Getting JNDI name from application module configuration

How to programmatically get JNDI name of the data source, specified in the bc4j.xcfg, using application module object or oracle.jbo.client.Configuration, or whatever?

im sorry for interupting this thread. i have a question for Vinay. Actually im watching this thread bcoz i too have the same question.
Vinay, what imports is to be added for this.None, if you are using ADFbc.
The method is available in your ApplicationModuleImpl (i.e. the Java Impl for your AM).
Here's the 11.1.1.5 javadoc:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24001_01/apirefs.1111/e10653/oracle/jbo/client/remote/ApplicationModuleImpl.html#getSession__
im using Jdev 11.1.1.5.0 the statement is : System.out.println("Data Source Name"+getSession().getEnvironment().get("JDBCDataSource"));
Its showing getSession() method not found.
Any help???Where did you write that statement? It should work in the AMImpl as the javadoc shows....

  • Application Module Configuration Properties file?

    Hi,
    Any body knows where could i find the Application Module Configuration Properties file on the disk.
    (This properties on wizard are appeared when we right click on application module and select configuration...)

    Curt,
    Thanks for your direction. That link is vary useful to be familiar with the AM configuration setting.
    Frankly, during last few months I was extremely busy to develop JSP pages. And didnt study much about AM But now that we are close to move the application to production I faced unacceptable problems. Recently I started to read your/and other folks treads to get more familiar with AM.
    Here is some of the problem i faced, which i think are AM related:
    1-The application speed goes down as soon as more than 2-3 browser(user) work with the same application(most probably I have memory leak).
    2-Some times I received following error when tried to load a JSP page in the application:
    Error Message: oracle.jbo.PCollException: JBO-28020: Passivation error on collection TXN, node id -1 void
    3-I faced following error when I tried to work with two applications in one or even two browsers:
    Error Message: JBO 30004: An application module that was not checked out was checked in...
    So, please let me know your idea on those and/or any point that I have to check.
    By the way, I am still on JDev9i-Beta and I accepted all default setting at the time I created AM . but the state of each page explicitly defined at the page level(mostly stateful, but on some of the pages i didn't mentioned the state which by default is stateless).
    Thanks.

  • PL/SQL from Application Module instead of Using VO/EO - Violating Standard?

    Hi,
    I have seen product code which Use PL/SQL APIs for committing data (Creation of Records in Table) from Application Module. There is no BC4J (VO/EO) used in this data route.
    Is there any coding standard (document) which says such cases are against Standards.I know there is one Standard saying PL/SQL Based VO is dicouraged in Oracle Apps.
    Thanks
    Joseph

    Vikram,
    Performance depends on the way you are going to make use of pl/sql code. Suppose if you are using pl/sql just for final insert/update with other validations bound to it through a single call, that's fine. But in case you have other multiple calls to pl/sql blocks also for fetching data for display purpose, that's where standard VO's will be more efficient reducing the number of trip for pl/sql calls. So use it only when it is the last way and you need to handle multiple validations with complex data structure.
    As for locking, yes, you might have to take care of locking handling scenario if such a situation happens. But again it depends on what's your business logic and how is your data being processed.

  • BUG: Can't create BC4J Application Module Configurations

    Hello,
    I'm using JDev 9.0.3.1 with Win2K and WinXP. There seems to be a bug in the BC4J Application Module Configuration Manager:
    It seems to be impossible to create a new BC4J Application Module Configuration with the Configuration Manager of a BC4J Application Module. I can copy an existing AM configuration, but I can not rename it. Clicking on the OK Button in the Configuration Manager simply does nothing.
    A work around seems to be to open bc4j.xcfg in any text editor, copy an AppModuleConfig element, save xcfg, in JDev remove the project form the workspace, readd it to the workspace (some caching issue of jdev?). Then the new AM config is there and can be modified.
    In JDev 9.0.3 the Config Manager seems to work fine.
    Regards
    Stefan

    The bug is mentioned in metalink bug 2849146.

  • Fix for getting track names from GraceNote.

    Finally found a Windows fix for getting iTunes to get track names from GraceNote (see below). It works!!!
    Fixing iTunes CDDB lookup - more details
    Since Apple’s forums don’t seem to support permalinks, the hint I previously posted about fixing iTunes for Windows’ connection to CDDB isn’t complete. Here’s how to reestablish connection to CDDB if your track lookups start failing:
    Quit iTunes for Windows.
    In Internet Explorer, go to Tools | Internet Options, click on the Connections tab, and click on the LAN Settings button.
    In the dialog that follows, uncheck the checkbox about using a proxy. Hit OK, then OK again.
    Open RegEdit and look for the following key: HKEYLOCALUSER\Software\CDDB\Control\2.0. Delete this key.
    Open iTunes and insert the CD. iTunes should now be able to connect to CDDB again—at least, until it forgets again later...
    If necessary, reenable your proxy settings.

  • Call VO method from application module

    Hi Experts.
    In my case I have created VO and inside implementation class custom method: filterResultsByGroup()
    code:
    public class VO_Business_AreaImpl extends ViewObjectImpl implements VO_Business_Area {
    public VO_Business_AreaImpl() {
    public void filterResultsByGroup() {
    System.out.println("hello");
    now... I would like to call filterResultsByGroup() method from Application Module Imp class:
    code:
    public class AppModuleImpl extends ApplicationModuleImpl implements AppModule {
    public AppModuleImpl() {
    public VO_Business_AreaImpl getVO_Business_Area1() {
    return (VO_Business_AreaImpl)findViewObject("VO_Business_Area1");
    public void RunGroupFilter(){
    ViewObjectImpl bussinesArea;
    bussinesArea = this.getVO_Business_Area1();
    ViewCriteria vc = bussinesArea.getViewCriteria("filterResultsByGroup();");
    bussinesArea.applyViewCriteria(vc);
    bussinesArea.executeQuery();
    but it doesn't work. Anyone knows how to call this method?
    Best Regards.

    you code should be like
    VO_Business_AreaImpl bussinesArea;

  • How to get value in backing bean from application module

    Hi all.. I'm new in jdeveloper and adf..
    I need to use value from backing bean and use that value in application module.
    But I don't know how to get it.
    Do you a have any solution?

    suppose you have myMethod(String argumentName1,String argumentName2) in your Application Module
    then to access a method binding from a managed bean, use the following code,
      BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();
      BindingContainer bindings = bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
      OperationBinding operationBinding =
           bindings.getOperationBinding("name_of_method_binding");
      //Here you can pass the parameters value to the AM method

  • BC4J: How get Connection from Application Module

    I've written a custom method for my Application Module for using by the client tier. In this method I call a JPUblisher created class, that accesses a PL/SQL procedure. For this JPublisher created class I need a connection context. The class calls DefaultContext.getDefaultContext() but that seems to be null.
    How can I get the current Connection of the Application Module, so that I can create a DefaultContext?
    Unfortunately Transaction has no getConnection method.
    Thanks,
    Robert

    We don't make the Connection directly available because in some sense it's a rope on which you can hang yourself if you are not careful. Since BC4J AppModules are most often used from a pool, and you might be using connection pooling in addition to application module pooling, in general it is not safe to get hold of the raw JDBC connection and "hang onto it".
    If you make careful use to always get the current JDBC connection before you use it, and not try to cache it, then you should be ok. Often, you can avoid the need to get the raw JDBC connection by calling getDBTransaction().createPreparedStatement(...) or the analogous createCallableStatement() or createStatement() that are also on the DBTransaction interface.
    Here is a little function you can add to your application module impl class to retrieve the Connection:
      private Connection getCurrentConnection() {
        Statement st = null;
        try {
          st = getDBTransaction().createStatement(0);
          return st.getConnection();
        catch (SQLException s) {
          s.printStackTrace();
          return null;
        finally {
          if (st != null) try { st.close(); } catch (SQLException s2) {}
      }It basically creates a (dummy) statement, gets the current connection from the statement, then closes the statement.
    I tried using this in a custom method in an AppModuleImpl class that invoked a JPublisher-create package-wrapper class like this:
      public void callStoredProc() {
        try {
          // Empservice is package wrapper class created by JPublisher
          Empservice e = new Empservice(getCurrentConnection());
          BigDecimal sal = e.lookupsalary(new BigDecimal(7369));
          System.out.println(sal);
        catch (SQLException s) {
          s.printStackTrace();
      }and it works for me.

  • Specify JNDI Name For EJB Module

    Hi folks, please I need to know how I can specify the Jndi name for an ejb module I am creating in netbeans 5.0, to be accessed by a web application.
    If this can be done using the sun java system application server 9 admin consle (just as for JDBC Resources), i'll also like to know how.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Jay. I went through the links, it seems that if you have the JNDI name set in the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml, there is no need to set the same in the weblogic admin console. I am using ejb 2.x version. Particularly if you get the WLInitialContextFactory in your code , then there is no need to set the JNDI name in the JNDI tree in weblogic admin console.
    Like:-
    Context ctx = null;
    java.sql.Connection conn = null;
    Hashtable<String,String> ht = new Hashtable<String,String>();
    ht.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY,"weblogic.jndi.WLInitialContextFactory");
    ht.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL,"t3://localhost:7001");
    This will take care of JNDI tree, hence there is no need to set the JNDI name explictly in the weblogic admin console.
    Please correct me if i am wrong. Whether for datasource also whether we can do the same, by setting the resource-ref with datasource in the ejb-jar.xml and not set anything in weblogic admin console? Thanks.

  • Application Module Configuration

    Hello,
    I'm trying to deploy an ADF application in which I'm using the model MVC. I want to put the Model in a different AS than VC. The jdeveloper documentation says that I can create a remote configuration by creating a new configuration selecting "Remote" in the Middle Tier Server Type section, but in that section just appears "Local". Do you know if there is some other think that I should do?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    <Q>Assuming 2 and 3, which takes presidence the Enterprise Manager's DSA settings or the connection pool setting on the Application module?</Q>
    <A>The DSA settings. BC4J's connection pool settings only apply if the BC4J connection pool is being used. The BC4J connection pool is not used if a JNDI JDBC datasource has been defined in the ApplicationModule configuration. In 9.0.3 the BC4J Configuration editor tries to make this clearer by disabling the BC4J connection pool parameters when a JNDI JDBC datasource has been defined.
    The jbo.doconnectionpooling parameter name is a bit misleading. This is actually an ApplicationPool parameter which determines whether or not ApplicationModule connections should be released upon ApplicationModule release. It does not actually determine if JDBC connections are cached -- connection caching is left to the datasource implementation.
    </A>
    <Q>Assuming 1 and 3 how do I predict which settings DSA's connection pool will be using at run time?</Q>
    <A>DSA's connection pool will always be using the settings defined in the DataSource definition. BC4J's connection pool settings will not have an effect upon the DSA connection pool implementation -- BC4J's connection pool settings are relevant to the BC4J connection pool implementation only.</A>
    Hope this helps.

  • Getting jndi name for jms queue via jmx?

    All,
    I'm trying to write a utility that will do a 9.2-style message export against 8.1 I think I have it all figured out except that I don't know how to get the jndi name of a queue or topic via jmx. I'm using jmx to find queues and subscriptions that have messages waiting, then trying to connect to them to siphon off the messages. I can't just browse jndi for any queue I find because I also want to access the durable subscriptions, for which I need the client and subscriptions ids. Is there a way to map from the jms destination runtime mbean to the jndi name? The getDestination() method isn't supported (throws an exception.)
    thanks

    Hi John,
    You can get destination JNDI names by looking up their value in the JMX configuration mbeans rather than the runtime mbeans. The client-id and subscription-name are available on the JMSDurableSubscriberRuntime mbean.

    Tom
