G580 wake-up problems

This is happened twice in the past couple of weeks. When I close the lid, the G580 goes to sleep, and normally when I lift the lid, it wakes up. But twice, it has failed to wake up. The power light is on, but the screen is totally black, and I don't hear any fan or hard drive noises.
Both times I've had to force-quit by holding down the power button and then restart.
Found this info in event viewer (in chronological order):
three Service Control Manager errors (before or as it was going to sleep):
Event ID 7011
Timeout (30000 milliseconds) reached while waiting for transaction response from the upnphost service; the FDResPub service; and the TimeBroker service.
Followed by Information: Kernel-Power. Event ID 42, task category 64. System is entering sleep, reason: button or lid.
Then, The WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped.
I can't pinpoint the exact time when I shut down and restarted, but around that time there were several more Service Control errors. I can post that info if it would be helpful.
After I restarted:
event id 6, error: Kernel-General
An I/O operation initiated by the Registry failed unrecoverably. The Registry could not flush hive (file): ''.
followed by:
Event 41, Kernel-Power
Task Category 63
Level: Critical
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.
I have no idea what is wrong. Can anyone help me figure this out? I can post more info from the event viewer if necessary.
Thanks.

hi mallomar,
i see...
Just keep me posted if something happened
Cheers!

  • Every morning I have a message saying my iMac has restarted due to a Sleep Wake Failure problem.  What is this and how do I fix it?

I have a new iMac14 with Yosemite.  Every morning I now find a message saying my iMac has been restarted due to a "Sleep Wake Failure" problem and that a problem report has been generated.  How do I fix this or even figure out what is wrong?

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

  • Mac Mini have a 1680x1050 wake up problem?

I have a mac mini that when connected to a 22 inch monitor with resolution of 1680 X 1050, the mini will sometimes wake from sleep or a display turned off with a gray - blank - screen. It is random - I then have to hit the on button to bring the video back. When I re-connected my 19 inch monitor with a 1280 x 1024 resolution, it works fine.  Is this a problem with the video card?  Thank you, JimFromElgin

  • Shut down and wake up problem

    Frustrating problems with my T410i (2518) with Win7 64bit.
First I can't get it shut down propertly, when shuting down from  inside windows it starts to shut down but never finish.
It stays with processor fan active and some of the LED's, like WiFi and Batery also the fingerprint reader led is active in green. Only way to shut down is to press and hold the power button, or just take off the batery.
Secondly, and most probably some how related to above, if the PC goes in to Sleep/Hibernate there is no way I can wake it up. Just to shut down like abowe and start from begining.
And more stratnge is that it goes down even if the current power scheme is set to _never_ shut down anything.
I tried to follow old post in the forum regarding similar problems but still the same...
System drivers is ans long as I can updated to latest versions.
The only thing I havent been sucessful with is the patch KB981112 - refused by Windows with the message "Application refused on this PC".
Any one got a hint of how to proceed?
    PS
Lenovo support has noting to say, except > "just make sure every thing is updated..."

Did you download the right version of the patch? There is one for x86 and one for x64 os versions. This is the right one you should try: 408196_intl_x64_zip.exe

  • MacBook wake-up problems

OK I'm a PC person so I don't know a lot about MacBooks but I've been helping an older lady with one that she got maybe a month or 2 ago at the most. It's had this problem ever since she got it and other then a software update to the o/s and printer software, nothing has been installed on it. The problem is, the computer does not want to wake up from sleep mode after it's sat for an hour or two with the lid closed. If you close the lid and wait a few minutes, and open it, it'll come right back on. If you let it set for a while, you gotta hold the power button down for about 8 - 10 seconds, let off it, then press it again and it'll wake up. This is all on battery power by the way. Mac OSX, 10.6.4, 2gb ram, 2.4 intel core duo processor. So..... trying to determine if this is a hardware issue being as this computer was just purchased and has always had this problem, or if there is some setting I am missing somewhere (don't see a lot of options and know nothing about command line commands to even try to troubleshoot it.). SOooooo any suggestions would be helpful, even if it's to take it back to the Apple store she got it from to have them check it. Thanks!!

    Alrighty well...
    Reset pram: check
    Reset smc: check
checked hard disk using whatever tool that was called in OS X... check
Didn't do the safe boot thing, the problem description didn't really match up to the reasons for doing that one according to the support site.
Still happening - I let it sit for ten minutes after each fix - opened it, ... still doesn't come on without powering down completely by holding power and hitting the power button again to turn it back on (where it will then resume from it's slumbering state).
OK SO ... Given that this is a practically brand new computer that is only used for Email (yes.. waste of computing power, I know.) and hasn't had anything really installed on it to mess it up in the first place, AND the fact that it was doing this from day 1........ Is this more then likely a problem with the aforementioned switch?? Probably gonna end up taking it to the apple store and throwing it at somebody next week ...

  • Wake up problem. I'm going crazy

It all started one month ago not so far. I think it was just making an upgrade on the OS, but I'm not sure.
In few words, when my mac pro wake up, it doesn't matter if there are software opened, a nas connection active, or it's just a simple mac gone on sleep, it seems that for a while all is fine, but after few seconds, the cursor change to "wait, I'm doing some ******* things" and it's all over.
The only chance I have to continue to use the mac is hard reset it (press 4 sec power button).
On a first basis I though to a software problem, so I deleted all and reinstalled the OS, starting from 0 (no user data import, no merge). Plain install, manual software reinstallation and merging the saved data of every software, keychain and few other things.
    Nothing to do.
I then changed the HD, thinking on some problem on it. It's a Western Digital, never had problem with them, but everything is possible, so today I get a 320GB seagate, and cloned my hd.
    Nothing to do.
I read some posts about corrupted power management file, so followed the suggestion (gave from an Apple Care supporter) and deleted the file.
    Nothing to do.
I tried some tool and diagnostic (that I recently get with a Mac Update bundle) and only after I discovered that on the original disks there is a tool to.
In both case, all is fine. The Apple one, extensive mode, return all is fine.
I really don't know what to do. It's a real frustrating thing the impossibility to cannot leave the mac in stand-by and resume without losing all the works.
The only other doubt I've is about the installation. My mac shipped with Tiger, and there was Leopard upgrade cd. When I reinstalled it, I used only the upgrade cd. Is it possible that some file is missing on the leopard dvd, and this is causing all the trouble?
I thought to some problem to my video card, since when mac wake up, I see the screen (I've two monitor) with the images scrabbled and multi colored. Dunno how to say it better - sorry, but I think I need to replace with an original part, is this right?
    Thanks for any suggestion.

Today I tried also memtest 4.21 as described in the install process memtest all 2.
It all fine, but I'm reporting some issue from my log like this:

  • Screen wake up problem/ tried everything-please help!

I have had the my G2 since September and have absolutely loved it. A couple of weeks ago, it seemed to get a little "twitchy" with some erratic touch screen behavior (delayed responsiveness, over responsiveness, etc). Then, one day, the "knock on" (double tap to wake up phone) feature quit. Then numerous apps began not working correctly. I uninstalled the 2 apps that have been installed in the last couple months as well as a few others and the problem didn't change. Then, went to put the apps back on and the "install" button in play store is unresponsive. The rest of the screen works fine, just not that little button. Also, the screen that drops down to tell you the notifications on the top bar is super finicky all of a sudden. Checked all settings, tweaked settings, rebooted, Did a hard reboot, safe mode, and factory reset. No resolve. I am not a "heavy" user, only about 10 apps total installed on my phone in the 7 months I've had it. Frustration is  mounting and I really don't want to have to take it in. I've already lost all of the settings and everything I had to personalize my phone…Taking it in is last resort. Please Help!

Let's get your LG G2 back to like new condition jess28540! I had similar issues with mine and I resolved by doing a hard reset (I understand that you have done this) and removing an application that was causing my phone to act erratic. What I recommend is doing a hard reset http://vz.to/1bEaoQu (factory reset), then install your third party application one at a time and test for a few hours before installing another application. This process will assist you identifying conflicting applications, then remove them for good and you should be OK. Keep us posted.

  • Strange Mac Pro (late 2013) Wake Up Problem

I used chrome browser on my Mac Pro last night and watched some YouTube videos. I stopped the video and put the computer in sleep mode without closing the chrome browser. Today, I tried to wake up the computer and something strange happened.
The Mac Pro appeared to be on because the YouTube video started to play. However, the sound only came out of its internal speaker and the two monitors were not awake. I could not login at all and had to do a hard shut down by pressing the power button for a few seconds.
Has anyone had the similar problem also? I contacted Apple Care and they asked me to do the usual SMC and PRAM resets, as well as booting into safe mode and then in normal mode.
This is the replacement Mac Pro already. The first one had boot problems when two monitors were connected. I took it to an Apple Store and a specialist examined it. He then talked to his team lead and both of them suggested I should return the Mac Pro ASAP. I saw some other user on this Forum had the same problem as well.

I just wanted to weigh in with my personal experience with Apple over the past 30-odd years. We are a small business and cannot afford a lot of tech support. However, like most businesses these days, you cannot survive for long without technology. We have had PCs and Macs over the years and have become 99.9% Mac run. I do not have issues with reliability with our Macs, which have performed in most cases flawlessly over the course of the last 10 years (prior experience was more problematic - in days prior to OS X and Intel). I have had many many PC issues even with a smaller subset of units. But I do not feel that my experience one way or the other is not demonstrative of either platform on a broad scale. My experience, like yours, is anecdotal at best. I am not doubting your experience with your Macs. I am doubtful that everyone experiences this.
So over all, my experience with our current crop  of 30 Macs from laptops to xserves is that they are extremely reliable, with very few, if any, crashes. Which is not to say we don't experience problems from time to time: hard drives fail, power supplies give out, RAM fails, and a myriad of other user-sourced issues all have happened. But the overall experience is that I can get 6-7 years of heavy use from our Macs, and 3-4 from our PCs. Each have their issues. But all technologies fail ultimately. I expect that. I find it equally hard to believe you did not have any issues with 12 years of PCs. But once again, my own experience is anecdotal and not conclusive. Which is why I try to refrain from painting either platform with a broad brush. I am grateful we have choices and that each of us can find what works for us.
I hope your experience improves and wish you luck in solving your current issues. BTW, I have found Apple Tech Support to be extremely helpful when we do have problems and I avail myself of their expertise freely. I am fortunate to live close to a thriving Apple Store with some really dedicated staff. One last thought, we just purchased a new Mac Pro (late 2013) model as well. It is a dream machine for us: powerful, fast, quiet and easy to configure. We are very happy with it!

    hi Arczi_Ghost,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
From the first video, it looks like there's a problem with the Windows Loader or a system file that's needed to load but fails. Since you already re-installed Windows, this is most likely not an OS issue.
    - Windows 7 Boot Process
From the second video, the flickering can be with the display (LCD) or wit hthe GPU / GPU driver. It's a bit early to tell without running some tests.
If you manage to boot Windows, can you try the following:
    1. Install Lenovo Solutions Center and run a full hardware scan on the PC.
2.. Alternatively, you can also manually install the following and run a quick test on the unit.
    - Lenovo Video Quick Test
    - Lenovo Motherboard Bus Quick Test
    - Lenovo Memory Test
    - Lenovo Storage Quick Test
    Edt: Fixed the links
Let me know how it goes.
    Regards

  • Wake-up problem

    Hi there,
    after I've updated to 10.4.9 I've a problem with my MacBook Pro 2,16 C2D.
Randomly my MacBook does not wake-up from sleep. This means that the display stay black but the rest of the machine makes normal noise. But if I press the caps lock button for example it does not light up. So the only way to solve this problem is to hold down the power key to shut down the MacBook. Randomly means that I have this problem after approx. every third sleep.
Till now I tried to repair my rights and I installed the combo update.
So I am really fed up with this. So please help me.
    Thanks in advance.
    MacBookPro 2,16 C2D   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Three possible options that might do the trick, the first two are simple and meant to be an option that does not require really any system preference changes:
    1. instead of hitting caps lock, hit return.
    2. try and make the screen bright again by the brightness keys in f1 and f2.
    3. go into to system prefs and select display. uncheck the adjust brightness feature of it is selected. Also, go into energy saver and within select options. uncheck automatically reduce brightness before sleep.
A final option is to simply close the screen and re-open it again after just about 1 second. I hope this helps and that the 3rd option fully takes care of it.

  • G580-Mousepad Problems

Hi, I recently bought a Lenovo G580, and have been having problems with the mousepad.
After a week or two of using the laptop, the mousepad stopped responding and made wild movements when I tried to use the mouse.
I used the onekey rescue system to restore the laptop to factory settings and this worked fine.
However, after a few weeks, the problem reoccured.
I have since reset the laptop to factory settings a couple of times and each time the problem reoccurs.
Thanks in advance for any help.

do you remember when the problem started? there may be some windows update causing it so i'm going to ask you to restore your computer.
