailboxes using PowerShell?

Hi,
Is there any special attribute for these multiple mailboxes? such as they are from a specific OU or a distribution group etc.
If there is, we can direct use the filter to pick out these mailboxes instead of create .csv file for them. The following example can set storage quota for mailboxes in a distrobution group Group1:
Get-DistributionGroupMember -Identity Group1 | ForEach{ Set-Mailbox -identity $_.Name -IssueWarningQuota 900mb -ProhibitSendQuota 950mb -ProhibitSendReceiveQuota 1gb -UseDatabaseQuotaDefaults $false}
The following example is used to set storage quota for mailboxes from Exchange Department:
Get-Recipient | Where-Object {$_.Department -eq 'Exchange'} | ForEach{ Set-Mailbox -identity $_.Name -IssueWarningQuota 900mb -ProhibitSendQuota 950mb -ProhibitSendReceiveQuota 1gb -UseDatabaseQuotaDefaults $false}

  • Using PowerShell to add VBA to an Excel spreadsheet

    I have a PowerShell script that creates an Excel spreadsheet and is able to save it.  I also have VBA code that I would like to put into that newly created spreadsheet.
    Is there a way of adding the VBA code into my newly created spreadsheet using PowerShell?
    Thanks,

    Thanks for the response Alex,
    Where I use to work, we would commonly do this with VBScript and Excel 2003.   Below is an example from the Scripting Repository using VBScript (Add a Macro
    to an Excel Spreadsheet)
    Set objExcel = CreateObject("Excel.Application")
    objExcel.Visible = True
    objExcel.DisplayAlerts = False
    Set objWorkbook = objExcel.Workbooks.Open("C:\scripts\test.xls")
    Set xlmodule = objworkbook.VBProject.VBComponents.Add(1)
    strCode = _
    "sub test()" & vbCr & _
    " msgbox ""Inside the macro"" " & vbCr & _
    "end sub"
    xlmodule.CodeModule.AddFromString strCode
    objWorkbook.SaveAs "c:\scripts\test.xls"
    objExcel.Quit
    We would use a variant of this method to generate static Excel reports from spreadsheets that were linked to external data sources.
    Now...  it's time for me to upgrade my code and get on the PowerShell boat :)  So I have been working on a script that does a similar thing, but there does not appear to be a method of adding a macro to an Excel spreadsheet using PowerShell.  There
    appears to be no way of calling VBProject.VBComponents.Add from within PowerShell.
    I have tried manipulating the data that resides within Excel by directly accessing it from PowerShell, but this has proven to be painfully slow.  What a macro can do in 3 seconds, takes PowerShell 8 hours to do :(
    If it can't be done... then I'll have to revert back to my old ways.  But if it can be done, great!!!  PowerShell has alot more to offer me than VBScript did.

  • Get Remote Desktop access logs using PowerShell

    How to find all login/Logout/Reconnect and other log information from a remote computer using powershell
    This should also include from which client/machine (including which account) that connection has established.
    may be more in brief, like a RDP historical log, i.e., who all logged and performed what from startdate to enddate.
    Suresh Kumar Udatha.

    You would have to write a script to remotely query the Event log for all logon types required.  You would also need to write custom record data extractors for each log message type.
    I recommend starting in the Gallery and looking for scripts that query the windows event logs.  THis will show you the basics of event log reporting using PowerShell.
    What you are asking is a very large project.  The records you need are different fro different OSs.  Pre-Vista uses the old format and event IDs. Vista and later use a newer format.
    Security log performing is a specialized industry.  There are many companies that produce tools to do this.  I recommend looking into purchasing this tool.
    It can be written in PowerShell. I have written many event log extraction scripts.  It will take you quites some time to do as many record types as you aare asking for.

  • FSRM reporting

    Dear all,
    I have file server with a dedicated disk for user data. There is a root folder called HOME and then all the sub-folders are dedicated to each user. Also I have created
    a Quota Template with a hard quota of 10GB and this is applied to all these folders.
    However I have come across a recent error were some users get the following message when they try to save to their user folder, the message is:
    “There is not enough space on…”
    The strange thing is the user has not exceeded their quota limit and furthermore when I look in the FSRM management console and locate the affected user the “% Used”
    shows that they have over 100% used.
    I have tried the following:
    Removed the quota template from the user and re-added to no effect
    Can anyone help with this issue? It looks like a bug with the FSRM reporting?

    Hi,
    Generally if it is caused by FSRM (like files are deleted but not re-calculated), it will be fixed with recreating quota settings.
    Could you confirm if user exceeded the quota limit? Sometimes the size of a folder will not be displayed correctly when we do not have permission to read a part of files inside.

    Hi, i just want to ask if anybody has experiences with the limits of Crystal Report ?Is there anything Crystal Report can't handle?  I hope you can give me some answers Good night...kind regardsre4p3r

    Yuen,
        Keep a couple things in mind when processing that many records.
    -Don't use sub reports.  They will slow you down big time. Instead, do everything in the query. Use materialized queries with "With" statements, temporary tables, sub queries, etc.  If you don't understand how to do this, work with your DBA or learn it.
    -Don't use the Detail section.  My understanding of the Detail section is that it requires bringing in ALL the records, whereas Grouping can be done on the server.  Make sure you select the proper options in Report Options ("Grouping on Server", etc) and then "group" your way down to the details of your report.
    -Use a data warehouse if you have one.
    -As for limits in Crystal, I'd like to see nested sub reporting and the ability to dynamically change the properties of a text box, line, etc. through code.
