GC most appropriate for 200 MS Terminal Sessions running large Applet

We are load testing a J2EE application using a tool called App Loader. The client for this J2EE application is a large applet which runs from 60 mb of jars. We are running the applet in IE 6 on W2k3 X64 Enterprise in each of 200 Terminal Sessions on a 16 Core 2.4 Ghz server with 128Gb RAM. We have the following JVM parameters for the clients -Xrs -Xms128m -Xmx128m -XX\:+DisableExplicitGC.
We are experiencing what appears to be missed mouse clicks on various gui objects that rmi to server. This occurs during a one hour run to approximately 20% of our clients. These clients eventually timeout after 120 seconds and die in the App Loader tool. We have seen some improvement in failure rates by coding +DisableExplicitGC.which suppressed a Full GC every 60 seconds apparently explicitly called by RMI.
The GC logs appear to show the serial collector:

What monitors are currently most appropriate for print jobs?

Hi, I'm a free lance graphic designer for 20 years already and have always used Aperture Grid CRT Trinitron monitors as the most accurate for creating color jobs for print. I bought my last set of monitors Sony's Multiscan G420 in 2001. While they are still pretty accurate, they are aging and I'm thinking of buying new monitors. At that time - 2001, when I purchased my monitors there were a few other technologies like Shadow mask and LCD which were not good at all for creating graphic design color jobs for print.
I'm not sure if they still sell Aperture Grid CRT monitors anymore and would like to find out what monitors/monitor technology is currently most appropriate for print jobs?
I will greatly appreciate your tips.

Which Apple laptop is most appropriate for university students?

I just purchased a 15.4" MacBook Pro for university, which I am starting for the first time in the fall. After having received it however I have my doubts if I chose the right one - weight and size being some of my biggest concerns, along with battery life. The model I have has a 2.53 GHz i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM, a 500 GB ATA drive @ 7200 rpm and a hi-res antiglare display. I believe going down to the 13" would also mean going to a lower resolution, glossy display which I have concerns about.
I will be majoring in English, taking for the most part humanities and arts classes, so my computer needs for school would be mostly word processing and presentations - I will be purchasing either iWork or Office to use. I will watch movies and TV shows from time to time, but I don't think the smaller screen size would bother me as I watch them all the time on my iPod touch. I have a fairly extensive music collection and have photos and home videos as well.
As well, after my four-year English degree I will be getting a Masters degree in book publishing, which will require becoming familiar with Adobe Creative Suite 5. I won't be working with these programs in the next four years, but after that my computer will need to be able to handle working with the Suite.
I would be extremely grateful for any opinions - switch to the less powerful but more portable 13", or stick with the 15"?

I appreciate your dilemma. I recently bought a new 15" MBP to replace an older one. While making decisions, I wondered about the smaller screen (size/weight) but stuck with the 15" as it is easier to work with.
You can add to any of the notebooks with an extra monitor (not too dear these days) for graphics work when needed; and as you have arts courses the screen area may help with better appreciation of any works you view.
As regards presentations, the medium of the presentation display is a large screen, but the resolution and size are limited by the projector (using Displays Preferences you can play with this for the best display). Colours also are changed by these devices, so it would be worth taking time to calibrate.
The main reason I would suggest that you make no change for now is that you already have this computer in your hands. Switching now would need data transfers and a (relatively small) learning curve. The machine specs are a bit above what most university students have or need in my opinion, but changing now would cost you (unless you can get a good deal) and there is the data question (above). The power requirements of the Adobe product also suggest the current machine is a better bet (although in 4 years time I would be thinking of a change anyway). Stay with the 15"

Which laptop would be most appropriate for my needs?

I am new to the Apple Support Community. So please be patient with a senior citizen trying to go high tech. I am planning to purchase an apple laptop. A friend recommended a 15-inch: 2.6Ghz with Retina display. However based on the response from an earlier post on the Community forum I feel that it would be wise to look at other apple laptops.
I currently have a Windows PC and use Microsoft 7. My ecosystem consists of this PC plus an apple I-pad and I-phone. I feel it would be in my best interest to replace the Windows PC with a Mac Laptop in order to have a more integrated system. I will primarily by using , e-mail, word, excell, and outlook type programs. Plus I will do a lot of web surfing. I do not plan to play any games. Eventually I may take some pictures and read books on my system. Also I would like to occasionally take this laptop with me on trips or to starbucks to do my e-mail and other activities. I would like a combination of easy portability, durability, security against viruses and reasonable costs in purchasing the lap top.
Are there any specific products that any of you could recommend in terms of apple labtops that would best fit my needs? Also are there any other factors I should consider when looking for a laptop?

If there is an Apple store near you, I would strongly suggest you go and spend a few hours (over multiple days), playing with the different laptops offered by Apple. The store will let you play as long as you like, and except for asking if they can help you, then will mostly leave you alone to play.
If a 13" screen is "Good Enough" then it would be a less expensive option.
If you do not need a lot of storage, then a 13" Macbook Air is a very good traveling system, as it is extremely light (my Wife has one). If I didn't need more storage, I would own one.
If you need more storage, then a 13" Macbook Pro can be a good buy. Not as light, but a very good machine.
If you really need to 15" screen then a 15" Macbook Pro is what you should look at. Whether you want to pay extra for the Retina display is up to you. I think the laptop screens are very good even without Retina.
NOTE: If at home you will mostly be sitting at a desk, then a smaller screen and an inexpensive 20" to 24" external 1080p monitor (or even your HDTV via a mini-Display port to HDMI adaptor) can satisfy the larger screen at home, but the smaller more portable device while away from home.
I would consider getting more than the default RAM (8GB or 16GB if you can afford it). The more RAM will allow memory greedy apps to run in years to come as apps and the OS start wanting more RAM.
I would not worry about the CPU speed. Your stated needs to not require a premium price for a faster CPU.

First: my primary goal is to know which HP tool is most appropriate for locating, obtaining, and installing all appropriate drivers, updates, etc. immediately after a clean new Windows 7 or 8.1 installation.
I know that HP support assistant helps to download the updates for existing sotware, and drivers. However, if I made a fresh installation of widows, there wouldn't be existing drivers or software, then Which one is most appropriate to be used immediately after a fresh new clean Windows install?? -- to determine, retrieve, and install all the appropriate drivers??

How are you starting X? That shows that X started successfully, but the program that controls X, generally your desktop environment exited.

"Specific" command for memtest in terminal????

What is the "specific" command for memtest in terminal????
I've downloaded the 4.22 version of memtest installed okay and I can't get it to run.
I have a G4 MDD. Os is Tiger 10.4.11 I've run applejack countless times, Onyx as well, have corrected permissions and run disc repair as well
and I still have slowed up beachball frozen processing!!! across all my hard drives. Windows stall all my other open programs with a beachball then 14 seconds later it lets it allgo and the window opens. Every time after start-up. Any new window or program I open does same. After it's been initially clicked on, most windows open normal speed.   This is excruciating. I've had this machine optimized professionally, and it was good for couple of weeks then it started slowing down processing again.
I thought to check the ram, but cannot run the memtest program!
What is the command sequence font per font and spaces to use in terminal?
Or how do I check if it's even recognized by my machine? I have used rember which came back okay, but, I know that it can't test the ram currently in use.
I've downloaded and checked memtest when installing applejack and also dwnloaded it seperately, but no go.
I would welcome advice and direction.

I have 3 internals HD's
Reason I want to check is my system is not only slow, but, freezes at random times. For example typing into test edit, while Firefox is open with one window. Or, I open a window in Finder and it takes 15 seconds for the request to complete, meantime all other applications freeze in those 15 seconds. Nothing works and I have 2 GB ram!
When problem started, I had a pro optimize the system - Checked all 3 HDs. found no bad sectors on any of them.
I have booted into 2 different drives and have the same problem: Beachball appears often. When opening windows in Finder, it hangs for about 10 -15 seconds. Sometimes it just stays rolling until I force shut it down. Every session it happens at some point. I don't need to shut it down every time, but, it is slow, as if a huge program is running in the background. BUT, I only have the browser open. It scrolls with a stutter often or beachball shows up when opening a new tab that is loading a page.
For the Primary Drive which is 300GB capacity:
Disk Usage - Space utilized - 141.54 GB
        Space Free- 137.79GB
The Other Drive I boot into:
250GB capacity,
Space Utilized - 166.31MB
Space free 66.56GB
I'vee dumped these pref panes in Safe Boot -

It ran okay for a day, then it went right back to the same issue of slow-down and freezes. This happens even when there is no browser or when I use Safari.

After I called to check i could get an iPhone for $200 like 4 times, I sold my blackberry last night and went into the store today to buy one but apparently I am not "eligble" to get an iPhone for 200 and they want double.
I'm not paying that price, A) because I cant afford it, and B) I was told I was eligible but they dont care (obviously)
So is it possible for me to find a "used" but new, 3g iPhone for aroudn $200?
If they always go for 300-500 on the open market, I'm not going to waste my time and just switch carriers.

Anybody selling an iPhone 3G that is carrier locked to AT&T is probably going to be asking for at least somewhere around $400.
Even if they live in a state that has overturned the Early Termination Fee, if you cancel in the first month or so you may still have to payback the subsidy that AT&T paid toward the cost if you don't return the phone. If you cancel after the first month or so, you will still have to pay the activation fee / first bill, and Early Termination Fee in most cases. That is going to add up.

No Auto-Update for To Do list, session message and toast message

After LC ES Server hardening, we noticed that auto-update is not working for To Do list, session message and new task notification toast message. Before server hardening, all of them are still working fine.
Does anyone know why auto-update is not working after server hardening? Is there any specific port numbers which need to be enabled/opened to solve this issue?
FYI, we also noticed that some RemoteEventClient error messages occur many times in jboss server.log file as the following:

JGroups is an open source project that allows processes to send messages to one another. LiveCycle data services uses it for its messaging implementation (basically it configures the server to multicast messages to all the listening clients...even in a clustered environment across different LAN/WAN).
In most cases the default configuration will work fine, the problem is that if you are running a firewall on the server (or your local machine...i.e. windows firewall) the ports that JGroups uses for its communications can be blocked. In a local environment its easy enough to disable windows firewall and bounce your server to get things working.
In a production environment you need to open the ports that JGroups is using. These settings are in the Global Administration settings (as mentioned by WorkspaceUser above). If you export it and look at the JChannelConnectionProperties you'll see the ports its using and you can set your firewall to allow communication to those ports.

What SAP module is more appropriate for my background?

I'm very interested to join a SAP course in India but i'm really not making any decision so far. which module is more suitable for me and my background.
I have done my Master in "computer science" and my undergrad in "Education in computer". I've asked some guys and some have advised me to go for Basis or BI. I'm telling you that I have no experience in SAP world but I'll take a step further to join the most appropriate course that meets my background.
my Questions are:
- Any requirements to study SAP Basis/BI module in an authorized institute?
- What do u suggest me to study?

i'm interested to enter into SAP world but i duno which way is more appropriate for me:
1- join a course in a non-authorized institute in India for about 2 months (2 h/day) then join SIEMENS institute (8 h/day) which is authorized then do the exam to be a SAP certified consultant. [a long way, total of studying is 3 months, will cost a bit more]
2- join a course in SIEMENS institute then do the exam to be a SAP certified consultant. [short period .. just 1 month, intensive]
Things to bear in mind:
- no experience in SAP world.
- the aim of studying in a non-authorized institute is to enter into SAP world and make sure if the module is suitable for u or need to switch to another one. studying in a non-institute is a bit cheap.

What is the most appropriate way to do reversal and reconcile the reversed

I am facing a problem to reconcile reversal transaction. The scenario as below:
Date 28.04.2008 Company A issue billing to Customer XYZ amount 3,000 MYR
Date 30.04.2008 Company A want to reverse the above transaction.
Questions:
1.Where is the most appropriate menu path to do the reversal?
2. If the reversal needs to be done via menu path: Financial module à Reversal Transaction, then how to reconcile both items to ensure system will read as cleared items?
3.The purpose of Question no.2 due to have same result upon executing customer ageing report regardless using Journal Posting tab or
using Sales Document tab.

To update a journal entry such that it will auto-reverse at a later date follow the steps below:
1. Go to Financials -> Journal Entry.
2. Open the journal entry that needs to be reversed.
3. Place a tick in the box 'Reverse' and a new field for the reversal
date will be displayed.
4. Enter the date when this journal enrty is to be reversed and click
on 'Update'.
For the customer aging report ,there is one case that could explain the difference between 'by journal posting' and 'by sales document':
In case an Invoice has been partially cleared by an Incoming
Payment, the transactions created by these documents will be displayed
as fully open when you run the report using Due Date by Journal Post.
However, if you run the report using Due Date by Sales Doc., the Invoice
will be displayed with its open amount only.
A common occurrence is that exchange rate differences and/or conversion differences were posted without the user having specified to reverse them at a particular date.

However when I boot the xserve from the setup disk and then use server assist on another mac on the network to install the system it does not see any volumes available to intall the software. I know I need to format the drive but every diskutil command I try just seems to hang the terminal session and nothing happens. Please could someone give me an idea as to the terminal commands I need to use to make the volume visable to server assist.

   The UNIX command, diskutil, will do anything that the GUI app, Disk Utility, will so it doesn't matter whether you use the command line or not. If there is a device file for the drive, then it is attached, can be mounted and you can do anything you want with it. Otherwise, it might as well not even be connected to the computer. You may be able to tell if there's a device file with the "df" command. (no parentheses or arguments required)
   I'm guessing that there is no device file, since otherwise the disk would probably be visible to Disk Utility. If that's the case then the problem is probably that there's no driver for the PCI card on the setup disk. If that's so you will have to arrange to boot from something that contains the driver in order to do what you want.
