Garageband doesn't "hear" input from microphone... help!

hey,
i'm running a mic into a mixer, and running the mixer signal into my ibook with imic... I've modified the "sound" input area of my system preferences for the imic's usb sound input and chosen input and output volumes. having done that, i can see that the computer is getting the signal from the mic....
my problem is that garageband doesn't seem to recognize the change... it continues to get sound signal from the ibook's built-in microphone.
any suggestions on fixing this would be appreciated!!

settings>general>reset>reset all settings
you will not lose any information except wifi pw's
make sure to choose set up as new device when it asks, you didnt loose any info so its pointless to restore from back up, plus it would put the settings the way they were

Garageband not recognizing external inputs from minijack entrance

I need to connect a sound mixer to the Macbook via minijack audio entrance. Even I have changed the settings for audio input in System Preferences (from internal mic to external line) garageband is not recognizing any external input and internal microphoen is always active.
Someone had the same problem?

Can't get input from microphone

I haven't ever needed to use the microphone on my laptop, but recently I have been needing it. I can't seem to get it working though. Laptop is a Lenovo E545. It's worth mentioning that when I got this computer a year ago, the mic would work during an occasional skype call.

Basically I went into alsamixer and enabled the capture channels, that didn't seem to have any effect. Then tried passing msi_enable=1 to the snd-hda-intel module, but that didn't do anything either. It looks like I'm missing 'Mic' in alsamixer, and amixer outputs only 'Master' and 'Capture'.
In pauvcontrol there are no Input devices either.
Tested to see if the mic is working by
arecord -d 5 foo.wav
aplay foo.wav
Not sure what I should try next.

Do you have pulseaudio-alsa installed?

Captivate 4 and Windows 7 doesn't hear microphone and will not record

I have windows 7 as my operating system. I downloaded the trial version of captivate 4 while I'm waiting for my recently purchased copy to come in the mail.
I can record on my computer via its own sound recording utility under accessories. So that is up and running. I right-clicked on Captivate when opening to open as administrator, besides I have admin rights anyway.
But Captivate doesn't hear the microphone. My microphone is one that plugs in to the microphone port on my computer.
When I speak into the microphone, the red "Checking input Level" does nothing, and no sound is recorded.

Qosmio X500 doesn't hear me using speech recognition / microphone

Hi!
I frequently use the Win7 Ultimate speech recognition function.
However since a couple of days the computer doesn't understand what I say anymore.
The built-in microphone is now very unresponsive: I have to get as close as within 10-15cm of the microphone in order to get any acceptable results. I don't know what has changed... never had any problems before.
When I try to do the voice recognition training my computer just doesn't hear me (at least it seems so)...
I don't know what to do...

Thanks, I checked the volume setting, but it's ok. Something else must be causing this...
*Anyway this problem is SOLVED,* at least for now.
I was looking for a newer driver version but found only the original driver from 2010.
So I couldn't update but reinstall both sound and webcam drivers (I read somewhere that they are closely related to each other) and subsequently the second reinstall fixed the problem.
Mic works fine again and speech recognition too :-)

Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.

only for contextualize, in other softwares the microphone record correctly like quicktime, or in facetime, even photobooth. but in garage band not.

I still can't figure out how to program the Fn Keys.
Scenario: I use a Swissvoice handset at home, an iPhone earbud/microphone combo on the road, and when on a business link with more than one person in front of the W540, I switch to the built in speaker/microphone.
Right now to switch from the mini plug to the hardware speaker/microphone, it's several steps to achieve the objective.
With the multitune of Fn keys, can one be programed to quickly switch thew output/input from the micro 3.5mm connector to the built in hardware?

I can hear the noise through all kinds of headphones and the internal speakers, but the power running through those is usually so low that the pop is negligible.
My speakers are set to 0 dB, which is massively loud (the volume control kind of clicks in place at 0 dB, so I keep it there), so I keep the volume down digitally on my MBA. But this means that any "uncontrolled" sound output will be pretty loud, such as if I unplug the jack and touch it.

I'm only a few weeks into learning java, so this may seem simple to some, but...
I am trying to write a program that will receive numbers from a user,

When you input the data you need to save it to the array. Currently you are not saving the value you are just adding it

i think getselected only works on JLists.

hi i had the same problem today when i updated my itunes to latest version. however, i have just found my songs in the 'itunes media' folder. this was accessed through 'my music' then keep clicking through until you find itunes media and all my library songs were in there and i then just added these files to my library and all were restored however, i have lost all my playlists but at least my 700 songs are back. very dissapointed with apple that they have let this happen with their latest update, the previous version was miles better than this one . hope you find them. stevo

I understand that you have also used the download link & serial number from Adobe - CS2 Downloads, if still the CS2 is not working, then please refer to the system requirement for e.g System requirements | Photoshop
The issue can be that the present operating system might not be compatible with the CS2.
