Getting airport to stop sending?

So, I need to access my airport's settings, but in order to do this, I need to go into system preferences, and hit the stop button. The problem is that the stop button doesn't actually do anything. It blinks blue, then nothing happens. What can I do?

I have no experience of Comcast but I can make a few
comments.
When you say that in your Comcast location you have
an IP address, router and subnet showing is this
referring to when you have a direct connection or
when you had it setup through the Airport?
The thing to look at with the Airport in the setup
would be on the Internet tab of the airport config as
shown in the Airport Admin Utility to make sure you
have a IP address, subnet mask, router and DNS
server. These I would expect to be similar to those
that appear in your net prefs for when you have your
direct ethernet connection to the cable modem (well
in fact they should be identical except for you might
have a different IP address.)
Do you have the Airport setup to use the same
connection method to your ISP as you have setup on
your G4 when you have the direct ethernet
connection.
In network prefs I would suggest setting up a new
Location where just the Airport interface is enabled
to avoid any confusion about which interface the
computer tries to use.

I tried this and it doesn't work. I don't get a DNS server even with my normal connection through Comcast's modem. I removed all locations except Comcast. I did try a new location AirPort Reload and it still didn't work. I know it will work, but I'm doing something wrong either in the Network Connection or in the settings in AirPort Admin. Any more ideas? I'd certainly appreciate any and all. Just forget about Comcast and review the settings I need to do, and steps with the cable, resetting the airport, etc. Thank you so much. Roz

AirPort Extreme stops sending wifi signal

I have an AirPort Extreme. It quite frequently (like 2x per month) just stops sending a wifi signal. The light on the unit is green. As soon as run it through a power cycle it starts working again. This has been going on for about 6 months but it's really starting to get frustrating.

What model is the AE? Actual model number if flat.. otherwise just say tall.. !!
How does it fit into the network? Is it bridge or router or extend wireless?? You need to give some info.. no info .. we are guessing...more than usual.
Fix.. hmm... this is sort of feature now.. self-securing wireless.. it turns off to prevent access.
Fix by replacement..
Does it drop out on all devices or just your Mac?? If you run Yosemite.. the cause might be there.

How do I get Apple to stop sending me email?

I know this isn't the right forum for this question, but I didn't see one that seemed relevant.
My first question is regarding these discussion boards. I posted a question here (in the Using iPod Shuffle area) and since then, I am getting an email every time somebody posts to this area.
The email has instructions on how to stop this from happening, they tell you to log in, go to "My Subscriptions", and in the Subscribed Categories area, select the delete option. However in the Subscribed Categories area, it shows zero subscribed categories, and there is no delete option.
Has anybody else run into this and found a way to fix it?
Second, since I am vaguely on the topic anyway, maybe somebody will know this one.
Since I purchased something from the iTunes music store, I have been getting ads by email from them. I told them not to send me ads at the time, but they are sending them anyway. I have replied back to the emails begging them to stop sending me ads, but they ignore this.
I really want to keep my email account as spam-free as possible.
Has anybody else run into this and figured out how to make them stop?

Look in "My Settings" to find the .... setting ... which prevents your from automatically subscribing to each one you either originate or respond to.

One way to manage/change your contact preferences is to log into myinfo.apple.com and change whatever you want or need to in there. If there are separate things which come from ITMS that aren't controlled from that page, and you can't find it discussed in the iTunes help or support pages or in its own menus somewhere, then you really should be asking in the ITMS forums instead of the iPod Shuffle one.

Airport Express stops sending emails suddenly

Hi. I'm using airport express 802.11g, and mac mail (OSX 10.7.4).
Last week it just stops sending emails from one of the server providers i use.
I'd already tried everything...reseting, creating new mail accounts, changing, repairing permissions, restarts and so on...
what I find out:
1. if I plug the ethernet cable, it works
2. when using mail over wifi/airport, the 'send' works for @hotmail, @gmail...but doesn't work for my other server emails
3. even thou, if I try to check emails using my server webmail, it works!
4, receiving emails works perfect
5. even when trying the wifi over my iphone, it doesn't send either.

problem: send mail, over wifi, just with my 'dreamhost' server mails
weird!
but it's been days I've been trying to find out what is going on, and no clue!
I hope someone could help me!

download iStumbler (does not work on 10.6) or AirRadar (it has a trial period) and note the channels other networks in your vicinity are broadcasting on. change the channel(s) of your network as far away as possible from those.

How do I get Messages to stop sending from my email address instead of my phone number?

I've had several people tell me that texts I've sent from my iPhone have been showing up as <myemailadd>@mac.com instead of my phone number. It started doing that under iOS7. I don't want my email address sent with my phone-originated texts. I don't want my email address broadcast to people that shouldn't have it.
So what do I need to change to make sure that phone texts originate from my phone number, home texts show my email address, and both are viewable on both my iPhone and iMac?

I think its fixed. I had to sign iMessages in on my Apple ID, but then deselect my email addresses to make it behave the way it should. Now if I could get iMessage to only send response alerts to the last device I used, instead of late night texts going to every device I own in the house and waking everyone up.
For some reason, the free iCloud address I automatically received (when Apple was trying to force people to leave Mac.com) is "hardwired" into iMessage. People were also getting texts from that address even though I was on my phone. I tried to delete it but iOS tells me I can't. I don't use that address, I won't ever use it, too bad I can't make it go away.

How do I get Verizon to stop sending me FOUR bill envelopes every month?

We have tried, without success, over the last 9 months, to stop Verizon from using so many trees to send us redundant bills in four separate billing envelopes each and every month. The customer service reps keep assuring us that this will be taken care of and we'll only get one bill in one envelope. They tell us it will take up to two billing cycles for this to take effect -- we have been told this THREE times now!! It's just extremely frustrating to try and enact an eco-friendly change in their billing behaviors and be totally ignored. It's also quite annoying that the customer service reps keep telling us that they'll CHANGE this behavior and it never changes. Again, four envelopes (only one of which we need to pay our bill) arrived in the mail yesterday, three billing cycles after the last time one of Verizon's employees told us this wouldn't happen. Have any other customers tried (in vain) to get this rectified?
I also don't appreciate that the money I send Verizon is being used to churn out additional paper that is totally unnecessary plus they get to pay the postage on these redundant envelopes going through the mail as well. It's madness!!

I was just about to say the same thing tns. I just went paperless myself and that's the simplest. The paper bill is just a duplicate anyway of your bill that you can view on line.

it is not going to my address book because a lot of these people are not in there. it is going to people that i emailed from years ago....and it IS connected to either my me.com email or a cox.net email - these are both connected. i'll try the password change on both of these mail accounts and see if that works. a lot of these people are getting three and four emails every day....

Try the following:
Go to Settings > Messages > iMessages > disable
Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
let it do it's thing and reset.
Then go to Settings > Messages > iMessages > enable
You'll then have to go back to your Wifi and re-enter your router credentials.

Unfortunately, a solid amber is light is not a good sign.
Try a complete Factory Default Reset on the Time Capsule using the steps below. This procedure will not affect any of the data that you have stored on the internal hard drive.
Power off the Time Capsule for 15-20 minutes or longer
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule first, and keep holding for an additional 9-10 seconds while you simultaneously plug the power back in to the Time Capsule
Release the reset button after the 9-10 hold period and allow a full minute for the Time Capsule to restart
The Time Capsule light should normally stay solid amber for about 30 seconds and then change to a slow, blinking amber light, indicating that the Time Capsule has been reset and it can now be reconfigured.
If you try the Factory Default Reset a few times and the light stays solid amber, unfortunately the hard drive has failed, or there is an internal power supply issue with the Time Capsule.
You should take the Time Capsule to an Apple Store.....if you have one in your area.....or contact Apple Support directly to discuss your options.

My IPhone 5s has stopped sending e-mails suddenly.

Check first whether the you can send emails using web (Either on Safari App or try it on a computer)
If it doesn't work in webmail ,there might be an issue with the email account.
If its working , you can try adding the account to outlook on your computer and then sync the Email settings thru iTunes.
If its a windows computer which you are using you'll get Info tab in your device page.
Click on Info and then select Sync Mail and then Apply.
