Getting a lists selected item itemRenderer's properties

Is there a way to get a Spark List's selectedItem itemRenderer's contentToGlobal x and y and it's height values?
Thanks,
John

Hello Shongrunden;
Thanks again for your help, if you don't mind me asking a couple of more questions...
- With a scrollable Spark List, if a selected item is partially in view, is there a method to get just the visible height of the itemRenderer?
- Also, on my custom paged List component, with a custom itemRenderer and useVirtualLayout = true, after the list data is retrieved a resultHandler is called, in this I then call your getRendererCoordinates function. I also call getRendererCoordinates() in a listChangeHandler.
After the resultHandler calls getRendererCoordinates, even though the dataGroup is showing the proper number of elements, and I set the list.selectedIndex to 0, the renderer variable created in;
var renderer:IVisualElement = list.dataGroup.getElementAt(list.selectedIndex);
the renderer var returns null on the initial display called from the resultHandler, but ... it works perfect on on the listChangeHandler and subsequent page displays. So it seems the renderer is not finished being drawn when getRendererCoordinates is being called from the resultHandler, but subsequent page displays work probably because the renderer has already been drawn. I've tried callLater(getRendererCoordinates) but since nothing else is going on it won't trigger. I did not see an event that can be dispatched from IVisualElement after it is completely drawn that I can use to call getRendererCoordinates.
Any suggestions?
Thanks again for your help and time,
John

• How do I get rid of "Selected Item" window?

Just updated iTunes to version 7.5 and I notice a window below the listings of my playlists (left side of screen), thus reducing the number of playlists that I can see. I would rather that the "now playing/selected item" window not be there so I can see more of my playlists and reduce scrolling. Is it possible? Thanks.

If your CDs are marked as Compilations then you can see them by switching on the compilations feature in the browser. Go to Edit>Preferences>General and check the box "Group Compilations when browsing". When you switch the browser on Compilations will be the first item in the Artist pane, click on it and your compilations will then be listed in the Album pane. If you made these CDs yourself you'll need to mark all the tracks as part of a compilation and give them an album name (you can use the name of your playlist for example). To change the info on multiple items such as all the songs in a playlist, click on the first track you want to add information then while holding down the shift key click on the last track in the list, this will highlight all in between. Right click on the list and choose Get Info, you get a dialogue box asking if you want to update multiple items, click Yes and then the Info tab. Type in the album name and choose Yes from the drop down menu below "Compilation" which is on the bottom row of the info window then click ok and this will ensure the whole selection is identical.

• How do i set spark list selected item's color??

hey guys... so got a little problem... i have a spark list which gets populated from a array collection that looks likda like this
[0] = "name1"
[1] = "name 2"
[2] = "name 3"
when i click on say "name 1" i need the color of "name 1" to change to say red...
and when i click on another item i need that color to stay... red on "name 1"...
oh and... i need to do the color change in actionscript rather than the mxml file...
any ideas???

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is exactly what you are looking for. What I did was created an itemRender for the list and assigned it like so
<s:List dataProvider="{ listDataProvider}" itemRenderer="listItemRenderer"/>
And the listItemRenderer will look some
//Code Begins
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<s:ItemRenderer xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009"
xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"
xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"
focusEnabled="true" >
<fx:Script>
<![CDATA[
var clicked:Boolean=true;
protected function clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void
clicked?labelRender.setStyle("color","0x00FF00"):labelRender.setStyle("color","0xFF0000") ;
clicked=!clicked;
]]>
</fx:Script>
<s:Label  id="labelRender" text="{data}" color="0xFF0000" click="clickHandler(event)"/>
</s:ItemRenderer>
//Code Ends
In the above example the colour toggles on each click. So, you can apply anything. assume you have a property called color in your array collection, you can access it as data.color and then set the text to that color when it is clicked. I hope this helps. Do write back if you have any issues.

• How to access spark list selected items

selected items is some sort of vector? I can't access the items in it, can anyone shed some light on how to acess them? Maybe print them to the screen?

I too am dragging through the documentation with a fine toothed comb and am at a loss of how to get something as simple (and intiutive) as myList.items.
Maybe I'm overthinking it, but if I have a custom item renderer with a checkbox in it and when the user clicks the checkbox and it's selected state changes, I'd like to let the List that contains the List Item know of it... not that the item was messed with, but more to the point, that the checkbox was messed with and which item it was a member of...
Right now I can't even figure out how to do something as rediculously simple as creating a creationComplete handler that iterates through the list items and calls a function in them to set a reference to itself that the list item can reference.

• Get artboard of selected item

I have script where I select items on multiple artboard but I can't seem to get get active art board of the selected item. Is this possible?
each artboard has a text item and I would like them in the same position on each of their own artboards that they are already one. right now it adjusts them all to one artboard. here is what I have so far
doc = app.activeDocument;
for(i = 0; i < selection.length; i++){
var firstItemPosition = doc.selection[0].position;
doc.selection[i].position = firstItemPosition;
var activeArtboardIndex = doc.artboards.getActiveArtboardIndex();
alert(activeArtboardIndex);

hmm it seems it doesn't work the way that I thought it might. It still always positions items based on first artboard even when you set:
idoc.artboards.setActiveArtboardIndex(i)
I tried to implement it like this, any idea what I might be doing wrong?
// return each selected item's artboard index
// carlos canto 09/28/2013
// http://forums.adobe.com/message/5721205?tstart=0#5721205
var idoc = app.activeDocument;
app.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevel.DONTDISPLAYALERTS;
var selec = idoc.selection;
var firstItemPosition = selec[0].position;
var sel = [];
for(i = 0; i < selec.length; i++)
sel.push(selec[i]);
for(j = 0; j < sel.length; j++) {
idoc.selection = null;
alert('selection ' + j + objectArboardIindex (sel[j]));
for(j = 0; j < sel.length; j++)
sel[j].selected = true;
app.userInteractionLevel = UserInteractionLevel.DISPLAYALERTS;
function objectArboardIindex (obj) {
var idoc = app.activeDocument;
for(i=0; i<idoc.artboards.length; i++) {
idoc.artboards.setActiveArtboardIndex(i); // activate each artboard
idoc.selectObjectsOnActiveArtboard(); // select all in artboard
if (obj.selected) {
obj.position = firstItemPosition;
return ' is in Artboard ' + idoc.artboards.getActiveArtboardIndex();
idoc.selection = null;
return ' is outside artboard(s)';

• Getting selected item from combobox itemrenderer and storing in object

Hi Guys,
Can anyone help me in this regard. Its very urgent.
I have a combo box itemrenderer in datagrid column. I want to get the user selected item from the dropdown of the row(s) (User may select values from combo box from multiple rows of datagrid) and corressponding values of all other columns of the rows and store it in an object . Then pass this object to database to update only those rows that user has changed.
I am able to get the selected item from combo box using "event.currentTarget.selectedItem" and corressponding values of all other columns of the rows using "valueSelect.ID", etc where valueSelect is object which contains data for datagrid. But am stuck up with, how to store the selected item value of the combobox and corressponding values of all other columns of the rows into an Object ?.
Can anybody help me with sample to store selected item from combobox and its corressponding values of all other columns into an object which i can send to db...?
Kindly help me in this regard.
Thanks,
Anand.

Hi!
Are you using a collection of VO or DTO as the dataprovider of the combobox component?
If so, have you created some attribute there to control the user's selection in the combobox?
For instance:
private var selected:Boolean = false;
If your solution fits this approach, you may create a new collection that contains just the objects that were selected by the user, it means you can loop through the datagrid's dataprovider and only insert in this new collection those objects that have the attribute "selected" set to true.
For instance:
private function getSelectedRecords(datagridDataProvider:ArrayCollection):ArrayCollection
var newCollection:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection();
for each (var item:Object in datagridDataProvider)
if (item.selected)
newCollection.addItem(item)
return newCollection;
Afterwards, you may serialize this new collection with your back-end.
Hope it helps you!
Cheers,
@Pablo_Souza

• How can I get a list of all items (clips/stills) I've used in a project?

I am creating a sequence that contains lots of items (both short clips and stills) and it's getting difficult to remember if I've already used an item already. Is there a way to get a list of items I've already used or to mark an item once I've used it? Thanks.

In addition to ticking stuff off as you go along have a play with edit > find. I've not looked at this in any great depth, but it seems you can search for used/unused media. Might be worth a look at.

• List of items waiting in the SAP connect component in SOST transction

Hi All,
In SOST transction we can see the list of items waiting in the SAP connect component
I want to get this list of items
Could you please tell me how I can get this list?
Thanks in Advance
Snehal

Hi All,
Thanks for your reply.
The tables SOSC and SOOD are used to find the list of waiting objects to send.
My problem is , I have to delete some specific entries from this list through code so that these entries will not send to approver.
Is it sufficient to delete entry of seletced objtects from table SOSC?
Also could you please tell me about other tables like SOST?
Thanks in Advance

• How do I get the list index for the selected list item

How can I obtain the list index for the currently selected
element in a list item? I'm trying to move the label and value
from on list box to another by using the add_list_element built-
in and it requires the list index.
Thanks for your help...

Hi,
You can`t get the Index for the selected item..
you can get the Value of then Tlist using :Block.ListName .
maybe theis code will help you..
PROCEDURE pr_PasarElementos(ls_Origen           varchar2,                    ls_destino          varchar2,          cValor                    varchar2 default null) IS
nCont_Orig     number := 0;
nCont_Dest     number := 0;
begin
nCont_Orig := GET_LIST_ELEMENT_COUNT(ls_Origen);          nCont_Dest := GET_LIST_ELEMENT_COUNT(ls_destino);
Add_List_Element(ls_destino,nCont_Dest+1,cValor,cValor);
for rec_Orig in 1..nCont_Orig loop
if GET_LIST_ELEMENT_VALUE(ls_Origen,rec_Orig) = cValor then
delete_list_element(ls_Origen,rec_Orig);
end if;
end loop;
end;
you can call the procedure with :
pr_pasarElementos('control.ls_activos','control.ls_inactivos',:CONTROL.ls_activos);
here I`m working with the Value equal to the Label... you would need to look for the Label of the origin (ls_Origen) list using the Value (cValor) you already have.
I hope this help you.

• Using checkboxes to select items in a Spark DataGroup/List?

I have a DataGroup from Catalyst, laid out like a tile list:
I'd like to do something a bit different, in that I'd like to allow people to multi-select items in the list using those checkboxes instead of the usual command/control-click.
The checkbox, label and image are in the itemRenderer. Is there an easy way that I can have that checkbox toggle the selected state of its list item?

Hi,
Using the checkbox as a selection is easy enough as all you have to do is add a change event to the checkbox in the renderer and then in the event
selected=mycheckbox.selected;
The fun is how to handle the list click event from the checkbox you can stop propagation but if the item is clicked it will reset the selected indices.
There is a few ways to handle this
when processing the list don't use the selected indices just use the checkbox value to determine whats selected
disable the listbox click event so items have to be selected with the checkbox
or the most complex lots of overriding so that click acts like a ctrl/click and the checkbox/itemclick can toggle each other.

• Get Calendar List Item GUID

I downloaded code for a reservation event receiver from here:
http://blog.sharepointsydney.com.au/post/Setting-up-multiple-calendars-for-meeting-room-bookings-prevent-double-booking.aspx
However, on the ItemUpdating it throws an "Object Reference Not Set to an Instance of an Object" error. By commenting out parts of the code and re-deploying I have narrowed the issue down to the line that gets the item's GUID:
string guid_internal = collItems.List.Fields["GUID"].InternalName;
When I modify it to something like "UniqueId" I get the "Value does not fall within expected range" error. Is there a better way to obtain the GUID of the calendar list item - or am I missing something? Full code below:
using System;
using Microsoft.SharePoint;
namespace Webcoda.WSS.Calendar.Events

Hi there,
Please verify the internal name of column which you have hardcoded in the code i.e
string start_internal = collItems.List.Fields["Start Time"].InternalName;
string end_internal = collItems.List.Fields["End Time"].InternalName;
I have used the Room reservation template from MSDN which has provided by MS under the code name of "Fantastic 40" along with below James Finn article.
http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/30983/SharePoint-Reservations
It worked for me for reservation.

• Adding an item to a List when clicking a WebPart Properties 'OK' button

Hi all,
I wonder if someone can help me. Im new to SharePoint Programming but learning slowly.
I have a superb Web Part downloaded from Codeplex which essentially is a Countdown Timer in jQuery. (spCountdown) The code itself works perfectly however I want to tweak it, in what I thought would be a relatively easy thing to do.
In the Web Part properties of the solution, there is a textbox where you enter the Date/Time which you wish to set the countdown timer. When I click 'OK' to submit the WebPart, I would like the date value in the textbox to be added to a List as a new List
item. I've got the code to add the List item (or what im think is the correct code) but what I cant do is get the function to execute when the WebPart 'OK' button is clicked.
Now, I have downloaded the source code which is available but I cant fathom how to hook the 'Update List Item' code onto the onclick event of the button (as I cant find an onclick event!). Any help to advise me what to do would be appreciated.
My code to add the date to the new List:
// create item in Deadline Configuration List
using (SPSite oSiteCollection = new SPSite(SPContext.Current.Site.Url))
using (SPWeb oWeb = oSiteCollection.OpenWeb())
SPList oList = oWeb.Lists["DLConfig"];
SPListItem oListItem = oList.Items.Add();
oListItem["Title"] = "Deadline Date";
oListItem["TaskDueDate"] = new DateTime(WebPart.TargetDate.Year, WebPart.TargetDate.Month, WebPart.TargetDate.Day);
oWeb.AllowUnsafeUpdates = true;

Hi,
Please refer below link regarding web part custom properties,
I think you need to write code under ApplyChanges() Method.I am not sure. Just try it once.

• Get Selected Items from ListBox

Hi,
How do I get the Selected items of a List in Flex.
I am using a multi-select List.
Thx

Never mind..I got it.
it as simple as that:
Alert.show (lst.selectedItem.fieldname);
;)

• How to get the selected items from listbox

Regarding listbox i have two questions
1) I want to get the selected items as per the order in which ihave selected.Presently i'm getting in the ascending order.For example after selcting the 1,2,6 if i select 3 then its giving 1,2,3,6.But i want it in the order 1,2,6,3
2)I want to select items from a single list box to many other listboxes.(ie) my first selection should goto first,second one to the second listbox and like this.How should i write the logic.
please give me a suggestion.

In order to have the selected items line up in accordance to the selection order, please do it one at a time. (That's the limit for that VI)
If you need more than that (i.e. to regconize which item clicked first and which one comes later), you may have to figure it out ya
Wish you good luck. Perhaps, someone else has a already made vi.
Cheers!
