Get workflow status abap object way

Hi all of you,
I am facing a workflow problem.
I am working on a class that implements the interface IF_SWF_IFS_WORKITEM_EXIT.
That class will be trigger after a user decision step to update a database table with current workflow informations.
My problem is how to find the workflow status (but not the user decision one) by knowing that my class is executed in the user decision step.
I know that I have this information in the table SWIWIOBJCT but as I decided to achieve my task using abap object, I would like to know if somebody know a simple way using abap object.
I am facing another problem: if the user decide to approve the document my workitem (for the user decision step and the global workflow) will now have the COMPLETED, but at the moment my class is executed they don't have the COMPLETED status yet.
Do someone know if the information on the new status of the workflow is stored anywhere?
I don't know if I have exposed clearly my problem, but I can give some points to any helper since the answer is helpful.

Sorry for my language. Information about workflow work item's (WI) status can find in SWWWIHEAD (transparent table) by simple select or using FM SWW_WI_WL_READ (on enter need give id of WI).
For another problem: can you get information about WI status twice from your own class (on enter and on out)? If can - check of changes status and did your procedures...

Since you are posting the thread related to SharePoint 2010 Designer workflow to SharePoint 2013 forum, are you using SharePoint 2010 workflow in SharePoint server 2013 envrionment or 2010 envrionment?
Please access Central Administration > Application Management > Manage services on server, switch to your server and All view, restart Microsoft SharePoint Foundation Workflow Timer Service. Test if the issue still exists.
If it still doesn't work, please access Central Administration > Monitoring > Review job definitions, check if the Workflow, Workflow Autocleanup, and Workflow Failover timer jobs are working well in your web application. Try to make
Workflow timer job to be scheduled to run every 1 minutes to test the issue again.

To get the Workflow status using the Object Key

Hi Experts,
Do we have any transaction code or a Standard table where I can see the status of the Workflow using the Object Key.
For example I have an Invoice Document number for which a Workflow has been triggered and now I want to see the which workflow has been triggered and what is the status for the same. I have only the Invoice Document Number.
I think I can use the SWI1, SWEL etc but I don't have Object key as Input field.

Hi,
You can find the workitem id in table SWW_WI2OBJ.
Here you need to pass the invoice number in "Instacne ID" with leading zeros, business object in Object type.
This may take little bit longer time.
After getting the workitem number then look into table SWWWIHEAD for the workitem status.

ABAP Objects with Workflows / Classes and Instances

Hello,
I am currently designing a workflow using an ABAP-Objects. So far I have been been able to get my Workflow to run with my class, but I have a couple of problems:
- I am using the Function 'SAP_WAPI_START_WORKFLOW' to start other subflows, which enables me to decide which subflow to start at runtime. All of the subflows have standart importing-parameters in their containers, such as the key of my class. In each workflow I instantiate my class using a self-written method, which checks the table T_INSTANCES in my object, and then either returns the object reference to an existing instance or creates a new one. Obviously all of the subflows that I call from my main workflow should be able to find the instance. As far as I can see in their protocolls, this happens without any problems. The problem starts when I make changes to the instance. For example the changing of attributes (with setter methods) seems not to work. After the subflows are finished, in my main workflow, I do not see (with getter methods) any changes that has been made to the object. Is local persistence really limited to one workflow ?
- My second problem is basically about the workflow container in workflow protocoll. In the same workflow, I can change the attributes of my object. Nevertheless, the protocoll always show the initial attribute, even though, my task with the getter-method returns the new value of the attribute.

Thank you for your answer. I think we are misunderstanding each other. The problem occurs (I think) because my class is not a singleton class. Or am I mistaken ?
When I directly start a subflow from my main workflow, then the instance that I have created in my main workflow is also visible to the subflow. As well as the static table which actually keeps track of the instances. So, in this case the subflows finds the instance and then can use the object as is.
When I start a subflow from my main workflow using the function I mentioned above, then even though the same object key is used, there is a new instance. And the static table (I assume that you mean a static variable from type table, when you say "class table") is completely empty. In this case, my "new" instance is created which overwrites every attribute that I have set in the main workflow, before I started the subflow. More interestingly, my main workflow instantiates another new object, as soon as the subflow has finished. (I am using an event to wait for the subflow to finish.)
On the other hand, I am not quite sure that I understood your approach with refresh and how it could help me. This method is not well documented anywhere, and all of the examples that I have found are about "leave it empty"
As far as I understood, this method is called by the workflow between the steps, when an object is used. I slowly start to think that I need advanced information about Workflows and Memory Management.

Tasks get completed but workflow Status shows 'Error Occured' and not 'COmpleted' in Sequential Workflow Visual Studio 2010

When the tasks are 'In Progress' the workflow status also remains "In Progress" but when the task is completed , it shows error Occurred. The following is my code in CompleteTask method.

I got it working by removing the complete task method and by updating the task in the ontaskchanged event , In that case both the task as well as the workflow gets updated

Workflow status is getting cancelled .

Hi All ,
I am using a workflow which working completely fine but at the end of workflow I am getting the status as ''CANCELLED" rather than Completed, I can see in the log that after the complition of last step I am getting the status logically deleted . I also checked in workflow agents view to check that if some one has logically deleted it manually but getting no one .
Can you please help me in this .

try these:
1) First of all, in your fork, right branch, where you are waiting for POSTED event, also receive the _EVT_CREATOR from the event (in the binding from event to WF) , if it is WF-BATCH, loop back to wait for event so that when posting is done from the Workflow, it does not ends itself. The completion of workflow will be taken care of by the other (parallel) branch of the fork
2) Yes, its confusing that why it is getting CANCELED. Is the MAIN workflow getting canceled? I doubt....it must only be the last few steps in the left hand branch (decision branch) of the fork; before those could be executed, the left branch of Wait event was over and thus nullified thosestep(s). Please confirm if the step status is CANCELED or the Main WF Status is canceled. If it's just the step, then point one would take care of it
3) If the MAIN WF gets canceled - then do check the workflow header-> the HAT icon-> Version Dependant Tab->Events Tab-> Check if POSTED is set to "CANCEL" the workflow (under Receiver type)....this could be causing the cancellation

How do I get a variable, or object from ABAP STACK.
Example: I start my FM. I can see in the ABAP STACK the variable I need. I can see the object; I could use to get my variable. I need to use it in my FM; however I need to reference it in the run time. How do I do that?
Is there a method I can use for reading ABAP STACK?
Do I just use command: get reference of u2026?
Does anyone have an example code?

Ah, you mean you want to access a variable from another program in the call stack, yes? You can do this using field symbols, but please don't try to change a value while doing this, it could really screw things up.
this example, is using two programs, where the second is accessing variables of the first program. Basically just notice that we are using the program name and the variable name when assigning the field symbol.

How to get the status of workflow

Hi all,
Please help me with a query to get the status of a worflow. For Eg: The close order line wf has fired for a particular order line in Oracle Apps (item type = OEOL). I just want to find the status of this using a query. Any hints will be very helpful.

Look in the ORABPEL database schema. There you will see a lot of tables related to workflow.

Call purchase requisition approval workflow in abap program

Hello,
I copied the standard workflow for the approvaI of a purchase requisition WS00000038 and i tested it. I create a purchase requisition in me51n. This is triggering the event releasestepcreated which starts my workflow. Everything goes ok.
Now, i want to call this workflow in ABAP. I do not know exactly how to do it. Here is the code I tried.

As you can see i filled he RequisitionHeader, requisition and release code. I saw in the workflow that i copied, that these are import parameters. Requisition and release code are mandatory. 0010000362 is a purchase requisition that i created.
After i run the program i receive a work item in SBWP but it has the status error.
Can you help me?Perhaps anyone has done this. I think that i am not filling the correct data or something like that. Maybe you can look in the standard workflow WS00000038 and tell me what I should pass and how.

Hi Efren,
The Problem is, for the purchase requisition there is two key fields.
So when you pass the keyfiled to workflow it should be the concatenation of Purchanse requisition number and the item number.
You have to pass the object key as below.
ls_objkey = '00100003620010'.
Then only your business object will getting insatanciated.

Difference between abap object and function

hi all,
i read the book on abap object of the difference between abap object and classical abap.
i know that there is only 1 instance of a specific function group but somehow i still not so clear why subsequent vehicle cannot use the same function. i also can use the do and loop to call the function? if cannot then why?

Try to repeat this using a function group and I think you'll undestand because it'll be very hard to do it.
By only one function group how can u read the data of a certain vehicle?
Yes you can create in the function group an internal table where u store the data of every car: in this way u use the internal table like it was an instance, but you should consider here the example is very simple. Here we have only the speed as characteristic, but really we can have many complex characteristics.

Please do NOT access tables directly unless you know what you're doing because these change - that one is one example of a table that has changed over the versions. SAP_WAPI_WORKITEMS_TO_OBJECT will give you the same info in a manner that is supported by SAP.
Next, before developing a report, are you aware of the standard functions? Most sites I've worked on users are happy to look at the log from within the PO using the object services button. Alternatively there's tx SWI6 - the only ugly thing is that you'll need to teach folk to put in BUS2012, but that can also be worked around.

ABAP Objects and table processing (with logical databases)

I have a report that is written right now using procedural abap and a logical database. The report is structured follows (high level):
start-of-selection.
get pernr.
perform get_it0001 using wtab.
perform get_it0002 using wtab.
perform get_it0003 using wtab.
append wtab to itab.
end-of-selection.
call function 'reuse_alv_grid_display'
 exporting
 i_structure_name = 'itabstructure'

So basically I'm going through a bunch of personnel numbers, getting a few infotypes and outputting to ALV. I don't see where ABAP Objects is going to help me for this particular program.
Can somebody show me where OO ABAP would make this easier? Does it even make sense to use OO when you're processing with a logical database? (Not just PNP, but any logical database in general).

The class CL_PT_EMPLOYEE provides us already with very easy access to so-called master infotypes (000, 0001, 0002, 0007 and 0008). All other infotypes can be read using method GET_INFOTYPES.
Using these classes we have a very convenient and standardized way of accessing all kinds of infotypes.

ABAP Objects template for HR programs

Is there a template to use Objects in HR programs the way we had with HR-macros ? It used to be like this when using PNP LDB:

Abap objects and selection screen

Hello everybody,
I am interested in your ways of implementing selection-screens in the style of ABAP Objects.
In earlier times (when I used to implement ABAP objects in a procedural way) I just put the selection-screen commands in an include or a form routine of my ABAP report. So it was possible to run the report in background.
Now I read something about selection-screens/dynpros and "separation of concerns" in the book "ABAP Objects" written by Keller. He advises using function groups to encapsulate presentation from logical matters. (Selection-screen commands are in an automatically generated include now). I implemented this way. (ABAP report with a local class, which has a main method, where function module of the function group is called). It works, but i see no chance to run my report in background now.. but I need to run the report in background.
Does anybody know a solution without deleting function group?
What do you think is the best way of using selection-screen-commands and ABAP Objects, especially regarding running in background?

Where do you write the code for building the selection-screen? (PARAMETERS, SELECT-OPTIONS etc.)
If you write these commands in a class method, you will get a syntax error ( because it's forbidden per definition of ABAP objects). So, am I right assuming that you put the coding just at the beginning of the ABAP report ? And after START-OF-SELECTION-event you start the processing... ?
Furthermore, I don't really understand why you create an separate class for ALV. I found your "SAP abap help"-blog, where you explained the concept of MVC ((By the way, well done!), but you didn't mention an "ALV class" there..
Mh.. another question - have you ever combined MVC with object services?
At the moment I'm working on a software project where I use object services. I created 2 persistent classes via SE24 and one local class in my ABAP Report.
I don't really see possibility to implement MVC in this project without change very much of coding and class structure...
In my opinion the M (data&business logic) are my existing global classes and my local class is kind of Controller class?!
