How can i find out the ftp server details from the soa instance.And i want to send the records to database,so where can i load the files,in which server i have need to load the files.How we can find out the server details to load the files from soa instance.Any body have an idea plz provide the steps.Thq

Hi, if you really retrieve an excel file, you can not see the data in ABAP. You may see them in Excel. For this you may use
CALL METHOD document->open_document_from_table
of the interface i_oi_document_proxy for OLE objects. You can access the data with reference to the interface i_oi_spreadsheet.

Retrieve text file from ftp server every 15 mins

Hi guys,
We are able to connect to an FTP server with 5 text files. Every 15 minutes, we need to retrieve each of the 5 files. Please assist me with the coding logic to retrieve the file into the SAP Directory. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Reading a file from ftp server

I am able to put file on ftp server using ftp adapter.But same settings are not working while polling file on ftp.
Do i need to do some settings for get operation??

Hi,
Check the file permissions and for testing give all read/write/execute permissions to the file to be read from FTP. Also check the file modification date of the file.
Check for the logs at 2 places for any error messages:
- SOA server diagnostics logs
- FTP server logs
You can also enable the FINEST level of Adapter logs for adapters and see for the detailed errors in the diagnostic logs.
FMW Console > right click soa-infra > Logs > Log Configuration > expand oracle.soa > set Trace32 : FINEST for oracle.soa.adapter

Help Fetching files from an FTP server into a DBase or local folder

Hello Gurus!
I need help to automate or design/write an app capable of (replace a manual process) reading log files in an ftp server folder, this log files are called CDR (Call Detail Record) and named as follow cdr.txt.20020221010000 meaning that this log file was created on 2002/02/21 at 01:00:00.
This CDR log files are generated every hour by a Lucent telephone switch using a software/program called EXS ExchangePlus in ASCII format (fixed length delaminated, Char data type). EXS ExchangePlus writes a record in this CDR/log files after the call is completed, i.e. Calling_Number, Called_Number, Date_connect (yyyymmdd), Time_connect (hhmmss), Charged_time (hhmmss, duration of the call), and so on.
The manual process I am using now is:
1. Log in the ftp server into the folder where the CDRs log files are, located the latest generated CDRs log files and downloaded them into a local folder/directory. Normally I download the CDR for full day or 24 CDRs log files.
1a. Optionally sometimes I used a program called VEdit compiled/gather all 24 CDRs into a single file.
2. Once I have downloaded the CDRs I want to process (normally I process a full day 24 CDRs) I imported then into a Data Base temp table, where then I do the conversion of data types (i.e. Dates and times fields from char type -> to ->Date type) and calculations for billing purposes.
So if somebody can help with this, I would really appreciated ideas or any kind of information on how to automated this process.
I�m familiar with Java2 platform (using JDeveloper ) so if somebody has done something like this before using java, this would very helpful. Or Maybe using Visual Basic 6.0 would help too.

File name structure for picking up X12/EDIFACT documents from an FTP Server

According to some documents, and posts in this forum, the file name for a document retreived from an FTP server by B2B has to be in the following format: %TPName%_%X12 Doc Type%_%X12 Version_1_12345.dat
Why is this format required? Is it possible to obtain all this information for the Header Envelopes of each X12 or even EDIFACT EDI Document?

I did specify the propery oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.edi.identifyFromTP=Group, but I was still not getting the expected results. Now I played around for a while and now I identified the problem . When I specify the property oracle.tip.adapter.b2b.edi.identifyFromTP=Group, I should use the Group ID when I create the agreement so that the agreement would be identified by using group id. I think I got that working now.
I have one question on the trading partner end point URL in FILE/FTP. When I specify the endpoint URL for a trading partner would that be used to pull the document from the trading partner or push the documents to trading partner?
In my testing even though I specified the end point URL for the trading partner using FILE protocol, when I put the message in that URL ( folder), it did not pull the message from that URL ( this trading partner is the initiator for that EDI 204 message). But when I put the messages into the host partner's end point URL, it got pulled and processed successfully. I am little confused on the usage of trading partner end point URL for the FILE/FTP protocols . Could you explain me little bit or point me to a documnet where it is expalined in detail?

How to configure sync with my local ftp server?

I have used XMarks since now because it hallow me to synchronize my bookmarks with my local server. Now XMarks don't work anymore because it's not more possible to synchronize the passwords.
Any other alternative imposes to use an external server and I don't want to use an external server. My data must remain on my machine it's absolutely excluded that i use an external unknown server for this.
The only solution must be a free solution (a real free solution) and the firefox synchronization seems to me the best/only one.
But I've not found how to configure it to use my own server.
So how to do it, where are the options to the synchronizer to give my own ftp server or whatever other server it needs?

iAS 6.0 sp4 officially does only support iPlanet Directory Server 5.0 sp1 and 4.13.

How can I registry an FTP server in SLD ?

Dear all,
In the web site: ****************/Tutorials/XI/XIMainPage.htm, I find many integration scenarios which use an FTP server as a sender or a receiver or both. I would like to configure one of them, but i don't know how can i registry an FTP server in SLD, and use this FTP server as a Business Service in Integration Directory.

In the SLD Create a Technical System of ThirdParty Type.
Choose Home ® Technical Systems.
       2.      Choose New Technical System.
The System Type screen appears.
       3.      Select the Third-Party indicator and choose Next.
The General screen appears.
       4.      Enter system details and choose Next.
The Installed Products screen appears.
       5.      On the left, select installed software products by selecting the Installed indicator.
On the right, all software components that are part of the selected software products appear.
       6.      On the right, select installed software components by selecting the Installed indicator.
       7.      Choose Finish.

Posting an Excel file to a FTP Server

Hi,
I have a requirement, where I have to convert the contents of an internal table to an excel file, along with header details and put that file to a FTP Server.
I am able to create an excel file in FTP server, using function module FTP_R3_TO_SERVER and transfer contents of my internal table. But the contents of my internal table are getting copied to one column. How do I get the contents in different columns?
Also how do I get the header details?

you can simply create a comma-separated text file on your SAP application server, line by line, each column separated by a semicolon (;). That file can later easily be opened with Excel. Afther the file has been created you can send it to the remote FTP server.

File2file-receiver-comm channel-incorrect ftp server

Hello,
The scenario is file (xml) to file (xml) to jumpstart the learning process.
config details:-
a) sender
ftp file "/xi_input.dat" from server 10.20.30.98
processing mode: "delete"
b) receiver
ftp file "/xi_output.dat" to server 10:20:30:98
file construction mode: "create"
Expected result:-
file at sender should be read by XI and deleted. Output file should be created by XI.
Acheived result:-
SXMB_MONI status is "processed successfully-(white black flag). XI read sender file "xi_input.dat" and it was deleted as requested in the config. But there was no output file "/xi_output.dat". Then chaged the FTP server at receiver to 10.20.30.98. This resulted in creation of /xi_output.dat
Question:-
Though I got the desired result, I was unable to find the error from SXMB_MONI by myself.
I could manage to debug and find the sequence of actions, here it goes:-
tointerfacename->service->channel->file adapter->ftp mode
but there is no trace about why /xi_output.dat is not created via ftp (due to typo error in server name).
Please look at the log and advise why SXMB_MONI didn't report this error? or point me how to debug better.

Error Attempt to process file failed with Error occurred while connecting to the FTP server "10:20:40:92:21": java.net.UnknownHostException: 10:20:40:92
Now RTW still has red for receiver communication channel with the note
"In the Last 4 Hours Server 0 50_40103 Communication channel is correctly configured and started "
I performed stop and start to the communication channel it results in red status. However it is creating the file without problems.
Any way to make communicaton channel green?

Placing the File in ISeries AS400 FTP Server

I am working in IDOC to file Scenario and trying to append the Records in the flat file in AS400 FTP Server Directory.
I am unable to place to file in the FTP Server and getting the error message as below.
Message processing failed. Cause: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: An error occurred while connecting to the FTP server 'xx.xx.xxx.xxx:21'. The FTP server returned the following error message: 'com.sap.aii.adapter.file.ftp.FTPEx: 501 File identifier not valid in MKD subcommand.'. For details, contact your FTP server vendor
Please provide your valuable suggestion on this.

Unable to poll for files in FTP server using Proxy Service (in OSB Project)

Here are the stepd followed for creating proxy service that should poll ftp server to retrieve files but polling is not happening and unable to see any errors in logs.
1. Created service account by selecting resource type as static and providing the ftp user and password details.
2. Created a New Proxy Service in eclipse
     Tab General - service type as Messaging Service
     Tab Messaging - Request Message Type as Text, Response message type as None
     Tab Transport - Protocol selected as "ftp"
          - Endpoint uri entered in the format - ftp://hostname:port/directory
FTP Transport -Selected "external user" as User Authentication
          - Selected the Service Account thats created in step1/
               - File mMask - *.*
               - Polling Interval 60
               - Read Limit 10
               - Post Read Action - Delete
               - Transfer mode - binary
               - Download Directory - "some local directoy"
               - Error Directory - "some local error directory"
Could any one please help here to trouble shoot the polling issue and correct me if this is wrong approach.

Did you configure the FTP adapter which is present in Weblogic server?I think he's using FTP transport in OSB and not the JCA adapter, if that's the case FtpAdapter configuration wouldn't help...
unable to see any errors in logsThat's odd, try to mess up the hostname and see if you get a connection refused on the logs...
It may be a permissions issue, the user you're connecting may not even "see" the files you place there... Try using the same user to create and to poll files...

Empty files are getting created at receiver FTP server

Hi Experts,
I have an Idoc to File scenario where I am sending an XML file to receiver FTP server.
Scenario is working fine but sometimes an empty file is getting generated at receiver FTP server.
I have already selected ignore empty file at receiver channel so issue is not within PI system configuration.
When I checked the message log I can see that almost all the files are getting created successfully without any issues, but
for some files/messages I can see that there are below error logs.
"Transmitting the message to endpoint <local> using connection IDoc_AAE_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections"
"Exception caught by adapter framework: Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections."
And after there is again success message log in the same message and it creating a file successfully during that time stamp.
but the third party is sometime receiving empty file which I am not able to find in any trace or log (my file name is SD_timestamp.xml).
Can you please let me know what is the solution and what adjustments FTP server need to do in order to resolve this issue.

The error you are getting that says "Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections" has probably nothing to do with the empty files problem.
I second Hareesh Gampa that you first should try "temporary file creation". You might also need to tell the FTP owner that he should only pick up files with that are written completely and that do comply with a negotiated file name schema. The temp file should have another schema of course then. He should not pick up just every file that is written. See here for details

1. Has anyone used this with Oracle FTP Adapter to securely FTP files to the mainframe?
2. What is the best way to maintain the username and password in the oc4j-ra.xml of the FTP adapter?

Unfortunately there are some concerns with FTPS connectivity with XI.
As you know SFTP is not yet possible with XI, but somehow you could use FTPS.

3. Search the options of your client's software to find where its public and private keys are stored, these are 2 files present on the FTP server, then put the Public key of the XI server on the Client FTP Server and likewise for the Public Key of the FTP Server on the XI Server.
This enables the SSL handshake, i.e. Exchange of certificates.

In CC monitoring i am getting this error,. as connection to FTP is not established..
I have check the ping and telnet for port every thing is fine...
is it host entry in server is required to acess ftp ..
the error in CC monitoring is...

what have you given in the server details?
you should just give the ip and no need of prefix like ftp:// etc.
