Generating Access URL with Mac OS X

OK, I'm really stumped here, and Apple Support has been completely unhelpful. For the life of me I can't generate the access URL in OS X. I can do it fine on a PC (where I had to set the class path in Java), but I can't figure out what's going on with the Mac. Here's what I've done:
% javac /pathto/ItunesU.java
% java /pathto/ItunesU.class >access.html
The resulting HTML file I get merely opens up iTunes and goes to the Music Store. There is no lengthy URL string embedded in it anywhere. My computer has all the necessary software updates, including Java. The ItunesU.java file is IDENTICAL to the one we compiled on the PC (the one that worked), so I know all the shared keys, etc. are correct. What am I doing wrong?

I am with TaishoB.
Here are links to our applets. They aren't actually finished because in the middle of development we decided to use perl instead. It's a bit shoddy. Basically the Applet gets the results from the ITunesU class, creates the html file on the users HDD, and then opens that file.
Here are the links to our source (please be kind, my account onlt gets so much bandwidth per month):
http://robinson.hopto.org/ITunesU.java
http://robinson.hopto.org/ITunesUApplet.java
Look at our version of ITunesU.java also, because we added one small method to make life easier.
But that shoddy code (once you add your own information - I marked that with "YOUR OWN INFO") will only get you so far. you need to pack them into a jar file and then sign it. Then point the applet code on the html file to use the jar archive that you created.
You will find all that info at:
http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/deployment/jar/
I would show you the script that I used, but I have misplaced it.
This will hopefully give you at least the basics of how we got it to work. Like I said, the code is a bit shoddy, but you should be able to get it to work after massaging the code a bit (and working out the bugs).
NOTE: the applet itself does not work. I has textfields to get the info, but right now they are just hard-coded in there. click the button and it will trigger the action. Also, none of this will work unless you jar-it and sign it.
Let me know if you run into trouble.

  • Security error accessing url with crossdomain.xml in InDesign FlexUI

    I'm evaluating Flex as a UI component in an InDesign script. Part of what it needs to do involves retrieving some data from a web server to be displayed in a datagrid. I've written a server running on localhost that will provide this data. Everything works fine when I run the component from Flash Builder or from the HTML wrapper page that is generated during the release build, but once I copy the .swf to the InDesign scripts folder and load it as part of a ScriptUI component, I get a fault response ("security error accessing url") when connecting to the server. I'm running this bit of code in from my Flex client:
    var h:HTTPService = new HTTPService();
    h.url = "http://localhost:8080/elements";
    h.method = "GET";
    h.addEventListener("result", getElementsResult);
    h.addEventListener("fault", getElementsFault);
    h.send();
    From what I've read, I may need a crossdomain.xml file at the root of my host, so I've added that to the server and can see that it is being accessed whenever the flex component attempts to connect to the service.
    My crossdomain.xml file is:
    <?xml version="1.0" ?>
    <!DOCTYPE cross-domain-policy SYSTEM 'http://www.adobe.com/xml/dtds/cross-domain-policy.dtd'>
    <cross-domain-policy>
        <allow-access-from domain="*"/>
    </cross-domain-policy>
    which seems to be correct, from what I understand. I've also tried quite a few other variations (setting explicit site-control policies, etc.). I'm quite new to Flex/Flash and I'm basically stuck at this point. Where might I be going wrong?

    I think sleeping on this one helped... I found that if I serve the .swf from my web server then everything works out fine. Loading it from the local filesystem seems to have been the problem.

  • I cannot access NAS with Mac OS Yosemite

    I 've red other guy's problems in threads like that https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Iomega-Network-Storage/Cannot-connect-from-OSX-Mavericks/td-p/1298155/p... but i haven't found any working solution.
    I just cannot access my NAS from Mac computer with OS X Yosemite v. 10.10.1 installed.
    The Lenovo software I've installed looks crippled. It doesn't even ask me for credentials, just displays a message
    It stands for "There's a problem accessing server "ix2.local." There are no such share on this server. Check share's name and try again. I wrote above I cannot check share's name, because LAM doesn't allow me to enter any credentials. I cannot access any configurations of this program, because he "Preverences" tab in main menu is inactive. At the same time NAS works wee with a Win7 PC plugget to the same LAN.
    I have Lenovo Access Manager 1.4.4.14439 installed
    I have ix2-dl NAS with firmvare v. 4.1.104.31360
    Can anyone help me?

    Hello mordor_warior
    LenovoEMC Storage Manager uses the current Windows/Apple OSX user account to connect with the NAS.  If there is a space in the username or does not meet the username requirements for the NAS,  it can cause this issue due to a permission conflict.
    I recommend trying to unistall LSM for now, then try manually mounting the shares via AFP or SMB/CIFS in finder using a username created on the NAS web interface.
    If you are still unable to access the shares, you should double check that the computer is on the same local network ip range and subnet as the NAS you are having issues accessing.
    You could also try allowing "everyone" permission in the web interface, this would allow LSM to access the shares on the NAS even if the OSX username does not meet the NAS username requirements.

  • Setting up Remote Desktop Apps for access from a Mac with 2FA

    Hi
    Setting up Remote Desktop Apps for access from a Mac with 2FA.
    I have a server 2012 remote access gateway, with remote apps published(which uses single signon), behind a 2FA connection (web based) and want to know if its possible to allow macs to connect to the remote Apps behind it. i cannot permanently remove any
    of the above setup as it is a requirement.
    When i connect from a mac i can login to both the 2FA and remote access web pages and see all the apps but when i click on any app it downloads it to the mac and when i try to run it using Remote Desktop App for MAC i get an error :
    "httpendpointexception: 4, The non-proxy http connection failed to connect with the message: 500 internal Server Error."
    I have tried with 2fa turned off for testing and get the same result.Does it support 2012 TSGW server? does it support Remote desktop apps? as i cant find a definitive answer on either.
    Thanks in advance for any advice.

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    From Error description it seems to be a communication issue between your Mac and your RD gateway server. If you connect from extranet, you may need Remote Desktop Gateway or a VPN/Direct Access connection to your intranet, or forward port 3389 on your router.
    500 Internal Server Error seems to be a HTTP related error.
    The HTTP status code in IIS 7.0, IIS 7.5, and IIS 8.0
    Also, please double check the settings if you have a RD gateway implemented in you intranet.

    In Windows Server 2012 R2 RD Gateway pluggable authentication is also introduced. This allows custom authentication routines to be used with RD Gateway. For example building a two-factor solution on top of RD Gateway is now possible which allows doing token-authentication
    to the RD Gateway which works seamlessly with RD Web Access or RDP file launching.
    Please check below article for more information.
    Windows Server 2012 R2 is coming what does this add to RDS – VDI
    In addition, please provide the log file from the client for further research.

    Hope it helps!

    Open the Time Machine pane in System Preferences. If it shows that Time Machine is ON, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner, if necessary, to unlock it. Scroll to the bottom of the list of backup drives and click Add or Remove Backup Disk. Remove all the disks, then add them back. Quit System Preferences. Test.

    I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
    I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
    I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
    In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
    If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • Now that flashplayer is not compatible with Mac how do I access video and TV etc

    Is there an alternative to flash player now that it cannot be used with Mac - I am unable to access live TV or any moving images eg video clips. iOS 10.6.8

    Who told you that? Adobe has older versions of Flash for your computer. Or you can try upgrading your computer's version of OS X in order to use a more recent version of Flash.

    This article says you can keep using your email with devices that don't support iCloud: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4929?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
    I don't know what the required email settings are, though.

  • SMB Share with Access Based Enumeration & Mac OSX 10.8/10.9

    Hello,
    I've been working on a bit of a problem related to some SMB Shares on Windows Server 2012 with Access Based Enumeration with Mac OSX 10.8 & 10.9.
    Basically, we have one network share that mounts for all of our Students & Faculty on campus. Then, based on which security group the user is inside of in Active Directory, they gain access and visibility to different folders. (Basically, if they are members of the graphic design department, they get access to the Graphic Design's folder). All of that is working fine, no problems. From there we have 3 folders that branch off. We have a Distribution, an Open, and a Dropbox folder.
    Distribution is setup as a spot for instructors to have full access, students have read access, They're able to drop files into this locations, to distribute them to their students. This folder is working fine, no problems.
    Open is setup with everyone read/write access across the board. This folder is setup for students to share data to each other, work on projects, etc. This folder is working as intended, no problems.
    Dropbox is the only folder we're having trouble with, i'm assuming because it's settings are the most complex out of the three. The purpose of the drop box is for students to have read/write control over their own content, but not others, and instructors to have read/write over this entire folder.
    Now that I've laid out our Setup, the problem we've encountered, is ONLY occurring inside of the Dropbox folder. When I try to Drag/Drop OR Copy/Paste from another location on the computer into the Dropbox folder, I get a permission error. HOWEVER, if I have a file open, and I click "save as" browse to the dropbox folder, I can save the file into that location without any trouble. Also, on our windows computers, with the same exact users, drag/drop & Copy/Paste work normally.
    Things I've Tried:
    Disabling the .DS_Store - I figured in the drop box, the .DS_Store would be created by the first user who copied a file in, then subsequent users would not have access to the .DS_Store.
    CIFS/SMB1 - I've read that SMB2 can cause some trouble while connecting to SMB Shares, so I tried both connecting via CIFS, and also by forcing back to SMB1, with no fix.
    Am I missing something with this? I've read a lot about people having trouble connecting to SMB Shares, but for us it had not been a problem up until this point. Does anyone know what a possible fix might be for this? I'm sifting through internet searches right now, trying to find a solution, however MOST of the responses I see are regarding the two things I've already tried.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    hi everybody
    I really need some help so here is a little up !

  • Aperture with .mac vs other web hosting sites

    A new guy here with a couple of questions concerning using Aperture to post webpages, etc. I'd really appreciate some advice from you photogs already in the business.
    Disclaimer: Forgive my ignorance, but years of using a PC have turned my brain into mush. Therefore, some of these questions might be quite laughable.
    I'm wanting to set up a website for a photography business. I already have a domain name but am still setting up a website. I use Aperture for most of my work and would like to continue the Apple flow into .mac. However, I am torn over whether I should set up a website for my clients to visit using a .mac account or some other website such as SmugMug
    1. How well does Aperture work with .mac? Do you find it easier to do everything in Aperture and send it out to other websites other than .mac?
    2. How user friendly is .mac for you and your customers?
    3. What advice can you give me in setting up an easy and user-friendly site that gives customers easy access to a professional looking site and still maintain easy business transactions?
    I appreciate your answers.
    Thanks
    Marc S.
    iMac   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    I am a photographer - I have used Macs for over
    twenty years
    I bought Aperture at the same time as a new Mac Book
    Pro - mainly because it is Apple
    Why can I not organise (or even know) where my Photo
    galleries are published! although I have a .mac
    account
    OR have I missed something! John T
    Well, .Mac makes things simpler but also sometimes a bit harder in that it helpfully places things for you...
    You can however change things around after publishing, the thing to do is go to that "iDisk" icon in the finder. There look in the "Sites" folder, and you will find all of the web galleries Aperture (or iWeb) has generated. You can move them from there and the url for anything in that Sites directory will always be "http://homepage.mac.com/<.Mac username/<foldername>" where foldername is the name of a folder in Sites.
    You can use the names there to get an idea of what you have published and also clean things up.
