Hi,
If you are just doing it for testing then you can also go for NFS mode in your File Adapter which will allow you to pick and drop the file on your XI servier directory. The directory can be seen by using the tcode AL11.
But if you have any specific reason to use FTP adapter then you can go ahead and as suggested above you can find the ip address.
Probably if you go through this link before configuring your adapter then it will help you a lot..

How can I find out the server port for a secured FTP site and creating a FTP Connection Manager
I have to create a FTP Task to go out and get the files that our 3rd party vendor will be dropping on a secured FTP site. I have all the credentials to access that Secured FTP Site and have successfully done so through FileZilla.
Now I need to set-up a FTP Task to go out and get their files and in so doing create a FTP Connection Manager. Is there any way I can determine the
Server Port number from the Secured FTP site? I let it default to 21 and tried the Test Connect and it failed.
Thanks for your review and am hopeful for a reply.Hi ITBobbyP,
SSIS has a built in FTP task, while this only works for the FTP protocol, it doesn’t support SFTP. But there are some free clients like WinSCP and
SSIS SFTP Task Control Flow Component
available in the CodePlex which can invoked from SSIS.

PI 7.1 using FTPS as File Sender Adapter: Problem connecting to Server!
Hi
We are using SAP PI 7.1 and I am trying to connect to an FTPS Server, but always get the following Error in the log: "Channel FileReceiver: Error connecting to ftp server 'hostname': com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: The control connection to the FTP server hostname timed out while reading the server reply."
I checked all the parameters and they seem to be ok! When I am using the same parameters with a WS_FTP Client Tool on the same server, I can establish the connection! Hostname, Port, User, Pass, etc must be ok ... I also imported the CA Certificate into the "TrustedCAs" KeyStore ...
We also checked if on FTPS Server side we can see anything in the logfiles, but it seems that PI (Fiel Adapter) does not send anything to the FTPS Server. On OS Level we see that a TCP Connection is established tho the Server on the correct Port and we also used a tool to analize if data is sent over the established connection, but there was no data :-o
Can anybody help me?
Thanks
ChristophHi Pavan
Access rights are ok ... how do I check if my PI Sysem supports FTPS? We have installed the crypto extensions and I also can select the FTPS Option on the file adapter. Is there anything else that must be enabled or configured?

FTP Adapter is unable to connect to server
Hi All,
I am using the FTPAdapter in my BPEL process and trying to connect the FTP server which is running in my VMware linux machine. I am able to connect to the FTP server successfully from my windows machine and I am able to get and put the files. But my log says that it's unable to connect to FTP server. I see the following message in domain.log file
+<FTP Adapter::Inbound> Poller raising Alert for exception : ORABPEL-11438+
Error in establishing connection to FTP Server.
Unable to establish connection to server.
Please ensure hostname and port specified to login to the server is correct.
Please help me to connect the FTP server successfully from my BPEL process.
Thank you.Linux usually has ftp disabled, try using ssh
if you are on 10.1.3.3 this has been enabled.
I would tend to do all my modification in the Enterprise Manger console, not the xml as you are able to get more meaning around the filed names and what they are used for.
To enable ssh you need to perform the following
change the port to 22
set ssh encryption = true
cheers

Change Port on "Connect to Server"
Basically in a nutshell, I can' connect to my server no problem, and login, but all my files have the permission set to "read-only".
I contacted my server host and they told me to login through the "Connect to Server" diolog box using the credentials of the root user. That did not work. I went back and told them that and they told me it may be an issue of it trying to connect on Port 22, rather then Port 21 and to come to the Apple forums and ask how to fix that. They unfortunately only provide support for windows related questions.
So here I am... anyone have any ideas?This is how I am connecting.
ftp://[email protected]//[email protected]
When I do that, it works. But all the files are only read-only.
I am in talks with my server admin right now, he has some sgguestions. I will keep this post updated. -
I need help authenticating my outgoing server settings in setting up my work email on my Galaxy S5. It says unable to authenticate or connect to server and I even called helpdesk at my email support and they tried every possible port (80, 25, 3535 or 465 SSL) and none of them work. Please help!
You will need to get the required info to create/access the account with an email client from your school.
Are you currently accessing the account with an email client on your computer - if you have a Mac with the Mail.app, or if you have a PC with Outlook Express, etc.? If so, you can get the required account settings there. -
I am trying to read mails from my outlook microsoft exchange server. Following is the code:
public void readEmailsFromOutlook(/*String host, String username, String password*/ ) throws MessagingException, IOException {
String host = "hostname";
String username = "domain\\username";
String password = "password"
// Create empty properties
Properties props = System.getProperties();
props.setProperty("mail.smtp.auth","true");
props.setProperty("mail.store.protocol","imaps");
props.setProperty("mail.imap.auth.plain.disable","true");
props.setProperty("mail.imap.host",host);
props.setProperty("mail.imap.port","993");
props.setProperty("mail.imap.user",username);
props.setProperty("mail.imap.pwd",password);
props.setProperty("mail.imap.debug","true");
props.setProperty("mail.imap.ssl.protocols","SSL");
props.setProperty("mail.imap.socketFactory.class", "javax.net.ssl.SSLSocketFactory");
props.setProperty("mail.imap.socketFactory.fallback", "false");
props.setProperty("mail.imap.socketFactory.port", "993");
// Get session
Session session = Session.getInstance(props, new ExchangeAuthenticator(username, password));
session.setDebug(true);
// Get the store
Store store = session.getStore("imaps");
//Store store = session.getStore();
store.connect(host, username, password);
// Get folder
Folder folder = store.getFolder("INBOX");
folder.open(Folder.READ_ONLY);
BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(
System.in));
// Get directory
Message message[] = folder.getMessages();
for (int i = 0, n = message.length; i < n; i++) {
System.out.println(i + ": " + message[i].getFrom()[0] + "\t"
+ message[i].getSubject());
System.out.println("Read message? [YES to read/QUIT to end]");
String line = reader.readLine();
if ("YES".equalsIgnoreCase(line)) {
System.out.println(message[i].getContent());
} else if ("QUIT".equalsIgnoreCase(line)) {
break;
// Close connection
folder.close(false);
store.close();
But it threw the following error:

Whats wrong with my code?
Please help!!!!You're using the "imaps" protocol, but you've set properties for the "imap" protocol. Change all the property names from mail.imap.* to mail.imaps.*.
Also, get rid of all the socket factory properties.
If you still can't connect, see these connection debugging tips.
Most likely you're using the wrong host name or port number. In almost all cases, it's better to just let JavaMail choose the correct port number. -

Ftp connection in oracle server
dear all,
i need some ideas...
Fact: We have an application made by programmers. This app enter a lot of external users through internet browsers. Now the application will have to upload PDF files and save into a directory. This files will be read with UTL_FILE in order to identify the file name.
We were thinking that we have to open an ftp connection (in oracle server) through this application in order to save the pdf files into directory (another server) but this directory will have to connect through NFS to my oracle server.
I think that this could be a potential risk in my oracle server if i open ftp...
can you give me some ideas o antoher ways in order to do that i want ???
Thanks a lotNo version number.
No operating system.
No hardware platform.
No DDL.
Uploading PDF files from the client to the database server?
Uploading PDF files from the database server to another server in the data center?
Uploading to the file system?
Uploading to a BLOB?
What you are doing is totally unclear. But what is most unclear is why you chose to post this in a group named "Database Upgrade." What does this have to do with upgrading? -
Ftps client and other connect to server questions
Does anyone know if OS X has a built-in ftps (not sftp) client? Also, is there a list of supported protocols for "connect to server"? Thanks!
apparently there is via the application Terminal...but I have no idea how to work it!

OK, well I can do this via a dedicated FTP client like Fetch or Cyber Duck, but would much prefer to be able to utilize Apple's Connect to Server feature. I can connect to this particular server and the IT guy claims to have given me all the permissions I need.
FTP client will let me add files, make new folders, etc. Apple's finder let's me log in the same, but gives me the no write icon in the corner. Is there a trick to getting this to work like in Fetch? It would be much easier through the Finder than having to install FTP clients on everyone's Mac.
My login looks like: ftp://mydomainhere.com, then of course the typical User Name and Password. Is there any other way to type this?
Thanks for any help.Ahhh, I'm guessing it I would have found this info in the manual.... had I read it!
Thanks for the help. This will save me a ton of time trying to get a feature that's not supported to work.
Have a great day. -

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
- Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
- iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.
