This is part of my source code that displays one row from getQuest recordset. Always first.

Can i change it so, that on this page it always displayed row with exact position in the table - for example second or 15th - independently of row contents and rows deletition, moving or changing in table?

But if I add 5 rows to table, then delete all of them and add 5 again - auto incremented id will 6 for first in table and 10 for last. If i delete all and add 5 again it will be 11...15 and so on. As I said - I cannot rely on row contens - because I'm planning to delete and add data from that table frequently. Or other solution could be to allways keep id from 1 to [amount of rows]. I do not know how this is done.
Or am I wrong about id?

best practices when deleting multiple rows is to do this on the business service, not the view layer for performance reasons. When you selected the rows to delete and press submit, then in a managed bean you access thetable instance (put a reference to a managed bean from the table "binding" property") and call getSeletedRowKeys. In JDeveloper 11g, ADF Faces returns the RowKeySet as a Set of List, where each list conatins the server side row key (e.g. oracle.jbo.Key) if you use ADF BC. Then you create a List (ArrayList) with this keys in it and call a method exposed on the business service (through a method activity in ADF) and pass the list as an argument. On the server side you then access the View Object that holds the data and find the row to delte by the keys in the list

How to get string value from database table using Visual Studio 2005?

Im developing plugin in illustrator cs3 using visual studio 2005. I need to get the values eneterd in database. Im able to get the integer values. But while getting string values it is returning empty value.

How to delete a row from database table in facade client

Hi all,
I followed the tutorial in creating a persistence entity from database table, then a session facade. Then I followed the tutorial to create a sample client to test the model. In the session facade, I could use persistEntity method to insert a record to the database. I am just thinking of an extension to the tutorial, i.e., being able to delete the record too. So I created a new method removeEntity in the session facade

and called it in the sample client. It was executed without any error, but the record in the table still exists.
I tried to look around for a solution, but I did not find one. Would anybody here please help out? Many thanks in advance!

How to get the rows from a table having some column has any letter

Hi All,
suppose i have a table having columns id(number), code(varchar).
code has alphanumeric characters (ex. ABC123, 67B56 etc).
some codes are only numbers (2344, 7898 etc).
how can i get the rows which have alphabets in the code.
ex:
id code
1 AB45
2 456
3 890
4 67B7
how can i write a query such that it should give me the ids 1 and 4 (as they have alphabets in code)

But i have a doubt in the operator.
If i add or remove '[]' in the operator, i am getting different ouputs.
There is a count difference in the result of the operators used.
REGEXP_LIKE(<column>,'[[:lower:]]')
REGEXP_LIKE(<column>,'[[[:lower:]]]')
REGEXP_LIKE(<column>,'[:lower:]')
Can anybody please explain what is the difference in using '[]', in the operator?
What is the correct syntax, whether i have to use two '[]'s or one '[]'.
Also, can i use REGEXP_LIKE() in oracle 8i version.( I am unable to use the operator in 8i)?
Any query to get the required output in 8i version?

How to read block of rows from database tables

I have created a Database Application in Java and display all the records in tabular format of one Table. This table have Millions of Rows, If I run Select * from Table, then my Machine not responding, so Now I wants to add paging of 1000 rows at one time.
Is there are any option to read block of rows at one time and then query again for next page ?
Please let me know..

Get all rows from a table control

Hi All,
I have a table control with one column. What function should I use to retrieve all the rows ? Do I need to iterate row by row and read each row or is it possible to do it in one function ?

Supposing vells in the column have all the same data type, you can retrieve the whole column with a single instruction:
GetTableCellRangeVals (panel, control, VAL_TABLE_COLUMN_RANGE (1), array, VAL_COLUMN_MAJOR);
The array passed must be large enough to retrieve all data. Alternatively, you may substitute the macro VAL_TABLE_COLUMN_RANGE with the appropriate MakeRect instruction.In case your table was dinamically built, you can obtain the nu,ìmber of rows using GetNumTableRows and dimension your array accordingly.
The above macro is defined in userint.h together with some other useful macros that can be used to access data in a table.
There are some precautions to take in case of string values or some cell type (ring, combo box, button...) that are described in the hell for the function.

How to get current row from advanced table

Hi,
I have the following code to pick the value of columnA from one of the columns of an advanced table:
OAViewObject vo = (OAViewObject)am.findViewObject("AAALineVO2");

}It's picking up the first value of ColumnA of the first record correctly, however when I add a new row, it's not picking up the value of columnA anymore.
What am I doing wrong?

Problem in deleting row from database in table component

I have a table component that its content change by diffrent links.
in this table i have a hyperlink in each row to deleting that row from dataBase.
so i must get the current row .
i do it like this:
define a rowset in the page that have a delete query :
delete from response where responseID=?
in action of delete hyperlink ,i have:

but in first line occure a exception:

by using data table
first you should get current record (row that recived action)
then delete it by using data provider.
I do not think that you could execute delete statement using rowSets because they just can provide Select statements.

Iam pasting my code below.My problem isi retrieve rows from database and display them in jsp page in rows.For each row there is delete hyperlink.Now when i click that link i should only delete the row corresponding to that delete link temporarily but it should not delete the row from database now.It should only delete the row from database when i click the save button.How can i do this can any one give some code.

You mean when you click on the hyperlink you want that row to disappear from the page, but not delete the row from the database until a commit/submit button is pressed?
Personally, I think I'd prefer that you have a delete checkbox next to every row and NOT remove them from the display if I was a user. You give your users a chance to change their mind about their choice, and when they're done they can see exactly which rows will be deleted before they commit.
You know your problem, of course, so you might have a good reason for designing it this way. But I'd prefer not removing them from the display. JMO - MOD

I have a problem about Copying table rows from one table to another table form.On jsf pages if you enter command button go anather jsf page and it copy one row to another table row. But when i execute this process for table FORM it doesn't copy I wrote a code under "createRowFromResultSet - overridden for custom java data source support." Code block is:

Deleting a row from a table containing CLOB as one of the columns

When i delete a row from a table which contains a CLOB (internal clob) i.e. CLOB or BLOB column, Will the CLOB data will also be deleted ? I understand that what exactly stored in the CLOB column is the clob locator which points to the actual data.
So, when I delete this row, the clob locator will be deleted, but will the actual data what this locator is pointing to is also deleted ??? if not what is the process to delete the data the locator is pointing to when the row containing the locator is deleted ? If this is not happening then the actual data might become an orphan data which nobody has access to, will automatic garbage cleaning occurs on a frequent intravels to delete unaddressed data residing on the database server ?

Thanks very much for your inputs, here are the results i got when i tried the way you explained in your answer, the TRUNCATE command made the actual size back to normal, but the delete is not the same, so, how can i delete the data that a particular clob locator may point to ?
truncate would delete all the rows of the table, which might not serve my purpose, i would like to delete a row and also it's associated clob data from the database! is there anyway to do this ?
is there any limitation on the ool_sample size? i am basically a c++ programmer, i am looking for some function like FREE which would free the allocated memory to the clob once the locator is deleted.
