Function with lower case parameters

Hi all,
Can anyone explain me how to create import parameters for a function which allows and passes lower case characters?
In a abap program is done like this
parameters: user(64) type c lower case.
Thanks for any help?
Jan

Hi
You don't need it because depends on format your using while transfering a value to interface of fm.
The program maintains the format of a variable, only the selection-screen convert the parameter if it's used a type doesn't support the lowercase.
Anyway you can use the command TRANSLATE:
A: TRANSLATE <FIELD> TO UPPER CASE.
B: TRANSLATE <FIELD> TO LOWER CASE.
Before moving <FIELD> to FM

I think it does work as described, but the description is not very complete. Capitalization does not change any of the characters that you type; what it does is allow some of the lower case characters to display as capitals. If you copy the result and paste it as plain text, you'll see that the lower case characters are still there. It doesn't actually say anywhere that it can make capitals display as lower case, and it can't.
The obvious way around this is to actually type what you want.
The more powerful way is to install WordService from Devon Technologies which adds the functionality of Pages' capitalization menu as well a lot of other ones. WordService actually changes the character to the one displayed, and it works in most of the applications on your Mac.

    Conversion Routine
Conversion takes place when converting the contents of a screen field from display format to SAP-internal format and vice versa and when outputting with the ABAP statement WRITE, depending on the data type of the field.
If standard conversion is not suitable, it can be overridden by specifying a conversion routine in the underlying domain.
A conversion routine is identified by its five-place name and is stored as a group of two function modules. The function modules have a fixed naming convention. The following function modules are assigned to conversion routine xxxxx:
    CONVERSION_EXIT_xxxxx_INPUT
    CONVERSION_EXIT_xxxxx_OUTPUT
The INPUT module performs the conversion from display format to internal format. The OUTPUT module performs the conversion from internal format to display format.
If a screen field refers to a domain with a conversion routine, this conversion routine is executed automatically each time an entry is made in this screen field or when values are displayed with this screen field.
I have to correct myself . if the entry in small letters is allowed or not is already defined in the domain of the field.
You can see this in  SE11.
set radio button to Domain and enter CHARG in the domain field and click display.
in the definition tab you can see a box for Lower Case, which means that lower case entries are only allowed if this box is activated. (btw: the field for the conversion routine can be seen  above)

  • Using JOIN Function with NULL Dynamic Parameters

I have a report with utilizes dynamic parameters but will not run if any of the parameters are null.  I am also using the JOIN function to print out the values of these parameters. If the user doesn't enter in all the parameters, can the report still run?

    Hi eburton
In CR 2008 we have optional parameter functionality, this will allow the report to run without parameter values.
If you are not using CR2008 then the functionality is not available.
    Thanks,

  • Cannot Drop table with lower case name

    Hi,
One of my developer created a table through application in oracle 10g R2,
    when I list tables
    select * from tab;
the table name is shown in lower case or Initcap.
I cannot drop or manipulate that table.
How can I drop that table(s)?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Fahim

use the same case what your table has used and put double quotes on both sides for example if your table is lower case use like:
    DROP TABLE "your_table";HTH

  • Who can run in ultra turbo with low cas ramm. read pls..ill explain

This doent pertain to overclocker casue if you go over 219 fsb on 800 fsb pcu it disables mat..
Who here with an 865, 875 mobo can run 2 or 2.5 cas timings in ultra turbo with less then 215 FSB.
If so which brand ramm and what bios and board do you have .
I am about to order ramm thats iss 3-3-3-8 but i would rather get the corsair xmas which is 2-3-3-6 if id be able to run it in ultra turbo..
what do you think and all responses definately appreciated.....

All i know is that before i flashed my bios on my old pcb, all was wel in ultra turbo ..
After the flash couldnt do it anymore regardless of old flash and msi on the phone for 2 hours....
I think the 875 p has some hidden number which it calculates as being dafe or not, if your memory regardless of what timings you set it at reads lower then it thinks safe you will crash at boot.
Thats why i am making all this hype about memory . I cant afford to rMa belive you me i want that corsair twinx1024-3200cpt thats listed in the ramm module spec. Only thing is how to tell if its version 1.1 like they ask . I dont think version 1.1 is abtainable. this is referring to the ramm list for the neo 875 fisr pcb 2.0 . Also it lists ocz but which one do i get..
From what you are telling me, is anyone will work and to get2-2-2-5 if i can , but i think there might be a catch to this when the boards reads it. Im unsure. If so how to fake out the bios and let your manuel timings stick.
On my last boord after the flash , even when i flashed back i after loading default and running onece i restarted and set them to 3-4-4-8 and if i even went from slow to fast i could not boot. This only hapened in dual mode. In single i could hit ultra turbo....
remarks lol... If you know a way around this...   also if you can tell me about that corsir ramm listed in the fisr's list.  i can buy it but how do i know its v1.1 lol...
no, MAT can be still enabled with SPD disabled. for example i have the performance mode enabled, but i set my RAM timings manually. but i said that before, you must have missed it...
i didnt understand what you were trying to say here, your english is pretty weird. 2-2-2-5 timings can be done only with the new Corsair XL memory, and only under 215MHz. this kinda "is" the ultra turbo mode i guess, because you cant tighten the timings anymore.
and as that other guy said, 2-3-2-6 rated memory is always a safe bet as far as compatibility is concerned, from Kingston, Corsair or whoever. the new BIOS version dont have any problems with that from my experience.
as i said, i dont understand your other questions, but i hope your memory issue is solved.
    Quote
I'm not going to bother reading what everyone else posted, I have that 2-3-2-6 rated memory from corsair, and I run ultra-turbo. N/P
with SPD enabled or disabled? im just asking because i cant set MAT to ultra turbo with SPD setting the memory timings. Turbo is the best i can do here.

  • Fit functions with optionally fixed parameters?

How can I fit functions ranging from a basic linear fit to any
user-defined function to a set of x-y data with the option of keeping
single fit parameters fixed (e.g. a known slope in a linear fit)? One
possibility would be creating an according formula for the
Levenberg-Marquard-algorithm each time a parameter is set to be fixed
but that seems to be a bit inconvenient. Is there a simple approach to
this problem, I guess I'm not the first to try it? Thanks a lot,

    Daniel,
I have modified the Lev-Mar routines long ago to allow the runtime selection of which paramters should be fixed and which should be held constant. It is not very difficult to implement. I use it to fit EPR spectra where the model can have up to ~30 parameters, but typically only less than 10 are fit while the rest are kept constant.
Basically, I added a boolean array as input to Lev-Mar which has the same number of elements as the number of paramters of the model function. For each element, a TRUE means that the corresponding parameter should be fit while a FALSE means that the corresponding parameter should be held fixed at the value of the initial estimate.
You just need to seperate out the reduced problem for the fitting part, but carry all parameters along for the model calculation.
    It works great!

  • 1.1.0.21 Sorting columns that are named with lower case characters not work

I'm trying to sort my results in the table's data tab. I have the colums defined as:
    Help_ID, Help_Term, Help_Desc
Trying to sort by Help_ID fails. The application tries to sort by HELP_ID rather than "Help_ID". Quotation marks may need to be added have the proper functionality.

Although not a fix, I have found a work-around for people to use in the meantime. Using the filter field, I was able to sort the way I wanted (although not a very elligant method).
Filter: 1=1 ORDER BY "My_Column" ASC
I could not just put the ORDER BY clause in the filter field, but since I'm guessing that Oracle Developer is just building queries in the background, I tried to 'trick it' to take what I wanted.

  • UPPER and lower case file extensions for Photo Shop Elements using Windows 7

How do I persuade WIndows 7 to show both UPPER and lower case file extensions, which is a very useful facility offered by my ancient, 2002, version of Photoshop Elements? When processing large volumes (100 plus) photos it is very useful to be able to spot those that have been processed among those awaiting my gentle touch. The JPEG file extension produced by my camera is UPPER case so by using "Save as" with lower case the modified photos are immediately spotted. This worked fine on Windows XP and the same programme has loaded and works well on my new laptop which came loaded with Windows 7 EXCEPT that it persists in using UPPER case all the time, irrespective of the preference settings in PSE. HELP!

In PSE there is a facility "File > process multiple files".
Using this facility you can actually process multiple files at one go and you can easily rename images.

  • Upper/Lower case conversion

    Hi folks,
Apart from the Infoobject General tab where an infoobject can be selected to allow Lower case letters, are there any other areas where this can be done? We need to allow this for a standard infoobject and thinking is that we can change this at some other level such as do a conversion at the datasource level so only uppper cases flow through. This is a char field but can contain both Upper cases and Lower cases. Right now, with the standard infoobject the DTP load fails when trying to load the data with lower case characters.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi,
As mentioned above you will have to use TRANSLATE command to do the conversion. Now you can either write a routine at Infoobject level or write a field routine for conversion. In case of infoobject routine again you might have to change the original infoobject so I would suggest you to go for Field level routine in transformation.
    RESULT = source_fields-XYZ.
    TRANSLATE RESULT TO UPPER CASE.

    Durgesh.

  • Upper and lower case headache

I'm facing a rather challenging situation where I think I
    need help.
If I'm given an address string, I need to make sure they're
showing up in our applicaion in a proper cases, for example: If I
have an address such as 123 WHATEVER AVE. SOMECITY CA 91827 (no
    comma) or
H123-303, WHATEVER AVE., SOMECITY, CA 91827, USA (with comma)
    or
similar address but all with lower case, I need to make it
    proper such as:
    1. 123 Whatever Ave. Somecity CA 91827 OR
    2. H123-303, Whatever Ave. Somecity, CA 91827, USA
Is there a way to do this?

    Yes, but not easily.
Where you have to start is to:
    1) look at lots and lots and lots of different examples of
    the data you
    expect to get.
    2) The start working out the rules for how you would case the
    string as
    desired.
    3) Start to realize that these rules are going to long,
    complex and have
    tons of exceptions.
    4) Go back to whoever is paying you to do this and make sure
    they want
to pay you this much for some pretty formating. And suggest
    there is
really a reason that large organizations like the US Postal
    service deal
with such strings by making them ALL CAPS!
    5) If they come back yes, look around to see if anybody has
    already
tackled this well and if you can afford their solution.
    6) Start to work out your logic tree for the rules you
    developed.
    7) Sell this to all future people who do not want to work
    this hard to
solve such a complex and challenging problem.

I have a report in upper case and I need it in lower case. How do I change it to lower case with out typing the report over?

You are using Pages for iPad I take it?
Pages does not have a case conversion function. The one under the Format menu switches Unicode glyphs as part of a style but requires the text to be originally in lowercase.
Go to the App Store and see what you can find as a 3rd party converter. I don't have it but am sure there will be a TextEditor of some description to do the job.

  • Uppercase / Lower case Flag in Function Modules

I want the upper case / Lower case flag to be checked active by default when we execute my function module. How can we achieve ?

The checkbox is a part of FM TEST Framework and any changes can't be made to it. Also, while calling through program it will come into picture.
If you want text in specific case
    1. Check the domain lowercase property of the data element to be used in import parameters.
    2. Use TRANSLATE statement to change case inside the FM.
