Gestures in Lion

I am currently running 10.5.8 and have a magic mouse. If I go ahead with my upgrades to Lion, will I be able to use gestures with my mouse, or will I need to invest in a new keyboard?

The Magic Mouse will work, though it may not be as effective as with a trackpad.

    Try this page.
It will tell you which gestures are available with Trackpad and Magic Mouse respectively.

  • Magic mouse gestures mountain lion

whats happened to magic mouse gestures on mountain lion...i can't even scroll up or down a web page with my magic mouse now....

OK.  I found the fix for the problem!
You need to reset the PRAM and SMC...  I just did that and it completely fixed the problem.

  • The new gestures in Lion do not seem to be working. Mac OS X 10.7.3) Is there some extra step that is needed

While the rest of the updated Lion has installed flawlessly,  the new gestures just do not seem to work, particularly going from the full screen Safari to the full screeen Mail apps.
    Is some additional step required?

If you're using the Magic Trackpad, all of the gestures should work. Check your System Preferences to verify that they are all turned on.
    They're all working for me.

  • Apple magic mouse gestures on Lion

    Hi all
I just checked in this forum but didn't found a clear answer so I ask this question
Are the Apple magic mouse gestures working on Mac OS Lion ?
I just bought one 2 days ago and even recognized and in Preference panel all necessary check boxes checked no way to have the gestures working.
    Thanks
    Regards

    Sorted !!!!
I go back to the retailer and change the mouse and then once installed the new mouse doh !! still nothing..
After looking around in several forums about Lion issue suddenly I remember of a software I installed some months ago which is taking in charge USB (USB overdrive) and once inside I discovered that the mouse was attached to it...
Then I uninstall this software and restart my MBP and now my mouse works perfectly well all gestures supported, battery level shows and so on .....
What a waste of time but it's my fault just install this software in order to use a game pad which didn't worked and even with this software still continue to not being recognize by my games.... so loss for me to uninstall it anyway..

  • Trackpad gestures mountain lion

    Hi
I've installed Mountain Lion, and am now finding that the trackpad gestures are working in the opposite direction to how they were previously!
Is anyone aware of this issue?
    Any advice much appreciated.
    thanks.

nah not in mountain lion its changed now. To get scrolling to invert untick the check box at the top with the description "When using gestures to scroll or navigate, move content in the direction of finger movement" under the trackpad settings.
They could've just described it simply as "Invert scroll direction" would've been much clearer

  • 2006 MBP gestures? Lion worth it?

I have a late 2006 macbook pro with a 2.16 Ghz core 2 duo processor and 3 gb of ram.  I'm wondering if it would be worth buying lion.
Would my machine run lion fast and efficiently?
Would I be able to navigate to mission control and between fullscreen apps with gestures even though I don't have a multitouch trackpad?  My trackpad can do two finger scroll but I dont think that it can recognize any other gestures. Am I correct about this?
Even if I can't use gestures to navigate, will lion's other features make the purchase worth it?

I have the exact same MBP and I installed Lion. Yes, the machine runs fast and effeciently And although the multitouch features do not work, I have found that HotCorners solve all of those problems for me. And also if you have a mouse with extra buttons (on the side, on the top) you can assign those to things like expose and show desktop. I would definitely sugest getting Lion
    Cheers!

  • No gestures on Lion

Just installed Lion on my mid 2009 MacBook (MacBook5,2). No gestures. No reference to gestures in System Preference Trackpad pane. Is my Macbooks trackpad suitable for Lion gestures?

If you indeed have a 2009 MBP you should have a uniboxy MB style with the single glass button trackpad. Your computer is compatible, you might be facing some sort of bug.
If you have a 2008 (none unibody) I've seen four three and two finger gestures work on it. you just have very minimal room on your trackpad since there is a big button at the bottom of it.
you'll still have these features if you get a magic tackpad and or magic mouse.
try turning everything off, closing system prefs, then back on in System Prefs, trackpad,  to get your gestures to work if they're not working atm. I've read this fixed other people's issues.
on a side note, I have not expereince anything on my magic trackpad but I see what everyone is saying with the one on the MBP. Turning everything off then on worked for me. This might be a sign of a bigger issue though...

  • When will firefox 6.0 support swipe & zoom gestures in Lion?

Updated my Mac to Lion, then updated FF to 6.0
swipe & zoom gestures still do not work, will work in Safari

If identity safe, part of Norton 360, doesn't work with the new version I do not want to waste my time with it.

  • Is there an official list of all multi-touch gestures for Lion?

    from Apple?

    >Open your user guide for the computer
Where is the guide? Stored inside the iMac or do you mean the little booklet that came in the box? Those little booklet don't have much information.
    > or open Trackpad preferences.
Not all gestures are in the Trackpad preference, for example, the 3 finger tab for word definition is not in there. This is the reason I wonder what other gestures might there be that I don't know.

  • Mouse won't point/click do gestures since Lion OSX update!

I bought the new LION X and installed it on my iMac last night and now my WIRELESS MOUSE will not work to it's fullest functions: SCROLLING
left - right up - down. I called the dummies over at support and since all they do is read from a script they typically do not provide the best
information which is appalling. They said I could take it in to Genuis Bar and switch out, but when i got to the Apple store the mouse in question
worked fine w/their devices, it also worked fined when creating a new user and using it through there but it will not work in my main account! ***?!
So I called Support again and they have me on hold but apparently they don't know what they issue it. Come on Apple!

BINGO! I found the issue out ON MY OWN though i seriously wish i had come here sooner to get the information.
I went through 2 different support agents w/the last one sending me over to a SENIOR tech agent (which is english for REAL TECH AGENT) and was on hold for 20 min and found the solution by coming here!
System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > Mouse Options.. button > check scrolling.
talk about paying something for nothing! I made a trip to the store for no reason and spent all day trying to get this to work, why don't they have real support people instead of these people looking for the resolution inside book help, clearly their books don't provide basic information enough to trouble shoot customers issues!

  • Trackpad gestures in Lion

I recently updated to Lion and desperately miss the ability to swipe sideways with 4 fingers on my trackpad to tab through all my open applications.  I know I can do it with command-tab, but it worked much better when I could do it with my right hand.  I know I can swipe upwards with 3 or 4 fingers to get to mission control but I don't really like that either.
I just want my ability to side swipe with 4 fingers to tab through my open apps back.
Can anyone help a poor grad student?

While we all have MacBooks in this forum most of us don’t have Lion. There's a Lion Support Community where everybody has Lion. You should also post this question there.  https://discussions.apple.com/community/mac_os/mac_os_x_v10.7_lion

  • Magic Mouse Multitouch gesture support under Lion

Are all multitouch gestures in Lion supported on the Magic Mouse or just the gestures illustrated on the box?

I'm not sure which gestures are illustrated on the box but here are the gestures it supports.
Not as many as the trackpad but more than previous in SL.

  • Zoom gesture not working??

Hello, the pinch/zoom is not working when using safari? I tried it in iphoto and it worked there. i am using mac os x lion, all other gestures appear to b

Right, if you don't have the buttonless trackpad you can't use all the gestures in Lion. With MacBooks it's only the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody that have the buttonless multi-touch glass trackpad. The Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s had the 2 button trackpads

  • Macbook multi-touch functionality with LION OSX

I know that some of the older MacBooks (2006-07) have multi-touch trackpad. Are some of those models only one or two finger touch? I am wanting to upgrade to Lion OSX and want to make sure the trackpad will support three and four finger gestures. And which is the oldest macbook model that supports multi-touch and will support all the functions on OSX LION?

Ok, I called AppleCare about this earlier too and they told me that as long as the macbook can support Lion, then it can use the muliti-touch functions. The portables listed in that article have multi-touch trackpads and will support those features. I guess my questions is the macbook that support 2 finger swipe or scrolling are not really multi-touch trackpads then, so they will not support those four finger gestures of Lion?
