Getting built-in document properties

Help me, please! I need to get built-in properties (title, keywords, author, ...) from uploaded document (.doc, .xsl, .pdf) for creating 'file item' and fill its properties automatically.
Did anybody does this?
Is the best way to solve this problem?
May I use portal API or Oracle Text API for developing?
Reply, please!

hi alexander,
to programatically get and set document meta-data like author, text, description, etc. we provide the Content Management API's which are available here:
http://portalstudio.oracle.com/pls/ops/docs/FOLDER/COMMUNITY/PDK/plsql/doc/pldoc_9026/wwsbr_api.html
use the view WWSBR_ALL_ITEMS which is located in the portal schema to query the item attributes.
these PL/SQL API's do exactly what you are planning to do.
regards,
christian

  • Acrobat Pro 9.5.1 Document Properties glitch

    Hi,
    When trying to view the document properties in Acrobat Pro 9.5.1 I get the below screenshot. The box is tiny and so small nothing can be viewed. I have to press ESC to close the window. I can only use ALT+SPACE to move  it also.
    PC config:
    Generic Dell Crap Vostro 200.
    Windows XP SP3
    CS4 DP - only Acrobat, Distiller, Bridge, Illustrator and Photoshop, no InDesign.
    CS5.5 DS - Everything but Acrobat X as it isn't compatible with our plugins and add-ons.
    All Adobe software is updated, as is the windows OS. AV is AVG Business.

    Yes, I've tried multiple repairs.
    Here is my sysinfo file if it helps. I noticved that some of the plugins were doubled up in their own folder and the plugin fodler, so I removed the apis from the plugin folder...

  • Why can't I fill in a PDF document? Document properties say it is allowed

    I have just upgraded to Adobe Reader 9.5.1. Using MiniMac OS 10.4.11, Firefox 3.6.28.  I cannot fill in a PDF Document even though the Document Properties indicate it is allowed.

    In a nutshell, just because security properties say that filling of form fields is allowed, that does not mean that the creator of the file has actually added those fields.
    Normally if the form is fillable, you would get a notification bar at the top of the Reader window. It is possible you have that option turned off so select the hand tool and mouse over a field that you think should be fillable. If the hand turns into an i-beam, click in the filed and start typing. If it doesn't, it's not fillable.

  • Issue with Document Properties/Security

    I used adobe 8 proffesional to create a pdf form that I want digitally signed.
    When I preview, I am able to add a digital signature and Document Properties/Security it indicates signature allowed.
    When I open the document in Adobe Reader.  I cannot sign.
    Document Properties/Security state Signing:  not allowed.   We are not using Echo.  Help!

    Per John T. Smith's comments, I will Move your post to the Adobe Acrobat Forum, where you will likely get directly help.
    Your links, and any e-mail subscriptions will follow.

  • How to get built.xml for ear file in jdeveloper?

    Hi,
    I am using JDeveloper to create EAR file for my ADF Fusion Application. I think Jdeveloper use ant to create EAR file. I know how to get built.xml for my war file.
    Can anyone tell how to get that built.xml that create EAR file in Jdeveloper.?

    This blog explains:
    http://adfhowto.blogspot.com/2011/03/ojdeploy-deploying-adf-application-from.html
    Based on the blog, I simply copied an existing project "deploy" target definition and augmented the project's build.xml with a new target "deployApp" that omits the Project parameter to ojdeploy. This causes ojdeploy to build the workspace-level deploy profile instead. I also omitted the output directory parameter (default is app's /deploy folder) and assume that there is only one application deployment profile (i.e. the default for profile parameter is the '*' wildcard). You can augment the build.properties file if you need to get fancier than that.
    <target name="deployApp" description="Deploy Complete YourFoo Application"
    depends="init">
    <taskdef name="ojdeploy"
    classname="oracle.jdeveloper.deploy.ant.OJDeployAntTask"
    uri="oraclelib:OJDeployAntTask"
    classpath="${oracle.jdeveloper.ant.library}"/>
    <ora:ojdeploy xmlns:ora="oraclelib:OJDeployAntTask"
    executable="${oracle.jdeveloper.ojdeploy.path}"
    ora:buildscript="${oracle.jdeveloper.deploy.dir}/ojdeploy-build.xml"
    ora:statuslog="${oracle.jdeveloper.deploy.dir}/ojdeploy-statuslog.xml">
    <ora:deploy>
    <ora:parameter name="workspace"
    value="${oracle.jdeveloper.workspace.path}"/>
    <ora:parameter name="profile"
    value="${oracle.jdeveloper.deploy.profile.name}"/>
    <ora:parameter name="nocompile" value="true"/>
    </ora:deploy>
    </ora:ojdeploy>
    </target>

  • Linking Custom Document Properties to SharePoint

    We currently have a Microsoft Office Add-in that, among other things, reads and writes Custom Document Properties. Our add-in includes a user-dialogue through which these values are captured and subsequently displayed within the document.
    We now have a requirement to integrate this functionality with SharePoint 2010. In particular, we want our Office custom document properties to be co-ordinated with equivalent SharePoint server properties (i.e. site columns in Document Libraries) so that,
    when a given SharePoint property value is changed the equivalent custom document property is also changed.
    Users must be able to set the properties in either SharePoint or in an Office App (Word for example) and the changes be reflected in both places.
    Our solution must work with the desktop versions of Office 2010/13 and the non-Office365 versions of SharePoint 2010/13.
    During our initial prototyping we have looked at a number of possible approaches (including Document Property Promotion and Demotion) but are still not sure which appropriate to use.
    With regard to Document Property Promotion and Demotion for example, we found that, if we create a document outside SharePoint, then invoke our add-in to set document properties, then upload the document to SharePoint; the SharePoint properties and the
    Office Custom Document Properties are initially in step, any subsequent changes cause problems.
    If we now change the SharePoint properties by editing them in SharePoint and then open the document in Word, the Custom Document Properties are unchanged. Similarly, any change we make in Word is not reflected in the
    SharePoint properties when the document is saved back to the SharePoint library.
    Our properties are all of type string in Word and type Choice in SharePoint.
    For various reasons, our solution must not depend in any way on Office templates.
    We would like to know what would be the recommended approach to implementing this functionality.
    Below provides a basic diagram of our requirement:

    Hi,
    According to your description, you might want to sync the custom document properties between document and SharePoint Library.
    A solution can be like this: We can add an Event Receiver to this library, it will be triggered when there is a file is checked in or the item of list is updated, then we can
    read/write the specific document properties and sync between document and SharePoint Library.
    The whole scenario would be like this: When a document is uploaded and checked in, the method put in the Event Receiver will be triggered and update the related columns of library.
    When we updated these columns in library, we can capture the ItemUpdated event and update the corresponding properties of this document.
    Here is a step by step sample on creating a simple Item added event receiver:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff398052.aspx
    More information on Event Receiver for your reference:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff408183(v=office.14).aspx
    For about how to update the custom properties of an Office Document, it is recommended you post another question to the Microsoft Office for Developers forum, you will get more
    help and confirmed answers from there.

  • Document properties

    Hi
    I am creating a form in Livecycle and then when viewing in Acrobat Pro the document properties options are all greyed out.  This is frustrating as I have not been able to set the document to open in full view and add metadata there.  I am sure that I have had this working before as one of my documents does open in full view.  I have now tried a few other livecyle examsples and getting the same problem.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks
    Darren

    Hi Darren,
    XFA forms developed in LC are completely different animals compared to AcroForms (Acrobat forms) or normal PDF documents.
    The XFA form is "wrapped" in a PDF package so that Acrobat can open it. A lot of the normal Acrobat functionality is not available in an XFA form. For example you can add comments, insert video, or change the properties. Have a quick scan of the menu items in a LC form that is opened in Acrobat.
    You could change the default magnification setting in the Acrobat preferences and that should apply to your LC forms when opened.
    That's the best way I can explain it. Other than the previous post I do not know of any other work around. Someone else may have a better solution.
    Good luck,
    Niall

    Hi,
    What a lot of code! I think this is a lot easier than that.
    You need to use the WSDL2Java command. See tutorials.
    This will find a wsdl file and create the java files necessary.
    You then need to compile tese java files
    You also nned a client (more of that another day/night.
    Compile this also

  • How Do I Display Custom Document Properties On the Info - Properties Page

    Hi,
    I want to create a template using Microsoft Word 2010 that has fields similar to the Standard Document Property "Title" that can be used as a fillable form that repeats data throughout the document.  I need a custom document property field
    that you can fill out on the title page and will simultaneously change the same field that is in the header, footer, and file -> info -> properties page.
    For example, I want to create a document property field called "Product ID #" that shows the title of the property on the file -> info -> properties page as "Product ID #" and the content to show up as the information
    a user entered into the field on the first page.
    Right now I have a standard document property that I am using as a field on the front page for the Title which has user defined content on the front page.  This field has default content I set up to be "Product Specification Template".
    I inserted this field by using quick parts.  I want to be able to create a field that behaves like this called "Product ID #".  I understand you can create custom form fields that repeat using legacy fields, but I need a way for them
    to show changes instantly after you click away from the field, without having to "update field" where necessary.
    Anyone have any idea how to create custom document properties like this? Or even how to rename standard properties such as "Status" or "Subject"?
    Thanks

    What you're asking can't all be done without a macro. You can easily enough get body content to show in the header & footer via the judicious use of Styles and STYLEREF fields (and the changes are dynamic), but getting that info into the custom
    document property would require a macro. To that end, you might use a content control with a unique Style applied to it for the data input and a ContentControlOnExit macro to update the custom document property.

  • Form Properties vs. Document Properties

    I've noticed that values entered in LiveCycle Designer's "form properties" do not get carried over to Adobe Reader's "document properties." How can I accomplish this?

    Have you gotten any response on this yet? I have the same issues and I need the properties to be set!

  • Getting Multiple Shipping Document sets for multiple deliveies

    Hi,
    I have a trip with multiple deliveries. After ship confirming the trip from a Trips tab, the reports in shipping document set printing multiple times one each for a delivery.
    How can I get the shipping document set to be submitted once per trip?
    Thank you,
    Prashanth

    Hi,
    For your requirement, here is a solution like this:
    1.Create 3 custom Document content types inherit the built-in Document content type;
    2.Create 3 custom Document Set content types inherit the built-in Document Set content type;
    3.In the “Document Set settings” page of each custom Document Set content type, remove the “Document” content type from the “Allowed Content Types”;
    4.Now we can create a Document Library and add the 3 custom Document Set content types into it.
    5.Remove the Document content from the “Content Types” in the “Document Library Settings” page.
    Here is how it works like in my environment:
    In "Document Library Settings" page:
