Get files on demand from XI to R/3

We want to program a button in R/3(ABAP) which will call XI and XI picks a predetermined file and sends into to R/3. in one call.
and the program in the ABAP can continue its processing with the file that it received from XI?
What we want to achieve is, get the a file from XI on demand from an ABAP Program.
No sure if this can be done. If so how can we do this?
Thanks,
Gopi.

>>So if we use that link to trigger the communication channel. XI will get the file and calls a service.
Lets say you have a File to R/3 scenario but you want this file to be delivered only when R/3 requests it.
So you will design the whole scenario for File to R/3 and then do the configuration as specified in blog(setting external control On etc).after that you create a report in ABAP which will have a button,when u press this button,R/3 will send a HTTP request to adapter engine of XI system,this request will activate the sender file adapter which will pick up the file and deliver to XI system which will in turn deliver to R/3.You can have one more button which will send another HTTP request to adapter engine to de-activate the adapter once the messages have reached R/3 successfully.
Thanx

  • Sender File Adapter  not able to get file via FTP from an external system

    Hi,
    I have a Sender File Adapter using FTP which polls a server every 10 seconds looking for a file ".xml".  The adapter will connect and pick up the waiting file, but sometimes the adapter not able to get file via FTP from an external system. The file is on the server, but despite the polling, the adapter does not pick up it. There is no return error.
    The connect mode is Permanently and the transfer mode is Binary.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks.
    T.

    Hi Teresa,
    does this case appears with a file size higher the others?
    Personally, I do not recommend to have a polling under 1min.
    10s could be too just, if the file is not small and/or if the file server is far (several kilometers) to where the Adapter Engine is, and/or this file server is beside a firewall. Do not forget also that, with previous points, you could have like a conflict, betwen the 1st polling and the 2nd polling, if in less 10s PI adapter has not enough time: to connect to the FTP server (several Km), find the file (perhaps among 100 other files in the directory), go back to the file to Adapter Engine server (several Km again), convert your file to XML message (with a complex Content Conversion), then check the XML structure, and when all that is done, return back to FTP server (several Km), to archive the source file... Well It's my understanding of a FTP exchange with FILE adapter...
    If you really need a 10s polling, that's mean your have a pseudo real time interface. In that case, in my mind file should not be used! but we should use a Web service, JDBC JMS (any exchange without a physical object like a file). For me, it's a non-sens to have a file in that case.

  • Get file on demand with file adapter?

    Hi all.
    I need to get a file on demand (System A ask for a file to FTP server system) with FTP adapter. My problem is that FTP receiver adapter allows just uploading but not getting files. And sender file adapter is not valid for "on demand" scenario.
    Thanks,
    Gari.

    Hey
    as even u said ,on demand is not available for File,i guess starting from PI 7.1 they are gonna add some enhancements to File adapter to support this,but till then i dont think there is a direct way.
    one way around which i think of is u might wanna write a Unix shell script,which will catch this demand and trigger the file to be placed in the specific directory.
    u can have two scenario,the first scenario simply sends the demnad for file which will trigger the unix script(use the OS commands option in file adapter for this) and the second scenario will pick this file and send it
    thanx

  • How to get file input stream from the client machine by JSF Fileupload API?

    Dear Friends,
    How to get the file input stream from the client machine by JSF HtmlFileupload or fileupload API. At present, if i execute the file upload code in the client machine, it is able to get the local path of the file and looking for the file in server machine. So i am getting FileNotFoundException.
    E.g., If a file is located at client machine at following location means "C:\Test\Test.txt",
    uploadClass.getFileuploadComponent().getFilename().toString() returns "C:\Test\Test.txt". But it is looking for that file in server and throwing FileNotFoundException.
    Please post your replies soon.
    Thanks,
    JP

    Depends on which version of JSF you're using. If JSF 1.2, I wouldn't even bother trying to hack this into JSF itself unless you can use something like Seam 2 or richfaces.
    http://docs.jboss.org/richfaces/latest_3_3_X/en/devguide/html/rich_fileUpload.html
    http://docs.jboss.org/seam/2.2.1.CR3/reference/en-US/html/controls.html#d0e29259 (look for s:fileUpload)
    But if I were you, a simple non-jsf form with a servlet works best for taking file uploads.
    As for JSF 2.0, there are other ways of getting it done.

  • Getting file node name from SQL query

    Hello everyone,
    I have a concurrent request that requires the file node name as input. For example, when I login to oracle on our test instance , I use http://moon1.oando-plc.com:8000. For this concurrent program, the file node name is shown as moon1.oando-plc.com.
    I need to use this argument in a PL/SQL procedure I am writing and I don't want to use any hardcoding.
    Is there any way to get this data from an SQL statement.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    You can get it from ICX_PARAMETERS table (HOME_URL column). Orsearch the profile options values for "http" to get the login page URL (and/or server name) -- See (Note: 201945.1 - How to list E-Business Suite Profile Option values for all levels using SQLPlus).

  • Getting files off 'pages' from backup.

    So, i wrote a document on my ipad, on pages, and then i sold my ipad. I forgot to get the document off of it first. However, my whole ipad is backed up on my computer. Is there anyway to get the document back?

    Read all instructions and support articles that I am referencing in this post.
    The instructions are in this article
    iOS: How to backup
    But - before you even attempt to do this - make sure that you have a current backup of the iPad in iTunes on your computer and back up the phone as well.
    Without connecting the phone to your PC - Launch iTunes, and the go to Edit>Preferences>Devices. See if there is a backup listed in there for your iPad. If there is a backup - and you are certain that the document would be in that backup - then do this - click on the box that says - Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing. Click OK to close that window. iTunes will not sync the phone automatically when you connect it to the computer and launch iTunes.
    Now backup the iPhone - just in case. Connect the iPhone to your computer, launch iTunes. Right click on the iPhone name on the left side - under devices - and select backup. This will backup all of the settings and data on the phone - just in case.
    Now follow the instructions from the article above. Actually - all you have to do after you backup the phone is right click on the phone name again and select - Restore from Backup. When you select - Restore from Backup - a window will pop up from which you can choose any of the backups that you have in iTunes. Select the iPad backup and then click on restore.
    Again - bear in mind that this will restore all of the data that was on the iPad to the iPhone and it will overwrite any other app data, app settings, the camera roll, etc on the phone.
    If for some reason, this does not end up the way that you were hoping that it would - restore the phone from the backup that you created earlier to return the phone to the state that it was in before you restored from the iPad backup.
    You may end up with apps that you don't want on the phone - or they may not have all synced when you restore. Just go back into all of the tabs in iTunes and select - or deselect the content as needed - and sync again - you will need to click on Apply - in the lower right corner.
    Remember to turn auto syncing on again when you are done restoring the device - if you want to use auto sync.

    I want path of file IExplore.exe on file system...
    Thanks

    Hi!
    U can search for the path of the IExplore.exe and use it as
    Declare
         AppID          PLS_INTEGER;
         v_application VARCHAR2(300);
    Begin
         v_application:='I:\Appli\Gbps\Help\iexplore.exe D:\XYZ\Help.htm';
         AppID := DDE.App_Begin(v_application, DDE.APP_MODE_MAXIMIZED);
         DDE.APP_END(AppID);
    End;
    D:\XYZ\Help.htm specifies the default file to be opened.
    If u don't give the html file name, it will just open Internet Explorer.
    Or else u can also use the Host command.

    Hello Guys any views on this topic

  • When i try to run my jsp i get "File Download Security Warning"

    Hi,
    I have created a jsp file which is called UpdateEmpDetails1.jsp
    This jsp file picks up the employee id of the employee and transfers it to the backend servlet called UpdateEmpDetails1.java. The backend servlet looks up the table stored in the database and pulls up all the information stored corresponding to the employee id.Then the servlet stores the information in a session object and forwards it to the UpdateEmpDetails2.jsp
    I display the information which has been forwarded by the servlet in the HTML fields of UpdateEmpDetails2.jsp.
    Here the manager can also update the information. When he clicks on submit, the second serlvet UpdateEmpDetails2.java which is linked to UpdateEmpDetails2.jsp picks up the updated information and updates the database. The servlet also displays the message "Your information has been updated". But here is the real problem
    The session variables are being transferred perfectly to the jsp file UpdateEmpDetails2.jsp.
    But when i make any changes to this file and click on submit I get File Download Security Warning. It Says:
    File Download Security Warning
    Do you want to save this file
    Name UpdateEmpDetails2
    Type UnknownFileType
    From LocalHost
    Then I get another file which says
    FileDownload
    Getting FIle Information
    UpdateEmpDetails2 from localhost
    Estimated time left
    Download to:
    Transfer rate:
    Close this dialog box when download is complete
    I am just simply not able to update the employee information in the database due to this message.

    The Properties class is already a subclass of Hashtable. So if you have a Properties object, you already have a Hashtable. So all you need to do is the first part of that:Properties props = new Properties();
    InputStream is = new FileInputStream("tivoli.properties");
    props.load(is);

    When I attempt to open a PDF file I saved from a website using Safari, I get the message "There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired." When I save the same PDF file using FireFox it opens up immediately. Is there any way to correct this problem with Safari?

    Back up all data.
    Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
    from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
    From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
    The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
    If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
    If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • How can I get the context-parm from a web.xml file using struts?

    Hello:
    I need get the context-param from the web.xml file of my web project using struts. I want configurate the jdbc datasource connection pooling here. For example:
    <context-param>
    <param-name>datasource</param-name>
    <param-value>jdbc/formacion</param-value>
    <description>Jdbc datasource</description>
    </context-param>
    and then from any Action class get this parameter.
    Similar using a simple server can be:
    /** Initiates new XServlet */
    public void init(ServletConfig config) throws ServletException {
              for (Enumeration e = config.getInitParameterNames(); e.hasMoreElements();) {
                   System.out.println(e.nextElement());
              super.init(config);
              String str = config.getInitParameter("datasource");
              System.out.println(str);
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest req, HttpServletResponse res)
              throws ServletException, IOException {
              // res.setContentType( );
              System.out.println("Got post request in XServlet");
              PrintWriter out = res.getWriter();
              out.println("nada");
              out.flush();
              out.close();
    but only this works for init-params, if I use
    <servlet>
         <servlet-name>MyServlet</servlet-name>
         <display-name>MyServlet</display-name>
         <servlet-class>myExamples.servlet.MyServlet</servlet-class>
         <init-param>
         <param-name>datasource</param-name>
         <param-value>jdbc/formacion</param-value>
    </init-param>
    </servlet>
    inside my web.xml. I need something similar, but using struts inside the action class for that I can get the context-params and call my database.
    Thank you

    To get context parameters from your web.xml file you can simply get the ActionServlet object from an implementing action object class. In the perform (or execute) method make the following call.
    ServletContext context = getServlet().getServletContext();
    String tempContextVar =
    context.getInitParameter("<your context param >");

  • How can I get the example fonts from the font file Programmatically?

    Hi Friends,
             I am doing one mac application for the fonts management. Now I would like to Preview the Font in the NSTextView.  This is my coding for the textView.
        NSTextView *text3=[[NSTextView alloc]initWithFrame:NSMakeRect(250,500,450,30)];
        [text3 setString:@"ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ"];
        [text3 setFont:[NSFont fontWithName:@"GangofThree" size:40]];
        [[[self window] contentView] addSubview:text3];
    Because I have set the string in English for the NSTextView I can't able to view the other languages characters.I got the character set of the font file by using this code.
       NSCharacterSet *characterset = (NSCharacterSet *) CTFontCopyCharacterSet (fontRef);
    This Font is greek font.Now My question is how can I able to get the greek characters from this characterset.

    Your text string would certainly have to be in Greek itself, not Latin.  No normal font just translates Latin letters to Greek, they use other codepoints reserved for Greek letters.

  • How to get file from FTP Server using File Control

    Hi,
    Any one did getting file from FTP Server?
    Please let me know any one help me.
    I would need to get file from FTP Server.
    Thanks,
    Madhu

    Yes I have done that. But In FTP Server I cannt read file, because no previliges. Only I need to copy file from FTP Server to local server then only I can read that file.
    I tried all options using FileConrol(getFiles(),read()).
    getFiles() - It wont copy the file, it give information about file.
    read() - I dont have previliges to read the file.
    Please tell me any other procedure would be there for getting file from FTPServer.
    Thanks,
