Get image from local file system for printing

If a user clicks Print, I would like to be able to print the
stationery header if the user wants to print on plain paper. Can I
pick up the image from the users local file system and add it
directly to the print send object? Prior to this the user would
simply upload the location of the image to the remote server where
the swf resides, or do I have to ask him to upload the image itself
and then download it again every time he uses the program?
Doug

Here is a snippet from the Flex 2 user guide about urlloader:
When using this method, consider the Adobe® Flash®
Player security model:
For Flash Player 8 and later:
Data loading is not allowed if the calling SWF file is in the
local-with-file-system sandbox and the target resource is from a
network sandbox.
Data loading is also not allowed if the calling SWF file is
from a network sandbox and the target resource is local.
As far as I know there is no way for a user to "trust" an swf
file. This is not like an activeX control.

  • How to get folder(directory path only not file path) from local file system

    Hi Firends,
    How to get folder(directory path only not file path) from local file system , whenevr i will click on browse button.
    Please give reply for this one , if anybody knows.
    Thanks,
    Anderson.

    Hi Anderson,
    if you're using flash.filesystem.FileReference - then it is run in black box - except of filename, size and creation data (and few other properties available after some operation succeeded). This is part of security features in Flash runtime (described in header section):
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/net/FileReference .html
    This for example implies that user can download a content to local machine - but that content cannot be loaded back into Flash runtime. For this you would need either Air runtime flash.filesystem.File:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/filesystem/File.h tml
    (so you would created Air runtime based application: desktop or mobile but not web, even as standalone project) or you would need one of 3rd party tools that add file access/file information features to standard Flash runtime applications converted to standalone native applications.

    kind regards,

  • IOS: (not) playing sound from local file system - Error #2032

    Dear all,
    I am working on an app where I want to (among others) play sound files from the local file system.
    I have added a few mp3 files into my .ipa file.
    With a small file browser in my app I can select any one of them which returns me a File object.
    I then use this File object to do a URLRequest to load the sound:
    var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest(file.nativePath);
    sound = new Sound();
    sound.addEventListener(IOErrorEvent.IO_ERROR, soundLoadError);
    sound.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, soundLoaded);
    sound.load(req);
    It works in flash, but fails on the iPAD. Everytime I try to load, I get a IOErrorEvent with error code Error #2032
    When I replace new URLRequest(file.nativePath) with URLRequest("http://.../testfile.mp3"), everything works fine!
    Any help appreciated.
    Is this a matter of Security settings? Can I change those?
    Something to do with Sandboxing (whatever that is)?
    or something to do with cross-domain access?
    I have been looking around for days now and any help would be appreciated!
    I am using Flash CS5.5 & AIR 2.7
    Thanks, Marcus.

    Hi Sanika,
    this was something closer to that paragraph for "nativePath":
    Some Flex APIs, such as the source property of the SWFLoader class, use a URL (the url property of a File object), not a native path (the nativePath property).
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashPlatform/reference/actionscript/3/flash/filesystem/File.h tml#nativePath
    but that is not exactly what I've read (maybe that was A-blog or post on someone from A-team on his personal blog or post on stackoverflow).
    (myself I'm using and providing solutions for paths using FILE protocol - file URI schemes - mostly whenever I can and where it is supported)

  • Access to local file system for desktop application

    As a .NET and VBA developer/user, I have found Flash to be a
    great RAD development solution for certain desktop app. projects...
    if only actionscript could access the local file system and talk to
    local (preferably non-XML) data-sources!
    I'm not familiar with the latest version of Flash CS3 &
    Actionscript 3.0
    Is there any reliable way Flash CS3 can be programmed to access
    the user's local file system - that is, as a stand-alone desktop
    application????

    Thanks for the response.
    I hope Adobe catches a clue ... with Microsoft's Windows
    Presentation Framework and the new ability of easily implementing
    Flash-like animation on .NET apps, Adobe is going to have to get
    busy. Stand-alone desktop apps still rule (as opposed to web-based)
    in the business world, and they are driven by data. If Flash was
    capable of easily talking to local data-sources (Access, Excel,
    Text etc.), it could significantly increase its adoption as a
    widely used business RAD tool. The Flash IDE is great and rivals
    any Microsoft RAD IDE + users love the slick Flash GUIs.

  • Local file system for archive destination in RAC with ASM

    hi Gurus .
    I need an info.
    I have ASM file system in 2 node RAC.
    The client does not want to use flash recovery area.
    Can we use the archive destination as local file system rather than ASM.
    like /xyzlog1 for archvies coming from node 1 and /xyzlog2 for archive logs coming from node 2.
    Imortant thing is these two destinations are anot shared with each nodes.
    OS is solaris sparc 10.
    version is 10.2.0.2

    There is huge space in the storage.
    Pls tell me in general ho wdo you do this.
    Do we take and one disk from the storage and format it with local file system and share it among the 2 nodes?
    If so then that mount point will have same mount point name if we see it from other node... ..ryt
    In this scenario if one instance is down then from the same shared mount point which is on the same node(down) can apply archves?Here, Earlier you are using any ASM shared location for ARCHIVES ?
    if so you can add a CANDIDATE disk to your existing ARHCIVE disk group(shared).
    if not from LUN's after format, I.e. candidates based on that you can create a new DISK group(shared) according to your space requirements. THen you can assign to log_archive_dest_1 for both the nodes to single shared location(disk group)

    You'll need to have a signed applet.

  • How to retrieve images from the file system in Portal Forms?

    Portal 3.0.9.8.0
    In a Portal form , there is a field named ID wherein a value is entered. Say the value entered is 5 , how can we get the image named 5.jpg
    from C:/images/ folder and get it displayed in the form ? The images are not stored in the database . Depending on the ID field value , we
    have to retrieve the image.
    Thanks .
    Neeti.

    Hi Neeti,
    This is what I did :-
    Steps:-
    1> I created a procedure named get_image in the application schema as :-
    create or replace procedure get_image
    p_id in integer default 1
    is
    begin
    htp.p('Image Id='||nvl(to_char(p_id),'No Image Id'));
    htp.br;
    if p_id is not null then
    htp.p('<img src="C:\images\'||p_id||'.jpg">');
    end if;
    end get_image;
    2> Created a form on the procedure get_image.
    3> Run the form and for p_id field, enter the image id, and click on Submit - the image will be displayed.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I get images from Aperture into print shop for mac?

    Friends,
    I have Print Shop for Mac and Aperture. How do I get images from Aperture into Print Shop? I'musing managed images with previews. Is there any option besides exporting to the desktop and importing?
    Thanks!
    Steve

    if you have previews turned on in Aperture and they're all genereated, you can simply drag-n-drop them into any application (just about). drag-n-drop is essentially the same as copy/paste as long as the application is setup to accept "drops" onto its windows.
    otherwise, if you're running Leopard (10.5) as your version of Mac OS X, when you import (or whatever it is in PrintShop), you should get a file selection dialog. from here, scroll down the left-hand side bar set of icons. near the bottom is a group called "Media". click on the triangle to open the group, choose Photos, and from here you should see an Aperture icon. click this and you'll see your whole library (or at least the portion of it that you have previews generated for. select the photo you want and viola!

  • How to get access to the local file system when running with Web Start

    I'm trying to create a JavaFX app that reads and writes image files to the local file system. Unfortunately, when I run it using the JNLP file that NetBeans generates, I get access permission errors when I try to create an Image object from a .png file.
    Is there any way to make this work in Netbeans? I assume I need to sign the jar or something? I tried turning "Enable Web Start" on in the application settings, and "self-sign by generated key", but that made it so the app wouldn't launch at all using the JNLP file.

    Same as usual as with any other web start app : sign the app or modify the policies of the local JRE. Better sign the app with a temp certificate.
    As for the 2nd error (signed app does not launch), I have no idea as I haven't tried using JWS with FX 2.0 yet. Try to activate console and loggin in Java's control panel options (in W7, JWS logs are in c:\users\<userid>\appdata\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\log) and see if anything appear here.
    Anyway JWS errors are notoriously not easy to figure out and the whole technology in itself is temperamental. Find the tool named JaNeLA on the web it will help you analyze syntax error in your JNLP (though it is not aware of the new syntax introduced for FX 2.0 and may produce lots of errors on those) and head to the JWS forum (Java Web Start & JNLP Andrew Thompson who dwells over there is the author of JaNeLA).

  • Choosing a highly-available, networked file system for VM images

    What's the consensus here on highly-available, networked file systems for VM disk images?
    HA-NFS seems difficult and overly-complicated.
    GlusterFS doesn't seem to be well-suited for this task.
    Ceph/RADOS seems popular but there isn't much information available.
    OCFS2 seem to be suitable but there also isn't much information available.
    Eric P.
    Truckee, CA

    Actually, I still would suggest taking a closer look at what I had mentioned in your other thread:
    [Use OCFS2 to Share Local Storage (DAS) Across OVM Compute Nodes|https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2438632&tstart=0]
    I still think that this would also solve thus thread. In the end, there is no how-to on how to build that up and you probably will need some help from some experts. I for myself, also didnÄt configure all of that on my own - i left ASM/Cluster part for some contractor to setup and focused on the iscsi-target/initiator setup along with the multipath setup on m VM servers.
    Maybe I will do a little write-up, once we get it all sorted out, since we do experience some strage behaviour of our storages boxes, while ASM hammers ob them quite hardly, but I suspect the raid controllers to blame and not the concept… ;)

  • Cant get data from text file to print into Jtable

    Instead of doing JDBC i am using text file as database. I cant get data from text file to print into JTable when i click find button. Goal is to find a record and print that record only, but for now i am trying to print all the records. Once i get that i will change my code to search desired record and print it. when i click the find button nothing happens. Can you please take a look at my code, dbTest() method. thanks.
    void dbTest() {
    DataInputStream dis = null;
    String dbRecord = null;
    String hold;
    try {
    File f = new File("customer.txt");
    FileInputStream fis = new FileInputStream(f);
    BufferedInputStream bis = new BufferedInputStream(fis);
    dis = new DataInputStream(bis);
    Vector dataVector = new Vector();
    Vector headVector = new Vector(2);
    Vector row = new Vector();
    // read the record of the text database
    while ( (dbRecord = dis.readLine()) != null) {
    StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(dbRecord, ",");
    while (st.hasMoreTokens()) {
    row.addElement(st.nextToken());
    System.out.println("Inside nested loop: " + row);
    System.out.println("inside loop: " + row);
    dataVector.addElement(row);
    System.out.println("outside loop: " + row);
    headVector.addElement("Title");
    headVector.addElement("Type");
    dataTable = new JTable(dataVector, headVector);
    dataTableScrollPane.setViewportView(dataTable);
    } catch (IOException e) {
    // catch io errors from FileInputStream or readLine()
    System.out.println("Uh oh, got an IOException error!" + e.getMessage());
    } finally {
    // if the file opened okay, make sure we close it
    if (dis != null) {
    try {
    dis.close();
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    } // end if
    } // end finally
    } // end dbTest

    Here's a thread that loads a text file into a JTable:
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=57&thread=315172
    And my reply in this thread shows how you can use a text file as a simple database:
