FUNCTIONAL AREA IN CONTROLLING

Hi all,
can I start using the "Functional Area" field in Cost Centres without activating PCA?
Someone is telling me that it is a requirement to activate PCA so that you can use this field in the Cost Centre Accounting module.
Can anyone help me on this?

Hi,
You dont need  "PCA "Functional Area". Functional Area. F is an other way to report on.
When you use an old version from SAP it not compleet implemented, I think it is compleet from ERP2004.

    HI
    Dear Guru's
Kindly explain me the ,the differenec between Functional area and credit control
    area, with examples.
    with regards
    Arun Kumar

    Hi Arun Kumar,
    Functional Area :
It organize your business for cost of sales accounting.  It allow you to segregate and classify different types of costs within one expense account.  For e.g. a single labour account to determine what amount of labour is spent directly on production as compare to sales or hr.
    OKBD - Maintain Functional Area
    Credit control area:
An organisational unit that represents an area responsible for granting and monitoring credit.
outstanding recievables can spoil the business process. to
control credit limits in sap system we can configure credit
    control area.
one company code can hav one credit control area only
but one credit control area can hav many company codes
i.e. u can assign one credit control area to many company
    codes.
the relationship is one to many.

  • Field status control for GL master account - Functional area

We have activated cost of sales accounting. Thus, the functional area field now appears on the GL account Chart of Acct screen. Is there a way to 'hide' it or keep it as 'display only'?
    Let me know.
    Thanks.

    Hey Vishal,
I have been trying to find a solution to your problem.
Since we dont have Cost of Sales accounting module. I am just comprehending that your solution might be in Tcode OB26. See if you can see change functional area field to display or supress it.

  • Enter Functional area in KB31N

    Hi,
Would anyone be knowing how to bring Functional area in KB31N?
I don't see the option of adding functional area in KB31N as a receiver in - - -  SPRO>Controlling>Cost Center Accounting>Define Own Screen Variants for posting in Controlling.
    Regards,
    Khyati

Just a note that I am able to use functional area in FAGLSKF but it does not serve my purpose. CO Distribution cycle is not considering cost center/functional area entered in FAGLSKF.

  • Problem of Functional Area in Allocation

    Dear All
We want to allocate some ADMIN Cost Centres which have "x" Functional Area with Secondary Cost Element (SCE) which *does not*  have any Functional Area to BRAND Cost Centre which doesnot have any Functional Area using a Secondary Cost Element (SCE) which has "Y" Functional Area.
The Cycle is Dr & Cr the correct cost Centre, and forcing both Functional Are,so in the P&L report in the collector cost centers we see a debit still sitting in FA X (because it didnu2019t clear) and a credit in FA Y (because it was forced).
We tried everything within the cycle to make this work correctly; derive functional area checked and unchecked, each with forcing correct sender and receiver functional areas within the cycle and even removing the functional area from the SCE "Y" with various options above, but still the problem persists,Can any one Guide how to do ,is there any Note available
    Thanks

    HI,
check SAPNET note 764485, especially point 2 and 3:
"2. Set the functional area derivation of characteristics so that the functional area is already derived on the entry screen, and not when you are posting as is the case in earlier releases. For more information, see Note 740519.
To capitalize the functional area derivation on the entry screen, proceed as follows: Financial Accounting (New) -> Financial Accounting Basic Settings (New) -> Tools -> Customer Enhancements -> Enhance Determination of Functional Area.
    3. To set the update of the functional area in the CO totals tables, proceed as follows: Controlling -> General Controlling -> Include Characteristics in CO Totals Records. You can activate the update of the characteristics can independently."

  • Derivation of functional area in CO

    Hi all,
CO postings with the use of the functional area are incorrect because:
    - the validity dates of the functional area (settings made in FM_Function) should prevent me from making postings in CO in certain cases. For example, I'm making internal CO postings (KP06) for the year 2008 period 12 and the functional area is valid until 2007 period 12. The system lets me register the postings. In the other hand, such a control is effective in FI because a FB60 execution controls the date with the functional area validity period.
For me it's a bug. Can you help me to identify it?
    Thanks in advance
    Pascal

    Hi Lakshman,
    1. For activation/deactivation of Cost of Sales Accounting, the path is IMG - Financial Accounting - Finacial Accounting Global Settings - Company Code - Cost of Sales Accounting - Activate COst of Sales Accounting for Preparation
    2. You can derive Funcational Area by maintaining Substituation Rules and Activating them. Follow the path  - IMG - Financial Accounting - Finacial Accounting Global Settings - Company Code - Cost of Sales Accounting -  Set up Substitution for Cost of Sales Accounting - Define Substitution.
After define substitution, activate the same.
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Postings in wrong Functional Area

    Hi,
I have a complicated scenario, i have a service purchase order for a cost center C111 which as a Functional Area F101, during invoice i had changed the cost center to C222 and changed the Functional Area to F101, where the cost center C222 belongs to F202 functional area. The postings have done been and payments was made to the vendor. Now in cost center and profit center report with functional area shows wrong value meaning it should showed as cost center C222 and FA F202, but now the costing reports is incorrect with comibination of C222 and F202
Now how can i make correction postings, logically the amount should be posted to C222 with F202. I tried in manual reposting and several other options, but failed. We are in ECC 5.0.
Can somebody help me out in solving this issue.
    Thanks

  • Cost center planning by functional area

    hi gurus,
The client needs to do manual planning in CO (KP06) by cost center/cost element/fund/functional area. This data is later gets rolled up in FM to formulate the budget data. The client wants to enter all the account assignment manually except for functional area. They want that system automatically derive the functional area based on the cost center (one to one relationship). I tried the CO substitution but this functionality is only for actual data and not plan data. Any suggestion how I can derive the functional area in CO planning based on cost center?

    Hi,
Functional area is required for cost of sales accounting in Finance. It has got nothing to do with Cost Center planning. Functional area shall not be visible in controlling. Pl update this constraint to the client and go ahead with Cost center/cost element planning with necessary one to one relationship with Fund center, etc.
    Trust this helps much!
    Cheers!

  • Enable Functional Area field in PA30 Info type 0001 Screen

    Hi,
I need to enable Functional Area (PA0001-FKBER) field in info type 0001 screen of PA30 and the functional area should pick up value corresponding to cost centre.
I unhide the field in T588M table, but still i dont see the field in PA30 Info type 0001 Screen,
Can someone please let me know what other settings need to be activated for enabling functional area in 0001 screen.
    Awaiting quick response.
    Thanks.
    Sudha

    Dear Shuda,
Please check the attached note 763962,798840,701933,755796 and 822157
    Also,
If Funds Management and Controlling are updated in an integrated way such that the cost center is always the leading account assignment and the fund center is derived, the HR must not (and does not) support the maintenance of derived information (such as fund center). Thus there are the following three possible scenarios:
    - Funds Management (FM) is not active.   -> HR doesn't show Fund Center
    - FM is active but without CO-Integration-> HR shows Fund Center
    - FM is active with CO Integration       -> HR doesn't show Fund Center
These scenarios can be maintained with time dependence (active from-dates): There can be a period for the first, a second time interval for the second and a third time interval for the last scenario.
    Hope this help
    Sarah

  • Functional Area does not allow to change  in CJ20N initially

We are on ECC 5.0 an have made fields Functional Area as required field along with other fields (e.g. Company code, Profit Center, Dates etc.) in Project Definition.
During project creation, all the required fields in Project Definition shows up for edit except the Functional Area. Functional Area field is greyed out. After I populate all the required fields, Functional Area fields shows up for edit before save.
Does anybody have encountered this problem? Your help is truely appreciated.

    Hi Sanjaya,
Company code is a superior structure element and as such you need to define it first and than go ahead for selecting Functional area.
Due to this logic, first system prompts you to choose company code, profit center etc. and once the values are entered into the internal table for project structure and project controlling it provides option to choose lower level structural elements like Functional area.

  • SAP GRC AC: Functional Areas and Point of Contact

    Dear all.
We are configuring the functional areas and i would like to know how to map a user (Point of Contact) for each functional area.
    Regards and thank you.

    Dear Sara,
according to definition Point of Contact is an approver for a specific Functional Area. Functional Area is an attribute used to categorize users and roles.
First of all you need to assign a user to role Point of contact in Access Control Owners application.
Next you can use them in MSMP configuration as using following FM: GRAC_MSMP_POINT_CONTACT_AGENT.
Let me know, if you require further assistance,

    Hi,
There are certain preliminary steps to be carried out in ECCS. You can find them under SPRO->Enterprise Controlling->Consolidation->Integration: Preparation for Consolidation.
You need to choose the type of consolidation, create Company, link it to Cons Unit in ECCS, Creating/Copying FS Items (each account in Group COA will have an FS Item; 1:1),  etc.,
After the setup, you actually need to carry out Rollup or Flexi Upload for importing FI data into ECCS FS Items. This is done to Data Monitor - CXCD.
In ECMCT, typical selections would be Dimension, Cons Unit, Cons COA, FS Item.
I suppose these preliminary steps are requried for the data to flow to FS Items.
    Hope this clarifies.

  • FM area & Functional area

    Hi
what is the exact use of Financial Management area and Function area in FI and Controlling
    thanx in advance

    Hello Aparna,
In the SAP System, you can define organizational units specific to your business, in each case from the specific viewpoint of the relevant application.
    Example:
In the Financial Accounting application (FI), you can define organizational units from the accounting point of view.
In the Cash Budget Management application, you can define organizational units from the financial point of view.
Due to the high level of integration in the SAP System, you must link these organizational units across the applications, by assigning them to each other.
    Financial Management Area
In Cash Budget Management, you will be working with financial management areas (FM areas) not company codes.
The FM area is the commercial organizational unit, within which cash budget management and financial budgeting are conducted. It structures the business as viewed from Cash Budget Management.
In order to take advantage of the integration in the SAP System, you must link your FM areas with organizational units in other applications. For example, if, when creating a financial accounting document, you assign it to, say, a commitment item, the system has to determine an FM area before it can transfer the data to Cash Budget Management. For this to happen, you must define how the relevant FM area is to be determined.
The FM area is determined from the company code. You assign FM areas to the company codes where you want to carry out cash budget management. One or more company codes can be assigned to an FM area.
    ============================================================
Functional areas-A functional area is a classification of financial transactions, providing information about overall purposes or objectives for each transaction. Similar activities are grouped by functional area, based on high-level objectives for providing major services or accomplishing regulatory responsibilities. Organizations may establish functional areas that are at a lower level than those required for external reporting. Functional area groups must then be used.
Example of functional area could be sales, R&D etc.
Hope this helps. please assign points.
