Full DB Import

Dear all,
Am doing a full import of our production DB into our testing server..I created tablespaces like production in UAT... Do I need to create the users in target db before importing the dump of production ?..Any other considerations to make this import as a successful one with all grants and privileges ?
10.2.0.4 on solaris
Please guide
Kai

There is no need to create the users. If your databases makes use of DB links, do remember to set up your tnsnames, so that everything works out smoothly.
Also ensure that there is enough space in the file system, if you put the tablespaces in auto extend mode.
I hope you have used compress=N while exporting.

    Hi..
    ya temporary tablespace is present,and also contains 2gb freespace,with 2 datafiles.Are you sure its a datafile.It must be a tempfile. :)
Secondly, have you checked the default temporary tablespace of the database. Is it the one that you have mentioned.
    SELECT PROPERTY_NAME,PROPERTY_VALUE FROM DATABASE_PROPERTIES where PROPERTY_NAME='DEFAULT_TEMP_TABLESPACE';

  • Full Export/Import Errors with Queue tables and ApEx

I'm trying to take a full export of an existing database in order to build an identical copy in another database instance, but the import is failing each time and causing problems with queue tables and Apex tables.
I have used both the export utility and Data Pump (both with partial and full exports) and the same problems are occurring.
After import, queue tables in my schema are unstable. They cannot be dropped using the queue admin packages as they throw ORA-24002: QUEUE_TABLE <table> does not exist exceptions. Trying to drop the tables causes the ORA-24005: must use DBMS_AQADM.DROP_QUEUE_TABLE to drop queue tables error
As a result, the schema cannot be dropped at all unless manual data dictionary clean up steps (as per metalink) are done.
The Apex import fails when creating foreign keys to WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$PART. It creates the table ok, but for some reason the characters after the $ are missing so the referencing tables try to refer to WWV_FLOW_FILE_OBJECTS$ only.
I am exporting from Enterprise Edition 10.2.0.1 and importing into Standard edition 10.2.0.1, but we are not using any of the features not available in standard, and I doubt this would cause the issues I'm getting.
Can anyone offer any advice on how I can resolve these problems so a full import will work reliably?

    Thanks for the lead!
After digging around MetaLink some more, it sounds like I'm running into Bug 5875568 (MetaLink Note:5875568.8) which is in fact related to the multibyte character set. The bug is fixed in the server patch set 10.2.0.4 or release 11.1.0.6.

  • Full database import hangs

    System:
    Windows 2000 SP4
    Oracle 8.1.7
    Hi,
I am importing a full backup ( export dump file ). It was taken from the
database having the same structure as the database to which I am importing.
It is taking too long in importing data in a particular table and seems to hang
for hours. It says 40542226 rows imported. It seems to hang from here.
I checked the v$session to identify the session serving the import and
v$session_wait to verify the wait events for that session. But I don't see
any wait events for this session. What I see is the session itself.
    I did the import using:
    imp username/password@sid file'D:\data\fullbkp.dmp' log=D:\log\fullbkpimp.log' full=y
My question is: what are other diagnosis I should perform to help find out the cause and
possibly the solution of this import hang?

    Hi,
In addition, when I want to see what's is going on, I usually execute the SQL below in order to monitory the import operation activity...
    select substr(sql_text,instr(sql_text,'INTO "'),30) table_name,
    rows_processed,
    round((sysdate-to_date(first_load_time,'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss'))*24*60,1) minutes,
    trunc(rows_processed/((sysdate-to_date(first_load_time,'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss'))*24*60)) rows_per_min
    from sys.v_$sqlarea
    where sql_text like 'INSERT %INTO "%' and
    command_type = 2 and open_versions > 0; Cheers

  • Full database import issue

    Hi everybody,
our database version is 9.2.0.6 running in solaris, our one of the database got fragmented. In order to avoid fragmentation i export the full database and try to import the dumpfile to the same database(which i exported). If i do so means, the recored in the table will get duplicate. can someone help me out in this issue.Yhanks in advance
    Regards
    Hamid

Why do you import back on the same database (Where you feel the database is fragmented)?, Insted, prepare the new database with all the recommendation of the fragmented database i.e. Database Name, Character Set, Tablespaces (if the datafile locations are different), etc. Then, import your dump into the newly created database.
By the way, is this your production database?

    Sabdar Syed.

    SQL> grant export full database to almasar;
    ORA-00990: missing or invalid privilege
    But its working in 10.1.0.2.0
    Thankx

    Hi
What does catexp do? It "Creates internal views for Export/Import utility", says the script
Also, if I need to export import
just a few tables from another schema, do I still
need EXP_FULL_DATABASE and IMP_FULL_DATABASE role?Yes you need to have EXP_FULL_DATABASE and IMP_FULL_DATABASE role

  • Full database import and export

    Hi,
i performed full database export and want to perform full import please suggest me how to perform full import..

Oracle will change the data to the db characterset on import. This can be good or bad depending on what you have and what you want. So, what do you have and what do you want? Don't forget to check logs you should be keeping with these utilities. Edit: original exp/imp states the characterset in a log, expdp I guess you need to look at the 3rd line in the dump file. Don't edit dump files, if you are on unix you can use the strings command. It would help if you told us the exact version, patch set and platform you are on.
Also, see the [url http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10729/toc.htm]Globalization Guide.

  • Library Full while Importing Images

Just got my 1st iMac and trying the iPhoto.
I try to import around 6,000 photos (3-4M each) to iphoto. During the import process, an error pop and said my library was full and the process stopped. (aound 5,000 photos were imported)
After that, a message "xxx photo is waiting for me to import, yes/no" everytime I open the iphoto. However, no matter I choose yes or no, seems nothing happened.
How can I get rid of that message? Is there any size limit of a iphoto library?
p.s. my machine got 16G ram and 1T harddisk

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for a Folder called 'Import' or 'Importing'.
Drag it to the Desktop. *Make no other changes*.
    Start iPhoto. Does that help?
If it does then look inside that folder on your desktop. Does it contain anything you want? If not you can trash the folder.

  • Cannot open mail "home folder is full" after importing mail folder from time machine

hello, sorry for my poor english.
after an erase and reboot of my harddisk with new os yosemite installed, i've copied the mail folder from the time machine backup. but when i tried to open mail app it start to "import the mail box" and then stops saying that the home folder ins full, but it isn't, i've over 300gb free

What is your hard drive capacity and available free space after deleting a ton of stuff?
    Try the following.
With the Mail.app quit and using the Finder, go to Home > Library > Mail > Envelope Index.
Move the Envelope Index file to the Desktop.
When re-launching Mail, you will be prompted to import all mailboxes located within the Mail folder at Home > Library > Mail. Select OK and allow the import process to complete.
After confirming all mailboxes were successfully imported, you can delete the old Envelope Index file from the Desktop and this should resolve the problem.

  • AVCHD import & getting full quality import...

I've got a Panasonic HDC-TM20. When I look at the playback of the video on the actual camera the video quality looks a lot better than once imported into iMovie '09.
I am importing using the defaults "Full - Original Size", "Split days into events.", and do not "Analyze for stabilization".
Once imported the video looks a bit fuzzy. Here is an example of the video quality once imported:
    http://www.youtube.com/user/JustAnotherFamily#p/a/u/0/zhasv9rXfyA
Is there anything that can be done to get the full quality of 1920x1080 AVCHD?
I feel like I'm missing a step in the process of getting full quality video.
    Thanks again for any insights.

i also having the same problem.. im using panasonic HDC-SD100.. the video imported shows a bit movie trail as i use it to record skateboard footage(fast movement).

  • Some objects in sys schema not imported usinf full database import/export.

    Hello All,
We need to migrate database from one server to new server using same database version 11g Release 2 (11.2.0.1.0). We have some production objects in sys schema. We took full export using full=y and then import on new server using full=y. Other objects belonging to different tablespaces and users has successfully imported but production objects i.e table in sys schema not import.
We used following commands for export and import:
    # exp system file=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.dmp log=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.log full=y statistics=none
    # imp system file=/u01/backup/orcl_full_exp.dmp log=/u01/backup/orcl_full_imp.log full=y ignore=y
    Kind Regards,
    Sharjeel
