Getting started: making popup notifications that align to desktop corner?

Hello,
Using Flash CS3, I'm wondering how I would get started generating windows that align to the corner of the screen. I want to creat a small app that gets xml updates from basecamphq.com, and brings them to my attention.
Getting and parsing the data using Flash is not a problem. I'm just not sure how I would create a notification bubble/window/something that stays on top of other windows, and possibly even multiply and stack these notifications.
Any rough ideas on how I would get started? Any feedback would be greatly appriciated.

Look at alwaysOnTop for the main app.
Also AIR positions are relative to the desktop so 0,0 is teh top left corner. You can easily get the window dimensions as well as possible mulitple monitor configurations - checkout the screens app:

You cannot stop it from popping up.
it will continue every few minutes until its installed.
just keep using the back button near right side of home button.

How do I get rid of printer notifications that don't work?

I keep getting a notification from Apple about updating my printer driver. ("Would you like to download and install software for “Samsung SCX-4623 Series”?"). When I click OK it searches for the driver but says it can't find it, and that I should try again later.
As soon as I close out the dialogue it pops up again, "Would you like to download and install software for “Samsung SCX-4623 Series”?" I have to go through the same process again.
I even went to Samsung's site and downloaded the driver again. Soon after the Apple dialogue appeared.
How do I get rid of this dialogue? It's driving me nuts!

Have you tried removing and reinstalling your printer using System Preferences?
If not, open System Preferences (under the Apple logo in the menu on the upper left), and click "Print & Scan".
Then highlight your printer and use the minus sign in the lower left to remove it.
Then use the adjacent plus sign to add it again.

How do I get started creating an app that retrieves photos from Flickr and creates a mosaic?

I'm working to develop a wallpaper application for desktops, tablets & smartphones. What I need to do is the following:
1) Get a little user input (this will be a web or app front end).
2) Retrieve N (50-200) random photos from a particular Flickr set (handled on a Mac server interfacing with Flickr).
3) The hard part... assemble the photos into a mosaic that matches the dimensions of the client application. Again, this is done on a Mac server, using either available Mac software & AppleScript or standard Unix tools available or installable on a Mac server.
4) Send the output photo back to the web or app client.
Steps 1 & 4 are where the user will interface, and I figure I'll get to that part later. What I'd like to do is start figuring out what I need to complete tasks 2 & 3. I'll probably poke around Flickr for task 2 help. Task 3 is purely handled on the Mac server. I have XCode installed and experience with HTML and writing very simple software in Perl, Fortran & a little AppleScript, but zero experience in XCode.

My MacBook (08) just started making a noise that sounds like a fan...

It's like the computer is working really hard to function. Programs are also running slowly. I checked the Auto Update, and everything is up-to-date. Is it on its last legs?

I installed the IOS 8.0.2 patch and it has sped up the email etc but I no longer get an on-icon notification that new emails have arrived or new messages.

Mail used to be shown as a number on the email icon and the same with imessage and so on. These have all stopped working and i have to manually open the client to check if there is email (no, it is not set to manual update but to every 15 minutes). I guess another broken part of the wonderful IOS 8xx

What do you mean, "No it didn't?" I just meant that's how things are working (or not working) on my end. I've done some Googling, and it seems like this is an issue for lots of people, and it's not always consistent either.

ITunes 9 - Getting Started video won't play

iTunes 9 installation was smoothly and quickly, however:
While the "Welcome to iTunes" startup window opens properly but"Getting Started with iTunes 9" movie won't fully load or play.
This first tutorial movie on the "Welcome" list only plays the first couple of minutes and stops. Close Window and/or Quit/Restart iTunes relaunches "Welcome" and "Getting Started" but the movie still won't play.
I also have the latest version of QuickTime (v7.6.4, downloaded this morning) installed under Mac OS 10.5.8.

Immediately after installing iTunes 9.0 and Opening iTunes, the 'Getting Started' folder popped up in front of the iTunes window. I wanted to 'look around' at iTunes first, so Closed the Getting Started window. Now that I'm ready to watch those videos, I can no longer FIND that folder or the videos. Anyone know what happens to them once they've been Closed? Thanks...

ORACLESERVICESID is not getting started

Hi Support Team,
Here iam in desperate need of an instant support from your side. We have installed SAP BI 7.0 on Windows 2003 server with oracle 10g as a database.My Server is not getting started as i found that my ORACLESERVICESID is not in started mode.When iam trying to start the sevice manually it gives an error saying that " Error 1053 : The service did not respond to the start or control request in timeley fashion".
When iam trying to connect to the database, it gives me an error " ERROR:
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error." .
I have checked the notes no : 441518.We tried re-creating the service again but that too cannot make the server up.
Kindly assist us in relsoving this issue as it is of Very high priority here.

I am having a similar problem. I get one of two errors: "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (null)" OR "We could not complete your purchase INSTALL_ERROR_DISTRIBUTION_SIGNED_BY_APPLE".
I am having this trouble on a brand new MacBook Pro running OS X 10.7.1. My firewall is off and no virus software is installed.
I can download and update apps on a different computer using OS X 10.6.8 just fine.
Any other recommendations?

How to remove "Get started with your site"

I am in the process of automating the creation of a site collection using PowerShell. Everything works fine but I would like to remove or hide the "Get started with your site" that we see the first time we open a site. Deactivating the Getting
started feature will not remove it.

For other readers, here's the full script needed:

It's easier to remove the web part directly from the page, while it's in edit mode, but then the scripted method also works when automation is needed.

Where do I find the cc getting started Katies.mulib File ?

I have downloaded the sample files to practice, Extracted them to my desktop. But this is what shows up
I am probably missing something.... As you can see I took the Zip. Put it in its own folder and then just selected, Extract Files Here and yet I dont see a CC Getting Started Katies.mulib file that is used for importing items to the library.
Help would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Also logo-interior.png and logo-landing.png...in fact I don't think that zip is the right one at all.
It appears to be from a different (older?) tutorial. At least, the .muse "step" files don't have the site pictured here: https://helpx.adobe.com/muse/how-to/create-website.html

Try running a repair on the library. Hold the command and option keys down while starting Aperture, this will open the repair window. Select Repair Library.

Installed Mountain Lion, still getting a notification that an update is available.

Have already installed the Mountain Lion update, but upon initial log in I am still receiving a notification that an update is available the version the update states is available is the version of OSX already installed on the system.
Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

Re-indexing spotlight didn't work, after re-indexing, I shut down, re-started and got the same thing, I took a few pictures to illustrate exactly what is happening:
After logging in I have this icon (with the arrow pointing to it)
It asks to update to Mountain Lion 1.8.2
The problem is, I have already upgraded to 1.8.2
It will not go away, even after disabling notifications and re-indexing spotlight - it's like the computer is stuck thinking that the upgrade has not bee applied.

I want to disable the facebook notifications that pop up when I start firefox.

I added the Facebook add-on. When I did that I started getting these Facebook notifications that pop up on the home page. I want to disable them.
