Gaps in DW not showing in IE7

Hi all,
I'm building a website using DWCS3's 'fixed layout with
header and footer' The page looks great in DW but when I preview in
the IE7 browser, it looks different. In DW, there is a small gap
(around 20px) at the top of the sidebar and the main content divs,
which looks exactly how I want the page to look. I didn't put the
gaps there and I can't remove them either.
However, when I preview the page in the browser, there are no
gaps! The content starts right at the top of the div. And it looks
a bit crap. The page did originally have the following IE7 comments
code:
.twoColFixLtHdr #sidebar1 { padding-top: 30px; }
.twoColFixLtHdr #mainContent { padding-top: 30px; }
The page looks the same in DW and in IE7 when these comments
are in, but what about when a user is using a different Browser?
Does it mean the gaps will then disappear??
When I remove the comments, I get the problem described
above.
When I add padding-top to the sidebar and content divs, the
page looks good in IE7 but there's too much space in DW.
What's going on?? What is creating the additional space and
can I get rid of it? Or what is the best solution - leave the
comments in or use CSS padding-top?
Any suggestions will be gratefully received!
Shelley

Bug in DW? No, I don't think so. Need to be reinstalled?
That's what I'm
thinking too. Give it a try, please - make sure you uninstall
first (and
also make sure you backup your site definitions using DW's
EXPORT facility
first).

  • Spry drop down menu not showing in IE7

I'm using Dreamweaver CS5, Windows 7 64bit OS, and tested in IE8 or newer and firefox all working perfectly.  (with the exception of IE7).
the problem can be viewed at www.maxdailydeal.com
the drop down sub-menu are not displaying on IE7, can anyone help please.
    Many thanks in advance!

All throughout this forum we  explain that you should stay away from absolute and relative positioned  elements. Again I shall say STAY AWAY FROM ABSOLUTE AND RELATIVE  POSITIONED ELEMENTS.
To illustrate this, remove id="floatdiv" from the menu container and you shall see that the menu works. OK, the  menu may not look like you want it to, but this can easily be fixed with  proper CSS.

  • Image only viewable in Safari. Does not show in Firefox 3.0 (OS/Windows), IE7&8

I used an index template .dwt and inserted a logo header image.
Using Browser lab it renders in Safari but not in Firefox 3.0 for both OS/Windows, IE 7&8, and Chrome.
Using FILE-->VIEW IN BROWSER, which is Safari it is fine.
A friend used FIrefox and IE7 and the image did not show or same results as Browser Lab.
Orginial code:   <div class="header"><img src="../pictures/logo_header.jpg  :  Safari good, other browsers did not show image
2nd try: Code:  src="/~sanchezg/pictures/logo_header.jpg", This time Safari did not show header image either.

From PROPERTIES--> SRC --> BROWSE FOR FILE
    URL:  ../pictures/logo_header_jpg
    Relative to: Document      : index.dwt
Selecting 'Change default Link Relative To in the site definition:
         Default Images folder:  /User/xxxxx/Sites/GabeSanchezFIles/Pictures
Links relative to:  Document is selected
            Web URL:  http//www.unm.edu/~sanchezg
    What are your thoughts?
    Thank you

I'm troubled by these answers because they seem to further muddy the water.  Here's the important concept -
All links in the TEMPLATE file should be one of three kinds -
    1.  Relative to the template file, e.g.,
<a href="../ (meaning that you must go up one level from the template folder
to reach the root of the site, hence all other files, since none of them
should be in the templates folder)
    2.  Relative to the site root, e.g.,
<a href="/ (meaning that one would begin looking for the linked file at the
root of the site and follow the pathing from that point)
    3.  Absolute, e.g.,
<a href="http:// (meaning that the link is to a page external to the site).
Seems that none of the suggestions are putting you on that path first.

  • Header not showing up in Firefox (but OK in IE7)

    Hello everyone.
I'm hoping someone can help me with this situation. I'm
having a problem with my header sometimes not showing up in Firefox
2.0 (I'm using 2.0.0.13), yet it shows up fine in IE7. The problem
is intermittent, sometimes it displays as it should and other times
it's not there (the header is a JPG, 1000x125 pixels, around 25k in
file size). Sometimes clicking the "Go" button will make it appear
(other times not) and sometimes "refresh" will do the same or make
it "disappear" if it's already there. I'm using DW MX 2004 and I
don't remember having this problem before until just recently on
some pages that I made from scratch. Here is an
    example of one of
the pages. So far it's a pretty simple layout using a table, a
header and a few horizontal buttons.
If it the header shows up in Firefox, please refresh or
reload and see if it no longer shows up.
I'm wondering if I should be doing something else in DW for
the header so that it will show up every time in Firefox. I can
post the code if I need to, or you can view it when you visit the
    page.
    Can someone please help?
    Thank you

Not Dooza but you say without /zhtz/ it shouldn't work but
    your code is:

  • PNG pictures not showing up in IE7 after Quicktime Install

I am having a problem on my Vista box. PNG images are not showing in IE - not on any website since installing Quicktime.
It seems this has something to do with Apple's Quicktime. I have gone to MIME and File Assoc. settings in Quicktime and set the images to open on the machine with Photoshop - this works fine. But when I try to view a PNG on the web I get the "red X" image not found.
I have tried this registry fix: http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/202/1/, But it does not work and gives an error.
Also, when I try to open an PNG in IE locally on my machine it's using Quicktime to try and open the file. Example: When calling this image on my machine via IE, Quicktime is opening this png file instead of simply showing the file in the browser.
    C:\Users\neal\Web Sites\images\cancel_f2.png
I am also including links to screen shots from a program called MIME View which obviously shows how Quicktime seems to have 'hijacked' PNG images??? I am also including a screen shot of the settings for a jpg, which I assume should be about the same for a PNG.
    PNG: http://www.nealwhitley.com/png-properties.jpg
    JPG: http://www.nealwhitley.com/jpg-properties.jpg
Any thoughts? Is this a registry problem? Any fixes? Is this a Vista issue?
    Thanks,
    Neal

I just sent this on to Apple QuickTime for Windows support feedback. I lost 'png' in Windows Vista Home Premium IE7 Browser unless I 'right click' IE7 Icon and 'run as administrator' after installing QuickTime Pro with iTunes on a new Dell desktop. From what I find in on-line forums QuickTime for Windows has been doing this in Internet Explorer for quite some time, I tried the same .zip file you tried with no completion in 'merge'... It appears to be a 'bug' from Apple, let''s hope they can offer a 'fix'...
03/10/07 new in the box Dell Dimension E521 desktop Windows Vista Home Premium OS installed. After I downloaded iTunes with QuickTime I noticed Internet Explorer 7 could not display 'png' images. I have QuickTime 7.2 with iTunes installed and stay current on Apple for Windows updates. After many hours of research on-line Windows support forums I discovered something in 'MIME' QuickTime application associates 'png' to QuickTime only and I get the annoying 'red x' appearing at any and all[right click properties] 'png' images. I contacted Dell warranty support about this matter without a 'fix' other than assuring me it was associated with a glitch in 'QuickTime for Windows'. In my Control Panel at QuickTime Icon there is no access to correct or alter this MIME 'png' association in Vista. I found if I 'right click' IE7 Icon and 'run as administrator' The browser opens very slow, but now 'png' images appear. They also do clearly appear in Mozilla Firefox alternative Browser on this PC. I'm quite certain Apple knows about this matter and has been receiving support questions concerning restoration of IE7 'png' images which seem to occur when QuickTime is installed. Since this is a QuickTime for Windows issue, can there be an adjustment in future QuickTime updates to address this sad state of affairs? I have tried Internet Options 'reset IE7' I even tried a 'system restore' on this brand new PC, experiencing this 'bug' issue related to QuickTime MIME 'png' images should best be addressed by Apple since Microsoft seems to offer no working solution short of re-installing the Vista OS, but installation of QuickTime for Windows would only cause it to happen again... Can you refer this matter to QuickTime for Windows Department for advice, maybe corrective measures in future updates?
Your assistance is greatly appreciated, I wouldn't be on-line without iTunes and QuickTime, let's see if we can get the 'red-x' out. Thank you!

  • Spry submenu not showing up on IE6/IE7/firefox

The Horizontalmenu Spry is working good when I create it as a
blank html page. But when I created spryheader as a template, the
submenu is not showing up on hover on IE and firefox. Wonder if its
    a z-index problem.
    Using spry 1.6.1
Did anybody face the same problem and found a solution?
Working URL (simple html page) : www.ciitech.net/next1/
    Templated page :

Maybe you tweaked something, but it shows up in Firefox 3 and
IE7 for me. In IE7 though, the menus don't drop straight down, but
I think that might have to do with the widths you have set for you
    menu items, but not certain.

  • My ext HD Icon from a portioned drive does not show up on Desktop

I have an external hard drive with two partitions that both showed up on the the desktop. For some reason, one of the partitions stopped showing up on the desktop but does show up when viewed from finder, disk utility, etc.
I ran permissions, relaunched, etc. One of the partitions still does not show up- very frustrating. I looked at info, preferences, etc. and can't figure it out.
I plugged the hard drive into another computer and both show up there...
So any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello markshepherd1,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
According to the following article, when you're going through the process of burning a playlist to a disc, you have the option to select "Include CD Text".
If you’re creating an audio CD, choose your options:
    Change the recording speed:
Choose an option from the Preferred Speed pop-up menu.
When you burn an audio CD, iTunes automatically uses the best recording speed for the CD. However, if your blank CD is rated for a slower speed than the maximum speed of your drive, or if you experience problems creating CDs, you may want to change the recording speed to match the CD’s rating.
Change the amount of silence between songs:
Choose an option from the Gap Between Songs pop-up menu.
Have all the songs on the disc play at the same volume:
    Select Use Sound Check.
Include information that disc players in some vehicles can display:
    Select Include CD Text.

I've created the legends on charts and the text on path and drop shadows are applied.
when I make a PDF, some text get dropped all together as well as the drop shadows do not show up.
Can someone help to solve this?
The only way is make a jpg. files and then create a separate PDF off the Acrobat.
It works but I would like to save the steps.

  • How come my device is not showing up in the summary pane?

I am trying to restore my device because I have a black screen. I signed into my account but my device is not showing up in the summary pane.  Why not?

one of the biggest things that i see with this issue is that the usb connector is not pushed in all of the way
-look at the connector and see if there is any gap between the white shell of the connector and the device
-if so that push it in until there is no gap between the ipod and you hear another click
let me know if that doesn't work because there could be other things involved with the cause of this issue
but i do hope this helps:)

  • Server 2008 R2 does not show Internet Explorer 10/11 Group Policy options

    Hello,
I have a Windows Server 2008 R2 server that has IE11 installed. I am attempting to create a GPO to control Proxy settings for IE10/11 clients, however, when I go to User Config>Preferences> Control Panel Settings> Internet Settings and Right click,

I have downloaded and installed the Administrative Templates for Internet Explorer from

    the server a couple times.

This setting determines whether the Properties menu item is enabled, and thus, whether the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box is available to users.
If you enable this setting (and enable the "Enable Network Connections settings for Administrators" setting), the Properties menu items are disabled for all users, and users cannot open the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box.
Important: If the "Enable Network Connections settings for Administrators" is disabled or not configured, this setting will not apply to administrators on post-Windows 2000 computers.
If you disable this setting or do not configure it, a Properties menu item appears when users right-click the icon representing a LAN connection. Also, when users select the connection, Properties is enabled on the File menu.
Note: This setting takes precedence over settings that manipulate the availability of features inside the Local Area Connection Properties dialog box. If this setting is enabled, nothing within the properties dialog box for a LAN connection is available to
    users.

Important: If the "Enable Network Connections settings for Administrators" is disabled or not configured, this setting will not apply to administrators on post-Windows 2000 computers.

  • HDR merge edit not showing correct

When I try to merge for HDR the edit page does not show correctly. There is big white gap in the merge.

  • Dropdown menus not showing in IE6 or 7

Hi everyone, I'm hoping you wizards can help me out here!
For some reason the main horizontal javascript navigation bar in my company's website (created with DW) does not show up in IE6 or IE7. It is fine in IE8, Firefox and Google Chrome. The web address is www.sayersb.co.uk. Perhaps you'd be kind enough to take a look and let me know what you think. I can let you have the CSS file details if you need. Additionally, the menu in the left column extends way too far across the page in IE6 and I'm not quite sure how to fix that bug. I'd be really grateful for some pointers so I can finish off the site.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
to: "the menu in the left column extends way too far across the page".
Did you already search in your really large "mainNav.css" for the attributes of your <div id="leftCol"> and <div id="navcontainer">.
The other possibility is, of course, to ask the people of MMMenu.
    Hans-G.

  • Table is not showing up when visible is set to true

I have a table that has visible set to false. Within my webpage when I user selects a option from the radio buttons this table will appear or be hidden depending on the users choice. This works fine with firefox 3.6 and IE7.

  • Built Flash Video and will NOT show in Hosted Environment

Built Flash Video and will NOT show in Hosted Environment.
The files generated work on development machine. I posted the same
files in hosted environment and flash will not show. I first
thought it was Vista 64 IE 7 so I switched to XP IE7 and same
results. Still it is strange the falsh works locally. I am sure it
is something simple that I am missing. Any help would be
    appreciated. Thank you.

Nickels55, I appreciate the response. Here are the
interesting facts. I had my hosting provider apply the mime type
and restart IIS. No flash video. I have Vista x64 Ultimate with I
think IIS 7 (the default IIS that comes with the OS.) The flash
video would not show in that environment until I applied the MIME
and then it WORKED. Yeah! But I still don’t have it working
on my web hosting provider with server Win2003. I thought it was
the hosting provider but I posted on my work server Win 2003 and
changed the MIME with a reset and could not get the video to work
    there either.
I would like to try another angle here. Again I am using the
wizard to encode and publish the flash video. Maybe I don’t
have a settings correct. I can approach this a few ways.
1.) I can send my video to someone to post on their Win2003
server and see if they can get it going.
2.) Someone send me a short 3 second video that they produced
that they know it works on Win2003.
3.) Any other ideas? Surely someone in this universe has used
the flash wizard to encode a video and published to a Win2003
    server. :)
I guess the other thing to note is when creating the flash
video I chose no controls (play, stop, pause). I want the video to
start when someone accesses the page for the first time.
Thank you for the help everyone.
