FYI - FeedBack Sent to Apple
Just thought I would let the group know I just sent a Feedback message to Apple. I indicated I would do this earlier this week and here is my follow up to that promise.
FEEDBACK Sent Today:
First let me say, I Love the Touch and I am proud to own another Apple product. That being said, there are a couple things which would make it just that much better and is probably the 2 most complained/requested Feature Enhancements.
F1: Add a program for NOTES, kinda like the yellow sticky notes we all love and hate.
F2: Enable the Calender on the Touch to be free forming, where you can access and input into it via the Touch, instead of the way it is now, which is view only.
I think you would just tickle everyones fancy on those 2 features alone. Yes there are others, but they are hit and miss, unlike these 2 which are widely sought after. I ran a 1 day poll and had over 400 hits saying they agreed with me on this. So I'm not coming empty handed, but with the masses!
Thank You for such a great product! So, do you think you can slide in an update with these features turned on, say by Christmas? Would make for a nice stocking stuffer!!

Good point there! Touch should have the cabability to able to write notes via the virtual keyboard. As for the calander same thing. I would not want to make a schedule on the computer and transfer it to my touch all the time, very annoying i'd say, the fact that for cell phones you can do that ( I guess some phones can and some can't, but I'm not 100% sure on it, since I live in Korea, all Korean Phones have that capability).

If you are asking about a photo book in iPhoto, what was the last you did in iPhoto, before the crash happened? Did you add a page with a map?
Then you may have a problem with a bug, where adding a route to a map may render the book unreadable. In that case the best option is to restore the iPhoto library from the last backup you made, before you added the map to the book.
It is not possible to open the book and to delete the unreadable page. You can only delete the book and start over, if this bug is the reason for the crashes. See for example this link: Getting rid of problem photo book -
After installing Mountain Lion, I tried to scan from my Canon MX870 and received the message: "MP Navigator EX quit unexpectedly. Click Reopen to open the application again. A report will be sent to Apple," This problem happened right after I installed Mountain Lion. I then downloaded Canon's upgraded software and drivers for the MX 870 and the problem was resolved. Now one month later, the problem has returned.

You should still use Image Capture IMHO. If it was my gear, that's what I would do. No need to worry about software upgrades. -
How to make text formatting stick on book cover when sent to Apple or to PDF?
In iPhoto '11 (version 9), one can format text on book covers and in text blocks by selecting the text and right clicking. Font, size, color, and shadowing can be selected and changed. All of this displays correctly and sticks when the book is saved, etc. However, if the book is "previewed" or exported to a PDF (which I believe is the format sent to Apple for actual printing) some of the formatting is lost, permanently. It just goes away. Why? And, more importantly, how can I make this formatting stick? I'm mainly interested in shadowing as it gives the text a 3d look. All shadowing is lost - font and size do stick. I have successfully done this shadowing in several previous releases of iPhoto, and actually had it printed by Apple. Any ideas out there? Or is this another wonderful "feature" ?
Thanks for playing.Sorry LN, but that is the problem. When I do either the preview or the export to PDF, the shadow formatting disappears. There is another forum discussion where some person discovered this only after receiving their three hard cover books. I'm pretty sure it is a bug. I have Snow Leopard and iPhoto '11 (v9) both with latest updates.
One other note - when applying the text shadow, anytime I adjust either of the three shadow sliders, the shadow disappears and I must click on the main shadow button to make the adjusted shadow reappear. As I said, it does then stick until I do either the preview or PDF as described in the article you referenced. Very, very, very annoying.
Will try to contact Apple today, although I have had very poor luck with ever getting them to admit to any problem in the past. ( pride goeth before the fall....). Hope they will listen, but I have a close deadline on this book. -
I occasionally get an error that forces me to shut down/restart my computer. After restart, a message pops up stating that an error has occurred and a report will be sent to Apple. This has been going on for several months, and Apple has never contacted me about this problem. Other than the forced shutdown/restart, I have had no problems with Garage Band.

Second prob: Fan sometimes comes on, runs high speed, then slowly runs down and stops running.First thing to do is a SMC Reset, you can find instructions at:

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!!!
Then try Repairing Disk Permissions, do this at least 2x. You will find this in Disk Utility which is located in Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility.
Finally you may need to uninstall Garage Band and reinstall. You may have to use Pacifist to do this, you can find it at:

Looks like no-one is able to get to the bottom of this very annoying issue including Experts Exchange who I signed up for to see the answer they had given (their website is ranked highly in Google for this problem).

I'm using mac original mail software. I did set my HTML style template. The software is best ever.
And works good when I send email to outlook users on PC. However if I attach PDF for example, it does go through and outlook users get it, however when they open message all they see.

Not everybody gets idea to open it and thy think it is empty email. The same email will be sent to apple user everything looks properly. Why email text is converting into the htm file? It happens only if i attach something to my message, if I don't then email text is not being converted to htm attachment.
I think there are a lot of user that know this issue, did anybody find a solution yet?

I don't think there is anything you can really do about it.
I think that it's how the receivers program is going to interpret it.
For example, I sent an email to my Outlook account from my Mac with just an attachment; no text. I looked at the email in Outlook 2000 and I see the attachment as an item in the body text section of the email. When I look at that same email in Outlook 2003 the attachment shows in the attachment area under the subject line and the body text area is blank.
Then I sent another one with an attachment and some text in the body of the email. In Outlook 2000 I see the text in the text area and the attachment as well as a attxxx file in an area at the bottom of the email. The att file was empty. In Outlook 2003 that same email as the attachment and the empty att file in the attachment area at the top and under the subject line and in the body text area of the email is the text that I typed.
Although Mac Mail uses standard protocols, which is why you can send an email to a Windows PC, it just does some different things. In the WIndows world Outlook and Outlook Express also handle some things differently.

Other client which are as good as the mail.app or would be nice to know what is forcing to convert body text to attachment? I could reduce beautiness of my email template by taking out header (jpg) or not using rich text. What exactly is forcing outlook to convert body to attxxxxx.htm file?

I truly don't know the answer to that question. Sometimes similar things happen coming the other way. I'll get emails in to my Mac Mail that have jpg files and I'll see the actual pictures in the body of the email.
I happen to also have Office 2008 for the Mac installed and when I sent my self a message and looked at it in Outlook 2000 and XP, the email looked "normal" in all instances. The attachment was marked as an attachment, text was where it should be and no att file.
There are other email clients that would probably work on the Mac like Thunderbird... but I'm guessing that you'd have a similar thing as happens with mac mail. Still it might be worth the download to test it out.

I used entourage and same HTML template for email and have no problems. It is just so that entourage is as any other MS product "broken" out of the box but did good job and same message is not being converted to HTML attachment when it goes to outlook on PC. I will continue researching internet because it has to be solved. I can't send a message to client without comment to attached invoice. This is so not professional. I will play more with settings of mail.app to see what else can be done to avoid conversion.

Entourage probably works well with Outlook because they're both MS products and MS is going to have somewhat similar looks to all their Office products... although there is quite a bit of difference between Entourage and Outlook.

Photos are split in 2 files when sent by Apple Mai, why?
Anybody encountered the same problem?
if sending a photo by mail, my web.de account would show the recieved email with 2 files instead of one!!
Also if I send photos to my msn.com account, there appears the same phenomenon.
I can't open these 2 files with my Windows Pc, but if loading them to my Powerbook, I can open one file (the photo) but the other file would appear as a thumbnail and can't be opened by any program.
What's odd:
if I send a photo with apple mail in connection with iphoto, there would appear the same problem if choosing the original size of the photo.
BUT if I choose another size (big, or small for example) the
email arrives without any phenomenon. The photo is usable also in my Windows Pc then.
Another strange thing:
I use Apple mail/ entourage (on my Apple) for recieving emails. So if I send a photo with original size to myself (as an experiment) the programs actually show only 1 file as it should be. (Remember: the web.de account and the msn.com account would show the same email with 2 files instead!)
If loading the photo (any photo) manually by my web.de account and sending it with the web.de account the email would appear in every case with the one file (photo) as it should arrive.
Does Apple Mail have encoding problems? And why does my entourage program have the exactly the same problem???
Why doees the problem disappear if I change the photo size with iphoto in connection with Apple mail / entourage?I have to add something:
the two files the photo is split to are:
1) the bigger one is the jpeg file, the photo itself.
2) the smaller one is a TIFF file, which can be only displayed if loaded to my Powerbook. Its a miniature view / icon of the jpeg photo.
On the Windows Pc both files can't be displayed!
The pictures were taken with my Canon IXUS 800 IS and were imported through iphoto.
Another important thing I discovered:
Other photos, taken by other digicams make no trouble when sent by Apple mail or Entourage, ...

ATT00001.htm attachment in Outlook when sent with Apple Mail - SOLVED!

We recently discovered the problem where emails with attachments sent from Apple Mail were being received in Outlook, blank but with BOTH the attachment and the email itself as an ATT00001.htm attachment!
I've discovered that the problem kicks in if the attachment is placed BEFORE the email message! If I write an email and then add an attachment AFTERWARD, ie. below the text, there is no problem.
I hope this helps...Hi, you could try Universal Mailer plugin (http://noware-it.zxq.net), it solves this issue by correctly handling attachments. This also solves the problem for inlined images, which can now be correctly seen by recipients.
PS: following Apple's forum rules I have to state that, since I'm the developer of Universal Mailer, I might make some profits from it. Also, on the website you can find a free version of the plugin, which has some limitation but can be used to test its functionality. -

Connection problems: sent to Apple
In order to make iChat more reliable and to have less connection errors, I suggest we all hit the button " Sent to Apple" as much as possible, so Apple can fulfill its promis.
Well, let me tell you how my network is and that it works great!
1) I have my cable modem hooked directly to my TC by Ethernet as it sounds like you do.
2) I am also on a true 5 GHz 802.11n network... not 2.4 GHz "g" network! If you do have a new MacBook as I do, it is "n" ready. I had first setup a "g" network because I have an older iMac that is only "g", and it was really slow to transfer files to my TC.
3) So that is when I created a dual-band network. But I would only set up a dual-band network if you have a mix of "n" and "g" Macs, which I don't think you do? (to read more about dual-band, Apple talks about it in the PDF called designing a network)
4) Then my AppleTV is setup through iTunes on my MacBook. It works great, and on my "n" network, transfer is really fast between my AppleTV, MacBook, and TC. I am able to transfer a 500 meg file in about 90 seconds! I also transferred my 110 gigs of iTunes video to my TC for my MacBook to link to, to get it off my hard drive.
5) When I first tried copying files from my MacBook to TC by ethernet, I made sure to turn off my MacBook's WiFi. Just to make sure it was going by ethernet.
6) When I used the Apple Utility to setup my TC, I just followed it's automated settings. I didn't touch about any of the other settings, other then to make sure I selected a true "n" work, not a "g" compatible. I don't have the instructions in front of me now, but I think I recall where you select the 802.11 network speed (n, g, etc.), if you hold down the option key as you click on the pop-up menu, you'll see the "n" option.
Give that a try and let me know. I'll check this later when I am at home. -

iphoto not opening. error message sent to Apple automatically but no reaction so far. has anyone a similar problem?
All screen sabvers using Iphoto dossier stopped working and meade me aware of a problem with iphoto (from ilife 11).
I reinstalled ilife 11, but it was not successful.
Anyone got a good tip on this?

Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
