Getting files into idvd

ok i have this dvd of a music video made at an all night party...not copyrighted but there are 2 and i want them into dvd i'm making in idvd but i don't know how to do that
i know how to rip them with mac the ripper or save them from disk utilitly into a .dmg .cdr and .iso file but from there i can't get them into idvd
help please???
btw i don't wanna spend any money
thanks

if i understand your question correctly you already have two iDvd's /Dvd's (non commercial and not copy protected) that you would like to use the material from in yet another or third iDvd but you do not have any of the original project files (either from iDvd nor from iMovie).
is this correct? if so I'd recommend this handy app:
http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.products.htm
BUT if you do not want to pay any money whatsoever for the software that will convert your existing dvd's to a QT file/s that can be used again within i-Dvd or iMovie .....then use:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
Hope this helps but if not just come on back.

    After burning a successful DVD in iDVD out of FCPX, how can I see the settings it used?
    So I finally burned a DVD out of a Apple Pro Res file into iDVD in PAL format. My question now is how can I find out what the exact burn properties were so that I can apply the same burn properties to a project in Compressor 4?
    Is it possible to see what iDVD did?

    I don't know any way you can interrogate iDVD to reveal settings to the extent that you can in a Compressor project. What you could do is open up the show's VOB in MPEG STreamclip, go to File and Reveal Stream Information; that will at least give you some rudimentary info like average bit rate. Perhaps someone, with more iDVD experience, can chime in here.
    The broader question is why use Compressor at all if your current workflow is doing the job to your satisfaction?
    The value of Compressor is that it gives you control over the many parameters that affect size quality.  and playability. The Compressor presets can give you a starting point for DVD delivery, Web, etc. From those presets, people typically experiment by adjusting the parameters until they get the desired results for their specific show. It's a little bit science and a little bit art. After experimenting, you may be able to get slightly better quality for the project you've successfully burned in iDVD by using Compressor and something likeToast…or maybe not.
    Good luck.

  • Can I import wmv files into iDVD?

    I have a client who just handed me some windows media files. Can I import those into iDVD without converting them?
    Cheers.
    Tom

    Hi
    It needs to be converted.
    .wmv
    iMovie is by concept meant to work with miniDV camcorders . . any other 'imports' need a conversion or are not supported... a quick solution would be purchasing a plug-in from www.flip4mac.com, 49$, which allows the conversion of .wmv (a PC format) into something useful for iM (dv-stream) ...
    or, ask the emailer to send it in some other codec .. mpg4 for example .. which will be converted by iM 'out-of-the-box' ...  and, to work with iM, the video should fulfill a few standards .. 720x480 pixel resolution, 30 frames per second ... otherwise, you will experience a dramatic loss of quality ..

  • Can't get iMovie into iDVD

    I have made a movie using iMovie. It has photo's from iPhoto, music from my iTunes and video from a video camera. It is a complete home movie about 22 mins long. It includes transitions between photos for the slide show, transitions between film clips, title pages, back round music and, music tagged to specific clips. I can't get it to go to iDVD. When I select Share>iDVD all I get is movie clips. No music, no photos, no transitions. It plays perfectly in iMovie. How do I get this into a DVD???

    Perhaps you can also answer a possibly related question. I have created a video similar to the one described above in iMovie. I didn't have any problem importing to iDVD, but when I burned it to a DVD the stills that used the Ken Burns effect came out terrible. They were fine when I played the iMovie version.
    I have done this twice before without this problem. Looking at the Project Info on the three different projects, all fields are the same except the under Asset. On the two good DVD projects it reads "large.m4v", but the new video reads "movie".
    Do you have any idea what I might have done differently or how I can correct this issue? Thanks.

  • Import files into iDVD from iMovie OR export files from iMovie to iDVD?

    I've been told it is better to import iMovie projects into iDVD (within iDVD) rather than exporting from iMovie to iDVD within iMovie. I was told that iDVD does a better job of rendering things than iMovie. Is this true because this is not the instructions given in the iMovie tutorial.

    Not sure what advice you have been given and how you have interpreted it.
    You are of course referring to im6 here since you can't drag projects from im08 to iDVD.
    I don't make many DVD's anymore and may well be wrong here but I'm not aware that dragging an im6 project to iDVD is any different than using share/iDVD and I'm wondering if the advice relates to exporting from im6 and then importing the exported movie into iDVD which is indeed a different workflow.

  • Getting file into an array of byte..

    Hi guys,
    i first thank you for all the help you've given in my precedent posts.
    Now i've to ask you a question.
    I need to convert some lines of a txt file(obtained from an excel table) into an array of byte in the best possible manner.
    My file can have a various number of rows and columns.
    With this code
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(myFile.getInputStream()));
    String line = null;
            while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) {
                    line = line.replace (',', '.');
                    StringTokenizer st = new StringTokenizer(line);
                    numberOfNumericColumns = (st.countTokens()-1);
                    col=(numberOfNumericColumns+1);I read the file, i change , with . and line to line i calculate the number of value(that have to be the same,i do the control for showing exception if necessary).
    Now i know from my file what are the number of values in a row(columns of my old excel table).
    I have to convert this file into an array of byte.
    How can i do it?
    Suppose we have only 3 lines, the first line is ever only string,the others lines have a string and other double values.....
    nome giuseppe carmine paolo
    valerio 23.3 34.3 43.3
    paolo 21.2 34.5 12.2
    each value is separated from another one by one or more whitespaces..
    The most important thing is that in a second moment i have to read this array of byte and showing its original content,so i have to put in the array some different value and different line symbol delimiter.
    Can you help me giving me some idea or code?(please be clear,i'm inexpert of java...)
    Thanks very much,i need your help

    thanks for your reply...
    my file has about 50000 rows..........and i have to develop an application that allows the upload of about 6000/7000 files....
    so i have to optimize everythings......i want to use whitespace to separate different value and ;different line
    so in my array of bytes i want
    nome(converted in byte) whitespace(in byte) giuseppe (in byte) whitespace(in byte)carmine(in byte) whitespace(in byte) paolo (in byte) ;(in byte);
    valerio(in byte) whitespace(in byte) 23.3 (in byte) whitespace(in byte) 34.3 (in byte) whitespace(in byte)43.3 (in byte) ;(in byte) etc.....So i should have an array of byte lower than the array of byte obtained converting each line as a string into bytes.......
    do you understand what's my problem?
    How can i create an array of byte without fixing its initial dimension that is able to grows up for each line read?
    Excuse for my poor english..
    In the past i've used a vector to temporary store the data while reading the file and at the end i copied the vector in the array of byte but when i do upload in my application i had java heap size error.
    So someone has suggested me to improve my storing method and i've decided to eliminate vector....
    can you help me......????
    please....i need your help..

  • How to get edited VOB files into iDVD?

    Hello all,
    This is actually a bunch of questions, not all of which are related to iDVD, but I didn't really know where else to post this. I have just ripped a DVD with MacTheRipper and have a bunch of VOB files in a VIDEO_TS folder that I would like to edit slightly and burn back to a DVD without any loss of quality if possible. I have that MPEG-2 component thingy, and I can open the VOB files in MPEG Streamclip, and even trim the movie and save as a new VOB, all within Streamclip.
    1. First of all, is this newly created VOB compatible with iDVD, or do I need to export it to some other format?
    2. If it's not compatible, which other format is best, and is there a way to convert it without loss of quality?
    3. If no loss of quality is possible, what settings would get me minimum loss of quality?
    4. If all else fails, is the newly created VOB compatible with any other DVD burning software, and what is the best one in your opinion?
    Sorry for all the questions. I've learned from reading so many forums that one must be very specific indeed to get any kind of good advice. Thank you all in advance!

    If your first paragraph is correct, then replacing the old VOB files with the new (edited) ones in the TS-folder will do the trick, if you have Toast. Just drag that TS folder to the Toast window and burn - job done.
    If you don't you will have to go the long way: use MPEG Streamclip to convert the VOB files to DV and import into iMovie, then edit and send to iDVD.
    Loss of quality? Possibly.

  • Getting Avi files into iDVD

    Is it possible.
    The files open in quicktime Pro. But it just has a white screen all the way through.
    They open and play fine in VLC.
    Is there a program I can use to convert to a compatiable format.
    Cheers

    You'll need:
    MPEG Streamclip 1.5.1 (free) and the MPEG-2 Playback Component ($20 from Apple).

  • Can't drag and drop iMovie files into iDVD project

    I created a bunch of iMovie projects, went through the share/media browser process. They show up as icons in iDVD but when I try to drag and drop them, I don't get the green plus sign and they don't drop. I've tried both widescreen and standard settings, in both iMovie and iDVD, matching them up - still won't drop.

    What's the path to the file? Is it on an external drive? A network drive? A mapped drive? Can you try copying the file to your desktop and dragging it from there?
    It's on an external e-sata drive. No problem accessing the file from within Premiere.  Just can't drop it into Encoder. Doesn't work if I drag to desktop and try from there either.
    Are you dragging it in from Windows Explorer? If not, then what app are you dragging from?
    Yes, from Explorer.
    Are you dragging the actual clip or a shortcut to it?
    Actual clip.
    Have you tried importing via File > Add Source...? [Double-clicking a blank spot in the Queue gets you to the same Open dialog.]
    Yep, tried that.  No luck.  Double clicking and adding didn't work either.
    Definitely only seems to be QT files.  Have tried H264 files from 7D camera and ProRes files.  No luck.  Files that are MP4 work fine.

  • Dropping in PDF files into iDVD? How?

    I have a client who would like to put some PDF files as well as video into a DVD I am making for here. What is the best way to throw some PDF's in? I would like a button that would point to those.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated?
    Best,
    Tom

    Hi Tom,
    You can include .pdf files (and any other kinds of files) in the DVD-ROM area of a DVD. Look under the Advanced menu for Edit DVD-ROM Contents. These won't display on a TV, but are accessible by a computer. To inform the viewer about this content, I mention it on the DVD jacket, and create a sub-menu that briefly describes what's in the DVD-ROM area. I suppose you could take a screenshot of the pdf and drop it into the background area of the sub-menu to give the TV viewer a small taste of what's in the computer-accessible area.

    Audiobooks have to be in M4B (protected AAC) format to appear in the audiobooks category on an iPod. If you convert them to AAC from MP3 using iTunes, find the converted version (which will have the extension .m4a) and rename it .m4b (if you can't see the extension in My Computer in XP, you'll need to select "Tools," "Folder Options," "View," then uncheck the option that says "Hide extensions for known file types"). Then drag it to your iPod in iTunes. Keep in mind, transcoding it to AAC means a possible (although likely negligible) quality loss -- I listen to audiobooks in the car, so I don't really notice a difference (or much of one.)
