Generating report automatically.....

I have a reuirement from the users where in they have number of reports generally time bound, say previous week.
The solution they are looking out is to have these reports are generated automatically and sent via email to a specific group mailbox.
Can we achieve the above functionality in Business warehouse, if so how.
Note: I think we need to create a report manually by providing the date range and generating the report and exporting from SAP.
I am not sure whether there is any procedure of this the same automatically.
your inputs will be appreciated.

Can anyone please give me some clues on how to generate reports automatically from report server? e.g. generate daily sales reports on everyday 11:00pm.
Thank you.

You can use scheduling feature of reports.
You need to give in cmd line
schedule=schedule_param
Refer in [ Publishing reports to web - 10G ] (see link below)
the command line param - "schedule"

• Emailing generated reports automatically

hi
I am supposed to generate a notice using oracle reports and send it to the clients if there email exists otherwise store it in the specified destination folder. If the report is sent via email then i need to update the report_email_flag to 'Y'. I have generated the notice using oracle reports 10g but is there a way that i can do implement the logic to automatically email or store them. Please suggest.

Hi Rodolfo,
Below I have pasted 2 examples. Example 1 is what we are currently using as a work around. Example 2 is what I would like to use. In example 2 I also show how I tested the bill_to_email in the subject. This works fine. Just as soon as I move it to the to-parameter it gives an error.
Also to answer your possibility of the bill_to_email being null. This is not the problem as I'm excluding those in the query. I did not see the point of mailing someone without an email address ;-).
thanks for your help.
Example 1:
<destinations>
<foreach>
<mail id="invoices"
to="&<CC_RECIPIENTS>"
cc="&<BILL_TO_EMAIL>"
subject="Facturas &<BILLTO_ATTENTION>">

<include src="headerSection"/>

<attach format="pdf" name="Facturas&<BILLTO_ATTENTION>.pdf" srcType="report" instance="this">
<include src="mainsection"/>
</attach>
</mail>
</foreach>
</destinations>
Example 2:
<destinations>
<foreach>
<mail id="invoices"
to="&<BILL_TO_EMAIL>"
cc="&<CC_RECIPIENTS>"
subject="Facturas &<BILLTO_ATTENTION> (&<BILL_TO_EMAIL>)">

<include src="headerSection"/>

<attach format="pdf" name="Facturas&<BILLTO_ATTENTION>.pdf" srcType="report" instance="this">
<include src="mainsection"/>
</attach>
</mail>
</foreach>
</destinations>

• Closing the report generating engine automatically

how can i close the report generating engine after displaying a report automatically ie when closing the report window the report generating engine also need to be closed. now i have to manually close the report background window also and it becomes annoying to users . i am using the rdf files and not rep files.

There is a parameter ORACLE_SHUTDOWN. Set it to YES.
When you have large, complex reports, the Reports Background engine sometimes eats lots of memory and leads to GPF. If you have lots of GPF when running a report, you should use this parameter.

• Generate AWR Report automatically every day

Hi Friends,
I would like to generate AWR Report automatically every day. How do i do it.
The Start Time will be 00:00 of Previous day and the end Time will be : 00:00 of current day. The File format is html.
Currently i am using awrrpt.sql to generate report manually and i would like to achieve it automatically,I am not sure how to pass the values of start and end time (From which table i can get the values)?
Regards,
DB

Hi, DB.
You may use the below sql script , the sql script generates the AWR report for the duration of 2 days in HTML.
So you  change
1) the where condition as per your requirement,
2) report name in sql script,
3) and convert it as shell or bat script based on your environment, and schedule it in your OS job scheduler / crontab.

• How to generate PDF automatically.

Hello,
I am generating INVOICES using REPORTS 6i.
After created the PDF format, I send to the customer by email.
I would like to do this process automatically.
So how can I generate PDF automatically?
There is any pl/sql functionality available to generated PDF automatically.If so how can I generate similar like report 6i format and symbols (Logo).
Pls give me some ideas.
Thanks,Kannan.K

Kannan,
a scheduler is part of Reports, with which you can automate to generate Reports. There's a Queue Manager with your installation. But for this you need Application Server based Reporting - not Client/Server.
Also it's possible to send an PDF-Report as an EMail-attachment directly. Starting with 9i there's also an PL/SQL-API available (Event-based Reporting).

• Best way to generate report on huge data table

Hi,
I am using Oracle11g.
I want to generate reports on transaction tables containing huge amount of data, on which very frequently DMLs are performing in real time.
i want to keep my report/result in RESULT_CACHE for 15 mins. active. whenever any insert/update runs on main tables the RESULT_CACHE is getting invalidated
my question is can i control/stop RESULT_CACHE relies on(table_name) invalidating, as Oracle11g invalidating RESULT_CACHE automatically.
my requirement is to not hit the main table again&again.
pls help..
Thanks in advance.

It sounds as if you're trying to avoid contention on a very busy large table while users are experimenting with relatively small fractions of the total data set. The type of thing you're doing is probably about the best approach - though it sounds as if you are not using global temporary tables which could save you a bit of time and contention when refreshing each private data set.
Ideally, though, you probably want a front end tool that does client-side caching - i.e. pulls the data into the front-end tool and lets the user rearrange it cosmetically there until the user explicitly requests a new trip to the database. I think Oracle Discoverer has (had) some capability in this area. What's the scale of the work the users are doing - can you give us a few scenarios about how much raw data they will extract and what they want to do with it before they refresh it ?

P.S. Oracle does have client-side caching technology - but your ability to use it is dependent on the tools you use. You might want to go over to one of the developer or BI forums to see what they say about this problem; they may give you a different perspective on it.

• Using MAX API to generate report

I am trying to automate a software installation procedure through the use of the NIMAX_GenerateReport() function. We have a software installation that requires a manual edit operation after the installation. After installing the software the user examines the memory range of a 6602 counter/timer card in NI-MAX and then edits the value into an INI file that the software reads at run time.
I am exploring the possibility of automating this step by having the installer call the NIMAX_GenerateReport() function to generate an XML report and then read the memory range from the XML report file and finally edit the INI file with the memory range value read from the report. To test this out I wrote a small command line LabWindows program that called the generate report function. It worked fine on my build machine but when I tried to run it on the target machine I get the following error return from the generate report function call: "An unknown error occurred". The version of NI-MAX on the target PC is 3.1 and the version on the build PC is 4.6.2. I was wondering if the version of NI-MAX on the target PC is too old to support the NI-MAX API. My questions are:
1. Is this a valid way to programmatically obtain the memory range information from the 6602 card or is there a better way?
2. How can I upgrade the version of NI-MAX on the target PC. I'm not sure what installs it.
Thanks,
Jim

Hello Jim,
The way you are going about your coding sounds correct. Per your second question, MAX installs when you update the computer drivers. To do this go to ni.com/drivers, search for DAQmx, and then download the most current version of DAQmx that is compatible with your computers. By installing a newer version of DAQmx MAX will automatically be updated.

• E-Mail Summary Report and Detailed Report Automatically

Hi, I have just started a new job (1st IT job since leaving college) and I've been told that our Small Business Server 2011 used to email a Summary Report directly to a specified email address, as well as a weekly Detailed Report to the same email address,
but that has stopped sending reports now. How do i make sure that the reports are automatically generated and sent out via email to the specified address. Any help would be great.

Hi,
Based on your description, I understand that there some issue occurred in Report feature in the SBS 2011.
On current situation, please refer to following steps and troubleshoot this issue. Then check if can help you.
1. Login the SBS server. Please open Windows SBS Console and select
Reports tab. In the Reports panel, select a report (Summary or Detailed), then View report properties. In Report Properties page, please select
E-Mail Options to check if had added the correct user account or e-mail address. Also please select Schedule tab, and check if had configured correctly.
2. Then manually click
Generate report option in Tasks. Please check if successfully generated the report. If not, please refer to following TechNet article and repair Monitoring and Reporting features in the SBS server. Then monitor the result.
Repair Monitoring and Reporting Features
in Windows Small Business Server 2011 Standard
3. If generated the report successfully, please manually click
Generate report and e-mail report option in Tasks. Then check if run successfully. Or any error message occurred?
4. If this issue still exists, please refer to following path: C:\Program Files\Windows Small Business Server\Logs\MonitoringServiceLogs and check if there has some log files
which be related to Report (Summary or Detailed). If has, please check if can find some more clues. Meanwhile, please open Event Viewer and check if find some relevant errors. Those may hope us to go further analyze.
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
Hope this helps.

• How to fetch latest data from database instead of clicking on Generate report in RSRT?

Hi all,
We are not able to get latest data of BEx query.Everytime we have to click on Generate Report button in RSRT for getting latest value.
Is there any way to get latest value automatically? We are not doing any changes in query.
When we click on Generate Report it is fetching data from Database instead of cache,so if it is possible to disable cache or any other workaround?
We have used time(0TIME) characteristic in query as a formula variable. We have applied a condition on that variable to fetch the first record (latest value). When we click on generate report, it fetches correct value with latest time but when we run the query without generate report, it is not fetching latest value. The cube on which this query is developed, is a realtime cube.
Regards,
Zalak

Once its in the request attributes it would be far better to use JSP Expression Language as well as the JSTL that Malcolm suggested So if the servlet code said:
request.setAttribute("myList", al);Then using EL and the JSTL tags from <%@taglib prefix="c" uri="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core" %> the JSP would look something like:
<c:forEach items="${myList}" var="user">

<c:out value="${user.name}" />

<c:out value="${user.fname}" />

<c:out value="${user.city}" />

<c:out value="${user.cont}" />

<c:out value="${user.age}" />

</c:forEach>

• Auto.generate report

Hello,
I'd like to know if BEx has any capability to automatically generate reports based on number of specific input.
For example, if there were 500 customers, will BEx be able to generate the same report format for 500 customers without manually input customer id?
If customer number is not in order, to specify range of customer id might not be possible.
Or could it be done on portal?
Any suggestion?
