Gaming 5 Audio Boost?

I have my system running great with my new Gaming 5 however it seems I am getting low volume on the headphones even with the volume turned up? I am using Turtle Beach PX22 headphones and with volume all the way up it still is kind of quiet.
Anyone have any ideas? I thought this board has a headphone amp built in?

Did you try your Turtle Beach PX22 headphones with other PC to see if it's okay?
also try reinstall the latest Realtek High Definition Audio Driver 6.0.1.7293 from msi website
http://www.msi.com/support/mb/Z97-GAMING-5.html#down-driver
try not to use the headphone inline amp?

  • Z87 G45 Gaming, Audio Boost chip is reversed upside down

    Hi
First post now, so I have to ask something not usual I believe.
The board has just arrived with the mail, but I think I have an issue.
Thing is that the Audio Boost chip on the motherboard is fixed the other way,
Upside down. Meaning the written audio boost on chip is reversed, boost is on top and audio down, ofcource mirrored viewed.
My parts for my 4670k build have not all arrived yet, so I didn't test it if it lights on and works.
I would like to know, coming out of the factory fixed on the MB like this,
Has it ever been reported or encountered before, or it is a bad sign for RMA it?
Do you know if it happened again and if so is it operating property?
As far as the rest of the board everything seems ok, it's just this Audio Boost chip bugging me.
I will have all parts within 5 days, so any opinion before then is appreciated.

I mean that according to the picture above, the Audio Boost chip is rotated 180 degrees.
There is no heatsink installed yet, still expecting the rest of the parts over the coming days.
Ofcource if it lights up and operates I m good with it, no reason to replace the MB.
Fingers crossed, gonna find out when I set up the system about it.
I just wanted to know if it has appeared again on some other mainboards, if so, is it still functional.
I ll post an update after system assembly. Maybe a collectors edition in the end : )

  • Creative Gaming Audio & the EAX2 R

Partially as a response to this thread about "Onboard sound versus X-Fi review/shootout?"...?http://forums.creative.com/creativel...message.id=430?... this post further expands the subject of on-board sound on to gaming & continues deeper into the needs/wants of a "gameaudiophile".
[color="#ff6600">- GG's!?Even though the link below points to an old article / review from 2005 03 07, it might give people here some guidance in finding their temporary way back to the still not so old HDA on-board sound until Creative's driver technologies see a brighter day. Intel High Definition Audio Aricle on the C-Media CMI-9880 & Realtek AL C880
http://www.behardware.com/articles/5...ition-dio.html?-------------------------------------------------------------- - Now I'm a pretty frequent gamer who have come to rely heavily on Creatives post EAX2 systems in regards to great positonal audio, doppler effects etc. As we all know, EAX on the higher notes is TBA & ETA unknown for the time being. This gives us time to fool around with eventual on-board stuff. So I did & let me tell you that the Sensaura 3DPA, which is implemented on the CMI-9880 (on my ASUS P5AD2 Premium MOBO) does not come close to a love affair. Setups for up to 7.CH is at your disposal, virtual modes as well. 6 Ds3D voices , EAX-2 & Jack Sensing... It's all working as in runnig but just doesn't reach any particular high.
[color="#ff6600">Gaming Audio & the EAX2 Roof? Some of you might wonder what my nit-picking about EAX is about. You might not be a gamer. The regular mp3-cowboy regards EAX to be merely a bug. You simply have to hear it in a game, preferably an online-shooter where picking up enemy footsteps & sounds etc are the difference between knowing where to turn your sights or getting it in the back. It's about anticipation as well as immersion. The EAX3+ modes make a huge difference in those regards. For many gamers, the importance of audio quality & positioning might not be clear when first starting out with a game. But as they grow into it, get accustomed with their surroundings, they start to notice & realize how important audio really is. Many of my friends who I have lured into gaming over the years have often been astonished by the difference between on-board audio solutions & the Creative addon cards. Then amazed about what miracles a good headphone setup can do. The real jaw-droppers were the higer EAX modes. EAX became their "eyes on their back". To put it bluntly: Gamers are a new but different breed of audiophiles. We are not content with movie-style directional audio alone, we also demand depth, distance, elevational sound possibilities. True 3D audio. EAX has been the best answer so far as to keep us somewhat happy. No EAX, no satisfaction. Part of the problem is that we have always been trusting Creative to keep deli'vering, and they probably will. But what if, just if, we would like to step out & try something different for a change. Just to know that some other company might do it just as good for us? Well, the options aren't many & they're limited.

Thats why it would be very refreshing to catch some reflections from someone about positional audio in different high-end gaming setu
    ps.
Anyone running the AuzenTech X-Meridian 7. card for instance? I understand the X-Mer being very high quality as far as everything besides gaming is concerned. Reading a lot of reviews, primary concern would be the "higher than X-Fi" FPS hit - what is your real-world experience outside of the constructed RightMark 3D tests? Audio positioning / doppler? How does the Dolby Headphone, Dolby? Pro Logic IIX, Dolby? Digital Li've, DTS? Interacti've & DTS? Connect technologies hold up against their Creative counterpart EAX3-5, CMSS/CMSS2 etc? IMHO, EAX2 alone is not good enough & does not cut it when it comes to fast FPS-games. Maybe some of you have had first-hand experience with the Razer Barracuda AC- card instead? The reviews tell me a story about "nice first try" for Razer, considering it's their first shot at serious gaming audio. Positional is mentioned to be somewhat over optimistic etc. As I understand it, their "EAX3-and-up-killers" are called Razer Fidelity?, Razer Enhanced Sonic Perception? (ESP) architecture and Razer?s 3D (720?) Positional Gaming Audio Engine?. Any hardcore gamers tried it's?Of course, both the X-Mer & AC- utilize EAX2, but as I mentioned.., that's an obstacle to get around for the companies serious about getting gamers to migrate from Creative. It's simply not enough for some of us The substitute technologies must at least come very close of making up for the lack of EAX3-5. Many reviewers barely touch the gaming audio aspects of the tested card, simply stating that "it's adequate enough" (?!!). Well.., that might not hold true for those of us who expect to invest several more hours on virtual battlegrounds than playing mp3's or mixing etc.Happy hunting!

Danke Cat.., but it's pretty much just a pure love letter to honey EAX, who happens to be sorely missed by my big rig if you manage to take notice? - Not dangerous at all really since Creative will hopefully outperform the competition anyhow in the end, right? I'm counting on it anyway. In general, these OS-shift problems currently stirring up are most likely a passing thing; taking audio & audio technology more into the spotlight than anything else. - Which is a good thing for Creative as well (handled nicely), promise, & so is acknowledging / discussing differences between soundcards.
If you are referring to the reviews as inhibiting some sort of advertisement character then yes, advertisement leaning towards Creative since none of the other products have been able to outperform any of the Creative cards when it comes to the topic of gaming ^^ as of yet. Many also use Creative cards as reference in tests, link to & publish Creative specifications etc. Does not necessarily have to be a one way street. Or do you perhaps mean that it's not ok to namedrop? Or hyperlink? Ahwell.., I should have read the manual I guess.
As marshall_lai also kindly pointed out, there is also a huge business opportunity helping lesser incorporated to implement EAX+ & technologies in a proper manner!
Anyway.., Parental Advisory & brainpower recommended in any reply & Enjoy!

  • 8330's AUDIO BOOST DOESN'T BOOST

I have a two-week old 8330 CURVE from BELL MOBILITY.  When using the media player -- music, video, etc. -- I can toggle the audio boost feature on/off with ZERO perceptible increase/decrease in the speakerphone or earbud audio level.
A friend's 8310 (from rogers) boost is very, very, perceptible.
    I went back to the store, gave them my microSD, and got the same no-boost result on a new/different 8330;
Called BM tech support and he tested a unit there with same no-boost result.
Tech checked with his escalation desk and they said that's the way RIM set it up for the 8330s.
Is it that the 8330 being CDMA, which is intrinsically harder on the battery, is audio limited in favor of OEM battery performance (or the appearance of sufficiency)?
    What's up?
How do I get my boost to boost.  The levels are a tide too low when listening while in noisier places.
     Thanks,

Make sure when you go to play it that you turn the Shuffle on to linear play, not Shuffle play. Audiobooks won't play when it is set to shuffle.

  • E3 2015: Checking out the latest in gaming audio tech from Turtle Beach

My last booth visit at E3 2015 was with Turtle Beach to check out all their latest innovations in gaming audio headsets and equipment. As a gamer, having a good pair of headphones is vitally important. The strength of Turtle Beach is that they offer a range of products in all price ranges, so you can pick the pair best suited to your needs. My meeting with them also helped me discover an innovative new project they are working on, which could revolutionize how we listen to television.

Welcome to the forum, s.destination. Sorry to hear you're having "audio channel problem." Perhaps if you gave us just a little more information, someone here might be able to help. Your decidedly terse first post doesn't give us much to go on.

  • No Audio Boost on Verizon Classic SQC100-5

Hello, I have a Classic non-camera on Verizon.  Headphone Audio Boost is missing from Settings > Main Volume.  Verizon is telling me that it's the OS, but I think that it's carrier disabled.  Can someone else on Verizon let me know if they have the feature available on their phone? Please, post your carrier if you reply.  Thanks!

Following up... Today I switched my number back to T-Mobile.  It saves me $50 a month because the rest of my family is already on T-Mo and it's only 10 bucks a month to add a line. Put a T-Mobile SIM in the phone, reboot, and guess what?  Go back to my settings and Audio Boost is there!  Just like that! So F-YOU VERIZON

  • MSI Z87-G45 Audio Boost color LED

On my MSI Z87-G45 I was wondering if anyone knew how to turn off the LED behind the plate of the Audio Boost logo. I disabled the sound card in the BIOS but seen no option on disabling that LED. I guess it is only a minor issue but the pink/purple light is really messing up my Red and Black theme. If there is an option to make it glow red that would be perfect but it kinda looks like the plate is just turning the white LEDs behind it pink.
Also this may be a question for another thread but I think I'm safe in assuming that my X-Fi Titanium PCI-X would be better audio then the onboard, correct?

Yes, that's why I have one on my Z77.

  • Recording gaming audio on an iMac

Right, so I have a gaming channel right now. I am able to do solo gaming because my built-in microphone can pick up audio when there are no headphones plugged in. Now, I want to do co-op gaming (gaming with other people). I've already done a co-op game with a friend and uploaded it. Here's the problem though: I had to actually get his audio file and mix it with mine AND the screen recording for it to work, and after that it had an echo on my side. This is what I need: While I have the headphones plugged into my computer, I need a way to record my voice, the audio from my computer, AND the screen all at once. I'm aware of Soundflower and Audacity, but those just messed up my computer. I basically need a computer program that is similar/like Dxtory or Fraps (which can do what I need). I currently just use QuickTime Player for recording gameplay, but yeah. I need something more reliable than that. Just to note, I don't have a lot of money to spend.
In short terms, I'll put this here:
I need a way to record in-game audio, as well as my voice and the screen on the iMac.

If the headphone port is a Headphone/optical digital audio output (minijack)  with support for Apple iPhone headset with microphone, then an input splitter will work, for example a cable like this:  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004SP0WAQ
But you will have more joy with an audio interface, like isteveus recommended.

  • Audio Boosting

I have some low audio levels that I boosted to the maximum level on the timeline, but they are still not loud enough.
How can I further boost the audio levels? I have tried an audio mixdown and then boosting the level on the mixdown, but Im still not there.
Besides reshooting, or scolding the shooter , how else can I boost the audio level?

Remember, none of these solutions prevents you from reshooting the shooter (that's what you meant? You have shot him once already?) Not sure that scolding will do much good.
If you're on a pre fcp5 or earlier: duplicate your audio tracks or select the audio track in the timeline, boost the audio to the max, and then next (option-c, I think) and then boost the audio of the nest.

Choose what you like. Both are H87 boards hence no cpu oc possible anyway. VGA boost is not really worth buying a board for. The Gaming board features other extras like Killer LAN and enhanced onboard sound.

  • Audio Boost does not take effect

    I Sir,
I have Blackberry z10 New mobile. There is no option in Headphone Audio Effect. Now What is the problem.
MOD EDIT: Subject changed to reflect a new topic
    msmani

Yes we've been waiting a long time for an audio scrub activate/deactivate function it's a good thing they added it.
But it would be even greater if it would work with keyboard scrubbing not only mouse scrubbing. However and it's very odd, it works frame by frame with the frame by frame buttons. But we all mostly use keyboard arrows I guess.
What is weird is when you deactivate audio scrubbing in the preferences (not using the Shift+S shortcut), it does work on mouse scrubbing AND keyboard scrubbing. But it's a waist of time to go to the preference menu each time you want to check just a single image of sound.
I submitted a bug request, and would love to see improvement for this in the next update.
