Galaxy Tab 2 10.1: Major Lag

Hey guys!
I've been working for a client that wants their content published both on the iOS and android platforms. We have successfully tested and released the app on the iOS platform but the android platform is not being consistent.
We have tried the different folio sizes in the following article by Bob! http://blogs.adobe.com/indesigndocs/2012/10/creating-dps-folios-for-android-devices.html
But to no avail, we cannot get any consistency. The Galaxy tab2 10.1 is almost unuseable. Take 3-4 seconds to swipe between pages. We also have a nexus 7 in the office, which works perfectly fine! Some latency issues, but it's not really that noticeable. All folio sizes within it's aspect ratio work great! The 10.1 tab2 however, is really disappointing.
I see some latency issues with other magazines on this tab, but no where near as bad as ours.
Has anoyone has a similar issue?
Oh and we're working in V24 if that's any help (no HTML overlays, no PDF, we removed these from the android versions although they are present in teh iPad versions).
We use the "smooth scrolling" page lay out. However, I've tested with a snap to page layout and we get the same issue on the galaxy tab 2.
The only other I can think of that may be helpful are:
Folios are right edged binded (Arabic publication)
There are many object states as there are about 30-40 words in each article that use a pop up of the english word translated when the word is tapped on.
When I delete these pop ups of the translations, the lag is no longer as bad. The folio becomes readable in the sense that it will only show latency on rare ocassions.
Everything from overlay pabel is rendered as "raster" when the option is available.
Hope someone can shed some light on this because the majority of users for the client that use the android devices are galaxy users. I mean the android market for them is pretty small as it is as most of their userbase have iPads but we still believe it's best not to ignore the android market. However, if the Galaxy 10.1 is going to remain like this...we will probably just have to drop the android version all together or make it a very basic non interactive version.
Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the swift response Alistair!
A little off topic here but I certainly prefer iOS. I like the fact that Android gives u more options to chose from when you are talking about customization and phone choices, but I think that may also be it's major flaw. I really don't know much about androids inner workings buut from what I've seen from these two devices and DPS, i really prefer the iOS platform.
I'm going to wait it out and see if anyone else has faced any of these issues and if there is a solution for it.
Until then I'll have to buy some time from the client which will be expensive on my behalf but I'd rather at least try to solve the problem than give up on it. If I cannot find a soultion I'll need to think of a workaround.
Again, thanks for the swift reply Alistair! I appreciate it! (I've been stalking my e-mail for replies haha).

  • Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro

I was told that Adobe Cloud Services (apps like Photoshop) could run on tablets like Samsung's Galaxy Tab PRO model and/or the Note Pro. Is this true? Anyone know?

People sometimes use the term Photoshop quite loosely and most people assume the full Photoshop software when it is mentioned.
    However Photoshop can mean:
    Photoshop (Windows or Mac only)
Photoshop Elements (Windows or Mac only)
Photoshop Touch - Mobile, iOS, Android photo editor | Download Adobe Photoshop Touch
    Photoshop Express - Android,Windows 8 (Windows 8 tablet and desktop only),iOS
    Photoshop Mix (iPad)
So, you cannot run the majority of Adobe software on your Samsung mobile device - only those specifically written for the Android operating system - currently Photoshop Touch and Photoshop Express.

  • "feeds and updates" widget causing major lag since froyo

    Hey guys,
Ive noticed that ever since I downloaded the Froyo OTA update last week, the "feeds and updates" widget is causing MAJOR lag issues. It takes several seconds to move from that screen that the widet is on, and trying to scroll through the widget is VERY slow and choppy. I have tried both the soft reset and the hard reset, without any improvement. If I remove the widget from the screen, my phone gets significantly faster, and the lag pretty much disappears, so Im pretty sure its that widget causing the problem. Has anyone else noticed this problem, and if so, is there any way to fix it?  I like using that widget for my facebook updates, and want to keep it!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S Fascinate and since the Froyo 2.2 OTA update last week, my phone turns into a brick as soon as I add my Facebook account to the Feeds and Updates widget.  The screen locks up, I can not scroll the wall up and down, and scrolling the screens left and right takes forever; they freeze between screens and everything lags to the point where the phone becomes useless.  I powered the phone down and up, took the battery out, no remedy.  A hard reset on the phone will make the phone usable again, but as soon as I add Facebook back to the Feeds and Updates widget, the phone starts locking up again.  Called Verizon and they reached out to Samsung who thought there was a glitch during the download of the 2.2 software, so Verizon sent me a replacement phone of the same make and model.  As soon as I activated it, it told me Froyo 2.2 was ready to be downloaded to the phone for updating.  Did that, everything was working fine UNTIL I added my Facebook account to the Feeds and Updates widget; the phone started lagging and locking up as the previous one did.  I'm waiting to talk to Level 3 support with Samsung as I write this.  Please note, if I reset the phone and don't add my Facebook account to the Feeds and Updates widget, the phone is usable.  However, I did notice that in Vibrate Mode with text message and email notification, the vibration barely lasted a millisecond; I could not feel the vibrations in my pocket.  In my opinion, this 2.2 update is flawed and needs re-working.  I had no issues with this phone with the 2.1 software, and would prefer to go back to it if possible until 2.2 is fixed or another, non-buggy update is released for this phone.
If that is your wish for now, I see no problem in you going back to 2.1. Verizon support should be able to provide you with that os. Just be sure you don't then check for any new updates.

  • Best Buy Version of Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 that Best Buy sells strictly a Wifi model or is it 4G capable? (obviously I understand that if it is capable it still requires a monthly fee with an actual provider to actually get the 3G/4G). But I am not interested in being limited with only a Wifi model.

I don't believe any 3G/4G models are available in the United States yet.
I haven't found wifi-only limiting as my phone supports Wifi Hotspot functionality.
If you do get a 10.1 from BBY, make sure that when it boots there is an image of an unlocked padlock.  Some units are sold with locked bootloaders.  (I consider this to be a major defect since unlocked devices are sold at the exact same price, and locked units are not marked as such.  There is NO justification for a locked bootloader on a wifi-only device.)

  • Flash latest update & 13 have major 'lag' issues?...

I tend to use flash to play a number of MMO games,... after the update last week, everything went from normal smooth operations to major 'lag time' between giving the computer a command & that command being executed.  (In Real Time Games, I hope you can understand the issue - it made all the Real Time app's unplayable.)  at first I wrote this off to server loading,... but on reflection, that didn't seem to fit.  I remember that the only update that happened recently was a flash update, and that the update took place about the same time I started having the issues.
So,... I went to adobe site & loaded the most recent version of flash (12), and the problems got worse.  I then loaded the beta version (13), and the lag problem during normal game play went away.  (so, it is definitely a flash problem.)  However, with 13 installed, there is a major cursor lag when you move the cursor while holding down any key on the keyboard.  Again,.. almost all MMO RT games require you to make extremely fast movements while holding down a key for a specific effect,.... nearly impossible with flash 13.
I've now confirmed the same problem and effects for both the latest update of flash & flash 13 with all my on-line team-mates (over 100 people all over the globe), and 100% of them have had exactly the same problems,... with both the latest update and with flash 13.
I don't know what you did in the last update,... but whatever it was was really wrong....
We have a huge (world-wide) tournament coming up this coming weekend (29th-30th of March - 2014), and none of us are mission capable because of your changes to flash,.... please,... please find us a fix & find it fast?......
    Thanks & very best,

I have now tried gaming with both flash 12 & 13 with hardware acceleration both enabled and disabled,... flash 13 with hardware acceleration enabled works the best, but there is still a significant cursor lag that didn't exist prior to the last update.  Thanks again JMaster5K

Hi sweepdastone and welcome to the community,
You could open task manager and see what is using up all your CPU or you could download the tool from the link and it will give you a more complete picture of what is running.
You're not running all of the antivirus programs at once, are you?  Running more than one will conflict and you'll end up with no virus protection at all, just a lot of conflicts and CPU usage.
Seeing as how you just got a warning about a partition, I'd run a hard drive diagnostic tool and see if there are any hard drive problems.  You might have a failing hard drive.  I would back up any files you don't want to lose because just running a hard drive diagnostic could make a failing hard drive fail.
Edit:  As far as your partitions go, there are actually four.  One you can't see and there's files on two of the other ones  that are hidden.  Two of those have to do with recovery.  The factory default image is on one.
    Good luck
    Dave

  • Questions about the Galaxy Tab on Verizon

    Hello
Samsung is saying that the Galaxy Tab is comming to Verizonwireless soon. Rumors are sometime in November. I'm really excited about this product but I'm a little in the dark on some of the features and capabilties Verizonwireless will have for the Tablet when it is introduced.
Q1. Will I be able to use my Verizon cell phone number with the tablet to make and receive phone calls? If Verizon configures it for cell phone serivce, this device will be an iPad killer. Rumor has it that it is being offered in the UK with cell phoine service.
Q2. Will it be introduced on Verizons 4G network? May as well start off on the right foot. Again, this will be hugely popular with Verizon customers if it is.
Q3. When? My contract is up in December and I am looking for a device like this. When does Verizon plan to release the Galaxy Tab?
    Thanks
    JayT

  • Verizon Webmail site will not load on Samsung Galaxy Tab SCH-1800

Is there some compatibility issue with Verizon's Webmail site and the Galaxy Tab?  In the past I have easily been able to access my Webmail account directly with the browser on my Galaxy Tablet.  But over the past year or so, that access has gone away.  At first I was told to download the FiOS app to my tablet.  That worked for about 6 months.  Now even the FiOS app does not work.  When I type any version of the "netmail.verizon.net" or "webmail.verizon.net" or "myverizon/webmail.net" I get redirected to the Home Verizon page.  From there, I don't get any login links and thus I can not access my email root server from this tablet.  I've called Customer Support on numerous occassions but nobody seems to have any clue why this is happening.  Does anybody know if there is some compatibility issue with this old tablet and the website?  Perhaps the platform is no longer supported, or the Android OS is too old??  Very frustrating that nobody can answer this simple question.

Samsung is usually late to the party.. no real info but i know most of their devices are last to get any updates

  • How do I stop Firefox for Android from popping up the on-screen keyboard when loading a page with a search box on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2?

When I go to certain sites on the web which have search boxes, Firefox will pop up the onscreen keyboard as the page load completes, without me doing anything to focus the search box. It's annoying to have to tell the keyboard to go away each time before I can navigate in the page.
I specified the device I am using (Galaxy Tab 2 7 inch) because it uses a nonstandard keyboard applet, called simply the Samsung Keyboard, which could be doing something different than the regular Android one. I don't have the option of switching to the stock Android keyboard.

That won't help iamjayakumars. That pref blocks popup windows on load. The keyboard is not a popup window.
This behavior happens because the website sets focus to a text box on the page. Firefox is following the standard behavior for desktop browsers.

  • Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags.

Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.

  • How can i install firefox 10 on a galaxy tab 10.1?

I have firefox 10.0.5 on two galaxy tab 10.1, and would like to install it on 4 more tabs, but the current version of firefox is not compatable. How can I get firefox 10 on these newer devices. I is the most stable browser in spotty mobile coverage areas.

'''the-edmeister''', before the mobile Firefox 14.0 came out the previous Release was actually '''mobile Firefox 10.0.5esr''' as there were no 11.0, 12.0, 13.0, releases as they were Betas test builds only and for 14.0 it went to native Android UI framework and the tablet ui was still a work in progress.

  • Unable to use FiOS Mobile Remote App on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

I'm one of the holdout Blackberry customers who Verizon doesn't recognize as wanting apps anymore.  I finally broke down and bought an Android tablet device when I saw the FiOS Mobile Remote App and recognized it as an easy solution for controling my multiple HD STBs in my "Man Cave".  Unfortunately, the app has been completely useless.
The app loads fine.  I'm able to register each HD STB with the app, however doing anything more than the initial set-up for the remote function results in a crash.  Every time I attempt to use it, I get the message "Unfortunately, FiOS Remote has stopped."  I will occassionally see the attempted connection displayed on the corner of my TV screen.
All other functions of the app work, including the DVR function.
I've reported this failure for months, using the handy little report button below the crash message.  No response.
I've commented on this topic in threads from other users with the same problem.  No response.
I've posted to the comments section of the Google Play store.  No response.
Please, would someone from Verizon acknowledge this problem exists?  My best theory so far is that my tablet device is not on a Verizon data plan (WiFi only), so therefore Verizon isn't interested in supporting it (or this loyal customer).
Device is Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 7.0, running Android 4.0.4.  All FiOs STBs replaced with latest generation.

I am sorry to hear about the troubles you are having with the app. We try to make the app as compatible with all devices as possible. The full list of devices the mobile remote is compatible with is https://www22.verizon.com/OnDemand/unprotected/AboutFlexView.aspx   . You may find there may be devices that do work with it that re not on the list, but these are all verified working devices with the app. Since yours doesn't appear to be on the list, we can not gaurantee it will work. Submitting all the feedback has gotten word back to Verizon about the troubles you are having. You can also submit this to the Verizon Idea Exchange. • HP Deskjet 2540 and Galaxy Tab 3 - cannot print wirelessly

    Hello
I would be very grateful for help with the following issue.
I have an HP Deskjet 2540 and a Galaxy Tab 3 (Android) and wish to print wirelessly from the tablet.
I have installed the ePrint app and the ePrint All-in One Remote app on the tablet.
In order to print I have to change the tablet's wifi connection from my home wifi to the printer's wifi which means that I cannot print straight from the internet.
I have tried saving web pages and then printing i.e not using the home wifi but a message appears on the tablet saying " Connect to Samsung printer".
My question is therefore, how do you print when you can only have one wireless connection on the tablet at a time i.e either the home wifi or the printer? Every time I want to print, do I have to change the wifi connection on my tablet from my home wifi to the printer's?
    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Sujo,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums.  I gather that you are unable to print web pages from your Android Galaxy Tab 3 tablet because you are using the printer’s wireless direct feature which does not have internet connectivity.
Let’s get the printer connected to your home wireless network.  If you have a computer running a Window or Mac operating system it’s fairly easy to connect the printer.  Please follow the steps in the Installing the Printer Software for a Wireless Network Connection document for the operating system that is running on your computer.
If you only have your tablet available, please follow the steps in the post by @Jon-W titled “How can I setup a Deskjet 3050a/J611 to my Chromebox?”.  Please start where he says “There is another alternative but it can be hit or miss”.
Once you have the printer connected to your wireless network you should be able to print web pages as both devices will now be connected to your wireless network.  Please let me know how it goes.

    Hi all
I'm really pleased to announce our photo competition winner, congrats to StuartRogerson - one Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 will be on Santa's sleigh with your name on it shortly!
But there's still one Galaxy 2 to be won in part two of the competition - see below for the winning photo from Stuart. We felt this picture best captured the feeling and meaning of Christmas - but what do you think? PM a caption for this photo to StephanieG or SeanD and we'll select the best as the winner, it should be something that captures the spirit of Christmas - it can be funny, seasonal or sentimental. Last day for submitting your captions is 23rd Dec (by 5pm) so get your thinking caps on, we're looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

  • I was ablet to download firefox on my galaxy tab several months ago, but now i can't get it on my coworkers tabs. how can i download to galaxy tab 10.1?

I have firefox 10.0.5 on my galaxy tab 10.1. When we purchased more tablets last month, I have not been able to install firefox on them. It does not seem to be a supported device with the newest version of firefox mobile. How can I get firefox 10.0.5 or some other version of firefox that works on the galaxy tab 10.1? Firefox seems to be the most stable browser when there is an interuption in internet service. Is there a solution formy remaining tablets that don't have firefox?

Try getting the latest version from this URL http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/fx/#mobile
