Gcc broken [Fixed]

Hey guys, after the latest update, gcc seems to be broken. Heres the error I get when trying to build something:
[wsduvall@asar growth]$ make
gcc -O3 -Wall -lm -o growth main.c lattice.c random.c
gcc: Internal error: Bus error (program as)
Please submit a full bug report.
See <http://gcc.gnu.org/bugs.html> for instructions.

You are welcome.
What cause this: I don't know why. I didn't experience this. I see sometimes the exact issue on this forum [#1]. The weird is that if a package is downloaded ok and md5sum is checked by pacman, why some files are corrupted. you have a hard reset recently your machine? This is one possible cause that can explain this.

    I'm using multilib.
    @Allan
more fully than pacman -Syu? Or is my mirror not up to date?

  • Photo Import Broken - Fixed with USB Change

Everything worked perfectly with the iPhone, camera, iTunes, and iPhoto. But iPhoto always showed 0 photos. Image Capture also showed 0. Only PhoneView showed photos and let me export them.
Tried every fix I could think of even deleting the DCIM folder using PhoneView.
Finally, I moved the USB cable to a different port. Fixed. Moving it back to the old port and it was broken again. Very odd fix for what seemed like a software problem.
    Will Mayall

Wow... thank you mayall! My iPhoto wouldn't import photos from my 3GS no matter what I tried. I switched USB ports and it worked right away!

  • Mingw-w64-gcc: Broken, or just me?

When attempting to install mingw-w64-gcc, compilation tends to fail during gfortran's compilation stage. The log gives no error other than ld's exit status and that collect2 reports it. Is this just me or have others got a similar issue? It's been about two weeks or more I think and I have not got a response.

  • GCC Broken?

I don't know if this is due to my installation of Snow Leopard or not...
I am no longer able to compile C programs from the terminal. Here is an example of a very simple program I am trying to compile:
    ===============
    #include <stdio.h>
    main () {
    printf ("I'm a C program\n");
    ===============
    I run the following command:
    /Developer/usr/bin/gcc temp.c -o temp
    I receive the following errors:
    ===============
temp.c:1:18: error: stdio.h: No such file or directory
temp.c:3: error: syntax error before string constant
temp.c:3: warning: conflicting types for built-in function ‘printf’
temp.c:3: warning: data definition has no type or storage class
    Tims-iMac:temp timambler$ /Developer/usr/bin/gcc temp.c -o temp -l objc
temp.c:1:18: error: stdio.h: No such file or directory
temp.c:3: error: syntax error before string constant
temp.c:3: warning: conflicting types for built-in function ‘printf’
temp.c:3: warning: data definition has no type or storage class
    Tims-iMac:temp timambler$ /Developer/usr/bin/gcc temp.c -o temp -l objc
temp.c:1:19: error: stdio.h: No such file or directory
    temp.c: In function ‘main’:
temp.c:4: warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function ‘printf’
    Tims-iMac:temp timambler$ /Developer/usr/bin/gcc temp.c -o temp -l objc
temp.c:1:19: error: stdio.h: No such file or directory
    temp.c: In function ‘main’:
temp.c:4: warning: incompatible implicit declaration of built-in function ‘printf’

Correction... I downloaded XCode and ran the install again, and the problem appears to be resolved. Apparently I had accidentally grabbed the "iphone-only" SDK update, which didn't solve the problem.
If you upgrade to Snow Leopard, you need to get the most-recent version of XCode and the iPhone SDK.

Where exactly did you guys get compiz 0.8?
Even with forcing my mirror to sync it shows:

    community/compiz-core 0.7.8-1 (compiz compiz-kde compiz-gtk compiz-fusion)

It also appears my mirror is synced up to date.  If I search for dssi which the website says is the newest package it shows the newest version:
    [kurt@arch ~]$ pacman -Ss dssi
    testing/dssi 1.0.0-1
DSSI is an API for audio plugins, with particular application for software

    Any ideas?

  • CD Drive Might Be Broken

A few weeks ago I noticed that my cd drive wasn't working right. Like you know when you click the volume up button the thing pops up on your screen telling yo your volume when i click the cd drive eject button that doesn't pop up and it doesn't make the eject sound. I didn't really care because I barely ever use CD's but I recently saw snow leopard on sale so I bought it but I'm scared to put in the CD because I don't want it getting jammed or just broken. Any way to know if its broken, fixed, or what.

The CD drive in my Macbook died probably because I dropped the laptop. It worked for a few months before quitting completely. Replacing the internal drive is very expensive so I decided on an external unit but didn't get any help from third party sources such as Staples online sites or even computer repair people as what unit is compatable with my Mac. I called Apple, got a very knowledgable technician who helped perform diagnostics to rule out other causes and then steered me toward a LaCie external drive sold by Apple for $119. I got the unit quickly, plugged it in and it worked right out of the box. I've burned several CDs and it works flawlessly and I think it's faster than the internal one. Plus the unit has LightScribe so it's capable of printing labels directly to a CD. Although for portability it's not as convenient as the internal unit the LaCie isn't all that big or heavy and it fits neatly in the case I use to transport my laptop. Can connect via USB or Firewire which is what I'm using. A great unit and an economical solution if your CD drive fails.

  • Libssh

    Hey everyone,
    Can someone PLEEEEAASE fix this
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=29037
    What I've identified so far....
    • the `_gitroot` line needs the `libssh.git` removed from the end to be able to clone.
    • CMAKE needs the `-DCMAKE_RC_COMPILER=`whereis i486-mingw32-windres`` set
    • No matter what I do I get this :
    -- Check for working C compiler: /usr/bin/i486-mingw32-gcc -- broken
The C compiler "/usr/bin/i486-mingw32-gcc" is not able to compile a simple

But, my MinGW is working fine. I am clueless. Thanks!

I think you should post this in the comments on the AUR page https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=29037 , maybe the maintainer or someone who uses this package can help you.

  • Iphone 3GS gets -1 error on iOS 6.0.1 update??

    Hello everyone!
I have a iphone 3GS (fully legit, no jailbreaks, no funny business) and decided to upgrade to iOS 6.0.1 (or the lastest version of 6). Everything went fine and dandy until the update reached the "restoring firmware on the iPhone" stage... Both the itunes and the iphone's progress bars were full and stood there being full for over 15 minutes, until the software decided to present me with an error box!
I got a -1 error and the description was that my hardware was faulty or damaged (or something). That came as a surprise to me, since my hardware was fine just before I started this nonsense... So, I surfed the web, looked at forum posts, tried a couple of things (tinyUmbrella, different OS) and so far no luck, now my phone is stuck on a recovery cycle and everytime I get the same error.
    I have tried:
    -Updating iTunes
    -Rebooting
    -Different OS
-TinyUmbrella (to force out of recovery)
    -Restarting the phone on DFU
    -Restarting the phone without DFU
-Doing the update over and over
-Checked for any "third-party" software that might offend iTunes (nothing, all pure and proper for OSX so far)
    Nothing worked/improved the situation.
    I'm tempted to try:
-Banging the phone against the wall
    -Screaming at it
-Putting it away forever and just use my Nexus S full-time
    -Calling a Vodoo Doctor
    -Calling a Wiccan
    -Calling the Ghostbusters
Most of these would ease my pain for sure! If only android had a nifty app to follow the stock market and a handy-dandy "notes" app...oh wait...
...I guess stunts like this might explain why the market share just won't grow now won't they Apple?? I mean common, this takes the concept of "full system upgrade" a bit too far!
Seriously now, at this point I'm considering to take this hunk of not-so-good apple hardware to my local "handy-fixEverything-techGuy" or even to an Apple Store to ask a quote for a hardware repair...Or just to make a big fuss about how the phone was working well before this very nice system update and now it's a paperweight with touchscreen! However I fear that it will be rather pointless, since I'm not willing to pay more than $50 to get whatever this might have broken fixed, and they will ask me for more than that. I might give it a shot anyway...
So, any ideas? Did overlook any potential solution or cause for my problem?
All input is welcome and thanks in advance for reading.

I believe that all iPhones, purchased in Egypt, from official sources, are sold as carrier locked. So, your phone was hacked by someone so you could use it in Germany. Sorry, but that's what happens to hacked iPhones.
No one here can help you, nor can/will Apple, and since none of the carriers in Egypt offer official unlocking, your choices are not good.

  • MacBook Pro Cost/Benefit to repair old, or sell and buy new?!

I have used a Apple MacBook Pro 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo (15.4-inch) for the past four years of college. In that time I've had it repaired once for some spillage, but other than that nothing has been done. The laptop has recently been showing serious age. I don't have a ton of extra cash, and was wondering if it would be smartest to A) Buy piecemeal repairs, and fix this one or B) sell/scrap this and purchase something new. I don't know the numbers enough to do a cost-benefit, so any help would gladly be appreciated!
    INFO/BACKGROUND

o What in the world could be causing the screen to display improperly in lines?
o Is this a video card failure?
    o Is memory too low?
o Is it the logic board
    • The battery is 100% dead and useless ($ fix cost?)
o Laptop must be plugged in to work
    • Slow, and seemingly inconsistent performance ($ fix cost?)
    o Memory/ram was never updated
o Safari has to be opened twice to work, first time it always just sits there
o Microsoft Office 03 applications run at a snails pace
    • Still running original 2006 OS as well as all old OS applications ($ fix cost?)
    • Case shows signs of use along edges with separation ($ fix cost?)
Also, if there are any ideas on what this would sell for, or a total cost to get it into solid running (and lasting!) shape would be awesome. I'm at wits end trying to budget for all this - thanks!

    Hi r,
Without addressing the cost of each item, I can give you my opinion that it is time for an upgrade (new/er MBP). You'd basically be replacing the logic board, RAM, HD, battery, upper case, lower case, and possibly the display and keyboard. That's almost the entire machine. And you'd have to buy Snow Leopard, the latest OS. Then you'd be left with a set of "new" old hardware which should work fine for another couple of years, but you could instead be driving the latest/fastest model for not a lot more money, which should last well beyond what the old machine would last, thereby actually making it cheaper in the long run. Also factor in selling the old MBP on ebay or craigslist for parts, and that makes a new MBP even more cost effective.

  • How to Move Masters to New Hard Drive?

First, like many of you, my computer is nearly 95% photos taken. This is how I've operated in years past: Did shoot, dumped on Aperture. When the computer got full I moved everything over to an external hard drive even though the respective Aperture libraries did not link up with the photos anymore. Now, that I am selling stock, I need to have full access to all my images, so I can upload and sell them.
I moved my library over to my new 1-terabyte hard drive, but my images are still coming from my "pictures" section on my main computer drive. When I tried tried to Aperture: File: Relocate Masters, the computer started consolidating the images and telling me there was no longer a link to some previewed images. Remember, I moved many images from 2007-2009 to external hard drives. (I'm sure compared to many of you; I'm an unorganized mess.)
So, my questions are: How do I get my photos from my main drive to my new hard drive? And, can I delete the raw files taking up 95% of my computer space that are stored at "pictures" after I move them? And, how can I link my previews back to the images I moved to external hard drives?
    Thanks in advance!

If you have a mess, I would recommend that you let Aperture do the heavy lifting for you. (With thanks to Rob Boyer for this suggestion.)
ASSUMPTION: You do not have enough room on your internal HD to simply run a Managed Library and still have about 25% free space and you must therefore use Referenced Masters.
ASSUMPTION TWO: You know the arrangement that you would like to have.
Step .5: Backup everything. I recommend cloning your entire system. You want a safety blanket in case you make a mistake. Take the clone off line, unplug it, keep it safe.
Step One: Set up the arrangement of Folders and Projects that you want in Aperture. You don't have to worry about all of the albums you may want, just your bottom line, basic stucture.
Step Two: Opening one Project at a time, consolidate all of the Masters for a given Project into your Library. Move, don't copy.
Step Three: Still working one Project at a time, Relocate the Masters to a Library folder(s) located whereever you wish. Work slowly, setting up some simple structure that you understand. Again, move, don't copy. N.B. You are doing all of this using Aperture's commands, not/not using the Finder. Sub note, you have the option of renaming your files, should you wish.
Step Four: Using the Finder, check your work. The master files should have disappeared from their original location and now appear in your new Libarary folder(s).
Step Five: If all is well, move to the next Project. If any links are broken, fix them as you go. If all else fails, delete the Versions in Aperture (being careful NOT to delete any any Referenced Masters) and reimport into the correct Project.
    Again:
-- Organize the images in Aperture
-- Consolidate the images (move) into the Aperture Library.
-- Relocate (not Export) the Masters out to the pristine folder/file structure of your choice.
N.B. Never, ever, on pain of Aperture death, move or change your Referenced Masters. (You can let other programs READ them.)
    Hope this is helpful.

  • My z10 camera is not working :(

Hi * pace be upon you *
    My camera can't be use
Now its the third day with out it
    Please help me '(
    Z10 - 10.1.0.273

I've been hacking at this all day now reading the entire internet, wiping my phone and rebooting ect..
Here a recap that may help you,
Cause: An app maybe using the camera in the background.
Fix: Find the app and remove it. Wipe you device if you have to.
Cause: OS or memory issue (this one is unlikely I guess)
Fix: Remove the battery for like 10 minutes or more. Put it back and start the phone
Cause: Memory Card corrupt, incompatible or broken
Fix: Remove it, pull battery, restart phone.
So for me, the face camera was working all along but the back camera was showing color bar. I had it working for the first day and then it died and never came back to life even after wiping and force reinstalling the OS.
Just now I removed the memory card and pulled the battery out for 10 minutes. With the memory card still out I restarted the phone and the camera is now working. I will test drive this setup for a while and see if it pass the test of time. Then, later, I'll put the mem card back and report my finding. I would be more then happy to send the memory card to BB if they want to repro this.
    Hope this help you.
