GetColumnSize....Not giving exact Size......! Urgent....!

Hai,
I am using getColumnSize method to find column size. It gives correct column size for oracle. But when I use postgres database it does not give correct column size for data,smallint datatype columns.
How can Solve it?
Any experts please help to me!

Ultimately, only you can define what you mean by "size of database". Depending on your purposes, your usage, it could mean any of the following:
1) Total size of all data files occupying disk space, measured at the OS
2) Total size (in bytes) of all extents. This will probably be somewhat less than #1.
3) Total count of all extents.
4) Total size (in bytes) of all data rows. This will probably be somewhat less than #2.
5) Total count of all data rows.
Personally, I would argue that only #1 and #2 could be considered measures of database size. #4 and #5 do not account for non-table objects which also occupy space, and #3 is pretty meaningless for most uses. But I have seen all of the above used at various times to mean "database size". There are probably some others that I've overlooked. My point is that there is no fixed definition of "database size" (just as there is no fixed definition of "database administrator") so you must decide what you mean by that term. Once you've done that - once you've defined what it is you really want to measure - the technique should be easy.
1.bytes:- Os bytes (we can get it from dba_segments)
2.blocks :oracle blocks (again from dba_segments)
we can find size on disk, by calculating size of all .dbf files......can't we??? please correct me if i am wrong...

Nokia N73 is not giving correct size of the folder.

Hi,
I am using FileConnection API in my code and when i try to retrieve the size of the Folder then it gives me the wrong size. It gives me the size = 430KB but there are only 2 png images in that folder which are of size 10K and 19K.
What i have done is :: I have created the folder and created multiple image through the application. And after sometime i have deleted some images from that folder through the application. And when next time when i was trying to get the size of that folder then it gives me the size = 430KB rather than the updated size.
After that i viewed the details of that folder through FileSystem. At that it also shows me the same size = 430 KB. It restarted the phone and then viewed the size but it was same.
I have deleted and created the file using create() and delete() of FileConnection API.
For creation of file::
                 fileConn.create();
                  OutputStream os = fileConn.openOutputStream();
                  os.write(data, 0, data.length);
                  os.close();
For Deletion::
            fileConn = (FileConnection) Connector.open(url);
               fileConn.delete();
               fileConn.close();There are no hidden files in that folder.
Can anyone please tell me what will be the problem? Is this a phone issue or something i have missed?

Read data driver not giving exact values

I am trying to get the data from an OSA usinf the Labview read data
instrument driver. It most of the time shows the spectrum similar
to the OSA in the Labview waveform grapf but the values, meaning the
x-axis and y-axis values do not at all correspond. I tried changing the
range using min,max and increment but did not work.Please advise. Here
is the snapshot of the graph obtained and the little program is also
attached.

ok i didnt really know what i was writing about then
but still i know from my own experience that the 2 types of graphs behave in different way when user tries to format x-axis
i had a program where 1 frame (have multiple frames in while function to control an instrument) was devoted to reading from the instrument and displaying a graph
i read not only data but also start/stop points on x axis
before i displayed data i used this additional info to format the graph using property nodes and it worked but then i pased data to the graph and x-axis was forced back to display number of points (i also set labels in the same way and it worked perfectly well for labels)
it also resulted in graph flickering
that was when i was using waveform graph, changing it simply to xy graph (and casting data to proper format) fixed the bug
this hint and the explanation: 'Waveform graphs plot data as a function of time, you can't directly define the data on the X Plot. To do this you need to use an XY graph.' i got from one NI engineer:

Does a text box for an ebook have to be the exact size?

I'm using Indesign to create an ebook. The usable, non-bordered area of each page is 800 x 600.
For each page I use the Type Tool button to allow me to create a text box that fills the page area of 800 x600 pixels. I go to great effort to make sure it is aligned perfectly and exactly the right size. I have slight muscular problems in my hands which makes them unsteady so I sometimes don't draw the box exactly the same size and have to undo it and start again a few times. It would be easier for me if I didn't have to be so precise.
My question is if I used the Type Tool to draw a Text box that is bigger than the 800x600 page would this have repurcussions in how the ebook functions or displays or does it not make any difference?

No it's not stealing. They have an allowance that you can share with so many computers/devices. You'll have to authorize her computer to play/use anything bought on your acct. You can do this under the Store menu at top when iTunes is open on her computer.
As far as getting it all on her computer....I think but I am not sure (because I don't use the feature) but I think if you turn on Home Sharing in iTunes it may copy the music to her computer. I don't know maybe it just streams it. If nothing else you can sign into your acct on her computer and download it all to her computer from the cloud. Not sure exactly how to go about that, I haven't had to do that yet. I wonder if once you authorize her computer and then set it up for automatic downloads (under Edit>Preferences>Store) if everything would download. Sorry I'm not much help on that.

SSRS sub report not fitting exactly in the parent textbox in main report.

contents of my report are as below.

At the end of the sub report a line is displayed indicating its end. This is what i am concerned about.

If I understand correctly, you have get a mess format with subreport.
We can adjust the subreport report body size and tablix with the same size. It will fit exactly in the parent text box. Please refer to the screenshot below:

Enhancement is in active state but not giving result.

Could you pls help me with this. I created an enchancement for a function module MARM_GENERIC_READ_WITH_MATNR. The enchancement is in active state but not giving the result. The result before and after enchancement is the same.

Hi Guru,
If you have created an implicit enhancement point you need to make sure that enahncement point is active and as well the Function Module is also Active.
Second thing is that if you have written any code inside the enhancement point, then make sure that you are entering the Ehancement point coding block.
For this do put a break point and do a debug test the coding - what exactly happens through the Coding.
It may be that the Coding Block inside the Enhancement point is not getting executed or the ehancement point is not getting executed(chekc for what reason ?)
Based on the abvove inputs hope you would have got some clue or would have got the solution.

Ident_Current('TableName') not giving last inserted identity Value in SQL Server 2012

Ident_Current('TableName') is not giving last inserted identity Value in SQL Server 2012.
Latest Value of ID and Ident_Current is differing for that particular table.
Why its happening? Ident_Current value is greater than last inserted ID.
Please guide me why its happening?

Because the second INSERT statement fails, the identity values from 2 to 12 are lost. This is a very intentional design to promote high concurrency. If you don't want gaps, you should not use IDENTITY, but roll your own.
Also, beware that ident_current returns database-wide value, so if you insert one row, and another process inserts another row before you interrogate ident_current, you will get the id for the row of the other process.

Exporting exact size image file

Can anyone tell me now to go about setting things up so that if I export my work to an image format like *.psd... I can predetermine the exact size the image will be?
I've groped around in the help file but this kind of thing is hard to nail down the search strings that will unearth something. So far I haven't.
That goes ditto for google too. Seems like there are too many things matching the needed key words.
I see 2 things in the export dialog itself which probably has bearing on final size. Those are the check box of whether to include artboard or not and more important the resolution to save at.
But still seems no way to know in advance what it will be.
I have found that if I stay with screen resolution (72) then the final output will be very close to the same size as the artwork itself. Just with in
rounding of decimals in fact.
So is there some nifty formula to get the exact size a 150 or 300 Resloution image will be?

it sounds like youre perhaps misunderstanding the relationship of size and resolution. 72 is screen or web resolution which is why it "looks" the same.
if exporting from AI to psd, use the Image>Image Size option in photoshop.
• if you are using for web then use the "Save For Web & Devices" feature under "File". You get a lot of options on file type and size.
Uncheck "Clip to Artboard" if you only want to export the visible images.
If you are using masks, you may want to use the crop tool to select exactly what you want to export, and then you can set exact sizes in the "Image Size" tab. Dont forget to constrain proportions.
• if you want to print a file then the size is "set" at the size you dictate in the "image size" and the resolution affects how good it looks when it prints out.

I have reproduced a very detailed map that I now want to print. The original was based on a scanned version that measures in PS 36 X 45 inches or 10440 X 13920 px. I want one copy to be at the larger size and it does not need to be exact. I want a second print to exactly match the original at 15.92 inches wide. I don't see how to get this exact size print in AI and since I will be taking this to an outside printer I thought it would be nice if I knew how to get this exact size print.

Your description of what you have done and your requirements are not clear. All the responses thus far involve some degree of guessing.

What do you mean by "reproduced"? Traced it as vector paths in Illustrator? Reworked it in Photoshop?...?...?

Okay. You have a 10440 x 13920 pixel raster image.
Those proportions do not scale to 36 x 45 inches.
They scale to 33.75 x 45 or 36 x 48.
I want one copy to be at the larger size and it does not need to be exact.
What "larger size"?
What do you mean by "a copy"? How is this going to be printed? Offset lithography? One-off large format inkjet printer?...?
Assuming we're talking about offset, sheetfed, CMYK printing the raster image combined with some native Illusrator artwork, do this:
1. Open the image in Photoshop. Perform whatever raster retouching you want. Perform whatever color correction you want. When all rework of the image itself is done, be sure you end up in CMYK mode. Save the file in Photoshop format as "Original".
2. ReSIZE it to the desired print scale. Crop it to the area you want to print, plus at least .125" extra on any side that bleeds. ReSAMPLE it to 1-to-2 times the halftone screen ruling that will be used when it is printed. Flatten layers. Remove any extra channels. Sharpen it appropriately. Save in TIFF format, as "LargeMap".
3. Set up a new Illustrator document an appropriate size. "Appropriate size" depends upon the printing setup and whether there are bleeds. You can set the Artboard size to the size of the press sheet (assuming sheetfed printing), or to the trim size plus any bleed, plus room for any trim or fold marks you want to include.
4. Import the raster image. Position it correctly relative to the trim marks or guides. Put it on its own layer and lock the layter.
5. Draw the native Illustrator stuff on Layer(s) above it.
6. Save as Press Ready PDF.
I want a second print to exactly match the original at 15.92 inches wide.
For best results, open the cleaned up, full-res image you saved and named as "Original" in step 1. Then repeat steps 2 (saving it as "SmallMap") through 6.

You can scale a raster image that you have placed in Illustrator, just as you would scale any other object. For example, assuming the image you place is the original 10440 x 13920 scan. You could simply turn on the proportional link in the Transform palette, and set the width to, say 15.92 inches. But that would scale the image to a grossly oversampled 656 ppi.The excess data would simply get averaged away in the imaging process, resulting in a slight blurring and "muddying" of the image. (In other words, it would effectively undo your careful sharpening.)

Raster images should be sampled so as to achieve a ppi that is appropriate to the specific printing method, when scaled to the printed size. Too many people just offhandedly say to "make everything 300 ppi". That is just a corruption of the general rule-of-thumb mentioned above in step 2: Sample your images so that their effective ppi is 1-to-2 times the halftone ruling.
Assuming the common 150 lpi halftone, 225 ppi would be considered dead center of that range, not 300 ppi. 150 ppi is the "low side" of the range; 300 is the "high side". When a range is given, you don't just automatically set everything at the "high side"; otherwise, there would be no reason for providing a range. (If your tires say the maximum inflation is 45 psi, is that the pressure you always use?).
The "high side" is not necessarily for "best results"; it's to allow some fudge room convenience if you decide to scale the image larger on page. Neither is the "low side" necessarily "worst results" or "borderline results": It depends on the image. For example, there is no reason to set a soft-edged drop shadow at higher than the halftone ruling. There is no sharp detail to worry about preserving; the only concern is to avoid visible pixelation, which will not occur if sampled to the halftone ruling. (One round halftone dot cannot render the square shape of a single pixel.)

You put the results in memory not in spool. So that the calling program can read these.
The calling program must use FM 'LIST_FROM_MEMORY to recover the data.
If you have no caller, use TO SAP-SPOOL

Exact size of clips?

Is there a way i can tell the exact size of a clip, the way it is now it may say 5.4 second but this is not exact since I can trim it an it still is 5.4.
If I try the usual apple i command, the iSight opens.

You were asking size, not frames. Frames is easy.
First, go into iMovie/Preferences and put a checkmark next to something like "Display Timecodes as HH:MM:SS:Frames". I can't remember exactly what it says because I now have iMovie 09 which uses slightly different words to do the same thing. By checking this box, you can edit to the frame level. The default is to be able to edit to the nearest 10th of a second.
Once you have checked this box, you will be able to see the exact length, in seconds and frames, of your selections as you drag the yellow border.
You may also find it useful to turn on VIEW/PLAYHEAD INFO. This will not show you frames, but it will show you the time codes in the source material as you skim over the footage.

Get exact size of directory or bundle

How can I get exact size of directory or app bundle? The `du` command shows disk usage (as per command name), is there a command to get exact file size in bytes (stripping the overhead bytes of blocks)?

Try the following, which takes into account resource forks:

My quick testing seems to indicate that directories and subdirectories are not being counted, but file resource forks are.
My tests did not try Aliases, Symlinks, CHR, BLK, or FIFO typed files, so it may or may not be accurate.

Boot camp assistant not giving option to boot from windows partition drive

Hi, I am a recent convert to Mac OS (10.6.8) on my three year old Macbook. I have been using windows on boot camp since the beginning and have just shifted to OS as the windows was taking too much space and running quite slow (not to mention the viruses accumulating!). I am getting better at it now, only Excel being problematic adjusting to with the different and less convenient keyboard shortcut keys!
Whilst moving over to MacOS, I changed around the disk partitions using disk utility to free up and utilize some unused space. My Boot camp partition still exists untouched, but the boot camp assistant is not giving me the option to restart the computer using the C: drive (and enter windows). I also have saved data on windows that i want to transfer over to MacOS. Any suggestions please? all help/comments will be much appreciated! Thanks.
