FTP processing files mutliple times

Hello,
I have an issue, regarding the ftp scenario. I have configured the Quality of Service to "Exactly Once", Poll interval 120 seconds. I doubt that its performing as desired, because I see many files were processed many times.
My question is whats is the purpose of Exactly once and Exactly once in order. what if poll interval is small and execution overlaps i.e. first process in execution and poll interval reaches for second execution and so forth?
I want that any file written should be read once only.
Quick responses will be highly appreciated.
Jawed

Hi Javed,
>>Poll interval is small and execution overlaps i.e. first process in execution and poll interval reaches for second execution and so forth?
In EO case
1. all files from first process will be available (say 10).
2. second process starts (say 5 files from 1st process are still there to be processed) and 5 files are made available to XI
3. now XI need to process total 10 file
So in-total there were 15 files and all will be processed once and for each of them there will be an output from XI. But there is no guarantee that the first 10 files (of 1st process) will be delivered first and then the 5 files (2nd file)
In EOIO case
1. all files from first process will be available (say 10 files are available).
2. Since the mode is EOIO, all files are punt into one queue (say INPUTQUEUEU)
3. second process starts (say 5 files from 1st process are still there to be processed in INPUTQUEUE) and 5 files are made available to XI
4. They will also be appended to the end of the INPUTQUEUE.
3. Now XI need to process total 10 file
So in-total there were 15 files and all will be processed once and for each of them there will be an output from XI. Since they were fed into single queue INPUTQUEUE, there is a guarantee that the first 10 files (of 1st process) will be delivered first and then the 5 files (2nd file)
In both case the Read files need to be archived

  • How to process files sequentially in PI using bpm

    Hi Folks,
I am really looking for one requirement like, Sender file adapter has to pick multiple files by file name based with some time gap? Can we?normally i am getting 40 files in the source directory with some time gap like 1hr and 2 hours.but my in some situations like system got down and if the server stopped for some refresh work then 2 days files will come to source directory and after system is sap pi try to process files at a time but the messages not going in order.
I have got one BPM in this, I have tried with Process mode : Name and Date, with wait step on BPM, but no use. The way how PI behaving, if 40 files in file directory, it is picking all files in one shot. Start processing but not in order. if it is process also the SNC system can't process 4 at time.it will process files with some time gap.
The problem is on Receiver system side. The receiver system is SNC system, if old data receives later than earlier date data; we get data obsolete application error.
Ex: If I receive 25th and 26th files, first I need to process 25th first on PI sends to SNC, I need to give some time gap and pick another file or even PI picks and process 26th file, no problem but I need to give some time gap to send SNC to this 26th date file?
Please how guys, throw me your great ideas
Step1: i configured the sender file adapter with by name property to sort the files but some times pi picking new date file first and old one later.here my question is how to configure adapter to pick files in sorted by name.the filename i given like xml_0809008998_*.xml
step2: after pi picking the files in order but the messages not sending order to target system.i was configure the bpm like first recive step then transformation step then i was used wait step to process files with time gap.after that block step mode is default inside i was used 2 bblock steps.
here my question how to configure bpm process messages in order?
    Thanks in advance!!

    Hi,
In the sender file comm channel use Processing Sequence = By Date. After that use Quality of service as EOIO and provide one queue name. Use same queue name in the receiver comm channel as well. So files will be picked by the date of the file and messages will be passed to SNC system in "first in first out" basis.

  • Is CPA Cache refresh linked with  ftp or file pooling process in XI?

    Hi,
I have a file to file scenario using Transport protocol as FTP in XI 3.0 SP 15.
When we try to sends some file using ftp protocol where we are using
    FTP  connection parameters
    Server                          = <CORRECT IP>,
    Port                               =  21 ,
    User name                <CORRECT NAME>,
    Password                  <PASSWORD> ,
    Data Connection           = Active
    Connection Seq          = None
    Connection Mode          = Permanently
    Transfer Mode            =   Text
    Processing Parameters
Quality of Service    = Exactly Once
    Pooling Interval        = 1 sec
    Processing Mode    = delete
    File Type                   = Text
    File encoding           = utf-8
The problem we are facing like some time the ftp is not working even the file is present in the location for pick up. If few files are stacked up to be collected then when we are using CPA Cache refresh in Full mode manually then it fetches all the files from the location but the problem is that ,we have a time constraint for this process to be completed in just 60 seconds if we are not able to pick up a  file in 60 Secs then the file will be treated as invalid.
So I just want to know how Manual CPA CACHE refresh in full mode generally solve the problem.
Next if more files will be stacked up then cache refresh also failed to solve the problem and more cache refresh result in NOT pooling any other files in XI including the above discussed flow.
So,in anyway Cache refresh linked with ftp or file pooling process in XI?
Please assist me in correctly understating the whole problem and what solution could be put to solve this.
    Thanks,
    Satya

    Hi Suraj,
If you see my query i have mentioned that the pooling interval is 1 Second.
If we are not able to pick the file with in 60 Secs as this is a  real time scenario so the file will be treated as a invalid file.
Moreover this problem is happening some time.
I have also checked the component monitoring it is saying everything is ok as because we are receiving the file with out any error and the file transfer is also success. The only problem is that it is not collecting the files from the given location.
Hope i make you understnad the problem .If not please revert back i will try to explain once again.
    Thanks,

  • File format while sending a file  using FTP Process

    Hi,
I am facing a formatting problem when i send a file from SAP application server to a different sever using FTP process.
    The problem is like this:
Lets say I have a file with 10 records on the application server. When i am downloading this file to a pc, the file is showing 10 lines.
But when i open the same file on the other server it is showing 10 records as 1 line.
The file i am sending is a text file.(ex: acc_payable.txt)
If i open the same file on the other server using word pad it is showing 10 records in 10 different lines.
I want the file to be opened using notepad and want to see the each record in a different line
Can anybody help me on this issue

Another stab at "simplest": can you avoid embedding
    newline characters in the strings
your write and reply on PrintWriter's
println() methods instead? But, if I understand the OP, this will cause the same problem. He is running on Unix but wants to generate a DOS type eol. The println() method will use the OS default; therefore, he needs to explicitly specify the DOS eol.

  • File adapter causes FTP process stop result 0 byte file.

Has anyone ever heard that FTP adapter can cause FTP process to stop and end up with 0 byte file transferred?
We use the normal ftp script to ftp file from external file server place file in XI inbound folder so that file adapter can pick them up from that folder.
We have encounter a few 0 byte FTPed file in our system. One suspecting is the network between XI server and file server might get some interruption. With out just blaming on the network. We would like to know if there is any possibility that it is also causes by our file adapter? Says, it try to read the file that is not yet complete transferring make FTP give up transferring??
We would like to know if FTP process is transferring the file over and file adapter try to read, what will happen? Will it read file with incomplete content and ftp still go on? Or will it stop reading and return back error as the file could not be open? Or it will force FTP process to let go the file??
    Best rgds,

    Hi,
    ><i>We would like to know if there is any possibility that it is also causes by our file adapter? Says, it try to read the file that is not yet complete transferring make FTP give up transferring??</i>
have not seen the file adapter causing any such problems. So, it looks like a network issue.
    ><i>We would like to know if FTP process is transferring the file over and file adapter try to read, what will happen? Will it read file with incomplete content and ftp still go on? Am not exactly sure, but when a file is being created and the file adapter tries to read such a file, the file would be READ and WRITE Locked and so File adapter should not be able to read such a file until the creation of the file is complete.
Also, take a look at the note :  <b>821267</b> , question 31 for how file adapter processes empty file.

  • How to update the HTML file so that we can Control our process in real time

After installing following three steps as per the lookout 4 online help I am unable to Monitor and control the Process in HTML format, which was exported manually in lookout server.
    1) Creating a Web Client Page in Lookout
    2) Download a Lookout Web Client
    3) Setting Up Own Web Server
My browser shows only the instance, which I have uploaded manually without any update
Problem: How to automatically update/refresh the HTML file so that we can Monitor/Control our process in real time/bi-directional mode.

    Hi,
It seems like your process is not updating. When you create a Web Client, it uses ActiveX which lets you control the Lookout process fully. Make sure that you run the process. You can do this by pressing CTRL+Spacebar which puts it in Run-mode. Perhaps then you may see your graphs, etc updating.
Also, please refer to page 11-1 of the Users Manual linked below:
    http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/322390a.pdf
What kind of Web Server are you using? Make sure all the settings in it are done properly. If you have LabVIEW, you can use the LabVIEW Web Server.
Hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have any further questions.

After two days of attempts, Google & Apple searches, one Apple post stated to turn off all firewalls and virus software and keep trying since there were 6 gazillion people trying to update.  I have Windows 7 & Kaspersky and had to diable every single safety feature in Kaspersky as well as Firewalls and it finally allowed the download and update attempt.
Glancing at the forum, there appears to be numerous other problems with missing pictures, text problems etc after the IOS5 download but fortuneately, everything seems ok so far.  Good luck, it is frustrating!  Hattie47

It's on a windows server, is there any reason not to use samba?
FTP is painstakingly and the scripts break easily. If you just mount the windows share on your linux server, there's no need to transfer them, their available!
I know this doesn't resolve the question you've got, but using a samba mount the whole script is obsolete.

  • FTP Get File List Action Block, It's double listing files!  ver 11.5

Hi guys.. I have a good one!   I have an FTP Get File List action block in my BLS transaction.  Occasionally, it double lists the files in its output.   For testing I put a repeater with a logevent output where I log the filename, date, and size.  Heres what I saw for my action block output.
    2009-02-13 00:38:00,963  [UserEvent] : File Name: DMM_Export_0010056.txt, File Date 2009-02-13T00:36:00, File Size 339
    2009-02-13 00:38:00,963  [UserEvent] : File Name: DMM_Export_0010056.txt, File Date 2009-02-13T00:36:00, File Size 339
This is xMII  version 11.5.6 b73  with java 1.4.2_07
I have a workaround by putting in a distinct action block, after the filelist, but anybody have an idea why this might happen?   My theory is that something might be occuring if the file is being written to while we try to process it, but not sure.
I've been building BLS parsers since 2003, (Remember those fun times with Jeremy?)   I've never seen this happen.

My example is a sample log file before the distinct action.  The general log shows nothing other than the subsequent transaction errors I get as a result of running the same error twice (Tcode return from BAPI calls etc)
Here is something else interesting..  my userlog file is acting funny, like its trying to write on top of itself.  could it be the transaction is actually running twice or parts of it?
For example look at the following log entries
This is how my log file entry for a production confirmation should look
    2009-02-13 00:38:06,854 [LHScheduler-Int10_NestingWOProdConf] INFO   UserLog - [UserEvent] :
However sometimes... its looking like this...
    2009-02-13 2009-02-13 00:38:11,854 [LHScheduler-Int10_NestingWOProdConf] INFO   UserLog - [UserEvent] :
Like it started writing to the log, then started again.
The problem we are having is that we have JCO calls to SAP in this transaction that does goods movement, we get locking / block errors back from our  saying that we (our sap account) is already updating the information.   Sometimes the information would be posted twice!  You can see how this has become a HUGE issue posting data to a LIVE system twice.
This is happening on 2 xMII servers.

  • FTP process flow not using registered userid

    Hi,
I posted the following last week, to the back of a thread that Igor was answering to, but haven't seen any replies yet. Can some body answer the question regarding the userid used on the target location when an FTP process flow is ran please?
    Thanks again.
    ==================
    Igor,
I followed the examples given in this thread, and checked the case study in the PDF, but am still not able to 'get' a file using FTP to the desired location.
I have an FTP work flow configured with the Path Settings pointing to: REMOTE LOCATION is a w2k server, WORKING LOCATION is on Unix. These locations are registered in the Deployment Mgr properly.
I am able to PUT a file to win2k from Unix, but not GET.
This is caused by the fact that, during FTP WF execution, it is ran as Unix user 'oracle', whom do not have write access to the Root Path registered for the WORKING LOCATION. (I can do a get to /tmp).
Also, I am getting these messages in the execution log, even if the FTP was successful:
WARNING: Log file truncated - see RAB for further information.
ftp: ioctl I_PUSH ttcompat: No such device or address
ftp: ioctl(TIOCGETP): No such device or address
All of these problems indicate that the run time Unix user, 'oracle', doesn't have sufficient rights to various directories. Is it possible to force OWB use the userid that was registered for the WORKING LOCATION?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Please follow the below steps.
    1. Kill the OWF process using the Oracle Workflow Monitor.
    - On the OWF Monitor home page, use "Find Process" to find the process
    - In the "Process List" page, click on the Process Name
    - Click on the "View Diagram" button
    - Click on the "Abort Process" button
In the process list, the process should have a white-black flag.
    2. Connect as the Workflow schema owner and execute the following commands in order to purge the item type.
    - WF_PURGE.TOTAL package : deletes obsolete runtime data which includes: Items, Item activity statuses, Notifications, Expired activity versions.
    SQL> execute wf_purge.total
    - WFRMITT.sql script : deletes all definitions for an Item.
    SQL> @< database_oracle_home> wf\admin\sql\WFRMITT.sql
    3. Deploy the Workflow Process again from the OWB Deployment Manager.
    Thanks,
    Leo.

There was a bug in Chris' package in that it wasn't handling a two code response from a windows FTP server for one of the commands, but I emailed him and he fixed that. Not his fault, he didn't have a windows FTP server to test on at the time.
FTP is a pretty straight forward protocol and easy to wrap a PL/SQL package around (using <i>UTL_TCP</i>).Absolutely. and the RFC details almost everthing you need to handle. It was quite quick to knock up a package, similar to the code hoek has linked to.
I think there is a lot of common stuff that many of us do in this regard. Always wondered how well a proper GPL'ed open source project providing a PL/SQL development framework and libraries would do...I think there'd be a lot of arguments about what is the best way of doing things. :D

  • NW ftp 550 File Server unavailable

FTP service running on one NW 6.5 sp8 server (//server6) in the tree.
I have rights to all servers in the tree.
All file servers are Netware 6.5 sp8
My home directory and default ftp directory is //server1/data/home/me.
Within an ftp session I can

    cd //server3/data/dept
I get the message "550 File Server unavailable".
I have a department whose home directories and department share are on //server3 and I need to enable ftp to those areas. The only difference I can think of between Server 2 and Server3 is that server3 also runs AFP - does that get in the way of Netware ftp?
How do I troubleshoot the ftp connection to Server3?

Thank you, Andrew, for the continued interest.
I have downloaded and applied the newer nwftpd.nlm, unfortunately it hasn't resolved the problem.
I aslo found TID 10060796 Error: "550 File Server Unavailable" after FTP cd to another server which suggests slp problems. The test suggested does show the problem server in the available novell.bindery services from the server runing nwftpd. Any clues what or how to troublshoot if ths is an SLP problem aslo appreciated.

  • FTP process

    Here is my problem.
The NT server sending FAT files (thru' FTP) to Sun server frequently.
The processing engine in Sun server pick up these files, once it deducts the files
in the input location. My problems come, some time the unexpected delay in the FTP process
The processing engine pick up the files for processing while the FTP is in progress.
Some of my friends told me " processes cannot take a input file for processing
While the FTP process has not completed fully. In SunOS, attempting to access any
File for processing which is under FTP process will fail"
Is it true? Pls reply me asap.
    Thanks.
    Gani

This may or may not be true in SunOS. It is certainly not true in other operating systems.
It should not be hard to set up a test -- start uploading a very large file to your server, and try reading it via a program while the upload is still taking place.
