FTP "PWD" and unescabe double quotes

HI
I am using LV8.2.1 and the internet toolkit.
There is a FTP function called "PWD"(print working directory) who I think got a bug.
It don't put out the working direktory.
It take the reply text ( ex: Current working directory is "fs")and use the subVI "unescabe double quotes.vi" to remove the quotes, but this subVI need to have a string where the hole text is surrounded with double qoutes.
The FTP "PWD" function send a string like this( ex: Current working directory is "fs") to the subVI and that result in an empty string out.
Take a look at the attached pictures.

Hi Bjarne,
what FTP server are you using? It seems your FTP server doesn't follow the protocol. The response to a "PWD" should be like this:
257 "/path/on/server" [is current directory.]
It should start with the 257 code, followed by the path surrounded by double quotes.
If the FTP server follows the protocol the PWD VI works just fine.
As a workaround, you can use the "reply string" output of the PWD VI and use a match pattern to find the portion string between double quotes.

  • XMLType and Curled Double Quotes (8220, 8221)

    The following select fails with an XML parser error:
    select xmltype('<tag>&#8220;A&#8221;</tag>') from dual
    I'm trying to definitively determine why...
    We have XML that goes into a CLOB column in our 9.2 database, then is put into an XMLTYPE variable (in PL/SQL) and manipulated as XML. (The above select statement is just a highly-simplified test case, but we do use XMLTYPE in this manner in our select to convert the CLOB to an XMLTYPE instance.) The data has occasional instances of curled double quotes, represented as &#8220; and &#8221; and when these exist, the XML parse error occurs.
    My impression is that these Unicode representations of the curled double quote characters are acceptable in XML. They parse and validate fine in XMLSpy for whatever that's worth. Also, I can construct a DOM document in Java, using Oracle's XMLParser V2, that contains these Unicode representations.
    Why can't I do this using XMLTYPE in PL/SQL?
    Thanks for any assistance!
    Jim

    In the prior message, the sentence that reads:
    ...represented as “ and ” and when these exist...
    the pair of double quotes should read, respectively, &# followed by 8220; and &# followed by 8221; - the forum renderer actually rendered those as the curled double quotes...

  • How to detect apostrophe and add double quote on that?

    Hi!
      I have a user name is CH'NG
      His name has an apostrophe ' over there.
      I use GUI_UPLOAD to read from a xml file and store inside a local variable,
      <b>lv_name = 'CH'NG'.</b>
      I encounter the problem of endless ending because of these 3 apostrophes.
      Therefore, I wish to write some code like, if i detect the lv_name contains any apostrophe, i will add another 2 apostrophes infront of the single quote (which i viewed from other threads, saying that putting a 2 apostrophe can solve the problem ), such as:
      IF lv_name CA apostrophe.
         lv_length = strlen( lv_name ).
         lv_len = sy-fdpos + 1.
         CONCATENATE lv_name+0(sy-fdpos) 2 apostrophe lv_name+ lv_len(lv_length) into lv_result.
      ENDIF.
    so, my lv_result: CH'''NG
    Kindly advise.
    thanks a lot!

    Hi,
    I suspect you might have more success if your replaced your open and close double quotes (i.e. “ and ”) by standard double quotes (").

    Some fields in the CSV file can have double quotes (") inside the values like:
    "value1""";value2;value3";value4
    When this happens, the adapter reject the file. How can i solve this issue? There is some option to set inside the XSD?
    Thank you in advance.
    Riccardo

    Thank you for your help, but I've already tried with the quotedBy atribute and it doesn't work. The double quote character can occur multiple times inside the single value and it's not representing a delimiter: it's a part of the field value. For me it's not important, it could be ignored, but the problem is that I don't know how, since the adapter fails to read the file rejecting it.

  • How to globally change straight double quotes to curly open and close?

    I am editing with InDesign (5.5) some documents created by others. I suddenly noticed that the double quote marks were straight, not curly, in one document and Find/Change does not seem to offer and option to distiguish the open (left) double quote mark from the right (close) when starting with double straight quotes. Any suggestions?
    And--unrelated--why is so hard to get to a page where you can actually post a question?
    Thanks!
    Jill

    Since the position of a double quotation mark determines its shape, it is easiest to use GREP with Find/Change. You can (1) find a straight quotation mark at the beginning of a word/phrase and change it to left quotation marks, and then (2) find a straight quotation mark at the end of a word/phrase and change it to right quotation marks.
    (1)
    Find what:
    ~"([\l\u\)[:punct:]])
    This finds a straight quotation mark in front of any character or punctuation.
    Change to:
    \x{201C}$1
    This puts a left quotation marks in front of what was behind the straight quotation mark.
    (2)
    Find what:
    ([\l\u\)[:punct:]])~"
    This finds a straight quotation mark behind any character or punctuation.
    Change to:
    $1\x{201D}
    This puts a left quotation mark behind what was behind the straight quotation mark.
    I would find/change the first hits one at a time, and when you are confident that it works for your documents, go ahead and Change All.

  • Outlook 2010 apostrophe, single and double quotes are changes to question mark while sending mails to other internet receipient.

    We are using MS Outlook 2010 as our mail client. But we have noticed that whenevr we sent a mail to any other internet mail recipient all the "apostrophe", "single" and "double quotes" have automatically converted to ?. We have
    done almost all the workaround found in this site such as
    1.New a message and focus on the message window > click File > Options > Mail > Spelling and Autocorrect… > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options… > AutoFormat > clear the box before “Straight quotes” with “smart quotes”
    2. Used different encoding. We presently using US-ASCII for outgoing message. etc.
    Need your help to sort out these issues urgently.
    Waiting for a solution.

    Hi,
    What is your account type? IMAP, POP or Exchange?
    Send an email from the webmail, ask the recipient if this issue persists.
    As far as I know, this problem is always related to the encoding for outgoing messages, and here I suggest you try UTF-8:
    Go to File -> Options -> Advanced -> International options -> Uncheck "Automatically select encoding for outgoing messages", then select "Unicode (UTF-8)" beside "Preferred encoding for outgoing messages" -> OK.
    Hope this helps.

  • Single and double quotes entered in form field cause corruption?

    I am creating a database change request system using in APEX 2.2 and the main form has a description field (clob) and a API_description field (varchar2(4000)) that are text area fields on the page. The form seems to have trouble when the string data entered into the text area page items on the form contain single and double quotes.
    <br><br>
    I have pasted my test data below in this problem description(this is not true sql but it gets the point accross). I use the wizard created insert process to get the data into the db from the text fields in the wizard generated form, then use the wizard created fetch process to get the data back out and rendered on the same form. When I use the test data below, sometimes a few characters dissappear from my input data on the way out, sometime form fields go away, and their html is interspersed with the previous form field's data on the page. And I get different results on different tests with the same data.
    <br><br>
    Do I have to do something special for a vanilla htmldb text page item on a form to be able to receive single and double quotes in the string input in order to avoid that string data confusing the processing on the way in to the Database or on the way out for rendering?
    <br><br>
    Do I have to escape the characters? How do I do this?
    <br><br>
    The "varchar2(1) := ‘A’" part of the below TEST DATA string seem to cause the most trouble. The behavior is erratic - sometimes the pattern works, sometimes html is interspersed in one place, sometimes another (on the way back out)

I am pretty confident that at least single curly quotes do not work well in apex 2.2). I would not be surprised if some of the others were trouble as well.:

  • SSIS importing comma delimited with double quote text qualifier - Works in VS - SQL Job ignores text qualifier and fails (truncation)

    I've created an SSIS package to import a comma delimited file (csv) with double quotes for a text qualifier ("). Some of the fields contain the delimiter inside the qualified text. An example row is:
    15,"Doe, John",IS2,Alabama
    In SSIS I've specified the text qualifier as ". The sample output in the connection manager looks great. The package runs perfectly from VS and when manually executed on the SSIS server itself. The problem comes when I schedule the package to run via SQL
    job. At this point the package ignores the text qualifier, and in doing so pushes half of a field into the next available column. But instead of having too many columns, it concatenates the last 2 columns ignoring the delimiter. For example (pipes are fields):
    15|"Doe| John"|IS2,Alabama
    So the failure happens when the last half of a field is too large to fit into the next available field. In the case above _John" is 6 characters where the IS2 field is char(3). This would cause a truncation failure, which is the error I receive from the
    job history.
    To further test this I created a failure flow in my data flow to capture the records failing to be pulled from the source csv. Out of ~5000 records, ~1200 are failing, and every one of the failures has a comma delimiter inside the quoted text with a 'split'
    length greater than the next ordinal field. The ones without the comma were inserted as normal and records where the split fit into the next ordinal column where also imported, with the last field being concatenated w/delimiter. Example records when selected
    from table:
    25|"Allan Percone Trucking"|GI6|California --Imported as intended
    36|"Renolds| J."|UI6,Colorado --Field position offset by 1 to right - Last field overloaded
    To further ensure this is the problem, I changed the csv file and flat file connection manager to pipe delimited, and sure enough every record makes it in perfectly from the SQL job execution.
    I've tried comma delimited on the following set ups. Each set up failed.
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 RTM
    DB Compat 80
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Compat 80
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 RTM
    DB Compat 100
    SSIS Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Server 2008 R2 RTM
    DB Compat 100
    Since a lot of our data comes in via comma delimited flat files, I really need a fix for this. If not I'll have to rebuild all my files when I import them to use pipe delimiters instaed of commas. I'd like to avoid the extra processing overhead if possible.
    Also, is this a known bug? If so can someone point me to the posting of said bug?
    Edit: I can't ask the vendor to change the format to pipe delimited because it comes from a federal government site.

    Just wanted to share my experience of this for anyone else since I wasted a morning on it today.
    I encountered the same problem where I could run the package fine on my machine but when I deployed to a server and ran the package via dtexec, the " delimeter was being replaced with _x0022_ and columns all slurped up together and overflowing columns/truncating
    data etc.
    Since I didn't want to manually hack the DTS XML and can't install updates, the solution I used was to set an expression on the textdelimiter field of the flat file connection with the value "\"" (a double quote). That way, even if the one stored in XML
    gets bodged somewhere along the way, it is overridden with the correct value at run time. The package works fine everywhere now.

  • Double quotes in function and procedure names when using impdp

    When viewing a function in the original database, it looks like:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION TA_ACTIVITY_D_GEN_FNC
    After doing an expdp and impdp to restore a development database, it now looks like
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION "TA_ACTIVITY_D_GEN_FNC"
    and also has 2 blank lines at end of function.
    This causes us problems when trying to use various utilites to compare differences in production and development. Now every function and procedure shows up as being different.
    Can someone please explain why and what can be done to avoid this from happening?
    Edited by: user6116705 on Jun 15, 2010 7:52 AM

    from old exp, here is the first line of the create procedure statement:
    CREATE FORMAT71 PROCEDURE "SECURE_DML"
    You can see the double quotes. I don't understand why you wouldn't see the same compare issue with old exp. I was wondering what you were using for compare since it would let me know where to look for anything that has changed from the original create to the create performed by data pump. I remember there being an issue in this area. I just don't remember if it was extra spacing, upcasing, or something else or multiple changes. You could contact Oracle support to see if there is a fix and if it is backported to your version.
    The only other way you can possibly fix this (and it would be a huge pain) would be to run impdp with a sqlfile and then edit the sqfile to remove the double quotes and to remove any extra spacing/extra lines. A patch from Oracle would certainly be easier if one was available.

  • URGENT!! CELLWRAPPER single and double quot issues???

    REP-50003: Bad parameter:  CELLWRAPPER='I get this error whenever I try and use single or double quotes as a cellwrapper.
    However if I do [SPACE][SPACE] as a cell wrapper this works fine?Is this a bug? I'm sure we have version "10.1.2.0.2"?

    It does appear to be a bug. Look here on Metalink for details.

  • Special double quotes and apostrophes in java help

    We are writing help for an application and using doctor help to generate it. The help is written in Word and converted to html. Word however, converts all the " characters to those "squiggly ones" which point towards the word they're quoting.
    When we viewed the generated help with java help those squiggly were not rendered. They are rendered as a square which means java help does not understand them.
    I'm sure someone else must have encountered this issue.
    Please can you tell me how to successfully render the squiggly double quotes in java help?

    You need the following encoding for those characters:
    &#8220;
    &#8221;
    using an xml encoder, e.g. xmlenc solves this issue, otherwise you must do it manually.
    But I have a related problem. When characters in the XML file are encoded
    they are only displayed correctly if some non encoded character follows.
    When there are two successive encoded characters then only the first one
    is displayed correctly. Putting a whitespace in between them displays both
    characters correctly, but with the whitespace in between.
    I guess there is an issue with the XML parser. Changing the encoding of the XML file does not help.
    example: TOC.xml file (displayed correctly in IE)
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='ISO-8859-9' standalone='yes' ?>
    <!DOCTYPE toc PUBLIC "-//Sun Microsystems Inc.//DTD JavaHelp TOC Version 1.0//EN" "http://java.sun.com/products/javahelp/toc_1_0.dtd"><!--generated by JHelpDev Version: 0.4, 18 August 2005, see jhelpdev.sourceforge.net-->
    <toc version="1.0">
    <tocitem text="images "/>
    <tocitem text="&#286;&#286;RENC&#304; MOD&#220;L&#220; " target="index"/>
    </toc>
    Any ideas?

  • Pass double-quote inside a string via flashvars and SWFObject?

    Hi All,
    Consider some SWFObject code like this:
    flashvars.data1 = "{&quot;requestId&quot;:14979,&quot;email&quot;:&quot;[email protected]&quot;,&quot;zip&quot;:&quot;12345&quot;}";
    flashvars.data2 = '{"requestId":14979,"email":"[email protected]","zip":"12345"}';
    If I host my SWF in IE, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.parameters.data1 will be a string, with double-quotes (&quot; entities will be translated to double quotes).  However, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.parameters.data2 will simply be the one-character string "{".
    The opposite is true in Firefox. FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.parameters.data2 will be a string, with double-quotes (&quot; entities will be translated to double quotes).  However, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication.parameters.data1 will simply be the one-character string "{".
    How can I pass a double-quote in a flashvar using SWFObject that works in all browsers?  I've been searching on this and haven't been able to find a straight answer...
      -Josh

    This works in both IE, Firefox, and Chrome:
    flashvars.data2 = escape('{"requestId":14979,"email":"[email protected]","zip":"12345"}');
    Is that the way to go if you want double quotes in your string?
