Getting audio to play from powerbook to tv

see we are trying to get a powerbook to play a dvd from the powerbook to a tv and so far so good except the audio for said dvd will not go from the powerbook to the tv. we were using that tiny s-video cable they give and rca cords and we even tried one headphone jack to rca cord (without the video extention) and still nothing. we need help, does anyone have an answer?
powerbook g4 titanium   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I do it with my Titanium a lot and mine has always worked. The only thing I can think of for the audio is do you plug it into the headphone jack on the left side by the pcmcia slot? The port on the back by the s-video port is audio in.
Then go to System Preferences and open the Sound pane. When I plug a headphone jack to rca cord into the plug on the left, output will change from internal speakers to headphones.

How can I get audio to play from my TV when using hdmi cable?  Video looks great, just no sound.
I've tried plugging the hdmi into the TV directly and the receiver.
I get video every time.  HBO to Go , Xfinity, ABC, Youtube, etc...
    just no audio.  Any suggestions?
I've tried starting the apps then plugging in the hdmi cable.
I never tried this before I upgraded to IOS 5.

    Claudiamil-
I had not tried it with mine since upgrading to iOS 5, so I just did.  I'm using a small Vizio HDTV.  I did not try YouTube, but did try several videos and musical numbers.  In all cases there was sound, including stereo when the source had it.
I assume you are getting sound from the iPad when the adapter is not connected, so the volume is not turned down.  Dah*veed's suggestion to reset may be what you need.

    What is your iTunes version?
If iTunes 11, have you checked the "Up Next" list? If it is not empty, try if clearing "UP Next" will help:

First, back up all data and then uninstall "DivX" according to the developer's instructions.

Thanks I read through that. I still cant determine what exacty my issue is.
Is it audio must be played only on a click handler?
Is it that i must install quick tiem on my ipad?
So i have to modify code that flash outputs for me to get audio to play on an Ipad? That doesnt seem correct? It should just function.

  • Can't get audio or video from youtube

Cant get  audio or vide from yhoutube

    Hi,
Download and install Firefox then run this browser and download the latest installer for Flash Player and save it to your Desktop.  Next, close all browsers, open windows Control Panel, open Programs and Features and uninstall Flash Player if it is showing here.  When done, restart the notebook.  Now double click the installer on your Desktop to reinstall Flash Player.
See if Firefox will display your video correctly.  You can also try launching IE and click on the installer for Flash Player which should prompt you to install the ActiveX plugin for flash player.  Close IE after doing this and the re-launch and see if this will now display the video correctly.

  • FCP Video files burn to DVD, Only gets audio when played

    Hi,
I know this has been asked many times, but, it's late at night and I'm looking for a quick answer please.
I burnt ideo clips, which I have exported thru FCP, and burn them straight onto a DVD thru the Finder.
The person who got the DVD said he only gets audio from the clips, so, he can't see them.
Have many ideas of what I should do, but, what is the most common solution to this problem?

#48 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD or HDV or ProRes on my computer.
Shane's Stock Answer #48 - Cannot view DVCPRO HD, HDV or ProRes QT files on your computer.
The DVCPRO HD, HDV and ProRes codecs only comes with FCP. If your computer does not have FCP installed, it cannot view these quicktime files. It doesn't matter if it is a Mac or PC, without FCP installed, you cannot view these files.
If you need to view ProRes material, you can download the ProRes decoder (mac and windows compatible) for ProRes
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forWindows.
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/AppleProRes_QuickTime_Decoder_1_0_forMac
If your footage was captured as DVCRO HD you can buy the Calibrated DVCPRO HD decoder:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QDVCProHD.asp
HDV, XDCAM? Calibrated has you covered too:
    http://www.calibratedsoftware.com/QXD.asp
If you have MXF files from a P2 camera and you need to view the footage on a computer without FCP, you can download P2CMS from Panasonic:
    http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/p2-hd/downloads-and-updates.asp
Or you need the other party to compress the footage into a format your computer can play, like H.264.

  • Getting audio to play through computer speakers

    Hi
Ive got an external NSTC monitor and im trying to get the sound to match up with the video on it. If i do audio follows video, then the sound comes out of the monitor which sounds like crap because it has bad speakers. If i make the audio come out of my computer speakers, then it is out of sync with the video on the external monitor. i guess i could get a bunch of cords from radio shack and get a splitter and plug the computer and the audio into my computer speakers, but i was wondering if there was a way within final cut to get the audio to play in sync but not through the external monitor's audio.

well i do have good speakers<<</div>
Good speakers and good monitors for editing work usually aren't the same thing. In post work, either video or audio, the audio monitors need to have a flat response; they should not color the sound in any way. That's the only way you know what the true audio will sound like.
Most speakers, including computer speakers do color the sound; some quite a bit, especially in the low end.
Nearfield monitors do provide a flat response and are designed for use in recording studios and edit suites for critical listening. When working in FCP, the ideal setup is to ALWAYS monitor your audio and video through the same path out from the computer, converted to analog and then the video going to an properly calibrated external TV monitor and the audio going to the audio monitors.

  • Getting videos to play from beginning, everytime?

    Hello all,
I have a bunch of music videos on my Ipod classic, 160G and one of the most annoying things about it is that it plays videos from where i left off. I want the music video to play from the beginning every single time i get to it. I put my ipod in a dock so i am away from it and it is really annoying when i get to listen to the last third of a song. Is that possible to get the classic to do this? If not, then what is apple thinking? When can i expect to have this feature, if ever?

In iTunes, select the individual video and click on *File/Get Info/Options* and uncheck the box marked *Remember playback position* .
If you select several videos at once and click on *File/Get Info* , there will be a drop-down menu at the bottom of the *Multiple Item Information* dialogue that is called *Remember Position* . Change the setting to No (and a tick will appear in the box beside it).
Both these methods will give you what you want. You will probably find that whoever created the video chose to remember playback position, not Apple. Don't forget, if you are watching a long video or listening to an audio Podcast, the remember playback position can be very useful.

  • How to get audio to tv from 4 year old macbook pro

I have a 4 year old macbook pro, i am trying to view it on my samsung tv, i can get video thru the mini port adapter and hdmi cable, but i cant get audio?

If you Macbook Pro is a 2009 model the mini display port does not carry audio. You must use a separate audio cable from your computer's audio out to your TV's audio in.

  • Can I get audio to play til the end, even if I turn the page?

I know how to add a quicktime audio file, but once you turn to the next page, the audio file stops. Is there a way to set the audio to play til the end regardless of how many pages you turn? Or would I have to split up the audio and have the user play it on each page they turn to?
Are there any options for the audio player interface? Or would I have to resort to using a widget?

I've just bought the enhanced edition of The Story of Naxos, and was intrigued to see that the embedded audio files do continue playing after the page has been turned.  So it's clearly something that iBooks itself is capable of handling, even if iBooks Author doesn't cater for it - and I've also submitted a feature request pointing this out.
And with regard to the "superfluous" comment, it depends entirely on the nature of the project.  The one I've postponed until this feature is introduced involves recordings of Schubert songs that are supposed to be playable over the original German lyrics, an English translation, a musicological analysis and a facsimile of the score - the idea being that you can listen to the complete song while exploring various aspects of it.  But it's impossible to fit all this material onto one page, and even reading it in portrait mode doesn't work, as the music stops playing as soon as the embedded images from the score appear.

  • I want to get audio only file from DVD-R. Please help.

I hope this is the right place to ask.
I have just completed copying a radio play from VHS to DVD-R.
(Recorded off air from high quality BBC FM onto VHS sound only in 1993)
The copy is a success inasmuch as I now have the high quality copy I desire and I can play it (via the DVD player) through the hi-fi with TV turned off.
However, I want to go further and load the DVD-R into my iMac and make an Audio only file of the soundtrack for use on my iPod for instance.
I have no idea if this is possible with the standard iDVD (or other software) on my iMac or how to even start.
I guess it would be equivalent to loading a standard DVD movie and making a file of just the soundtrack.
    Has anyone any ideas please?
    Thankyou.

If you used your computer as part of the VHS to DVD process, then you'll have a digital audio file that we can find, but I'm guessing you used a VHS to DVD standalone recorder. If so, you can use some free software called MPEG Streamclip:
    - insert your DVD, and Quit from the DVD Player if it starts automatically.
    - start MPEG Streamclip and open the DVD; then open the Video TS folder and open the first of the .VOB files (repeat this step until you find the file you're interested in).
    - use the Export to AIFF option and you'll have the audio file.
    - you'll be able to bring this file into iTunes, burn it to CD, etc.
