Generic third party connection supported?

I was trying to configure a ssh jdbc driver, it works in SQuirrel, wondering if it is supported in Oracle SQL developer? Previous post said generic third party connection URL isn''t available until 2.0. Can someone confirm with that? Thank you!

We do not support generic 3rd party JDBC connections (beyond the non generic jdbc connections explicitly declared supported in the documentation).

  • Third Party Database Support in SQL Developer

As a rule I don't (blatantly) advertise my blog on this forum, but I have just had feedback from my recent posting which made realize you might not have stumbled on this new functionality. i.e. Third Party Database Support in SQL Developer. <br>
<p>In the Evaluation Release 3 (1.1.0.22.71) you can connect to and browse MySQL and SQL Server databases. The Getting Started document on OTN, does mention where to get the jdbc drivers and briefly, how to set it up in SQL Developer. This blog entry takes that a step further.
<p>If you have access to either of these databases, please take a whirl and see what you think. For production you will also be able to connect to an MS Access database.
    <p>Regards<br>
    Sue

The great thing, as you see from Donal's reply, is that other teams can take advantage of SQL Developer's framework, so we have a few teams working on extensions to SQL Developer and the product benefits from the work they do.
From the SQL Developer team's side, we have logged and fixed bugs for 8i support in 1.1. since the last evaluation drop, so when you get the next drop for SQL Developer, you should be able to browse more objects using 8i. Also I have logged further 8i bugs and will continue to have more fixed. This is an ongoing project. We also have a number of features that need to be added to support current releases and try to give these a high priority. So the team is focused on addressing as many requests as we can for supported features.
We know we have many customers on unsupported databases and would like to support them too, having said that, we have run a poll on this forum for ages and have had 7.5% (22) responses for databases lower than 9.x. It's a small poll, but based on all our feedback we believe we have the right focus.

  • The third party database supported by SAP BW

    Hi
Apart from SAP R/3 , my client has a historical data in thier legacy system so called  MFG/PRO, they wondering if SAP BW is allow to connect to such system.  Anyone know where I can check the third party database supported by SAP BW ?
    Panadda

    Hi:
The native SAP NetWeaver BI functionality delivered to connect with such a system is called UDconnect ("BW" is an old term).
    Here are some resources
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/78/ef1441a509064abee6ffd6f38278fd/frameset.htm
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/58f4db47-0501-0010-a2bf-ff01b150fdff
You should be able to find a JDBC or ODBO driver for such a system that can work with UDconnect.
Thanks for any points you choose to assign.

  • Third Party Component Support in Design View

    in this article:"
    http://flexwiki.adobe.com/confluence/display/ADOBE/Flex+Builder+3+Planning"
    the follow is shown:
Third Party Component Support in Design View
    Planned milestone: M3
Flex Builder should have better support for third-party
components in design view. Also, the components view and the
properties view should be just as good for 3rd party components as
it is for Adobe Flex components like charting and advanced data
    grid controls.
    * The component author should be able to specify the
    category for the Components panel.
    * The component author should be able to control the
Standard View property sheet including the Common and Style
    categories
    * A component developer should be able to deliver a single
component in a SWC that contains all appropriate information
    * The component author should be able to include Design view
extension code to specify Design View surface behavior
    * The component author should be able to specify the default
code that gets inserted when a component is dropped on the stage
I wonder how to specify the category for my components, is
that some compile options or some configure file?
    thx

    /bump
Noone any information about that topic? This would be a great
    usability enhancement...

  • Not able to see tables in third party connection

    Hello All,
I am using Sql Developer early adopter release to migrate from SQL Server to Oracle Database.
I have created the third party sql server connection in sql developer.
Although the migration process is sucessfull, but i cannot see the tables under that connection(ie sql server connection),even though i have given priveliges to all the tables for the user through which I am connecting.
Anything I am missing here, please help.
    Thanks & Regards
    Sulakshana

    Sulakshana ,
firstly, you should use the production release 1.2 which is out now.
Secondly, in sql server, make sure your user has read privs on the db you are testing. I know you have granted privs here, but make sure this is the case in the enterprise manager. The reason I say this is that we show only what you have explicit access to, nothing more.
Try adding the datareader role to the user in sql server too, which should help you too
    Barry

  • The 'Third Party Connections' drop down box on the 'Source Database' step in the Migration Wizard is empty.

    Here are the environmental details:
    SQLDeveloper 32-bit Version 3.2.20.09 (Build MAIN-09.87)
Oracle Database:  12C single instance (no RAC)
    Oracle client:  12C 32 bit
    Windows 64 bit desktop
I am attempting to migrate an MS Access application to Oracle.  I pick the ‘Migrate’ selection from the ‘Tools’ Menu SQL Developer.  This puts me into the Migration Wizard.  When I get to the ‘Source Database’ step of the migration wizard, the ‘Choose the Third Party database from which you are migrating’  drop-down box is not being populated with the current available connections. It is empty.  If I type a valid connection name into the box, SQL Developer takes it on this screen but does not keep it for the next screen/step.  It has no persistence.  I even tried to make sure that each connection was open/connected before beginning the migration process.
Due to the fact that I am attempting to migrate an MSAccess application, I am mixing 32-bit and 64 bit software.  This may be the issue as to why the drop down is losing addressability.  I have not applied any patches to this version of SQL Developer.

    Hi,
If you need easy way to migrate Microsoft Access to Oracle probably it is more reasonable to review some tools specially designed to this purpose. For example:
Access to Oracle converter by Intelligent Converters
Access to Oracle converter by SpectralCore
Access to Oracle converter by Interface Computers
    Hope, this will help.
    Sincerely,
    Vlad

  • New update adds third-party remote support. I could use mine already!

    I am a little confused.
    Appletell states-
"The update also allows users to use third party remotes with their Apple TV, which has been a long standing request from many users"
This is saying, to me, that you can use a third-party remote to control TV functions.
If that's the case, I have been doing that ever since I got it, using my universal remote for all my tv-connected devices including my TV (I got it to learn the Apple remotes signals). Could someone please elaborate on this?

It's not really for universal remotes - which normally come with a database of codes to use with a wide variety of devices. It's for the remotes that can normally control another device - for example:
My Samsung TV remote has the ability to control a Samsung DVD player. Although i haven't got the DVD player, the buttons are on the remote anyway (Play, Pause, Fast Forward, etc).
I can now map those buttons the the ATV - in fact i gave it a go and it worked fine. However, i've put that back in the cupboard as i have a universal remote like you thats been doing it for ages.
    Cheers

  • Has anyone had problems with Domayne using generic third party RAM for memory upgrades? My RAM is now faulty and had to be removed, but Apple wont replace it under Apple Care because its not a genuine component?

The computer was purchased in the knowledge that all components and hardware were genuine and subsequently covered by the Apple Care warranty.
Domayne replaced the genuine components (8GB stick) with generic components (2x 16GB sticks) to save money and boost margin.
Apple should not allow this misleading, profiteering behaivour. This behaviour is brand damaging. Apple must maintain more control over their supply chain.
Has anyone had any expirenece with this problem?
Has anyone made Domayne or other third party resellers acountable for this misleading behaviour?
    Thank you.

Stick with Brand name RAM and reputable distributors.  Mac is finicky about low quality RAM
    Try OWC http://www.macsales.com/
    Crucial http://www.crucial.com/
Most RAM comes with Lifetime guarenntee so return it where you got it.

Does anyone know if third party IP phones are supported in UCCX 8 contact center working environment?

They are not. Supported phone models are inclusively listed in the compatibility guide: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cust_contact/contact_center/crs/express_compatibility/matrix/crscomtx.pdf

  • Using work manager for third party connections

Folks we are trying implement work manager to
Allthough WL is self tuning, and you could "increase the internal socket pool", you have to fully understand the implications of this.
-It increases the # of threads, which ultimately degrades performance, due to the amount of context switching which would have to occur (this is at the application layer)... in general
-It will require additional memory, of which, we'd need to account for this, otherwise, it can run the WL instance out of memory, if we're in a fault condition
Let me explain this "fault" condition a little further...
There's a BIG difference between a 3rd party being down, and a 3rd party being able to respond to our request, but unable to process it in a timely fashion (i.e. they're overloaded, or the tcp connection is happening properly, but the application response from the 3rd party isn't properly responding/working in a timely fashion). We've seen this condition on a # of occasions and need to be able to have a max limit or governor on each 3rd party... of which, my understanding of WL work managers allows for this (I do have to note, I am not experienced with these, and my knowledge is only with what I've had time to read on). Ultimately, I'm trying to prevent the condition I've seen in a # of serious "slow downs" or hang-ups within the application... we should NOT be able to have 3rd party calls hamper the performance or availability of our application

Note that you can reduce the context switching by 'pinning' certain CPUs to handle, for example, the network interrupts.
You can use (on Linux): cat /proc/interrupts (shows information related to hard interrupts).
    From http://middlewaremagic.com/weblogic/?p=8133
"In a multi-processor environment, interrupts are handled by each processor. Two principles have proven to be most efficient when it comes to interrupt handling:
Bind processes that cause a significant amount of interrupts to a CPU. CPU affinity enables the system administrator to bind interrupts to a group or a single physical processor (of course, this does not apply on a single CPU system). To change the affinity of any given IRQ, go into /proc/irq/<number of respective irq>/ and change the CPU mask stored in the file smp_affinity. To set the affinity of IRQ 19 (which in the above example is the network interface card) to the first CPU, we can use echo 2 > /proc/irq/19/smp_affinity."
To configure a work manager properly, you have to throttle the maximum threads and the capacity. The maximum number of threads are the number of threads
that are allowed to run simultaneously. Usually, you set this equal to some resource (such as the number of connections in a data source). This to prevent
contention for that resource (otherwise the thread would be waiting for the resource and thus consuming CPU cycles by polling if can go or not). When the maximum
is reached no other threads are spawned to run. The request that comes in is put into a piece of work and stays that way until an execute thread comes available
to process that work. The number of work instances you allow in your heap can be set by the capacity constraint (which thus throttles the memory consumption).
When the capacity is reached, new requests are rejected.

  • Wrt400n to get third party ddwrt support

Since this router is simlar to the 160 /610 models and proven to be a fast and hardy model  the brain at ddwrt has decided to look into making it run on this model.
Porting it over shouldn't be too hard because of simlatries in the models and the firmware it already runs.
One must remeber though that this kills the warrenty so its your choice.
Will the stock firmware isn't that bad it has bugs with vpn and rebooting every now and then which linksys hasn't adressed yet.
I for one greatly look forward to ddwrt running on this as they fix bugs fast and update the firmware often (not to mention all the extra features).

For those wondering we are presently testing ddwrt on the wrt400n thanks to the brain.
Simple gui upload is needed and it comes in two parts (one to prepare and the firmware itself)
    30/30/30 reset is strongly suggested
Can be found in the atheros forum.
Please be sure to give feedback as this will very quickly improve the firmware.
Also thank the man himself for making us all much happier.
The first firmware is remarkably solid for the first version.
