Generate PSK signal without out of memory error

Hi all,
I want to generate a PSK modulated signal with message bits length much larger like over IM bits atleast. I have to first generate the message bits, diffrentially encode them and modulate them at the end. But when I give larger length of bits to the input of PSK modulation vi, it gives me an out of momory error.
What I am doing to get rid of this out of memory error is... I generate 128k message bits using MT generate bits vi, Encode them and modulate them using MT PSK modulate vi and write the modulated signal data repeatedly in the binary file using binary file write vi that I placed within a for loop with loop count of 20 so that I writes modulated signal data for (20*128k= 2.56M encoded bits). But doing so introduces phase discontinuity.
Can anyone suggest a better way of generating PSK signal with message bits atleast 1M and without the out of momory error?
Any kind of help would be highly appretiated.
Best regards

Hello Sandee,
The problem here is that when attempting to modulate a large number of bits in a single shot is that you are using the number of bits * samples per symbol * 24 bytes of memory just in creating the message and the modulated signal. In your case if you are using 16 samples per symbol this would require 384 MB of memory for a 1-shot operation of a 1M-bit message.
Luckily this problem has been taken into consideration within the Modulation toolkit (MT). If you take the MT PSK Transmitter VI example that is installed with modulation toolkit you can make some small modifications to implement your desired functionality.
By placing the code within a for loop and wiring the first call VI to the reset inputs of the MT VIs you can reset the VIs on the first iteration of the loop and be able to use the previous iteration states for further iterations. Also, to prevent losing samples due to filter delay you need to make sure to flush the buffers (an input to the MT Modulate PSK VI) on the last iteration.
Let me know how this goes in your specific application.

Dan King

  • Out of Memory Error when generating JSP

    Hi,
    I have a bit of a problem. I?m trying to generate quite a large JSP file (a table with about 1500 rows). The problem is that I get an out of memory error when the JSP is being generated. And it is definitely that the JSP is too large, or rather the HTML being generated from it. Now I was under the impression that the JSP page was flush now and again, but I tried to set all the different flush options and I have also tried to manually flush the page. Nothing of this made any difference except for displaying a white page instead of an error page since the header was already sent. Now this suggests to me that the page is being cached internally by the server and then sent to the client. So is there anything I can do about this?

    You are building an HTML table with 1500 rows? That is definitely a lot. And I assume you are also putting some styling on that table...
    These days programmers resource to [url en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAX]AJAX techniques for things like that.
    You can, for example, send the table data as a list of comma separated values, and then use Javascript on the browser to create a partial table with options to browse through the different pages of data.
    If you need to show all that data in one single page, you can still try sending just the data as CSV or XML and then building the table on the browser via a Javascript loop. Use CSS for the styling so you don't overload the HTML code with styling information.

  • Weblogic generating out of memory error when commandline run doesn't

    Hello,
    I am just beginning to use weblogic. I have a jar file which runs fine if run from command line with the options
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java" -jar -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m Report.jarIt connects to oracle and selects some data around (500k records) and writes it to a csv.
    When I run the same jar from within a web application (I mean obvoiusly a servlet calling the jar's main method) the webapp generates
    out of memory error after 80k records itself.
    I tried changing the configuration the server Startup arguments from the console (Server Start and then Arguments) and then restart.
    I just wrote the same thing there -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m
    I guess I am missing something. Please share your answers.
    Environment :
    Win2k8, weblogic 10gR3, jdk 1.5. The application is installed as a service.
    Thanks,

    If you are not using NodeManager, then I don't think those server settings actually control anything. If you are just exploring WLS, then I suspect you are simply starting an AdminServer in a basic domain and don't have a cluster/nodemanager based environment. I could be wrong, please correct as needed!
    If you are simply starting your WebLogic Server instance using the startWebLogic.sh|cnd script, you can set an environment variable on the command shell that will be picked up and used when the server starts.
    set USER_MEM_ARGS=-Xmx1024 -Xms1024m
    * apply appropriate *nix changes as appropriate.
    Then use the startWebLogic.sh|cmd script to start the server and test your application.
    It may very well be the case that your particular application consumes > 1GB heap so you may need more. Remember that you now have a server environment running over your "main" class, so there is bound to be more memory used that could be just sneaking your heap use over 1GB. For example.

  • Out of Memory error on some PDF's, not all PDF's.

    Hi there,
    I have read most of the posts in the forums that relate to 'Out of Memory' issues with PDF's and I have to say that there is still no solution that I have found.
    I have tried reinstalling Adobe Reader, Flash Player and tried clearing my Temp Files. None of these fixed the issue.
    The PDF's that receive this memory error are downloaded off a CMS website that has many offices and logins. Only one office is experiencing this out of memory issue so we know that it is not an issue with generating the PDF's on the CMS website, otherwise all the offices and logins would have this issue, since they use the same system.
    I am an admin of that CMS website and even I receive the same out of memory issue when I try and view the PDF's from that office, as the customer does.
    When we open these PDF's with another PDF reading program, the PDF's open fine. So that tells me that the issue lies with Adobe Reader and not the PDF file itself.
    These PDF files that are receiving the error about 1MB-4MB, so they are not large.
    Could you please tell me the solution to this out of memory error as we may lose a customer because your product is producing an error that does not seem to have been fixed after years of being reported by your customers.
    Thanks.

    As an Adobe Reader XI user, if I may put my two cents in, that "Out of Memory" problem is not with the Adobe Reader XI application, which was installed on our computers! I think, the problem is with how the PDF documents, which we were trying to open, were generated (or regenerated).
    I remember I was able to open my old credit card statement online without any problem and now I am not able to open the same old statement (out of memory) because it could have been regenerated! In fact, I could not open any of my credit card statements (old or new) on this specific credit card web site, which makes me believe those statments were regenerated or somthing with some new Adobe software.
    As others mentioned, even I'm able to view other PDF documents without any problem.

  • Out of memory error importing a JPA Entity in WebDynpro Project

    Hi All!
    We are having problems importing JPA entities in a WebDynPro project, this is our escenario.
    We have two entities, entity A that has a ManyToOne relationship with entity B and at the same time entity B has a OneToMany relationship with entity A. When in the controller context we try to create a node usign a model binding to Entity A we got an Out of memory error from NetWeaver DS. Trying to figure out the problem we identified that in the model that we imported we got the following.
    Entity A
        Entity B
            Entity A
               Entity B
                  and so on....... without and end
    What are we doing wrong? Or how can we avoid these behavior?
    Regards,

    Hi Kaylan:
    Thanks for your reply. You are rigth about the error that we are getting. This is our scenario.
    We have a ejb that in some of his method uses the entity Lote, and this entity has a relationship with entity Categoria. When we import the EJB using the model importer netweaver imports the EJB methods and the entities that they use.
    So after doing this besides the ejb's methods we got these two entities that are the ones that are generating the error, when we try to create a context node using the Categoria entity.

  • Data structure and out of memory error

    I have a program need to load data files and store the float data values in 3 two dimentional array. These data files are generated from biological experiments and are quite large. For e.g., when I tried to load 59 files, each file has 409,600 rows and store these data in 3 Float[][] arrays, like following
    pixel: Float[59][409600]
    signal: Float[59][409600]
    std: Float[59][409600]
    I know the variables of float data type occupy 4 bytes in memory, is this true for the object of Float data type(the wrapper class for float)?
    After cacluation, the total memory needed for the three 2D arrays are:
    4 * 409600 * 59 * 3 = 276.6 (MB)
    I'm using JBuilder 9 Personel and already set the parameter of -XmX as 800 MB, but I still get out of memory error in the middle of loading. Could you give a hand on this issue?
    thanks a lot!

    ok, you mean the Float object will take 24 bytes to
    store in memory instead of 4 bytes needed for float
    variable, right?Yes it's about 20 bytes per Float object. 4 for the actual float and about 16 in overhead. And then 4 bytes for the reference to the object in the array. So each float will occupy a total of about 24 bytes whereas a float just takes 4.
    Would you please give me a clue where
    you get this information?Well an object stores the actual data and has an overhead of about 16 bytes so it's just to add it up -:) I use this as a rule of thumb. I don't remember anymore where I got it in the first place.
    The purpose to store in
    Float object is to display these data directly in
    JTable to reduce the overhead for displaying data in
    table.Yes but it's better to minimize the storage of the raw bulk data. You can always have getter methods that return Float objects to the rest of the program "on demand".
    I've a class to create the table model by
    subclassing the AbstractTableModel. Based on these
    loaded raw data, I've to do other expensive operation
    using different analysis methods. So maybe using the
    built in data type is more effcient in my later
    calcuations.It's always a tradeoff. Use float for fast calculations and raw storage, and Float otherwise for maximum object orientation.

  • RoboHelp 9 gives an out of memory error and crashes when I try to import or link a Frame 10 file or

    I have Tech Suite 3. If I start a new RoboHelp project and try to import or link Frame files, RoboHelp tries for a while, then I get an Out of Memory error and the program crashes.
    I opened one of the sample projects and was able to link to one of my frame files without any problem, so it seems to be an issue with creating something new.
    Any suggestions?

    It happens when I create a new project and then try to import or link frame docs to make up the content. It starts scanning, then crashes. I did get it to the conversion setting page once, but no further.
    It does not happen if I open one of the supplied example projects and link a file. But then it doesn't let me choose, during import, any style mapping. And I can't delete the sample project fold
    Twice now it has told me when I tried to import (not link, but import) that my .fm file could not be opened, and told me to verify that Frame is installed (it is) and that the file is a valid frame file (it is).
    The docs and project are in separate folders on my C: drive.

  • Photoshop CS6 has out of memory errors under Mac OS X 10.7.4

    Has anyone who has a 2008 MacBoo Pro with the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 512 MB graphics card tried running Photoshop CS6 under Mac OS X 10.7.4?
    On my MacBook Pro, PS CS6 launches; however, any action results in an out of memory error.  The CS6 versions of After Effects, Premiere Pro and Illustrator all launch and run as expected under 10.7.4.
    If I switch to my Mac OS X 10.6.8 startup volume, Photoshop CS6 runs as expected.
    I have support cases open with Adobe, NVidia and Apple.  Adobe thinks I need to update the display drivers.  NVidia says display drivers must be provided by Apple.  Apple says that the display drivers are current.  The Apple support agent said that he can escalate the case if the issue can be reproduced on more than one computer.
    I'd love to keep my MacBook Pro running another year or so without having to reboot in 10.6.8 every time I need to use Photoshop.  I'd stay with 10.6.8, but of course iCloud requires 10.7.4.
    I have not tried 10.8 yet, but it's on my troubleshooting list.
    Also, PS CS6 runs fine under Mac OS X 10.7.4 on my 2010 iMac.
    Thanks in advance for any feedback.
    - Warren

    It looks like it was indeed the display driver for the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 512 MB graphics card inside my 2008 MacBook Pro.
    It seems that this driver only gets installed if you upgrade from Mac OS X 10.6.7 to 10.7.4 while the startup drive is connected to the MacBook Pro itself.  I had updated while the startup drive was connected to my 2010 iMac. Accordingly, I could have reinstalled Photoshop 100 times without it ever launching as expected.  Having used the external startup drive with three other Apple computers (all 2010 or newer machines) with Photoshop CS6 launching as expected, I had just assumed (mistakenly) that it would work as expected with my 2008 computer.
    So, this was simple enough to resolve by upgrading the OS on the external startup drive while having it connected to the MacBook Pro.   In hindsight, this makes perfect sense.

  • JavaScript Out of Memory Error on Portal timeout.

    Hello All,
    I am using jsf and Inline navigation in all our portlets and when user leave the browser idle for portal timeout we have 2 problems. 1: Login portlet shows in that specific portlet. 2: we get a javascript alert saying out of memory at line 40. and the porltet shows error message as "Gateway was not able to access requested content. If the error persists, contact your portal Administrator."
    We are using Plumtree 5.0.4 Java version.
    any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    A.J.

    Both are valid behaviors unfortunately.
    1) login portlet is showing up in specific portlet b/c inline navigation allows for you to create and load pages without affecting the overall portal.
    This happens when you use iframes (which behave in a similar fashion).
    - your only workaround is really to write some javascript function to "listen" to the portal login page getting loaded and then throwing the session into the parent browser (which is Portal). At least this is the only solution that I ever came up with when using Iframes.
    2) Don't know about out of memory error actually, but getting the "gatewy was not able to access requested content" is valid b/c the session died.
    - javascript errors require javascript solutions. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful than that.
    Maybe someone else will have better suggestions.
    The other suggestion is to use your app server to listen to the logout event and redirect appropriately to somewhere else, or have it do what you want it to do in situations as this.

  • Out of Memory error end erratic behavior

    Brief description of the issue: while importing images at their current location, some of them would show in grid view with an exclamation mark, and LR would not allow me to adjust them. Removing and importing the same set of images again, the subset of troubled images changed. At some stage, trying to develop one of the images, I got an "Out of Memory" written in red in the center pane. PS CS opens the same images without any problem, and Windows Task Manager indicates there is plenty of available physical and virtual memory.
    Here what I did in detail.
    While I was importing images at their current location into the library from DVDs, I started to see en exclamation mark in the upper right corner of several images in the grid view. When I selected any of those images and hit "D" to develop them, I got "An unknown error occurred" in the Develop module, and LR would not allow me to do any adjustment.
    I have tried removing the images from the Library and importing them again, and then some of the troubled images were not the same as before, and LR would allow me to develop some of the previously troubled images.
    PS CS File Browser shows them all correctly, and also PS can open any of the images without any issue.
    I have copied some of the troubled images to my hard disk, and then tried to import them into LR from there. The same image sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. Finally, when trying to develop one of those, I got an "Out of Memory" error message printed in red and upside down in the middle of the picture.
    Windows Task Manager was reporting 833824 KB of Available Physical Memory out of 2095536 KB, and was reporting as Commit Charge: Total 1281084 KB, Limit 5080272 KB, Peak 1707720 KB.
    Any idea what is going on? It looks to me like instability after I imported a few hundred pictures in a row.

    You are ABSOLUTELY right that I had explorer windows open when I got the export failed messages!!!! I do all my printing at costco, so I have Lr export my final pics to a 'jpeg finals' directory, and then individual sub-directories for each folder they came from, and then manually copy from each of these sub directories to the root directory on my CF card for transport to Costco.
    Will see if it happens in the future without that window open. Still wouldnt help the upside down OOM messages, tho thanks for the update that the team is working on it.
    These two issues and the UI lag are really all that I can ***** about too much, which is pretty amazing given my beta frustrations. I still wish I wasnt locked to the DB. I still cannot in good conscience recommend Lr to most new DSLR users. But for my own use I'm pretty happy. I wish I could get better highlight and shadow recovery like I got in RSP but I'm sure that is user error and n00bishness more than a failure of the app. I'm also not happy that I can't toggle the crop tool to the way I want to work permanently but I guess that ship has sailed too.

  • Why do I get a Track out of memory error while running open loop frequency response?

    MatrixX Build 61mx1411: I get a "Track out of memory" error when I run the Open Loop Frequency Response from the MatrixX pull down tools. What can I do to prevent this? We are running on an HP B1000 with 768 MB of RAM under HP-UX 10.2.

    In the old days of Mx say Version 5 and prior the user actually selected the amount of memory that would be allocated. Depending on the size of the model etc. you would have to allocate memory. In version 6.0 and going forward there is no need for the user to manually allocate the memory.
    Build {rstack=50000,istack=200000,sstack=50000,cstack=500 000}
    If this is a command in a script file that you are running and the error is resulting from that then I would try commenting out everything after the letter d in the word build and then starting it back up.
    i.e. only use Build
    I don't believe that there is a way to manually allocate the initial SystemBuild Stack size.
    I believe initially the stack size is set to 10010.
    However, one way
    you can manually set the initial SystemBuild stack size,is to create a large StateSpace as soon as you start up SystemBuild. This will prevent piece-meal reallocs while using SystemBuild.
    You can created a new SuperBlock in SystemBuild and then drop down a StateSpace Block with 199 inputs and 199 Outputs and 1 State and entered ones(200,200)as the StateSpace Matrix without any problems. This would resize this internal stack to at least 40000.
    You really should not have to do this but if that helps then you might think about doing this in your startup.ms file you could use SBA or load the file then you could delete the superblock and begin working.
    "Bob" gave me this little tid bit.
    Please let me know if any of this is of use.

    I'm new on PL/SQL. One of the PL/SQL code which is created excell report got out of Memory error. The first reason of this error, excell file not supported more than 65536 data. So I change the excell file separeted sheets. So that the single sheet size cannot exceed 65536 data.
    All the data are held on system cach and if many user want to take the report the they would get an out of memory error.
    So I want to change the code like that; when out of memory exception raises,
    the old excell file save to disk and new excell file is created,
    and go on to write the new file without exiting the program.
    At the end of the data all the excell file append and show only one file to the user.
    I do know how to save the file and create a new file. But I don't know how can PL/SQL program to turn back to loop again when the exception occurs.
    Is anyone help me on this issue?
    Here is my code
    Thank you
    dworkbook:=hssfworkbook.new;
    dCurrentItem := Get_Block_Property(pCurrentBlock, FIRST_ITEM);
    while not (name_in('system.last_record')='TRUE') loop
    /* The data would be written to the excell file column order. */
    if (dRow=0) then
              /* Create a new sheet */
    elsif (dRow <= dMaxWorksheetNum) then
         /* Data of the report are written here. The data are written in column order */
    if (dRow > dMaxWorksheetNum) then
         /* give dRow and dColumn intial value */
    /* increase worksheet number */
    end if; /* End of if (dRow=1) */
    if (isWritten) and not name_in('system.last_record')='TRUE'then
         /* if not at the end of the record and the previously read record is written to the file
         , then go to next record */
         next_record;
    end if;
    /* save excell report */
    workbookwriter.save(dworkbook,global.gethome||dFileName);
    web.show_document('/users/'||dFileName,'_BLANK');

  • Spooling to Text File - 30 million records - Getting Out of Memory Error

    Hi All,
    I have an extremely large oracle table that I need to spool to a .txt file. The table has approximately 30 million records. I'm using Toad For Oracle version 10.5 and I'm on Oracle 10g. I've tried running the following spool command a few times and it keeps crashing...I'm getting a "Out of Memory" error in my Toad window when I execute it as a script. Here's the code:
    Spool on
    set heading off
    SET PAGESIZE 0
    SET TRIMSPOOL ON
    SET LINESIZE 100
    set feedback off
    set echo off
    set termout off
    Spool "C:\spooledtext.txt"
    select
    column1
    from test_table
    order by
    column2,
    column1
    Spool off;
    An ideas as to how I can get this query to spool to a text file without crashing and running out of memory?
    Thanks

    use sqlplus.
    Or select smaller chunks and use copy to concat them afterwards.
