GetTime Or Wait problem

Hi..
Time difference between two GetDate/Time calls with a wait function in between shows a lesser time taken than the wait duration specified. How is that possible? Pls see the attached VI. Any thoughts?
Thanks and regards
Chandra

The get-date time function has a resolution of 16 ms. (or something like that) on Windows ,  the returned timestamp isn't fully accurate. This is an OS limitation.
Ton (if you use the Tick count you will see a wait time of 50/51 ms)

  • Free Buffer Waits Problem

    Hi there,
    (OS= OL, DB=11.2, RAM=128g, CPUs=16)
I have a large bulk DML operation (using MERGE statement) to populate a cube-like table with about 3,000,000 records per day from about 600,000 records fact table data. It takes approximately 7 minutes to complete. It can be seen from OEM that the wait event: Free Buffer Waits is the main wait event during this operation.
I spent some time googling the issue to find ways to get rid of that, but I'm get disappointed. I dont know now that if there is a problem in my DB parameters or it is related to OS level configuration or even other reasons. The DB is using AMM with 100g as the MEMORY_TARGET parameter and the cube-like table doesnt use ASSM.
Please help me to learn how to handle the problem. This can be said in terms of some checking approaches to control the environment or any other ways.

    @Nikolay Savvinov
No I don't have that. any other monitoring tools?
    @Rob_J
Can you provide me with some links to illustrate this?
    @Jonathan Lewis
I found that wait event in the OEM performance curves. In OEM, the amount of time that some CPUs are dealing with some occurrences is shown in terms of performance curves, I think. In other word, I dont know how to provide you with what fraction of 7 minutes consumed for that wait event. I can tell you things I think useful which maybe non-scientific:
As I mentioned before, I'm using a merge statement. As you know, this statement starts with a evaluation of using clause and then the DB decides on update or insert. I think the wait event is not due to first sub-operation but it is for insert operation and with a lower probability for update. The curve of "Free Buffer Wait" in the configuration class of OEM conforms with this assumption. It does not exists in first minute of 7 minutes. We can assume that the CPUs are calculating the using statement. Then it suddenly raised up to its peak and after some seconds, say 30-40 seconds, it falls down dramatically to a very little amount and goes on this way to eventually fade out at 5th minute. Please help me if there is a more scientific way to express the event.
    Tnx,

  • OBIEE(11.1.1.6.8) dashboard prompts "Please Wait" Problem after the automatic upgrade of browser

    Hi  all,
We have a problem in OBIEE(11.1.1.6.8) dashboard prompts after the upgrade of Chrome browser.. The values of dashboard prompts are not shown to user ( with message "Please wait" ) We had this problem in Internet Explorer 10. So we had announced the users to have minimum browser versions Chrome 12+ , Firefox 17+ , Internet Explorer 9.x as its is declared in certification matrix. Now after upgrade (automatically)in Chrome version 30.0.1599.101 m , we have the same problem and the only working browser remaining is Mozilla Firefox. What should we do to prevent this without upgrade or patch ? Is there any workaround ?
    Thanks ...

  • 10.8.4 Update - App Store - Waiting Problem?

I checked for updates last night and the App Store opened and said 10.8.4 was available.  I clicked 'update' and it showed as 'waiting'.  This morning, fifteen hours later, the App Store still shows 'waiting'.  I am unable to log out or shut down.  I get a couple differnent info boxes when trying, one says "OS updates must complete before App Store can quit, and the other says "Can not quit when updates are in progress".  When looking at my switch, it doesn't appear data is being transfered.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I'm unable to log off so my wife can log in.  I'm not at my machine but have kept my software up to date so I'm positive I'm running 10.8.3.
    Thanks much.

A tip for the future. Instead of relying on the App Store for system updates, you can go here and get them directly, cancel them in the middle if the connection is too slow, and  install them when it's convenient for you rather than the App Store. Moreover, you can choose to download and use the combo updater rather than the incremental version. The combo is larger but installs all the updates released since the original version of Mountain Lion, which can fix a lot of incipient problems.

  • Ipad App waiting problem

I have paid for several apps on a new Ipad, when I try to download them to the ipad they sit on waiting forever!
I have tried ALL the suggestions on the net, i cant sync to itunes on my macbook as itunes locks up whenever I plug the ipad in to the mac, I have tried pausing and restarting the download, I have tried deleting the download and reinstalling, and I have tried going to updates with the app paused to resume but nothing shows. I have logged in and out of the app store, reset and rebooted the ipad more times than I care to remember.
This is SO frustrating. I only bought the Ipad 2 days ago, and if I cant install apps on it it is absolutely useless to me. I may send it back, and seek a refund from the app store for the apps.
In hope that there is some way to resolve this I am posting here in desperation. I have an important prokect looming which the ipad was to play an important role in, but was dismayed to see the problem, with no resolution for many people all over the net.
    Can ANYONE help? Please?
    Sylwia.

If there are multiple apps trying to download at once, only one can download at a time and the rest say "Waiting" until it is then their turn. Try this. Double tap the icon of the Waiting app, and it should resume the download.

Another thing to try - Turn the iPad Off & then back ON.
    If that doesn't work:
    •  Log out of your iTunes store account.  Go to Settings > Store > Sign Out Then press the Home button.
    • Then press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously and don't release them when it brings up the Turn Off screen; keep holding them until the Apple logo appears.
    • After restart, the Waiting should be gone.

  • MSI GE60 Windows 8 - Please Wait Problem

    Hello.
I've been an MSI Notebook GE60 user for around 4 months now.
I bought this laptop in Stockholm, Sweden in July and one day after purchase it has this problem. Every time I would turn on the PC from a shutdown, sleep or  hibernate and also if I locked the screen with win + L a "Please Wait" with a loading circle would appear for 30 minutes...until I could finally log back on. I turned the laptop into the store where I purchased it and after a couple of hours the tech guys checking it for problems. They told me that it was caused by hardware problems and not by ME. So...They took the laptop back in and told me that I could get my money back due to the law in Sweden. With that money I buy the same type of laptop. A MSI GE60.
Now it is August 28 of 2013 and Im having the same problem...THE SAME PROBLEM...
I am so pissed and angry at this point. I am furious with rage.
I buy a a very good and expensive laptop with money I have worked hard for and I GET THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN???  THIS IS totally unacceptable.
I live in South America, Argentina. And I go to school, this problem cannot continue. I cannot wait 30 minutes every time I open my pc from sleep mode. I cannot shut it down and open it up again (it works fine then, but i lose all my work etc..)
I have scanned the computer with sfc /scannow and also run all troubleshooting options.
Scanned for virus's. Possibly everything that can be done. HOWEVER, this problem goes away when I run in safe mode. What can this mean?
I'm seriously demanding a refund if this is a hardware problem from MSI once again. I'm really sad about this, this is a great laptop, but the same problem occuring twice...? Come on..
    Thanks for reading.
I hope someone gets in contact with me.

I tried both solutions. They did not fix the problem.
    Hi D..!
I am sorry to hear that.
You ran sfc and dism as administrator? And I take it that you have removed hibernation and use the fastest powerplan? Anything in the logs that point you in the right direction?
Since you bought the GE60 in Sweden you are covered by Swedish consumer laws that is even better than in my country Denmark, because you have at least 2 years of warranty! Use that and turn the nb in where you bought it!
This GE60 is my first computer that is not Asus and less than Win-8, and I am not an expert in MSI and Win-8. However there are some very clever and able people in this forum, so keep on pushing this item until you find the right solution!
    Hope you will succeed!

  • Call waiting Problem!

    Hi there -
If I'm on a call and another comes in - i take a look at who is calling and the screen goes black - no display - thus - I can't switch over to answer.
    Any similar problems - solutions??

My first question would be are you using a case? And if so does it cover the area of the phone near the ear piece?
If that is the case it is possible the proximity sensor is not able to properly detect when the iPhone was pulled away from your face. Try the same thing without a case (if you're using one)

  • How to fix the "waiting" problem?

I just got a new ipod 4G and I tried to install games from the app store. At first it worked and I can play the games. After a few days I tried installing new games but it only said waiting instead of loading. I waited for days and it still said waiting. So I deleted some games that I managed to install before, hoping I can install new ones, but I didn't work. Then I tried to re-install the games that were succesfully downloaded before and the same thing happened: I couldn't install them & the sign read "waiting". How can I fix this?

Have you tried to reset your iPod to see if that does any good?  To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.  Then make sure you are reconnected to a working Wi-Fi network before attempting to redownload anything again.
If still no luck, try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network and see if that does any good.

Shirley RemediosWe had the same problem and reduced the number of sockets in this state by reducing

  • I recently purchased an ipad and downloaded apps.  They now all say "waiting" under the app icon but I'm connected.  How do I fix this?

Anyone have an answer for this?

I faced this problem sometime ago.
If you let it download thru' the night, it should be completed by morning.
This "Waiting" problem will disappear after a few days.
I cannot explain why it happen.

  • How can I stop iTunes from repeatedly attempting to download old podcasts?

Old podcasts keep coming back in my downloads. delete them and they keep coming back. even some I listened to and then removed come back later. Not the 24 hour wait problem, some of these are months old since i listened to them.

Hi  - I never thought of using the WiFi.  Thanks.  I already have the 'manually manage music' checked  but now I need to get rid of most of the music.
Let me look at the settings on my iPad. Okay I checked not to automatically sync.
Brian, I do need to transfer PDF Files from my iMac to my iPad.  I suppose that using Wifi I can just drag and drop?  Using iTunes like I have been I just open Adobe on my iPad then use iTunes to drop the class files into the iPad.

Did some searches, but did not come up with anything regarding your specific issue (the original one, the grey 'waiting' problem is quite common). If no other ofrum users chime in, it is indeed time to contact Apple / iTunes Store support.
If you have not yet one so, Try to Reset your device.  Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off that shows up first).
You could also try to re-download one or two apps, just to see if anything changes. Log in to the iTunes Store, go to the Purchases section and download from the list of past purchases or free apps.
Sorry I wasn't of better help. Good luck.

  • Split creation of the index

    Hi !
I have a table with more 50 GO of documents and i will create an index for full text search.
The problem is that the creation take a long time and it is problem to create it in a production environment.
It is possible to split the creation of the index. for example 10 GO by 10 GO.
Thanks a lot for your answers.
    L.A

For locally partitioned text indexes, you can rebuild each partition separately. If you have lots of memory and CPUs, then you might be able to rebuild all the partitions simultaneously. As raford suggested, it is a two step process:
    1. create the index with nopopulate
    2. rebuild each partition in a separate session
    eg
    ALTER INDEX xxx REBUILD PARTITION xxx PARAMETERS ('replace memory 200M');
Using this technique, I can rebuild a 7M doc/35GB index in about 3 hours.
The index rate for each partition is about 17 docs/sec. I don't know if this is particularly good or bad as a rate per se. I've tried adding "PARALLEL 4" to my rebuild statements and, for at least one partition, it jumped to an astonding 79 docs/sec rate. But contention lock and wait problems ensued for the other partitions, so I need to do more testing of this option.
