Getting a hp mce remote for touchsmart 300-1125

I want to add a remote control to my HP Touchsmart 300-1125 and am thinking to order the 5070-5600 HP remote (random link: http://cgi.ebay.com/HP-COMPAQ-5070-5600-Media-Center-Remote-Control-/330414657906#ht_805wt_911).
I wonder about two things:
1) The IR Receiver *is* built-in, isn't it? (Device Manager lists a functional eHome IR device)
If in doubt, where should I look for the IR receiver sensor on the case?
2) I think the 5070-5600 remote lists as being made for the older IQ series of Touchsmarts. Will it work with the newer 300 series?
Thanks
Mike

All MCE remotes from the past 8 years send out the same codes. There are a few newer HP specific codes, but 95% of the buttons are exactly the same, grab a 5 year old Gateway MCE remote, it'll work just the same as a new HP one!

  • Can't get Java Desktop System remotely for some users?

I have been using exceed to use XDMCP Query or Broadcast to access my Solaris server desktop. However, whenever I try to log into it as any other user it takes the username and password adn simply disappears and the exceed host selection box pops back up. Does anybody have any experience with this kind of problem??
    Thank You,

I don't know if it helps, but you may want to look into Sun Ray Software (SRS). It's basically X with the warts removed. In fact, the Sun Ray server component runs as an X server on the local machine, then acts as an ALP server to Sun Ray clients. Note that in Sun-Ray language, the concept of client and server are reversed from that of X.
There are dedicated Sun Ray clients (called a Desktop Unit, or DTU) and there are also so-called soft clients which act as a DTU but run under Windows.
SRS is not officially supported yet on Solaris 11, but once it gets installed and configured, you are free of remote login troubles. I run it here in my home and have workstations set all around the house -- I have a rather large tech-savvy family. Sound, multi-head, vpn and many other X headaches are much less of an issue under SRS.
While I am not terribly clear on the licensing, I understand it is basically free for evaluation. It probably costs less per seat than Exceed.

  • How to wipe Touchsmart 300 for resale (don't have Windows discs)

I have a TouchSmart 300 and want to sell it and so need to restore it to factory settings and do a complete wipe of any memory of account passwords, personal data etc. The problem is I can't remember how I set up the pc originally, i.e. whether I just switched it on and it was good to go or if I had install discs and can't find any.
How would I go about achieving this so I can sell it in confidence that all my data has been wiped?

  • Logic Remote for iPad always gets disconnected from paired iMac..?

    Hello,
I recently downloaded GarageBand 10.0.0 and Logic Remote for the iPad, the thing is, it only stays connected when:
    (1) GarageBand does not have any open projects or
    (2) When the project is about to be closed, as the user is being prompted to: "Don't Save", "Cancel" or "Save"
I know Logic Remote connects to the Mac I am using since it tells me to open a project first, then right after I open a project,
    logic remote always tells me
"The connection to <computer name> was lost. Please select the Mac you wish to connect to"
The app then tries to reconnect and reconnect, but nothing happens.
By accident, as I tried to close the project in the Mac, whose snapshot is attached in this posting:
the app then is able to remotely control garageband...
When I cancel the project closing, the problem persists...
This actually renders the app useless...
Have you guys encountered this situation.?

I am experiencing the identical problem as janjerick.
    To reproduce the problem:
    1) On iMac OS 10.9, Launch Garageband 10.0  - choose Empty Project.  Created a "software instrument" track.
    2) On iPad, Launch Logic Remote 1.02  and select the hosting iMac computer.
    3) Connection seemed to come up on the iPad, then prompty goes away.  "The connect to <host> was lost".
    4) The connection doesn't come back... UNTIL I try to dismiss the project on iMac Garageband. The instant I get the "Do you want to save the document" dialog -- Boom!  The Logic Remote connection is established.  And then the Logic Remote seems to be able to control Garageband (while the 'Do you want to save the document' dialog is in the foreground on Garageband.).   But as soon as I try to go back into a project on Garageband, the connection is lost.
Here's the kicker: I also have Logic Pro X on the same iMac and the "Logic Pro" remote app is working PERFECTLY with that.  But as soon as I flip back to Garageband, no go.
    Anyone else?

  • Remote control and MCE remote on Windows

I am having issues with the remote control app on the Tablet S1 and MCE remotes on Windows 7 (64-bit). After learning the buttons for the MCE remote, pressing the same button more than once from the app does not do anything. For example, if I press the Up button the first time, it works fine. But if I press the Up button again, nothing happens. I have verified that the original MCE remote works as expected, and I have also verified that the tablet and the remote control app works with the MCE receiver connected to Ubuntu 11.10. Is anyone else running into this problem? How will the remote control app get updated (via the market or from system update)? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Step 1, With the Windows 7 DVD in your DVD drive    press any key when promped @ 'Press any key to boot from CD / DVD...', as soon as the message is gone, quickly press F8 to show the boot options list. Select Safe Mode and install 7. It will allow the initial stages & file copying.
Step 2, When 7 restarts for the first time, press F8 and select 'safe mode'. A dialog box will appear stating that windows cannot continue in safe mode 'ok' to restart.

    Hi Guys,
I have the solution to your problems and I will go ahead an explain it in detail so that no questions will be raised.
I have struggled to get WINDOWS 7 (32BIT) to run on the Touchsmart 300 PC now for three days (and nights) but I know how you can do it.
The problem lies within the VGA Adapter (Graphics Card) this little buddy has incompatible drivers with the inbuilt functions of the Touchsmart PC in its generic (Windows Preloaded) form. Therefore what you can do is the this.
Step 1: Insert Windows 7 (32Bit) disk and start the setup process and follow it until it hits the problem. (Millisecond of Bluescreen)
Step 2: Once the PC starts booting repeatedly press F8 (I mean it just keep on pressing that button until you can select "Safe Mode")
Step3: Once Windows Setup screen is back it will tell you an error! Which is good. INSTEAD of pressing "OK" (to restart) press SHIFT + F10 (opens the command prompt)
Step4: You should automatically be in \Windows\System32 now enter the following command: CompMgmtLauncher (This is the Device Manager).
(If the default directory is not System32 the navigate to it by entering "cd windows" and "cd system 32" (cd = change directory)
Step5: In the Device Manager (do not worry it will take some time to load) select navigate to "Display Adapters" - "ATI Radeon ..." RIGHT-CLICK on it and choose disable. (To be sure Windows will not have any other troubles you should do the same for all highlighted devices. the once with the yellow triangle)
Step6: Once this is done restart your system and let the install run into the normal mode and finish the install.
Step7: Once Windows starts for the first time. Use the provided ATI Radeon Driver from HP (NOT the original one) from the support download website to install the correct driver.
    Step8: Resart and enjoy!
Hope this helps and let me say to AMD/ATI yopu guys really suck at your one product drivers!
    Cheers and Out.

  • Touchsmart 300 - Install Windows 7 32 bit

Given I have a Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 32 bit DVD and the required license, how can I install Windows 7 Professional 32 bit on a Touchsmart 300 PC?
If I launch the installation booting from  the DVD I get a blue screen (BSOD), I presume for a driver issue.
I am considering using Microsoft AIK to customize the setup, but I need to know which drivers I should include and how to get them.
    Is there any information available?

  • How to do a clean installation of windows 7 on hp touchsmart 300-1000

My hard drive recently crashed in my touchsmart 300. I have purchased a new one but when I insert the installation cd it shortly freezes on starting windows screen right after it installs the windows files for the first time. I have recently read threads about this and saw the safe mode option and disabling the video driver but I can not get to that screen. After I hit any key to boot from dvd i tap F8 and it starts loading windows files, then when it is done it gives me the option to run in safe mode then installs files and freezes again. Can somebody please help me!!!! I am going on over a week straight trying to fix this. Thanks

The title says Windows 7 but the description of what is used to start does not sound right.  According to this PDF for the model posted: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03472361.pdf
Go to page 56  under "Starting system recovery from user-created recovery discs
This section contains the procedure for performing a system recovery from the recovery discs you created"
If Windows 7 is installed, the F8 should get the user into Safe Mode.  Remove the Recovery DVD from the DVD drive before this action is done. What happens now?

  • ITunes windows short cuts outside of application? / MCE remote?

I've always wanted to know if there was a way to get shortcuts for iTunes from anywhere on windows provided that itunes is running? This is possible on a Mac and when using windows media player / media centre & a media centre remote?
Currently, my Media centre remote works with iTunes, but only when it is the active application (as is the case with shortcuts).
What would be ideal is if i could use my Media centre remote to control iTunes from any application.
    Using Win 7 & iTunes 10.5
    Thanks in advance.

Same problem with MCE remote... I have a Windows 7 x64 based computer setup soley for the purpose of media consumption. I use Windows Media Center for HDTV over Digital Cable (via Ceton InfiniTV with a CableCard) and iTunes for music on the PC itself as well as via two AirPort Express devices for whole house music. Every version of iTunes before 10.5 worked great. For reference, I leave iTunes running 24/7 to enable the ability to use the Remote app on my iPhone, this way I can play music from my phone whenever I like and there's no need to go to the media PC to open iTunes first. In any case, as soon as I upgraded to version 10.5 I too had the remote control issue within Media Center and the navigation controls on the remote control ceased to function. I had to close iTunes in order to use the remote control again, which of course defeats the purpose of using it with the Remote app on the iPhone. Thankfully, I was able to locate iTunes version 10.3.1 online for Windows 7 64-bit and after reverting, everything works perfectly again. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Does iTunes 10.5.1 resolve this issue??

  • For ADVC 300 Users

I have read through everything I could find on this board as well as Grass Valley boards but wanted to confirm the setup of the ADVC 300 prior to starting the conversion process.  I will be converting VHS tapes to DV.  I would like to control the ADVC 300 Video/Audio adjustments via the PC and have set the switch (SW1 No 8) to "PC" and will be using the Picture Controller 300 software. Do I also have to change the Video Audio Adjust Mode switch (SW2 No 1) to "Adjust" or is this for manual adjustment via the unit only?
Concerning the Picture Controller 300 software:  Do I need to have an external monitor to view the tapes to make the Video/Audio adjustments prior to capturing in PP or can I use the capture utility in PP to view and still adjust with the 300 software?  I guess I'm just a little confused in the proper method of using the 300 software in conjunction with PP's capture utility.
    Thanks Greg

At least with all of the VHS decks that I have used (have a Panasonic DVR w/ VHS now), there is no control over the VHS deck - it is one-way and that is the signal. I use the deck's remote, and the Capture module on the computer, so I have my mouse in my right hand, and the remote in my left. I click the mouse to begin Capture, and then the remote for Play on the deck, a moment later. There will be a few Frames (those get fewer, with practice) of black at the beginning of the Captured Clip, but those are easily Trimmed in PrPro, or PrE. I happen to have PrPro only on the workstation, and use it mostly. PrE is only on my laptop, along with PrPro.
With the VHS deck, one only has the composite cables out - no input control. This is unlike doing a Capture with a certified miniDV tape camera, which is connected via FW (two-way communication), where one CAN control the camera.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Upgrading graphic card on the TouchSmart 300

    Hey
I know teres was a similar question about this subject, but I was confused about the answer so im trying to get a simpler answer, sorry but I completly negated about computers so I hardly understand about them much
I have a HP TouchSmart 300-1120 and im trying to upgrade my graphic card, but I havent been able to find anyway of doing so.
If theres anyway of doing it or external parts that I need to do so please tell me, cause I have been searching over the web for days and havent been able to find any answer about it.
It would seem that the Touchsmarts are the only computers that you cant upgrade anything about.
Thank you, sorry I cant be more clear on my question but i dont know how else to put it
    San

actually ive upgraded my touchsmart 310 from a dual core to a quad core and doubled the ram and added an aftermarket cooler so if you know what your doing or are willing to risk it its possible but you can possibly destroy your rig

  • HP Touchsmart 300 random black screen

What would cause an HP Touchsmart 300-1223 to randomly display a pure black screen, no audible beeps or other error indicators. It could be anywhere from hours of usage to ten minutes of usage for this to happen. Whenever the screen randomly goes black the keyboard and mouse "lose-power" as in when they are connected you can visibly see the light under the mouse and on the keyboard, but when the screen goes black the lights go out and everything is unresponsive. Possibly an overheating issue that could be fixed by applying new thermal paste? However, the PC doesn't seem to be overheating at all, it's actually running at  a fairly low temperature.  I don't see how it could be bad drivers or anything of that sort, as I'm running a clean fresh install of Windows 7. I've updated the bios, graphics, and touchscren drivers on the HP touchsmart 300-1223 driver page in case those were the cause and this is still happening An extemely easy way to duplicate this happening is to simply run a virtual machince (virtualbox, etc) and when trying to load the virtual machine it will cause the black screen. In case these are at all related.
