  • MSI FX5600 TD256 Problems

Hi all. This is my first time on these boards and must say the info i have got from it is outstanding. Keep it up.
    I need some help.... I use an MSI KT4 Ultra via KT400 chipset based M/B with an AMD XP2600+. 1024MB 2700 ram. MSI FX5600 TD256mb G/C. 120gb H/D. Thermaltake power supply 480w. Water cooled.
My problem is that the PC starts up and runs ok for a while but all of a sudden the monitor goes blank. The CPU fan still runs but all else fails. ie, case fans, CD drives, etc.
The only way i can get it to work again is by removing the G/C and reinserting again. It makes no difference if i just turn off all power to the PC. This again works fine for a while and then it happens again?
Can anyone tell me if this is a common problem or what it could be. I have seen others mention the power supplies but mine is not the cheap type and surely 480w is ample?
I am sorry if something here is not listed. Let me know if any other info is required and i will post.
I forgot to say. I have put in an old G2 G/c from my old system for now and have not had a problem so i can assume it is something to do with the G/C?
I do not know if i need new drivers or BIOS? I can never get into the MSI live update for this. Does anyone know how to get them and especially for the BIOS, how do you instal them (in detail, I do not want to dammage anything).
    Thanks in advance
    MSI KT4 Ultra-FISR (MS6590). MSI FX5600 TD256 256mb. AMD XP2600+. 1024mb 2700 ram, (2x 512). 120gb maxor h/d. Thermaltake Xaser11 case + 480w p/s. Water cooled. Win XP pro

Hi there. Since you are talking about flashing BIOS's, may I ask a question? (OK, another one.  )
I was looking through some of my old downloads on my hard drive and in my MSI folder, I came across an upgraded BIOS for my MSI Ti4200-VTD64 (MS-8870). The file is GF4Ti4200_4.25.00.37_250_500.rom, but I did not have an installer for it. I searched the MSI web site, but I didn't even see this file. I wouldn't have put it in that folder unless it came from MSI, so my question is, does anyone know how to install it, or where I can get an installer for it?
    Thanks
(...and yes I'm familiar with the possible perils of flashing  )

  • FX5600-VTDR128 problems

I'm having problems with my new MSI GeForce FX5600-VTDR128. When playing games, the graphics locks up for approx 20 sec's and unlocks for about 3 sec's. this cycle can repeat continuously. Sometimes the game doesn't resume and I had to hit the reset button. I've upgraded to the Detonator 44.03 drivers. I also checked IRQs and the video card is using IRQ 19 which is not shared with anything else. I am using DX9. I moved the card to another machine and the same thing occurs in the other machine. I can't see the card being faulty as it works in all other instances. I have checked the bios settings and I can't see any problems. The system board is a K7N2-ILSR as indicated below. Can anyone help with this problem? Could there be a VGA BIOS bug, and if so, is there a BIOS fix for it? Help please
     ?(  ?(  ?(  ?(  ?(  ?(  ?(

    snorbitz,
I am having a similar issue with my FX5600-VTDR128.  My games continue to run, but the images appear to \"smear\" or \'pixelize\'.  It is difficult to explain.  I play Wolfenstein and Mechwarrior Mercenaries.  In Wolfenstein, the images drawn on screen look great, as long as there is no movement.  As soon as sometime moves, parts of the moving object are drawn in random places on the screen.  For example, a sliver of the arm might be drawn diagonally from the top right to the center of the screen.  These instances happen very quickly, and the 'misdraw' is almost like a strobe effect.  In Wolfenstein, when the game really gets going, it is nearly impossible to play.  Same with Mercenaries.
I have the latest DirectX, and I have the latest nVidia drivers.  My mobo is an ASUS A7M-266 and I run an Athlon 1.4 Ghz with 512 DDR.
This problem is quite frustrating, since I bought the new card mostly for gaming purposes.  If is doesn't get fixed, it'll go back to the seller.

  • FX5600-VDTR128 problem

I have just bought an FX5600-VDTR128 to replace my GeForce3 after a review in MicroMart a couple of weeks ago.  My problem is that Windows XP crashes after a couple of seconds if I increase the display resolution beyond VGA.  More than that, the screen corrupts and locks up after a short while in VGA.
I have used DriverCleaner to clean out the old drivers, and have tried the display drivers that came on the MSI CD and the latest drivers (4403) downloaded from the MSI driver site.
My system is a twin 1GHz PIII on an ABIT VP6 motherboard with 1GB RAM, running Windows XP Pro with SP1.
I know that the card is functioning correctly as it works fine with the NVidia drivers with Linux Mandrake 9.1 (hence my message now).
Has anyone else had problems with the FX5600-VDTR128 and XP Pro?
    Andy Tuson

    I dunno
    I took it in today
    nothing was wrong
it ws running 3d mark 2001 for about 40 minutes
    (1024 by 768 by 32)
And it ran WCIII well too
I got it home, tried it
    (3d Mark for about 15 minutes, 1280 by 1024)
    and WCIII (1280 by 1024)
    worked fine too
I dunno what it could be.
    It seem fine now
    the only changes was
we moved the ram from the first slot to the 3rd (green)
and I got another stick in there, on the second,so the first is blank.
    might try that.

  • GF FX5600 Major Problem

Hi, i bought my GF5600 128 about a month ago, ive had no problems with it until tonight.  I turned on my pc, it booted up and the screen was all funny colours and all messed up with bright pink and green blocks all over the place  :(
I havent made any hardware changes or anything and had been using the 4403 drivers with no problems. I've tried rolling back the drivers, uninstalling and reinstalling, nothing has worked.  Ive also tried removing the card and re-seating it, that hasnt worked either
Can anyone help or do i have to return the card as faulty?
My specs are:  Athlon Xp2000+, MSI KT3 Ultra2-r, 512mb PC2700, 80gb HDD, Windows XP and the product number for my card MSI 8912,  MSI FX5600 TD128
    Thx

Maybe the system RAM might be loose in the slots, try reseating and test it with memtest86 to see if you get any errors.
No Joy? I would try the card in another machine or try a comparable card to troubleshoot in the problematic rig, If I had the hardware, that's what I would do, I'd even call a friend that has similar hardware.
It should become obvious what's next.
    Keep us posted plz....

  • FX5600-vtdr128,Problem with games

I have FX 5600 installed in a GA-7N400 Pro2w/ 8xagp, mother board with athlon 2700, 512 mb, and 80gbHD. I am having a problem getting Battlefield 1942 to run. I have tried all combinations of video cards, ATI7500, ATI 8500 and the same board setup and it works fine. I install the 5600 and it won't. Keeps asking for cd. Is there an issue that anyone knows about that would cause this problem.
    Thanks

Are you saying that your PC is asking for a driver disk? If windows is asking for a driver disk then download the latest drivers for your OS from nVidia. download and install the driver cleaner program.
Remove all drivers from Add-Remove programs then run driver cleaner (MAKE SURE THAT YOU READ DOCUMETATION THAT COME WITH DRIVER CLEANER) and Then install the nVidia drivers.
If this is not what you are looking for then you will need to uninstall your game and reinstall it
that game ran just fine for me when I had a FX5600
make sure that when you install drivers that all Anti Virus is off and don't use a download accelorator when downloading drivers
    I hope this helps

  • FX5600-td256 Problem

    Right here goes..
Basically, after windows is installed. It uses its own driver to operate the card etc. I can watch DVD's run screen savers and even play the cheesy games u get with XP.
However, when the driver that is shipped with the card is installed, or I install the latest drivers from the nVidia download section, whenever I goto to play a dvd, do some graphic work etc, the system locks up, either restarts or just runs like sh**e.
I have come to the conclusion the card is knackered,,, or there is some incompatibilty with the board i am using.
I have installed all the latest via drivers, installed all latest graphics card drivers and even updated my bios.
I have the named graphics card and a DFI Lanparty KT400a Mobo

  • FX5600-VTD256 VGA adapter problems

I have a 875P Neo-FIS2R mainboard, and have recently fitted a FX5600-VTD256 VGA card. Ever since my screen freezes and intermittently my monitor blanks and looks for all intense and purposes like Power saver has put the monitor into standby, but the only way I can recover from this is to reset the Pc. I have installed the card as per the instructions.
    Please can anyone help?
    thanks

Increase your DDR voltage to 2.7v ~ 2.8v and make sure that you do clean un-installation of your old VGA drivers and freshly re-install the drivers for the new card.
Please kindly follow Danny's instructions on the creation of signature for your own sake as it'll proves greater helps for others on providing you more accurate advices if you encounter more problems(hope not).

  • FX5600 + Elite Force 2... Texture Problems??

Hey guys, im running the full version of EF2 and am having some problems with a few textures.
    I Have:
    AMD Athlon XP 2500+
    Asus A7N8X Deluxe
    1024 PC 3200 DDR RAM
    80GB Western Digital Hardrive
    Onboard nVidia nForce Sound
    MSI GeForce FX5600 VTDR-128
    DX 9
    nVidia ForceWare 52.16 Drivers
Some of the walls, dorrs, people.. are solid colours rather than being textures, and when i walk around they are the solid colours sometimes and other times they are the proper textures.
Ive tried turning off vertex lighting, and it didnt work. I also tried playing around with all of the lighting settings but all the configurations I tried resulted in these messed up textures. Oh, and when I turn on nightvision, they all work.
Here are a few screenshots of this i took.

i am running with them off, when i turn them on there is no difference in these textures and the game runs very slow with them on.
ive also tried almsost every possible configuration with the games lighting settings and still have no luck.
So far the game has been really fun, i especially like the storyline. if u can borrow it from a friend or download it, id highly reccoment playing it, if your gonna pay for it, i wouldnt get it because its multiplayer probably wont last long.

  • FX5600 Drivers Install Problem

I finally got the FX5600 128 working after tossing out the old MSI MOBO, which only had a AGP4x, and replacing it with a GA-7N400L running a high end  Athlon and 1G of dual channel RAM. After all, it is Christmas   - Using WinXP/ SP1
    Anyway, here's the problem:
Drivers install fine. PC does a restart, all is well. The FX5600 does what it is supposed to.
But when I do a COLD START,  the installed MSI/nVidea drivers disappear and I'm back to the defaul Windoze VGA drivers.
Essentially, if I switch the PC off and then cold start I need to re-install the FX5600 driver software.
Any ideas for a fix out there?
    TIA

That's better, or at least on two cold restarts so far, so good.

  • DVI-problem with old card (GF fx5600)

My old AGP-card fried, so I got a used FX5600-VTDR128 from a friend (who never had any problems with it) and plugged it in. It seems to run fine on analog D-sub, but when I try to use the DVI-port the dark parts of the screen is filled with green flickering vertical lines (sort of, hard to describe), and the whole screen occasionly flickers, as if updating resolution. This happens as soon as the boot screen appears when the computer is turned on, so I guess it's not a driver problem. sometimes it dissapears if I fiddle with the resolution for a bit, but it returns the next time whenever i turn the screen off and back on again.
I know the card is old, but it would be nice if I got it to work anyway. Any suggestions?

  • Problems with X-wing Alliance and FX5600-VTDR128

I recently switched video cards from a GeForce 2 to a FX5600-VTDR128.  After the change, I've found that the in-mission text in LucasArts' X-Wing Alliance game has become all garbled.  Has anyone else run into this, and if so, have you found a solution to it?  Thanks!

    Hi All.
I have the same problem here and there are other people complaining about it here in Brazil
    http://pub32.ezboard.com/fcimffrm8.showMessage?topicID=200.topic
(brazilian forum, please try to translate it using google language tools)
I bought this card together with a new P4 system and was happy to play XWA again with it. The game runs perfectly except for those unreadable in-game text messages. My english is not to good so I need the text to perfectly understand the mission objectives and hints.
Well, the game worked 100%  with my old P3 with a Geforce 2 MX for three years. It seems like the problem is known by "professional XWA Players"  but nobody has a fix or a workaround to this problem.
I tried all patches (v.2.01 and v.2.02) for XWA  and the following drivers from NVIDIA:
    Detonator 45.33
    Forceware 52.16
    Forceware 56.72
I hope someone from MSI or NVIDIA read this thread  to help verify where the problem resides, and why just FX 5200 and FX 5600 customers are affected.
In time...X-Wing Racer  and Unreal tournament 2004 Demo works great here!
    My system
    2.4Ghz P4C
    Asus P4P800 BIOS REV. 1016
    MSI FX5200-T128 video card

    Windows XP SP1
    Thanks!

  • FX5600 problems - linux/redhat/knoppix install

Anyone any ideas about a tendency of FX5600 (128 meg) to underdrive on install and return the wrong (low) V and H freqs to the X server?
Works ok on normal (knoppix wallpaper ok before boot) and works ok on text only . . . but can't boot the X server.
Already tried setting the vfreq (60mHz) at the boot prompt ... no help
    Any ideas?

Do you have version 1.3.1_X installed on your machine, in addition to 1.4.1, which is required for JWSDP 1.2? I had a similar problem on Windows and I had to remove my 1.3.1 installation, even though the 'java -version' command showed 1.4.1 was used. Once I did this, it worked fine.

Thanks for the reply Richard and LionKing1467
    Richard,
I did load the mobo driver and the latest VGA driver (53.03) and I was prompt to  restart the system but still getting the same problem. It seems to me that the Windows won't recognize the driver as I keep on getting the same problem no matter how many times I instaled the mobo and VGA driver.
LionKing 1467, I did uninstall the vga from Device Manager and start all over again - load the mobo and VGA driver, still no luck.
Went back to Device manager to manually install the 53.03 and I got this message box thing - Files Needed: 'NV4_mini.sys on win cabinet needed'
I need to get this thing fixed. please help me out
    TIA
