Georaptor for sqldeveloper and jdeveloper ?

Hi,
georaptor is an add in for sqldeveloper to handle spatial data.
question: can georaport be used as add in for JDeveloper, and - if so - how to install it ?
Leo

If you are building a Java extension, then you can port them relatively easily between the two as SQL Developer is built on the JDev IDE. Extensions do need to be adapted for whether they go into JDev or SQL Developer, but there are a few customer extensions available for both.
If you have specific technical questions regarding this, then pose those and the developers will get back to you.
SQL Developer is now available in JDeveloper. You can download the latest JDeveloper 11g (Beta) release to see this.
(There is also a SQL Developer plugin now available for Eclipse. This is an early adopter release.)

  • Sqldeveloper and jdeveloper cannot connect to xe service

I just installed xe on my pc.  I can get into sqlplus create users, tables data etc.  Everything seems to work.  I can also run lsnrctl and everything seems to be ok.  I can also do a tnsping and get a positive response.  sqldeveloper and jdeveloper both get errors when I try and connect.
I used to get an error indicating that the listener did not know about the XE service or sid (tried it both ways).  I changed the node names that were in the listener.ora file to localhost and the error changed to a 17002.  I am now getting the original 12514.  listener does not know the service in the connect descriptor.  How do I fix this?  It has not worked since I installed it.
    Thanks,
    Russell

I have tried using sqldeveloper and defining a connection.  I have also tried defining a connection in jdeveloper and that fails in the same way.  I have also tried using sqlplus user/pass@XE and that fails the same way.  The tnsnames.ora, listener.ora are all in the default location.  ...server\network\ADMIN.
    lsnrctl returns the following:

  • GeoRaptor for SQLDeveloper 4.x

GeoRaptor, the popular free and open source spatial plugin for SQLDeveloper, currently only runs within SQLDeveloper version 3.2.  Oracle have improved SQLDeveloper significantly in version 4.0, and are now preparing to release 4.1. Meanwhile GeoRaptor users are stuck with using the older release of SQLDeveloper as the extensibility framework changed in version 4.0 – to make GeoRaptor compatible will require some significant code changes.
Simon Greener has been the primary developer of GeoRaptor for the past few years and has invested a significant amount of unpaid time in getting it to where it is today.  The development effort to support SQLDeveloper 4.x will take more than few hours of free time so some funding will be required.  A crowdsourcing site has been setup to enable this:
    https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/georaptor-4-0#home
A very modest target of $1,000 has been set to fund the initial port to 4.x – hopefully this will be exceeded and any additional funding that is raised will go towards a round of development to help iron out bugs, improve usability and look at adding additional functionality.
If you have found GeoRaptor of use in the past and would like to see its development continue, then please get behind this crowdfunding campaign and donate via the link above.  Also, to help focus the development, please add comments to the site to indicate what you find useful about GeoRaptor, what bugs/issues you have found and what improvements and new features you would like to see added.
    Thank you,
    John O’Toole

Come on folks... $473 as of now of the $1000 goal.
I admit that I don't use it often - but when I need that specific tool, it can be invaluable.
Just 27 people at $20 will put it over the top.

  • Wiki for OC4J and JDeveloper

    Hi,
I'm not sure this is the correct place for this question. But here it goes:
Is there an Wiki engine that is designed especially for oc4j? or does any of you have and wiki engine that works on oc4j?

We don't have one specifically designed for OC4J but there are several I have seen running it:
    - Confluence - we are using/evaluating this a little internally for some projects at Oracle. It is a commercial offering here: http://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/. Seems very high quality.
    - Yawiki (Java version, not PHP) - we are shipping this as a free pre-certified Wiki with WebCenter, our interaction platform ala Portal for ADF developers. http://yawiki.jzonic.org/page/show.jz - we didn't want to force a commercial license on our WebCenter customers so this one is a free, reasonably solid engine.
    - JSPWiki - http://www.jspwiki.org/Wiki.jsp - again I have seen this used internally at Oracle and it is running on OC4J. Again, works like a champ.
Some ideas - hope one of them works for you - hard for me to say good or bad about any as they all seem to work fine though I haven't mucked administratively with any.
    Mike.

    Hi RusseIIM,
Even i am facing the same issue.
when my office PC is connected to n/w, nothing workson OracleXE.
    If not everything works fine.
My PC is secured with Mcaffee.
    can any one help?
    Thanks & regards,
    Vamshi P.

Take a look (in a cmd box) at your `ipconfig /all` output. If there truly is no network interfaces configured, starting up a listener won't work very well with the out-of-the-box setup.
Doesn't matter how its configured, when there is no network, there is no way to (reliably) start a listener. Depending on how the host networking was configured at install time, the %ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\listener.ora file may require some adjustment(s).
A possible workaround might be setting the ...HOST= to the 0.0.0.0 "any IP" address. That might get the listener to service the loopback interface when all other network interfaces are unavailable. Its localhost a.k.a. 127.0.0.1, and the *only* place one can hit the 127.0.0.1 address is when one tries from that particular host. Loopback is mainly used to check if TCP/IP is installed/configured.

    Hi -K-
actually I want to make SqlDeveloper to make case insensitive search.
when I google, I've found to make oracle as case insensitive I need to set NLS_SORT to Binary_CI and NLS_COMP to LINGUISTIC
Default SQLDEVELOPER NLSParmeters values are as NLS_SORT---->Binary and NLS_COMP--->Binary
Now I want to make these as NLS_SORT---->Binary_CI and NLS_COMP--->LINGUISTICS.
    thanks,

  • GeoRaptor for SQL Developer 1.1

The GA release of GeoRaptor does not seem to work for the latest version of SQL Developer 1.1. GeoRaptor is an extension to SQL Developer to view spatial data. GeoRaptor adds a context menu option to tables containing Oracle Spatial data types and a window to view spatial data.
The context menu option does not show up anymore in SQL Developer 1.1.
At the moment of this writing, there is no official patch available for this issue.
For the time being I've made the CVS head revision (1.7) of GeoRaptor available till the GA is officially being released.
To install this unofficial version of GeoRaptor, Start SQL Developer, select Help -> Check for Updates..., press Add and enter GeoRaptor for the name and http://testnext.com/oracle/sqldeveloper/georaptor-20070207/install.xml as location.
    Enjoy using GeoRaptor,
    Cheers,
    Jeroen van Schaijk

    Hi *,
I also second that : My SQL Dev 1.5 also does not work very well with the GeoRaptor plug in. When i add a table to spatial view nothing showed up but no error displayed.
I thought it was just me (my platform).
Here is my platform (dunno if it's relevant)
    * OS : MS Windows Vista Ultimate
    * Oracle Database 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.6.0)
Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows 32-bit
    * JDK 1.6.0_03 build 1.6.0_03-b05
My SQL developer version 1.2.1 (in Windows Vista) works well with georaptor, connected to Oracle 11gR1 (locally under Vista) or 10gR2 (in other machine under Windows XP Home).
So the problem probably in SQL Developer 1.5.
    thanks

  • How to use wsit with jeveloper for developing and testing web servises

hi, all. Just want to ask one realy simple quastion.
I'm new with web servises, so my question may be doesn't fall well into this section , but this community looks friendly for me and i hope to get some usefull links and advises.
First of all could anybody say me if i'm righ or wrong with the following suggestions:
    1. What is the principal difference between axis 2 and wsit products? Do i understand right that they both extend or support so called jax-ws2 API and represent different approaches in that (are they competitors?), or this products serve for different sakes at all and could be used together? I want to understand without much digging how these products correlate with each other...
    2. If i'm right what is oracle favor? And if oas standard supply doesn't include wsit, how to install and use this product for creating interoperable web servises in jdeveloper enviroment? ...or jax-ws 2.1 wasn't included in oc4j v10 and will be the part of v11 only?
    Thanks in advance. Alex.

Both Axis and WSIT are not Oracle products - so I'm not exactly sure why would you post the question here.
JDeveloper has native support for JAX-RPC based Web services development in 10.1.3 and JAX-WS support in 11 - check out the online demos linked from the home page to see these in action.

  • XSLT and XQuery recommendation for BPEL and OSB

    Hi,
    1. Why is XQuery recommeded for OSB and XSLT for BPEL. Are there any specific performance optimization reason behind this.
    2. Apart from OSB and BPEL, both XSLT and XQuery has xml transformation options and creating HTML. What is the difference between these two.
    Thanks in advance!

you can create the graphical view of Xquery in Eclipse but not for XSLT
Xquery is much faster than XSLT in OSB.
Through XSLT however you can achieve more complex transformation.
OSB has its historic origins in BEA Aqalogic stable and so Xquery was widely used used even though XSLT is supported. It is a matter of choice(your standards in your organization, your developer skillsets, your re-usable libraries etc )
In Jdeveloper you can develop xslt in graphical mode though and attain complex transformation

  • Soa 11g and jdeveloper 11g user defined extension function

I have developed a set of extension functions,
in design time for the previous version, I can put the deployment file (jar file) that contains the extension functions in the %JDEV_HOME%\jdev\lib\ext directory and jdeveloper recognizes the set of extension functions if previously i have defined an xml descriptor with every one of the functions i need to include in the panel.
Now, with the jdeveloper 11g i have tried the same, and jdev recognizes the functions, but when I am going to test one transformation that includes the extension function, the parser is not founding the jar file; the error (in spanish) is:
XML-22045: (Error) Error de funcion de extension: No se ha encontrado la clase '

La clase que falta no esta disponible desde ningun origen de codigo o cargador del sistema.
    my dude is:
+ at design time, where can I put the jars with extension functions to make one transformation function used in a mediator component can works fine?
+ at runtime, where can I put those libraries? (in the previous version, we can put this libraries in the %APP_SERVER%\j2ee\home\applib, or create one shared library and reference it in the oracle.bpel.common shared library declaration of the server.xml configuration file).

    Hi,
please post this question to the JDeveloper 11 forum. Please translate the messages into English as well

  • InterMedia Java Classes for Servlets and JSPs and Netscape

I am using the interMedia Java Classes for Servlets and JSPs to upload and retrieve multimedia data. I have found that it is much more performant in Internet Explorer (5.5) than in Netscape Communicator (4.7). In fact, I cannot upload images larger than 10K at all using netscape. However, the same image can be uploaded into the same application using IE. Is this a known issue?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
We have successfully uploaded multimedia data in the giga-byte range (Quicktime and AVI files) at the same speed with both the Netscape (4.7n) and MS IE (4.n and 5.n) browsers. One thing we have noticed is that its very important to set the manual proxy settings correctly if you have an environment with a proxy server. If you don't, then uploads can go via the proxy server and, for some reason, that seems to take considerably longer. For example, suppose you are in the www.xyzco.com domain and are connecting to a host named webserver.www.xyzco.com, then specify webserver and webserver.www.xyzco.com (to cover both cases) in the "Do not use proxy servers for..." box in the manual proxy server configuration screen. Also, if you're using a tool such as JDeveloper that uses the host IP address in the debugger environment, then you also need to add the numeric-based (nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn) IP address to this list.
    Hope this helps.
In order to better understand the variety of ways in which our customers are using interMedia, we'd be very interested in knowing a little more about your application, the interMedia functionality that you are using, and how you are developing and deploying your application. If you are able to help us, please send a short email message with some information about your application, together with any comments you may have, to the Oracle interMedia Product Manager, Joe Mauro, at [email protected] Thank you!

  • Oracle performance, slow for larger and more complex results.

    Hello Oracle forum,
At the moment i have a Oracle database running and i'm specifically interested in the efficiency spatial extension for webmaps and GIS.
I've been testing the database with large shape files (400mb - 1gigabyte) loaded them into the database with shp2sdo->sql*loader.
Using Benchmark factory i've test the speed of transactions an these drop relatively quickly. I've started with a simple query:
SELECT id FROM map WHERE id = 3 when I increase the amount of id's to 3-10000 the performance decreases drastically.
    so :
SELECT id FROM map WHERE id >=3 and id <= 10000
The explain plan shows the second query , both query's use the index.
    | Id | Operation | Name | Rows | Bytes | Cost (%CPU)| Time |
    | 0 | SELECT STATEMENT | | 9828 | 49140 | 22 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    |* 1 | INDEX RANGE SCAN| SYS_C009650 | 9828 | 49140 | 22 (0)| 00:00:01 |
    Statistics
    0 recursive calls
    0 db block gets
    675 consistent gets
    0 physical reads
    0 redo size
134248 bytes sent via SQL*Net to client
7599 bytes received via SQL*Net from client
    655 SQL*Net roundtrips to/from client
    0 sorts (memory)
    0 sorts (disk)
    9796 rows processed
The statistics does not show very weird stuff, but maybe i'm wrong. Nothing changed in the explain plan except for the range scan instead of a unique scan.
The query returns lots of results and this is I think the reason why my measured time of the query is large. The time it takes returning large amount of rows increases quickly for more rows.
. Can this be solved? The table has been analyzed before starting the query.
The parameters of the database are not really changed from standard, I increased the amount of memory used by Oracle 11g to 1+ gigabyte.
and let the database itself decide how it uses this memory.
The system specs are and db_parameters are:
    Oracle 11G
Memory Processor # of CPUs OS OS Version OS B
    1.99 gb Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz 2 Microsoft WindowsXP 5.2600
0=Oracle decides which value will be given
    cursor_sharing EXACT
    cursor_space_for_time FALSE
    db_block_size 8192
    db_recovery_file_dest_size 2147483648
    diagnostic_dest C:\DBBENCHMARK\ORACLE
    dispatchers (PROTOCOL=TCP) (SERVICE=gistestXDB)
    hash_area_size 131072
    log_buffer 5656576
    memory_max_target 1115684864
    memory_target 1048576000
    open_cursors 300
    parallel_max_servers 20
    pga_aggregate_target 0
    processes 150
    resumable_timeout 2162688
    sort_area_size 65536
    Sga=632mb
    PGA=368mb
    javapool=16mb
    largepool=8mb
    other=8mb
So I indexed and analyzed the data what did i forget? I can speed it up with soft parsing, but the problem remains . Hopefully this enough information for some analysis, does anyone experienced the same problems ? I tested with SQLdeveloper the speed and is shows the same speed as Benchmark factory. What could be wrong with the parameters?
    Thanks,
    Jan Martijn

The database counted 18,345,075 rows per second without binded variables , which is ten times slower as your result. This can be possible because of hardware but my question is specifically about the number of rows returned thus large amount of results. The idea was not to compare the speed of "+select count(*)+" statements - but to illustrate that even when dealing with a huge number of rows, one can decrease the amount of I/O that needs to be performed to deal with that number of rows.
Select id from map where id <= 1
4000 rows per second are selected, Rows/sec is a meaningless measurement - due to physical I/O (PIO) versus logical I/O (LIO). You can select a 100 rows and these require PIO. Resulting in an elapsed time of 1 sec. You can select a 1000 rows that require only LIO. With an an elapsed time of 0.5 sec.
Is the 2nd method better or faster? No. It simply needed less time to be spend on I/O as the data blocks were in the buffer cache (memory) and did not require very slow and expensive disk access.
Another database i testes returns 6 times 25425 rows back per second for the same query (100 ids). What could be a parameter that limits the output speed of multiple rows in a query?.Every single row that needs to be read/processed by a SQL statement has a cost associated with it. This cost is not consistent! It differs depending on how that row can reached - what I/O paths are available to find that rows? Does the full table need to be scanned? Does an index need to be scanned? Is there a unique index that can be used? Is the table partitioned and can partitioning pruning be applied and local partition indexes used? Are there are user functions that need to be applied to the row's data? Etc. Etc.
All these together determine how fast the client gets a row from the cursor executing that SQL.
The more rows you want to process, the bigger the increase in the cost/expense - specifically more I/O. As I/O is the biggest expense (slowest ito elapsed time).
So you want to do as little I/O as possible and read as little data as possible. For example, instead of a full table scan, a fast full index scan. For example, instead of reading the complete contents of a 10GB table, reading the complete contents of a 12MB index for that table.
I suggest that you read the Oracle Performance Guide to familiarise yourself with basic performance concepts. Use http://tahiti.oracle.com for finding the the guide for your applicable Oracle version.

  • The missing ring between Designer and JDeveloper.

I'm a user of both Designer and JDeveloper and I found a difficulty in making both updated at once.
I would like to have something wich can help to map Designer table definitions to ADF entities but I still don't see anything usefull.
I hoped the integration between Desigern and JDev could help me, but it's based upon Modules and not upot tables and then is useless.
I looked for Jheadstart but it seems to have similar problems.
Is there any plan to fill the gap ?
Is there any viable soluntion already done ?

  • Oracle Coherence Examples with Oracle SOA suite 11.1.1.4.0 and JDeveloper.

    Hi,
I am new to Oracle Coherence. I was looking for examples implementing Oracle Coherence step by step so as to get a basic understanding using JDeveloper but most of the examples available are using Oracle Service Bus and Eclipse.
Could anyone please help me in providing link with examples using Oracle Coherence with Oracle SOA suite 11.1.1.4.0 and JDeveloper.
    Thanks for the needful.
    Cheers,
    Varun

    Hi Varun,
Please find the answers to your questions below:
    1) Could you please let me know how to use this system property -Dtangosol.coherence.override in my application so that I can coordinate between the cluster used by my application and the one started for using Coherence Node.
You need to specify this property in the Java Options of your server or cache node startup script.
    2) I was trying to understand how to use this tangosol-coherence-override.xml but the document is pretty confusing. I am not able to understand that whether I am suppose to use it at server level or at application level.
I would suggest extract the coherence.jar and you it would be important for you to have a look at the tangosol-coherence.xml and tangosol-coherence-override.xml. This file is used to override any of the properties specified in tangosol-coherence.xml for your cluster configuration for example, clustername, multicast ip and port or WKA for unicast, logging and so on.
    3) Another point is how to coordinate among tangosol-coherence-override.xml, coherence-cache-config.xml and -Dtangosol.coherence.override system property from my application
Ideally you should specify in the java options of your application startup but you can also sepcify using System.setProperty("property", "value") in you code for specifying the various properties
    4) How to use the cache updating mechanisms from an application?
I am not clear what do you mean by cache updating mechanisms? If you mean how you can update the cache from application then you can use simple Put, Entry Processor and so on. Refer NamedCache APIs to start with for operations but there many other ways to update the cache from within application or otherwise
    Hope this helps!
    Cheers,
    NJ
