GetTimezoneOffset got one hour ahead on linux than windows

I'm using Date object to retrieve current local time for
display. But got one hour ahead than the system time.
For an example, I set the system time zone to Hong Kong,
China. The getTimezoneOffset() return -540 on linux, but on
Windows, it's -480. So, the time in flash is one hour ahead than
the system time.
I have checked that the getUTCHours() return the same result
on linux and windows.
Any Suggestions?
thx!

Can somebody please confirm/deny this.
FP 9 on Linux shows time one hour ahead than the local time.
Try following line with FP9 on Linux
trace("Current Time "+new Date());

  • Appointments one hour ahead of appointments created in iCloud - both before *and* after the shift from daylight savings time

I am in the CET timezone and my Lumia 925 on 8.1 has consistently shown appointments one hour ahead of appointments created in iCloud - both before and after the shift from daylight savings time here.
My disappointment is compounded by the fact that I patiently waited for October, naïvely thinking the clockchange would solve things... doh.
Look forward to your earliest solution.
    Jonny.

There is a separate thread on this subject. It's a bug in Windows Phone 8.1. It is fixed in the upcoming Windows 8.1 Update 1 release (due Nov/Dec 2014). Alternatively, you can install the developer preview (go to Store and search for 'preview for developers'.
You have to register as a developer though (easily done through appstudio.windows.com) or you can wait for your phone vendor (Microsoft / Nokia) to release the 'Denim' upgrade.
For now, I don't know a decent workaround.

  • Calendar events one hour ahead

    Hi
Just got my new 4s and have synced my calendars between Outllok on Windows 7 and my phone.  I have an evet that runs every Friday between 18:45 and 20:00 which is set up as a recurring event.  It displays fine on my calendar at the minute by looking ahead to the end of march the time displayed seems to have shifted forward an hour to 19:45 - this I believe coincides with the change to BST.  Obviously my event still hapens at 18:45 and I would like the calendar to display this.  The strange thing however is when I go in to edit the event on my phone - on the edit screen it shows as 18:45, yet when I save this it still displays as 19:45 on the event screen ....
Have I set something up wrong?  Can I do something to get the calendar to display correctly?
    Thanks in advance
    Nigel

Thanks for the above - played around with setting etc on my phone but with no luck.  The only way I seem to be able to get the correct time to to create two recurring events - one until BST and the other after which is hardly ideal - I must be doing something wrong!!  Just noticed that exactly the same thing happens on my iPad

  • Will my phone automatically go one hour ahead tonight for the time change? Also, if I set my alarm will it go off at the time it's supposed to, or an hour later?

I live in ny and was wondering if tonight with the time change, will my iPhone automatically change the time? Also, if my alarm is set to go off in the morning, will it go off an hour later, or at the time that its supposed to?

On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Date & Time.
If you have Set Automatically selected, the date and time for your iPhone is set automtically based on the tower your iPhone is connected to with your cell phone carrier.
The date and time will be changed automatically on your iPhone based on your carrier changing the date and time at the tower your iPhone is connected with.
If the date and time is changed automatically on your iPhone, the alarm wiil go off at the selected time for the alarm. If you need to ensure you don't miss waking up at the designated time, I would use a backup alarm that is not based on the date and time being changed by your cell phone carrier.

  • Edge 13(AMD) hotter in Linux than windows

    Hi,
I got my Edge 13 few weeks and quite satisfied. However, I just installed windows
    for a certain entertainment use.
I spent many days for tuning my gentoo system. Including compiling a minimize
kernel, built-in most of the driver needed.
Unfortunately, I found Edge is cooler in windows for sure.
I did compile the kernel myself, but I'm sure the cpu-scaling and on-demand
profile pull CPU back to 800MHz. The temp. reading is :
    Adapter: PCI adapter
    Core0 Temp:  +63.0°C
    Core0 Temp:  +69.0°C
    Core1 Temp:  +64.0°C
    Core1 Temp:  +70.0°C
    Adapter: PCI adapterCore0 Temp:  +65.0°C
    Core0 Temp:  +70.0°C
    Core1 Temp:  +65.0°C
    Core1 Temp:  +71.0°C
I couldn't help but doubt there is something wrong.
    So I'm going to ask:
How hot is your Edge is in Linux?
Is there anyone notice what could be wrong? I can provide my kernel config if it help.
    Thank you.

Yeah I just put the speed down in Ubuntu until I need it. Now for more info Vista and Win7 run cooler than XP. My old laptop ran mid 50's Cel. GPU 60's. In Xp mid 70's Cel. GPU 80's. So I put Vista back on it and sold it to get my Lenovo.

I have an ipod shuffle 4th generation. I would like for the music to automatically shut off after one hour long song rather than going to next song on the list. Is this possible?

Sorry, but it's not.  The only way to get this to work is to only put the one hour song on your Shuffle.

  • Scheduled Fax - Time off by one hour

If I schedule a fax job on a remote computer and select "Send at" via the scheduler drop-down, it behaves differently in Tiger (10.4.6) than in Panther (10.3.9).
In Panther, it works as I would expect. The default time is the current time, and when you schedule the job, the remote system has the same time as you set.
In Tiger, the default time that comes up is 6:00PM , and when you change this time and schedule the job, the remote computer schedules it for one hour ahead of your time.
I have verified that the time zone settings are the same on all computers, and it does the same whether the shared fax is on a Tiger system or a Panther system.

  • I-Cal -- Appointments one hour off

i-cal on i-phone is advancing all of my scheduled appointments by one hour. The i-cal on my i-mac has the correct appointment time, but the i-phone puts all of my appointments one hour ahead of their scheduled time. I missed two events today until I figured out what was happening.

On your iphone go to settings -> general -> date and time.
Make sure that the date, time and time zone is set correctly.
If so, try turning time zone support off, and correct date and time settings.
Go back to the home screen.
Power the iphone off and back on.
Check to see if the time for events is still an hour off.
    Hope this helps.

  • Why is my email time an hour ahead of actual time and how do I reset it?

When I send an email, the time stamp is one hour ahead of actual time.
How do I reset the time?

You have to reset the time zone of your email account by going in the settings option... or you have to be selected your country, city & postal code correctlly... & this is the issue of the email provider... For more information i suggest you the help of the email provider is th best..
You can check it by comparing to the any other email provider (ex. Gmail or yahoo mail).. if your email provider does not helps, you can still write it here....

  • Meetings input on iPhone off by one hour in iCal due to End of Daylight Sav

    Dear all,
All my appointments input through my iPhone (taking place after Sunday October 26) is off with one hour. When I go to details in iCal it says "Etc/GMT -2". I live in Copenhagen so it should be GMT -1.
On Sunday it is the End of Daylight Savings Time so the imported appointments are "right" compared to the time today. But obviously I would not like to have to correct all appointments next week pushing them one hour ahead....
My regional settings on iPhone and Macbook Pro look right.
    Whats wrong?
    Thank you in advance.
    Anders Rasmussen

Got this from another discussion post and it worked. On your iPhone, drill down Settings>Mail,Contacts, Calendars and drop down to Calendars. My Time Zone was ON and set to an offset of GMT, I turned it OFF and my appointments are at the correct time on my iPhone.

  • Linux runs hotter than Windows?

Right now in Windows, CoreTemp reports that my processor is a little under 50 C, but in Arch lm-sensors says that it stays around the upper 50s, often jumping up into the 60s when I open a new program or play a Youtube video.  Does anyone know why this would be?  CoreTemp reports that the CPU is running at around 1.5 GHz, but in Linux cpufreq-info reports that it's often lower, around 933 MHz.
The processor is an Intel i3 mobile, which can go up to 2.13 GHz.  In a Sony Vaio, just let me know if you need any other hardware specifics.
Any ideas why Linux would be running hotter than Windows?

Alright, thanks for the quick replies.  The reason I want to solve this is because the fan spins way faster in Linux than Windows, and it's gotten annoying how loud it is.
The CPU frequency is the same in Linux and Windows (if not a little slower in Linux).
According to htop there's no significant workload right now.
I don't see why the graphics card would be any hotter in Linux (although I'll check that out now).
The fan is spinning way faster in Linux, so it's definitely not that Linux runs the fan slower.
Do you think it would be safe to assume lm-sensors is just over estimating the thermal junction, and I can force the fans to spin a little slower?
e:  When I run sensors and get a line like this -
    Core 0:       +58.0°C  (high = +80.0°C, crit = +90.0°C)
The crit temperature is TJunction, right?

  • Audio Error : Mavericks and Motu 828x (IOAudioStream[0xffffff8028dc4c00]::clipIfNecessary() - Error: attempting to clip to a position more than one buffer ahead of last clip position)

Hello i've got audio dropouts and clock hiccups with my Motu 828x and Mavericks.
Brand new macbook pro i7 Retina 13".
console display after a hiccup :
IOAudioStream[0xffffff8028dc4c00]::clipIfNecessary() - Error: attempting to clip to a position more than one buffer ahead of last clip position
Motu tells me to downgrade to 10.8
    Any help ?

If MOTU says that its software is incompatible with Mavericks, then it is.
Macs used for sound editing are often overloaded with third-party system modifications such as drivers. If that's the case with yours, you may have to make some hard decisions about what software you really need. You might have to create multiple startup volumes with different sets of software.
