GetContentType = Nullpointer, "rebuild" message finally works... *confuse*

Hi,
i just got a question, not really a problem.
So let me try to explain.
We receive mails from a groupwise server. Sometimes (not every mail, but some, could not find out which) i am getting a nullpointer if i ask for the contentType.
If i now read the message, write it back .. the rest will work fine. If i dont do so, i also get a nullpointer calling getRawInputStream.
.. but let the source explain :)
try {
     contentTypeStr = emailMessage.getContentType();
} catch (Exception e) {
     emailMessage = (MimeMessage)dumpMessage((Message)emailMessage);in my testscenario, dumpmessage just does something like:
(emailMessage is NOT changed)
//          test
          File file2 = File.createTempFile("dummy", ".eml");
          FileOutputStream fileOutputStream2 = new FileOutputStream(file2);
          emailMessage.writeTo(fileOutputStream2);
          fileOutputStream2.flush();
          fileOutputStream2.close();
          source = new FileInputStream(file2);
          message = new MimeMessage(session, source);
          return message;
//          testAnd now i can finally read the mail properly... no more nullpointer..
may anybody explain that to me?
thx in advance

I assume you're using IMAP.
This is usually caused by a bug in the server. Please post a protocol trace
showing the problem, or send it to me at [email protected]
And make sure you have installed all the latest patches for GroupWise.

  • Finally working 2.0 but no contacts!

    I finally got my phone working again, i had to take it to the apple store.
    I came home and synced my phone. Music, pictures, and txt messages all worked.
    But i have no contacts.
    Any help?

    What does the contacts icon provide that contacts from phone icon does not? The two seem to be identical in nature.
    They are identical. There had been a lot of feedback from original iPhone users for direct access to contacts (instead of having to go through the phone icon esp. when you don't want to make a call), so Apple responded while keeping contacts also immediately available for calling purposes.
    (I hope that's not too confusing? sorry I haven't said it too elegantly...)

    Not with your current user id.
    Far too much uneccesary information in your post, which only confuses things, a vast amount!
    Let's start with iTunes.
    Have you updated iTunes to 11.1.5, because the previous version did appear to have an issue about seeing iPods?
    With iTunes 11.1.5 installed, look in Edit/Preferences/Devices, (or use the ALT key, followed by the E key and then the F key) and make sure that the box named Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing automatically does not have a tick in the box.
    Once you have doen those two things, check to see if the iPod is seen by iTunes.

    By the way, what does IOS mean? (I thought IO stood for operating system, but am flummoxed by the S on the end.
    Really?
    OS stands for Operating System. (In computer speak, IO means Input/Output.)
    iOS originally stood for iPhone Operating System, but it now refers to the iPod Touch and iPhone. The iPod Classic, which you have listed in your profile as your iPod, does not use iOS.
    I assume that you have been listening to the Podcast in your iTunes on the computer as you cannot transfer it to your iPod. It's what I'd do.

  • Yahoo Business Mail finally working again after 11 months

    Thanks to Safari 4.0.4 Yahoo Business Mail is finally working after breaking over 11 months ago because of an Apple update. I'm glad I don't have to switch to a different browser just to check my email anymore but having to wait a year for a bugfix that Apple themselves caused and refused to fix was really annoying.

    There's no question in there, so why is this marked as a question? Further, not only in this message, but in many of your posts, you seem to be awfully fond of all caps. You need to be aware that this is a great way to ensure that people don't read your posts. Also, think a little more carefully about what you're going to write before posting... flow-of-consciousness is not the easiest to read, and thus is also a great way to get people to ignore your posts. Try to organize your writing better.
    I'm not trying to be insulting, but you do need to know that a post like this one gives a negative impression to the reader, and if you actually were asking a question, it reduces the chances of getting that question answered.

  • Messages not working after 10.9.2 upgrade - XPCIMDMessageStoreSendXPCMessage fails

    I have upgraded five machines to 10.9.2, but one of them has run into a persistent problem with messages.
    On startup, I get a Message that an internal error has ocurred and asks me to relaunch. After that the window comes up and the acount window shows me logged in, but the history is not updated and new messages take forever to deliver or do not go through at all. They usually do not update on the local display.
    The console log shows lot of failures like these:
    - 2/27/14 6:33:44.954 PM imagent[371]: [Warning] __XPCIMDMessageStoreSendXPCMessage failed too many times...bailing!
    I have set up another account and tried logging in from it, but it shows the same behavior.
    The firewall is off, certificate seem to be fine. When I log out and back in, the other systems devices get all the nag messages about the system and numbers being added, so it is communicating with the server. But messages are not coming through.
    I have cleared all preferences and caches, but the behavior does not change.
    I have reverted the system to 10.9 by installing over it. Messages immediately works fine (same preferences etc.) Everything works great, but I'd rather not live with the SSL bug.
    I have upgraded using the Combo Update and another time using the App Store. The behavior stays the same.
    The other four machines and my 4 iOS devices are all working as expected.
    Does anybody have any ideas? My family and friends use Messages a lot, so I need it on my main machine.
    Thanks,
    -- Harald

    Hi,
    I will presume again then.
    I would also try these one at a time.  Doing it this way is less invasive than doing them altogether.
    The Console Message looks more like it belongs to an iMessage sending than an AIM, Jabber or Yahoo ones.
    In this case I would try deleting com.apple.imessages.bag.plist
    This is not the Account info for iMessages but it is the server the app (and IMAgent) connect to.
    If that does not work I would try the iMessages account one (com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist)
    This is the one in use in Mavericks.
    You may still have the Mountain Lion one present (com.apple.imservice.iMessage.plist)
    You could try using Activity Monitor to Force Quit IMAgent but you first need to turn Off FaceTime even if it is not open (IMAgent does it's "Listening" as well as for the Messages app.
    It goes without saying the Messages app should also be Quit.
    I would again restart the computer when Quit the IMAgent app.

  • New to the Magic Triangle - can't get ichat/messages to work

    Hey all, thanks for your support right away, I have a feeling I will become a regular.  So lets get too it!
    I'm using the latest OSX server on Yosemite. I've also attached this server to our Active Directory Server.  I've been able to configure and use the following services:
    * file sharing
    * time machine
    * Netinstall
    * open directory
    I'm working on getting messages to work, to which I feel should have been pretty simple.  The error that is persisting is "Messages can't communicate..." "The host domain.com does not support Kerberos authentication."
    In the log on the server i'm getting : connect then right after disconnect jid=unbound packets 0
    So some of the things i've done: (which probably made it worse)
    - In active directory I set the computer to trust this computer for delegation to any service (Kerberos only)
    - I've set on the client to "Use Kerberos v5 for authentication"
    - I've made sure the DNS is legit with the PTR record.
    - I've tried setting the host array
    - sudo serveradmin fullstatus shows the following:
    jabber:state = "RUNNING"
    jabber:roomsState = "RUNNING"
    jabber:logPaths:PROXY_LOG = "/private/var/jabberd/log/proxy65.log"
    jabber:logPaths:MUC_STD_LOG = "/var/log/system.log"
    jabber:logPaths:JABBER_LOG = "/var/log/system.log"
    jabber:proxyState = "RUNNING"
    jabber:currentConnections = "0"
    jabber:currentConnectionsPort1 = "0"
    jabber:currentConnectionsPort2 = "0"
    jabber:pluginVersion = "10.8.215"
    jabber:servicePortsAreRestricted = "NO"
    jabber:servicePortsRestrictionInfo = _empty_array
    jabber:hostsCommaDelimitedString = "domain.com,ODSERVER-01.domain.int"
    jabber:hosts:_array_index:0 = "domain.com"

    jabber:setStateVersion = 1
    jabber:startedTime = "2015-04-09 19:44:53 +0000"
    jabber:readWriteSettingsVersion = 1
    The strange bit, is that on the Message page it shows Available on your local network at ODSERVER-2.local.  While the hostname on the main overview page shows the correct hostname.
    So i'm a bit at a loss where to go from here.  But while i'm poking around the interNETz, I figured i'd chime in here to see if you guys could give me some sweet sweet assistance.

    First of all, why did you say yes to Nero Back up before researching what it does with files already on the HDD? When I install Nero, the Back Up is the first thing I disable, it is a nagging pain, there are much better backup programs available. There are several file recovery programs out there to recover deleted files, that is, if that is what happened. Also, if you haven't overwritten the files, so you should be able to find them.

  • I cant get my messaging to work on my ipod touch...can you help me?

    how do i get the messaging to work on my ipod?

    you have to apply Extension Manager 5.0.3 update. Apple made some API changes in Lion which causes Extension Manager CS5/5.5 crash. We released Extension Manager 5.0.3 and 5.5.3 update last April to solve this issue. You can apply this update via Adobe Application Manager. You can also click "Help"->"Updates..." menu item in Photoshop CS5, then update Extension Manager CS5 in popped up dialog box.
    Each version of Extension Manager only installs/manages extensions for the same version of products. For example, Extension Manager CS5 only installs or manages extensions for Dreamweaver CS5, Photoshop CS5, InDesign CS5, etc. Extension Manager CC is only for Photoshop CC, etc.

    mono 8 bit 8k is 64kbps, yes. 8 bits times 8,000 = 64,000 = 64k bits/sec.
    And yes I think that's a typo - there's no such thing as 'Mone' that I've ever heard of...
    But you might want to check to find out if this is a mu-law non-linear format, possibly - there are several ways that 8 bit 8k wav files can be encoded, and typically phone systems don't use linear ones. If you have a log-in to Zultys' user-base system they have an FAQ there, I believe - the answer might be in that, and it won't cost $500.

  • Is "Messages" app working properly for your Nework users?

    I'm seeing a very odd issue where the new 10.8 "Messages" app not acting properly for users with a networked home directory.  If logging in on the server, the users' Message app works just fine.  When logging on from a client mounting their home directory over the network, the Messages app can send messages fine, but does not receive messages.  What is odd is that the app does get the signal that the person is responding to an outgoing message showing their avatar and "...", so something is being recieved, but no message ever shows up.
    Anyone else seeing this on client systems?
    Thanks,

    I've got messages server running on Mountain Lion Server (fresh install) and both 10.7.4 and 10.8.0 clients are able to message each other, the 10.7.4 clients are network home users but I was forced to change the 10.8 user to a mobile home account because everytime they opened Mail all there contacts would get deleted.
    Assuming your client are on 10.8 you have probably found another network home bug, consider switching to mobile homes until it is fixed
