Getting the client ip in a web service call.

Hi!
I found a very old post here and tried and looked around some myself in the documentation also, and finally managed to put together some code to do this,
and had problems finding it when I googled for it, so I figured I'd post an example
for others. I'm working under tomcat.
The thing to do is to implement the ServiceLifecycle interface, like so:

  • Trying to get the input parameter of a web service fxn based on table value

    Hello--
    I am new to ADF and Jdev 11g (I am a forms developer). I had created a web service from a pl/sql stored db package. I can successfully execute a function with an input parameter from ADF Faces.
    Instead of the input parameter being enterable by the user, I would like it to be based on a selected ADF table column value. How would I correlate the selected row column value as the function input parameter?
    I played with an ADF output text based on the ADF table column with the PartialTriggers value set to the ADF table...which updates the output text based on the column selected. Do I use some sort of partial trigger on the input parameter?
    From a forms point of view, I am looking for the "Copy Value from Item" property :)

    But if your table is bound to a ViewObject, it will be easier to get the current selection.
    Supose your table is bound to iterator1.

    I understand that you are having a problem with the scan to email feature on your Photosmart 7520.
    I would like to help.
    Touch the ePrint icon on your printers display.
    If you get the same server connection error, Try setting a manual DNS.
    The following link is to a post by happytohelp01.
    It contains instructions for setting a manual DNS.
    Efax 7510 still won't work after turning off/on ePrint several times
    If you do not get a server connection, then I would remove Web Services and enable again.
    Warning:  If you remove web services the printer will lose its custom ePrint address.
    This address will be lost forever. It will also wipe out any scan to email settings.
    To remove Web Services, touch the ePrint icon.
    Go into settings and select Remove Web Services.
    You will be brought back to the printers main menu.
    Touch the ePrint icon again and enable the feature.
    Once you get the printers claim code (used to customise the ePrint address) you can setup scan to email again.
    If you encounter any issues or have additional questions please let me know.

  • Get client ip address from Web Service hosted on OAS 10.1.2

    Hi,
    Can anyone advice how to get the client IP from a web service (java) hosted on Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.
    The below code works if the web service is hosted on Tomcat.

    This code is causes built errors on the OAS 10.1.2 since it needs Axis and many other Jars. I tried to insert the jars needed but unfortunately when i was able to compile it returned a java.lang.NullPointerException.
    Is there a way to get the IP address of the client that calls this web service ?
    Or is there a way to read the SOAP request maybe i can retrieve the client IP from it.

  • Initiating BPM Process Instances from External Web Service Call

    I'm attempting to update the HelloWorld example so that I can create an instance of the process from an External Web Services Call rather than via the Workspace. Our current SOA Architecture is configured so that all BPM instances are managed through a .NET SmartClient via the Service Bus and the use of PAPI W/S and so I'm wishing to recreate this capability in the new BPM.
    I understand the replacement for PAPI W/S is Human Workflow so I've therefore updated and republished the HelloWorld Example with an Exposed 'TaskService' Service for the Human Task within the BPM Process.
    I've then attempted to reference the TaskService through our existing BPM, and have been able to import a number of generic WSDL's as follows:

    When I examine the available operations for these generic services, there are quite a lot, each of which have a fairly complex schema. I believe I should be using the TaskService: InitiateTask Operation to create an instance of my BPM Process but my questions are:
    - Is the above the correct method of interacting with BPM Instances from an external system such as the Service Bus?
    - Does anyone have any examples of a basic XML payload that would initiate a process instance?

    I created an process with a message start event and can call it from an external web service call. I can also pass input arguments and map those to process data objects. However I can not find how to return data as response to the external web service call as e.g. the process instance id.
    Is it possible to this?

    Some function that would return the same as

    I followed your advice with a slight modification as the name of the parameter is Machine instead of IP.
    /XMII/PropertyAccessServlet?mode=Retrieve&PropName=Machine&Content-Type=text/xml
    I accessed this system parameter by using the string above as the URL of an XML Query action block from within my existing BSL transactions.  This aligns better with our current way of exposing the our MII transactions as Web Services.
    Using the XAcute query as proposed by Udayan also works but this would have meant exposing a new interface ( XAcute Query instead of the transaction default Web Service via the /Runner URL).

    In Kerberos when requesting services, the client sends the following two messages to the TGS: A composed message of the Ticket-Granting Ticket and the ID of the requested serviceand authenticator (which is composed of the client ID and the timestamp), all encrypted using the client/TGS session key.
    Then upon receiving these messages the TGS sends the followings to the client:
    A: Client-to-server ticket (which includes the client ID, client network address, validity period and Client/server session key) encrypted using the service's secret key.
    B: Client/server session key encrypted with the client/TGS session key.
    Now I'm wondering how to obtain A and B throught the kerberos login in GSS-API . I have the following code that I use to request a kerberized service but it returns only a KerberosTicket in PrivateCredentialsSet for the Subject. A sessionKey can also be obtained form this KerberosTicket ! Which session key is this ? the session key B described above? and Where to get the Client-to-server ticket (A) described above ?

  • Making Web Service calls from a Form in the WorkSpace

    I am getting conflicting information about this, so I hope someone here could clarify it. TIA.
    This is what I want to do:
    after a form is displayed/launched in the WorkSpace,
    when the user Tabs out of a field (Exit event) on the form,
    I want to make a Web Service call from the form,
    get the result from the WebService,
    and use the Result to populate another field on the form.
    I know for certain that this works if I Reader-Extend the form,
    and I set the JavaScript at the Exit event (to execute WebService call)
    as "Run At Client".
    The question is:
    can I make the WebService calls without Reader-Extending the form???
    I have been told that, yes you can,
    but *only if* you let the JavaScript "Run At Server".
    I tried that, but it caused the Reader to crash.
    Some other people told me,
    no you can not,
    even if you "Run At Server", the form still needs to be Reader-Extended,
    when using it in the WorkSpace environment.
    So, what is the truth? can someon tell me?
    Can I make WebServers calls from the Server-side at all?
    Do I really need to Reader-Extend the form even if calling it from server side?
    What exactly is it SUPPOSED to work?

    yes, thank you both. I got the fix from Adobe Tech Support last week. It's working.
    The fix I got included a rather complex looking "Submit Service" though. Makes me wonder how a regular user would know that he needs to write such a Submit Service?? and even if he knows that he needs a special Submit Service, would he know how to write it??? I found no documentation for this type of things either.
    Shouldn't this solution be published somewhere in Adobe's website? Dev Lab perhaps?

  • Problems using the Java API inside a Web Service

    Hi,
    after I've built a standalone Java RMI client, using the API, I wanted to use the same code in a Web Service I've built and deployed in tomcat (jwsdp-1.3). But i ran into a few problems..
    - although I have the exact same code in both programs, the one in the web service simply blocks when I initiate the Locator class (see above...);
    - all the .jar's that I use in the client are deployed in the WEB-IF/lib of the web service directory on tomcat;
    - no exceptions are thrown in tomcat, so i don't know what's going on;
    Is there any specific configuration for the API to run on tomcat?
    Could it be that the .jar's needed by the Locator class may have some kind of conflict with the ones in tomcat?

  • 401 not auth from generated oracle client stub to MS web service

    Sorry if this is posted elsewhere, but I've scoured the web and otn and have not had any real luck yet. I took a wsdl from a Microsoft webservice and generated the web service proxy in jdev-10.1.3.3. I added a few lines to set the endpoint, username, and password. I compiled to a jar and was able to successfully contact the MS ws from the command-line using both 1) java 1.5 on my desktop with the jdeveloper jars in the classpath, and 2) java 1.5 on our 10.1.3.3 development appserver. However, when I take that exact client code and deploy it to the same 10.1.3.3 appserver, I get back a 401 unauthorized.
    Packet traces show that in all (3) cases, the client is calling the ws using NTLM authentication (I would have expected HTTP Basic Authentication) I'm at a loss to understand why this doesn't work. I even started looking into seeing if I could force the code to use Basic Auth, but there did not seem to be any ability in the generated client stub to do so. There was a server-side certificate that I needed to import, but that seemed fine in the (2) command-line interface cases above after I used keytool to import the cert into the cacerts keystore of both my local desktop's and the OAS appservers's cacerts.
    I generated the webservice client using both the WSDL-->right-click-->Generate Web Service Proxy in jdev, and via command line using wsa.jar -genProxy, but I get the same generated code and the same result.
    Questions: 1) Is there a way to force Basic Auth from an Oracle generated client?
    2) Does anyone have a step-by-step for generating a Basic-Auth client for a Microsoft webservice?

    I did a packet trace of the good case (command-line on the 10.1.3.3 appsvr) vs. the bad case (deployed in the 10.1.3.3 appsvr), and it looks like there are (3) lines of base64 characters for the 'Authorization: NTLM xxxxxx' header in the good case, and only (2) lines of base64 characters for the same header option in the bad case. Also, the good case has an 'NTLM Response' field of 24 hex characters and the bad case has an empty 'NTLM Response' field. This really smells like a bug, but I'm not 100% sure. Does anyone have a way to tell?
    Has anybody been able to generate a web service client in Oracle that talks to a Microsoft webservice using Basic Authentication?
