Is there an option in oc4j which will remove unneeded white space from the html generated by a jsp page? I have jsp page which generates a html page of 120kb (lots of lines containing only spaces). Formatting this html page using tidy results in an html page of 20kb. (considering that normal modems achieve about 5kb/s downloading these spaces could take about 20 seconds).
I've tried setting the reduce_tag_code option to true but this didn't help. Are there any options in oc4j which might help?

How to get the HTML page size displayed in JEditorPane

Hi All,
I'm using a JEditorPane object in order to view/display an HTML page. The nature fo my program is that it does not know the size of the page in advance, but only on runtime. I'd like to get the size of the HTML page in order to determine the frame size according to the size of the HTML page.
Is there a way to get the size of the HTML page from the JEditorPane?

after displaying the page in your editor pane you can get the diamension for the page by calling
JComponent class method getSize();
actually your question is not so clear
use the JScroll pane then you don't need to worry about the size of the page.

UIWebView html page size

Hi, I use UIWebView in my app. I found the html page was rendered too small, user has to zoom in. Is there a way to set the page size in Interface builder?

Generate html page

I am wanting to call a procedure which has all the html code in it to generate the HTML page. The procedure has the <html> and <body> tags within.
Has anyone tried to do this? If so how would I call the procedure and how would I display the procedure.

I've seen this before - it's called the PL/SQL Web Toolkit.
how would I call the procedure - you could call it directly from a URL that is configured to use modplsql against your database.
how would I display the procedure - if, by that, you mean how would the results be rendered? The results from your PL/SQL procedure (which would make calls to the PL/SQL Web Toolkit functions and procedures) would be streamed back to the requesting browser from modplsql.
By the way, Application Express (nee HTML DB) is built on top of the PL/SQL Web Toolkit and modplsql. That's exactly how it works.

I am trying to create a solution for an area of the world with very low bandwidth and trying to determine what the size in KB an average page request will be. I tried looking online to figure this out but I am unable to find a reference.

Are you using Http over SSL? If not, the browser should cache the libraries after the first page has been rendered.
When using https, I believe there are specific browser settings that govern whether the libs are cached.
You can try to post this to the JDeveloper forum as well, the UIX team might have additional hints.

Adding custom code in generated HTML pages?

They need to add some custom html code like <META ... tags within the <HEAD.
How to do that?

Use of WHERE clause to get 2 columns from dynamically generated html page.

I am using postgresql.I have to complete a java program , which is a forum like thing.User can login and submit question.....if anybody know the answer he can post the answer........Now the problem is that if more than one questions are entered it all should be displayed when we click on a "faq" button.........i created that one......these questions have the hyperlink.........When we click on a single question a text box will come........we have to write the answer there and answer should lie on the column corresponding the question clicked..............
Here i need the querry to write in servlet so that the answer is stored in the corresponding column only.................

Printing html pages from JSF-JSC created pages

Hi all,
I have a serious problem with my web apps created with JSC using the JSF components. I designed a page full of tables, developed in vertical for a total of about three or four pages scrolling down.
When I try to print the generated page from the browser (Firefox, Safari, Explorer) I always get just the first 'page', the entire webpage generated by my application is not saw as a long page, but just 'cutted' out.
It seems like all JSF components have some problems being like layers or so...any hint? How can I print my html page generated by my web app?

Perhaps viewing the source of the generated html page will give you a clue to what's wrong..

Create pdf from html, how to adjust page size

I have a large html file that I need to convert to a pdf. I am able to open the html in acrobat and save as pdf, but I cannot find where to adjust the page size. When I save the html in acrobat, the saved file is still a single page, but when I open the page in reader, then there are page breaks.
How do I adjust the page size and create a single page document?
There is also a header and footer line that I don't want. How do I get rid of those?

When you open the window for create PDF from web, select the settings. You can adjust the size and header/footer there.

Preferred size of JEditorPane/ HTML page

Hi,
I've loaded an HTML page in a JEditorPane. Since I'm using a layout manager with absolute positioning, I need to know the pane's preferred size.But the preferred size I get is just about (6, 6), although it has a big picture in it. I tried validate() first or to add it with (1,1) to have it set up properly (visible etc.) and then resize it afterwards, but it had no effect. Is there a way to get a preferred size of an HTML page?

I could use this as well. I'm tiling JEditorPanes vertically inside a JPanel using BoxLayout. The problem is that I need to limit the width of the panel, so I need to adjust the sizes accordingly. Any suggestions? I'll give another duke...

Made new html page, I cannot find an pactual font size

Doing DW in a book, Lesson 1 made a html page "two col fixed header footer" There is a text size, an h1, h2 & <p> text size and it is 100% in the body, and 100% in the header, and after lesson #1, it is 90% in the main content, however of what? I went looking as a follow-up of the lesson and I
could not find a reference to an actual size in the css which is in the head. How big is it, where is it established?

All web browsers have a default size for text. Putting 100% in the body style rule means "use the browser default for all fonts". Using 90% later simply means "use 90% of the browser default". The actual size depends on the individual browser.
