Get Globals ref in runtime

Hi, I have the need of changing stattionGlobals variables value in runtime from LabView. This could not be a problem if I can pass the a reference object to the VI.
The problem is that I have a Labview library and I can not change the connector panel of the VIs. Inside of severals VIs I should have the chance of changing some stationglobals variable value but without changing their connector panel. I guessed I could have store the Globals reference ( from engine-->globals) into a labview functional globals at the beginning of the sequence and then use it. But this reference change continually. And the Engine reference change continually too.
Does anyone have some ideas?
Thanks a lot.

Hi,
If you are passing the Engine reference to your VI's, then you can use Engine.Globals to get a reference to the StationGlobals then use the PropertyObject to Get or Set the value to your StationGlobals variable.
If you are passing the SequenceContext to your VI's, then you can use SequenceContext.StationGlobals to get a reference to the StationGlobals then you can use the PropertyObject to Get or Set the value to your StationGlobals variable.
In both cases the Lookup String would be just the name of the variable
eg StationGlobals.MyString the lookup string would be "MyString"

  • Getting value type at runtime

    Hello everyone,
I am using Scanner to get tokens from a buffer. I need to know the type (class) of the value returned. Instead of using "if" statement and hasNext?() for each possible type, is there a method that just return the type. Something like:
Class c = get(String s);So, if s is "Address", c would be set to String.class. If s is "true", c would be set to Boolean.class... etc
    Thank you

Yeh, I just saw your other post:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=783200
The two topics are different but related. The topic, you refer to, are taking about getting a value. In that topic I need a method like:
Object o = String.toObject (String s, Class c);However, the topic "Getting value type at runtime" are taking about getting a type. In this topic I need a method like:
Class c = string.getClass();to return the type this string represents.

  • Getting a ref cursor out of a procedure

    Hello,
I am having some issues getting the ref cursor out of this procedure that returns a ref cursor when given inputs.
I have included the code below and made bold the call to the package and procedure where the requested function lies. I put c2 in the first parameter because that is the out and is defined first in the procedure. Am I going about this the wrong way? I am mainly a .NET developer and am still learning the syntax of PL/SQL.

You should probably post the code of PKG_DTEST.GET_CHILDREN as well as the error you are getting. It's hard to troubleshoot without knowing all the parts and pieces.
Additionally, I see that you are using a nested FOR loop to process your data. You should rethink this. The best way to process data in Oracle is to compact it all into a single SQL statement if possible. If you are having trouble doing this please post the following and we can help.
    1. Oracle version (SELECT * FROM V$VERSION)
    2. Sample data in the form of CREATE / INSERT statements.
    3. Expected output
    4. Explanation of expected output (A.K.A. "business logic")
    5. Use \ tags for #2 and #3. See FAQ (Link on top right side) for details.

It is very difficult to find the root cause...please help

    Hi Christian,
May be it is a cluster problem...actual URL must be the URL of the cluster not any specific SAP server box....but in our case sometimes URL points to any SAP server  that may or may not be within that cluster.
Please give some solution to rectify it.

Exactly the same problem.  But it gets worse.  iTunes has now disappeared from my list of installed programs so I can't uninstall anyway.  Appalling problem.  This update clearly didn't get proper testing before release.
In answer to your question about your song library, I seem to remember uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes a few years ago and the uninstall didn't remove the library then - I can't see why it would.  Of course there have been a lot of updates since then, so it is definitely worth asking the question.  Personally, I would be inclined to make a copy (if you have the space) of the iTunes folder just to be sure.
I certainly hope they get this fixed soon.  I use iTunes mainly for podcasts on my iPod and I can't download anything right now.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Me21n user exit.......How to get PO number at runtime while saving PO.

    HI All,
I am wiring the user exit for ME21N .
The requirement is need to save item text data along with PO.
For this i am using SAVE_TEXT Fm for this. the input for this FM contains PO number.
How can i get the PO number at runtime. Is there any exit for this?
Can any one suggest me the way to get PO number at runtime.
    Thanks,
    Khasimsa.

    Hi,
In Function Exit "EXIT_SAPMM06E_013" of "MM06E005",there is an Import Parameter I_EKKO-EBELN which will contain the PO number and this exit will get triggered just before saving the PO.
    Hope this will help.

  • Get VI ref for LV executable set to allow multiple instances

I have inherited some LabVIEW code, which I'm not inclined to change, that will run as an executable with multiple instances set to true on a standard Windows PC. There could be up to four of these executables running in parallel on one machine. I need to interact with these four executables programmatically, and I was hoping to use VI Server to get and put values into the FP controls. However, the visible title of these instances is not necessarily known as they change their names depending on their state, which includes a floating point numeric (for example "My Software n=1.234")
Question: From within LabVIEW (my own executable), how do you get a reference to another LabVIEW executable on the same target when there could be n instances of that executable?
Is it possible to get a list of those VIs that are running as an executable? I tried "Application:All VIs In Memory" property but it returns only the VI that the call is inside, and doesn't see the running executable (I'm not surprised).
I thought about using Windows calls to retrieve all window titles and parse them for this executable, but that might not work as the numeric in the title changes rapidly, so no sooner than I've worked out the title it'll already have changed and will no longer be valid for Open VI Reference.
I'll continue to try a few other ideas, but would appreciate any input from you smart folk out there
Thoric (CLA, CLED, CTD and LabVIEW Champion)

Question: From within LabVIEW (my own executable), how do you get a reference to another LabVIEW executable on the same target when there could be n instances of that executable?
I need to interact with these four executables programmatically.
I'm digging deep here.....  Lets toss out any VI ref or method off the top.  You need to interact with running applications.  To make things just a bit more strange you need to interact with specific instances of the same application while those instances are <poofing> in and out of existance beyond the knowledge of "YourApp.exe"
At least they are on the same target
I cannot think of a elegant way to identify a specific app instance of an exe without the app instance itself supplying some of that info upon launch.  The OS is doing the launching and interaction with the app instances and the LVRTE is merely helping interperate the instructions contained in the executable.
Publishing the RunTime read only property App:Active:App to an element of  a single process shared variable array of "apps.active"  might help.    YourApp can read the array and learn what app instances are active.  But I may be going down a rabbit hole here since that merely filters the problem down to "Finding one of a few instances of a particular app that is currently running"  And it involves modifying the application you inherited.  You said you did not want to modify InheritedApp but, IF you chose to, or it becomes necessary anyway, pass App:Active:App + whatever you need to specify instance out of the app when it is called- ( even if its just a filename YourApp and the InheritedAppInstance can use as a data transfer point)
Time for me to sit back and learn something new today.
EDIT: Just did "What you will want to do is configure each instance of the EXE to have different VI server settings (specifically, the port number or service name) "
