Generic Datasource on table IMRG in R/3- delta on timestamp is it ok ?

I am creating Generic datasource based on table IMRG in R/3, This has stoppages related data. which we need in BI report. There is a field for Time-stamp in the table, i have checked values in table IMRG, but in R/3 it shows no data for the time-stamp.
Now i want to create delta basis for this generic datasource based on table, so shall i create delta based on time-stamp or date field.
If I create delta based on time-stamp will it create problem in delta extraction subsequently? Please share your experience in such a cases.

There is a field for Time-stamp in the table, i have checked values in table IMRG, but in R/3 it shows no data for the time-stamp.
Delta specific field should be something which defines changes in your table, not something which is blank always.Based on the change in this delta specific field only delta will be pulled.Having it blank will never pull you delta.

hi zahir,
In your case the reference table used for quantity is ekko and the field is meins.
and the reference table used for currency is ekpo and the field is waers.
So you are not taking data from a single table. so you better create a view give the table name ekbe and select the corresponding fields you want.
Add MEINS and WAERS and as well your required field in the view for example Zview and for Quantity field mention Zview as reference table and reference field as MEINS same for WAERS.
try this if it doent work, tell me what error you are facing.

I am using Generic Datasource first time i run init next time i want to run the delta, delta is sucessful but 0 records. i am taken date field and new status fileds(DSO) for DSO. R/3 side table values chaging but not replicate to BI. Can any suggest how to run the delta for Generic Datasource.

Have you set delta pointers in your Generic datasource? if yes then what it is ? try to see if its logically related with your changes in records or you need to use any other type of delta pointer.

Error while creating datasource from table MBEWH

I am facing an error message while creating datasource from table MBEWH

      This was comming for classification data... when ever you want to extract some classification related data then we can't create generic datasources directly.. for that you need to go with CTBW ( tcode ) and   create one datasource...
   so, you need to check that   related table also.. for that MBEWH table..
    ALL THE CLASSIFICATION RELATED DATASOURCES WE CAN'T CREATE DIRECTLY... JUST LIKE AUSP table also.. liek this..

all the reports contain the same tables Mentione below
MAST- material to BOM LINK
STKO- BOM header
STPO- BOM ITEM
STAS- BOM ITEM SELECTION
how should i create ageneric datsource satisfying that all the data comes from these tables without fail of deltas,
my doubts.1. Do i have to create a separate data sources (generic) for all these individually and load into separate ODS'S AND CLUB THEM into single ODS further.?
if i create i dont know what should be delta field that has to be picked for each datasource
2. Do i have to create a view on all these tables and create a generic datasource.if created what would be the delta field i have to select.
could you pls let me know how should i pull the data without loosing any deltas

It does not matter whether to extract from table or view in order not to loose delta.
You need to identify a field in the table /view that can be delta enabled.
Go to RSO2 and define the data source and you will see a push button for delta and click that and set the settings for delta field.

Generic Datasource Delta Settings Change

Hi Experts,
Currently the delta field in generic datasource is set to timestamp (LOCAL) and Upper limit is blank.
I need to change the delta settings to timestamp(UTC) or set the upper limit to 1000 seconds.
Can anyone tell me how to change this in production. Do i need to change this in dev and transport this to production.
If i do the changes to generic datasource, do i have to initialise the delta again?
Pls provide me the step by step solution.

Ananda, What about the delta initialization? After transporting the datasource from R/3 dev to R/3 production, I have to replicate the datasource right.
In that case what will happen to my delta?.
One more thing incase i need to change only the upper limit value. Even for this, do i have to change it in dev and transport to production?

Time Lag using Timestamp - Generic Datasource

Hello,
I have a generic datasource running in production now. It uses the timestamp for the delta.
Currently the delta runs twice a day - once around 7 am and then again around 1 pm.
I have the upper limit set at 1800 seconds (30 minutes) and no lower limit however when I looked today at the 1 pm pull, the last set of records was pulled up to 9 am. I was surprised. I thought it should have been closer to 12 noon.
This data is constantly updated in ECC - for example. In a 30 minute window, the record count started at 1,966,206 and jumped to 1,966,297.
Has anyone else experienced this lag time? If so, how did you handle it.
I heard from one person that it could be because the application server time is different than the local time of entry. If that is true, how could I resolve that?
I would just like the deltas to bring in the data closer to the time of the pull.

we are using descrete manufacturing method to keep track the Work in process and cost .
for addition of components manually in the production order we can track thru change date i.e From AUFK table with field name AEDAT. for each time when we are adding the components the system will create a new line item In tableRESB-OBJNR(field)
i need very few fields from RESB table to be pulled into SAP BW.
how should i proceed creating a generic exractor without any loss of deltas.
i want to get data from only resb table into sap bw.

Generic delta with timestamp

do let us know these details..
Why dont u try using any other fields like changed on or some other fields which will satisfy ur requirement..?
Is ur Init is done successfully?... and do u see an entry in the table ROOGENDELTM table....
This table will be having an entry for the generic extractors which are with the Delta's..

Hi Rao,
Delta based on timestamp based on generic datasource only works if any one of the tables contains timestamp field(not time and date fields separately).
I dont think by combining date & time fields will give you correct results.
Regarding time zone: Use SAP system time zone.

I'm writing a function module to fetch price, for generic datasource.
At first, extract test is OK. But InfoPackage never stop when loading data to PSA in BW.
And I find the example codes:

'table does not exist' when creating generic datasource

I went to SBIW->Business Content DataSources->Transfer Business Content DataSources-chose "content delta". it said 'comparison bct <-> cust version ' then it counted thru several objects for a few minutes and finished with no warnings.
then I selected each datasource under co-om-cca and activated those with no problems.
problem: now when i try to create came generic datasource using co-om-cca application component i get mssg when saving 'the specified table does not exist'...so now it isn't even letting me create a datasource at all using a standard application component either.
I have been having many problems with creating datasources and using application components and this is why I did the first paragraph because I don't know what else to try.

I have answered my own question. I wasn't entering the view/table and it was my own complete oversight.

Generic datasource based on custom table and hierarchy table

I have a doubt regarding generic datasource.
my requirement: to create a datasource with 10 fields. (7 fields from custom table and 3 fields whose values can be derived from a hierarchy table).
I have a custom table. In this table one field refers to a hierarchy table. Using this hierarchy table, we can derive values to 3 new fields.
My question is, If i create a generic datasource based on the custom table, how can i include the extra 3 fields which gets values from the hierarchy table.
Where can i write the logic to extract the values for those 3 fields from the hierarchy table.

when I convert a PR into PO, this PR was created several month ago, this PR will not be caught into delta package.

If you have any fields(calday,timestamp,nemric pointer) in your table , using this fields any one we can enable delta.otherwise one option is there but your table is small valoum of datas.
first data load(full) r3 to bw side cube,then using open hub service download data from cube to any file (excel ,csv) then r3 side create one table using that flat file, then load download file to r3 new table using (LSMW - tcode r3 side).
now compare your genric extroction table and new table using ABAP coding , then you have any new record or changed find update new table first then BW side .
using this type we can enable delta for genric extrocation.
