Get the topmost canvas

Hi, can every body tell me how in form 6i can i get the name or the ID of the topmost canvas visible in my application ?
I tried with get_view_property('canvas_name',visible)
but I have some canvas under the topmost canvas that are visibled too.

When clips won't play without rendering in the Timeline, it usually means that the clip's specs don't match the Sequence settings.
A .mov file could be made from any number of codecs; the QuickTime Movie designation is merely a container for video files of all kinds. Since FCE only works with the QuickTime DV codec and the Apple Intermediate Codec (AIC) natively, if your mov files aren't one of those two, you need to convert them PRIOR to importing into your FCE project.

My Canvas went black. Can't get the video back.

I did something and my canvas went black and now I can't figure out how to get the video back. Can someone help?
I took some time off and now forgot a lot but working on remembering as I got work now. ;-)

Actually I had to call my friend in San Francisco for the answer and stupid me! I should have known what I did ut I was away from FCP most of last year.
I hit CMD-W and lost 2 windows. I got them back but then the canvas was black.
Answer was hit the W key again and it cycles through 3 windows.
I tried what you recommended to no avail.

In the topmost Firefox menu with File,Edit,View,History,Bookmarks, I can not get the list of bookmarks to display as they did before. The Bookmarks menu does not open up into the list of bookmarks.

I am running Mac os 10.6.8 and Firefox 6.0.1 on a MacBook Pro and on a desktop Macintosh.
The large computer displays a list of bookmarks when you click on the uppermost Bookmarks menu.
The MacBook Pro displays the following when you click on the Bookmarks word in the top menu:
"Show all Bookmarks, Bookmark this Page, Bookmark all Tabs and an icon with a blue dot next to Bookmarks Toolbar with an arrow to the right and below that it says Unsorted Bookmarks.
There is no display of the list of bookmarks from which I can chose as I do on the larger desktop macintosh computer.
How can I get the list of bookmarks to show as a list when I click the Bookmarks menu?

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

You can also try to move (delete) the Firefox plist file.

Go to "Library > Preferences" and remove the plist file for Firefox (org.mozilla.firefox.plist).

Which Mac Pro? More cores=slower speeds? And most of us know the speed matters or FPU for music and I don't understand the faster is for the least amount of procs. And while I get the whole rendering thing and why it makes sense.

The above is what the bar says. It's been a while and wondered, maybe Apple changed the format for forums. Then got this nice big blank canvas to air my concerns. Went to school for Computer Science, BSEE, even worked at Analog Devices in Newton Massachusetts, where they make something for apple.
The bottom line is fast CPU = more FPU = more headroom and still can't figure out why the more cores= the slower it gets unless it's to get us in to a 6 core then come out with faster cores down the road or a newer Mac that uses the GPU. Also. Few. I'm the guy who said a few years ago Mac has an FCP that looks like iMovie on Steroids. Having said that I called the campus one day to ask them something and while I used to work for Apple, I think she thought I still did as she asked me, "HOW ARE THE 32 CORES/1DYE COMING ALONG? Not wanting to embarrass her I said fine, fine and then hung up. Makes the most sense as I never quite got the 2,6,12 cores when for years everything from memory to CPU's have been, in sets of 2 to the 2nd power. 2,4,8,16,32,64,120,256,512, 1024, 2048,4196,8192, 72,768. Wow. W-O-W and will be using whatever I get with Apollo Quad.

How can I get the Fireworks pen tool to disengage from an open path shape (and stay disengaged)!

I am so frustrated! I can't get the fireworks pen tool to disengage when I am finished creating an open path shape (double clicking the end-point isn't working). The only way I can disengage the pen tool is to click on a different tool, BUT ...if I do that (i.e., click on a different tool), and then go back to the pen tool (with the intent to create another open path shape), the pen tool automatically engages the last point of my prior open path shape ... and ... no matter what I do, I can't get the pen tool in Fireworks to stop doing this with my open path shapes.
If anyone has any helpful advice, it would be much appreciated!

(note: I prefer not to have to go back and forth creating open path shapes in Illustrator then bring them into Fireworks, but if all else fails, I suppose I'll have to as a work-around.)

Have you tried holding the Command key and clicking away from the last point? The Command (⌘) key will bring up the Subselection tool; clicking on the canvas with it will allow you to disengage from the path. Once you release the key, the Pen tool will return and you can begin another path.

A script to increase the minimum canvas size? (Like Fit Image, but with just my canvas)

For starters to be clear, I'm looking to manipulate canvas size. Not image size.
I want to create a script to automatically increase the width and height of my canvas in Photoshop to a specific size when necessary. I only want this to happen if my canvas is less than that specified size. For example: Let's say my canvas size is 300x250. I want the canvas to be at LEAST 600x600. If I run my action it will increase the canvas size to 600x600 for me. If I run this same script on an image where the canvas size is already 700x700, it won't do anything at all to it because both the width and height are equal to or greater than my target size.
It would also need to work with the height and width on an individual basis. If my image is 400x800, the action would increase my width from 400 to 600, but it would leave the height of 800 alone. So the final canvas size will end up being 600x800.
It's kind of like the "Fit Image" option in Photoshop, but I only want to manipulate my canvas size, NOT my image size.

It is possible.
But if you hope that the dialog remembers the last settings that would require storing those values (which could be done with a txt-file at some pre-defined location), but it would make the Script a bit more complicated.

Multiple data blocks on the same canvas

Forms newbie question:
Is it possible to have 2 data blocks with two different sets of transactional triggers (ON-UPDATE, ON-LOCK, etc.) on the same canvas?
I've got an example where i've got two data blocks (one sourced from a view, and one that is a CTL block) on the same canvas. The block sourced from the view is working fine. When I make updates, they are reflected, etc. But, i've got one field in the control block that I need to update from as well, and I can't seem to get it (or any of the CTL block items) to show up as "updateable", regardless of the set_item_property....theyre always grayed out.
Do i need to take the user to a new canvas to be able to utilize the update of the ctl field?

A second canvas is not needed. Normally, control-block items are always updateable, so there is something going on in your form to prevent it.

What... Is there code someplace in the form that sets them to Enabled, false? If that is the case, then to get them working again, besides setting Enabled to true, you also must set Updateable and Navigable to Property_True. (This is documented at the end of the on-line help on Set_Item_Property.)

How to dynamically get the SOM expression of a field?

As a follow up to the note below, I would really appreciate any help as of how to get the SOM expression of a field dynamically, by this, I mean how to get the SOM expression of a field at running time using JavaScript.

That does make things clearer. You will have to save the change information in the XML. I realize that you don't want to save an xml node for every field, but there is a better way. You can use scripting to add data nodes to the XML data in the form. I'm thinking of the following:
Include an empty container node in your XML schema: <HighlightedFields></HighlightedFields>
When a field is changed, in the field's change event call a common script: HighlightChangedField, passing in the object. The script will highlight the field (set the border a certain color or whatever). It will also add node underneath the HighlightedFields data node with the SOM expression of the field. The SOM expression is the "path" of the object in the form heirarchy, sort of like an xpath. So if you have a subform named Subform1 and you change the Name and Address textfields, you might end up with something like:

The upside of this is that you only store XML nodes for what is changed instead of needing a specific XML node for each field. The downside is that you will need a call to the common script in every field's change event: HighlightChangedField(this);
Now, to make this work when a form is loaded the next time, in the initialize event at the topmost subform in the hierarchy you add a script that walks the HighlightedFields data node, and for each HighlighedField entry you highlight the contained object. You can get a reference to an object using its SOM expression, so just take the SOM expression from each entry and do an xfa.resolveNode(SOMExpression) to get the object, then set whatever attributes you want to highlight the field.
The big issue I see with this would be if you have dynamically added objects on your form. In that case you would probably need to store the instance index along with the SOM expression for each changed object, then use that instance number when highlighting on form load.

As a follow-up, I had said I would try to put together an example for you. The setting of the change indications and the highlighting of the fields is not a problem, but I did have an issue that perhaps one of the experts on the forum can help with:
The problem is how to detect a change in a text field without a lot of overhead. You can't just place a call to the highlight method in the Exit event without checking for a change, since the user can just tab from field to field without changing anything. Unfortunately the properties that show the old text and new text of a field are not valid on the Exit event. An alternative is to use the Change event, but with a text field the event fires for every character typed. This seems like a lot of extra processing..
Anyone know a better way? I went as far as using the extras collection on fields to hold the last value, but that adds a lot of complexity since it needs to be set to the initial raw value when the form is first loaded. I'd like to find a solution that doesn't require a lot of code to be added to every field on the form.

ADF and JQuery: How can I get the data back to server listener.

I use Jquery to draw the signature. How can I get the svgOutput back to my server listener.???
e.getSource give me the error e.getSource is not function.
Both of function saveSignatureCapture(which calling from ADF button) and $('#save-output').click(function (event) can not send the the data back to my server listener.

Stacked canvas view placed on the content canvas

Hi to all,
i am developed a one form ,i.e placed the stacked canvas view on the content convas.
i create a two data block's with same table.
one data block for content canvas and one for stacked canvas.
in the content canvas i taken two fileds with scroll bar and remaining fields placed on the stacked canvas.
these stacked canvas view put on the content canvas.it dispalying and
executed succesfully.
here i am getting one problem i am displying the 10 records at a time in both canvases.my requirment is placed on the
cursor on the content canvas particular record scroll down then automatically show the same record details in stacked canvas and
content canvas scroll bar is changed automatically stacked canvas scroll bar is changed.
any one help me.........

This is not necessary. Just create one data block and then assign the block items to your Content and Stacked canvases. You can display items in a data block on different canvases. By doing this, there is no need to write code to synchronize the records because they are part of the same data block so they will automatically scroll as you navigate through your records.

Outlook window getting the keyboard focus instead of user created Form Window during Outlook Startup

The problem is if the Window is made modal, it blocks the Outlook to launch and also goes back of the Outlook loading window (Whats New window will not be having keyboard focus). And if the Window is made non-modal (passing false to DisplayWhatsNewDialog()),
Outlook launches properly and What's New window comes at the top but will not be having keyboard focus; instead the launched Outlook window will be having the keyboard focus. May anyone please suggest a way to make the What's New window to be always having

The ShowDialog method will block the current thread. If you want to continue working with Outlook objects you need to use the Show method instead. The key fact is that both methods (Show and ShowDialog) accepts an instance of the IWin32Window interface
which allows to specify the parent window handle. Specifying the parent window handle (Outlook Explorer window) to the Show method you can make your window shown on top of Outlook all the time.
To get the HWND of an Outlook explorer object (e.g. Application.ActiveExplorer), cast it to IOleWindow and call IOleWindow.GetWindow(). Also you may find the

How to get the location of the last click.

What I can't seem to figure out how to do is get the location of the last click. I'm not setting anything by using the click im using the click to test boundaries. Basically if I click within this area this happens if i click within this other area something

Your description about your issue is very vague but you could for example handle the MouseLeftButtonDown event for the "area" and then use the MouseEventArgs.GetPosition method to determine the coordinates of the mouse click relative to some element,

Setting focus outside a control when no other control can get the focus

Hello
I'd like to know if there is a way to setfocus outside of a control even if there is no other control to receive the focus.
I have an editbox that has the focus (active) and I want to set visible to false to this control., but I cannot since it has the focus and there is no other controls that can get the focus.
As a temporary measure I've added another editbox that I moved outside of the visible interface to which I've moved the focus. But I would like to know the proper way to do this.

I think you are asking how to bring a windows form to the front.
If not I apologize...
The way I have done this:
1. I created a new thread.
2. I maxmized the window
I set the following properties:
ShowInTaskbar = False
TopMost = True
Focus()
BringToFront()
In all my testing I needed the window to be maximized, if it wasn't B1 stayed on top.
