Getting the JDK started,

I can't get HelloWorld to run. I'm in a Win32 environment. I've adjusted autoexec.bat to the following:
PATH=C:\jdk1.1.8\bin
to get to the executables javac.exe and java.exe. and
SET CLASSPATH=C:\jdk1.1.8\lib\classes.zip
to get to the classes. I know the path is correct because I can type javac and java anywhere on the hard drive and they run. But I still get the error
"Can't find class HelloWorld" when I type
java HelloWorld.
When I type "javac -classpath path HelloWorld.java", I get an error that points to the class HelloWorld like the compiler is looking for that class somewhere else.
Please help! I'm a really experienced programmer just deciding to get into Java. I feel like there's something small I don't know. You can color me an idiot; just help me get pass this problem.
Thanx in advance.

1. Determine if you have a CLASSPATH environment variable defined under the Win98 system. It is not needed but if you do have it defined make sure that the current directory represented by a dot (.) is part of the CLASSPATH. For example:
set CLASSPATH=.;c:\jdk1.2.2\jre\lib\rt.jar;
2. java HelloWorld

I am experiencing some major problems with my MacBook Pro. I have had some issues with it turning on/off at random times, but today, when starting, I get the grey start-up screen and a recovery bar. After filling in approx 1/4 of the way, the machine dies. After starting it in recovery mode, it will not allow me to download OS X Mavericks- it says the disk is locked. Any ideas? I do not have a back-up and do not want to erase everything before I have explored my options. Help?

try forcing internet recover, hold 3 keys - command, option, r - you should see a spinning globe
most people will tell you to do both pram and smc resets (google) and if you still have issues, either clean install (easy) or troubleshoot (hard)

  • I keep getting the blue start up screen. Am I low on ram?

I keep getting the blue start up screen. Am I low on ram?

    hey
i am unsure what is causing your blue screen but it won't be because you are low on RAM,
RAM is seperate to your hard drive space and you will always have the same amount of RAM unless you upgrade it,  if it was a problem with the amount of ram you had you would of always had those problems if that makes sence.
try booting off the Disk that came with your mac,  or the recovery partition if you are on lion,  then run a disk repair from there to see if that helps.

Sounds like the Activation Lock is still set to the previous owner. If you are unable to get that Apple ID and password that iPhone is totally useless to you.
Take it back to the shop and demand your money back because they sold it to under false pretenses.

I can't do that since I do nothing with Windows.
It sounds like it was hacked to run XP and then makes it not run OS X now.
Only thing I can suggest is to repartition the hard drive to a single HFS+, GUID partition and see if that allows you to install OS X.

  • HT3964 I have an old Power PC iMac.  When I get the blue start up screen, I get a beach ball and then the computer quits

I have an old iMac (PPC).  When I now start up, I get to the blue screen, I get the beach ball, then the whole computer
    shuts down, including the power.

Timesharing is back.  It's called cloud computing.
    1) Try a safe boot.
Shutdown your machine.  Hold down the shift key.  Poweron.  Wait awhile; wait awhile while you harddrive
         is being checked.
         http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455
    2) Another way to correct filesystem problems is into single use mode.
This page will tell you how to get into single user mode.
         http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1492
Basically, you hold down the command + s key then  powering on your machine. The command key
has a little apple symbol on the lower left. It is between the alt/option key and the space bar.
Here is a way of using an optical drive off of another mac.
You could try target disk mode if you have another mac around.

  • I cannot get the mirroring started with the iPad2.

Sorry if I repost this question again but I could not find it and no answer to my problem.
Apple TV is on the latest 4.4.1 load. Was updated via USB cable and iTunes. Airplay is activated.
Apple TV is connected via HDMI to an Onkyo 5.1 surround receiver which again is connected via HDMI cable to the TV. Internet via Wifi to the router.
I can watch TV episodes offered via the menu on AppleTV without any problem.
However the main reason we bought apple TV is the mirroring feature.
First we had some issues to get the airplay button to show up. With toggling the language it finally worked. We also have the apple TV menu and the mirroring button.
But when we select the mirroring button the mirroring does not start.
    Nothing happens on the TV.
Any idea what this could be?
    Thanks
    Stefan

  • Getting the JDK version for an shared library

    Hi,
Given is an shared library for Windows (*.dll) or Solaris (*.so).
These libraries are included for native calls by using JNI.
Is it possible to identify the version of the JDK which was used for creating this libraries?
    TIA,

Is it possible to identify the version of the JDK which was used for creating this libraries? No. Not unless you explicitly add something in yourself.

  • I keep getting the Firefox start page with Google search. How do I get my homepage back?

When I click the Mozilla Firefox icon, instead of my homepage I get a starter page with Google search. How can I get rid of the starter page and get my homepage back?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Started about a week and a half ago.

    Hello Linda.
I fear your problem may be deeper than your homepage gone missing, but you can change your homepage easily by going into Tools > Options > General and entering the address you want in the "Home Page" field.
I should warn you, however, that the version of Firefox you are using at the moment is outdated and is no longer supported. Please install the latest version for maximum speed, security and functionality. It's completely free, as always. You can get it through Firefox update service (Help > Check for updates...) or at www.getfirefox.com

  • How to get the week start date from ISO week number

    Hi,
I have a table with the following stucture
    Year    error    Week1     week2   week3 ......week53
    2012       error1     2           4         2             1
2012       error2    3          0        1                 1I was hoping to get something like select year, error, week1||'Week start date which is a monday of that week' , week2||'Week start date, again monday',....week53 from table
    Any suggestions please?
    Thanks,
    Sun

    Hi, Sun,
To see when week N started, add 7 * (N - 1) days to the beginning of the year. (By definition, the beginning of the ISO year is the start of week 1 of the ISO year.)
To see when week 22 of the current year started:
    SELECT  TRUNC (SYSDATE, 'IYYY') + (7 * (22 - 1))
    FROM    dual
I hope this answers your question.
If not, post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) for all the tables involved, and the results you want from that data.
Explain, using specific examples, how you get those results from that data.
Always say what version of Oracle you're using.

  • I am getting a service start and stop alert while doing the windows server updates.

    HI
I am getting a service start and stop alert while doing the windows server updates. Services are wmiApSrv , WPDBusEnum. Can you please help me to under stand why i am getting the service start and stop alert.
    Thanks & Regards
    Abhilash K Joy

    Hi,
The WMI Performance Adapter (wmiApSrv) service provides performance library information from Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) providers to clients on the network. This service only runs when Performance Data Helper is activated.
This service is installed by default and its startup type is Manual. When started in the default configuration it will log on using the Local System account.
You can try troubleshooting the issue using Clean Boot to check if the issue is related to third-party software.

  • Can't get the install CD's to boot.

    Dear all,
I've seen topics like this but not quite the same.
I have a Macbook Pro without anny OS on it. I'm trying to get the original version of OS X installed (10.5.2). It however refuses to boot from the CD. Actualy it boots..and restarts.. thats it. The CD i'm using is an original instalation CD. It was most likely not sold with this exact system but with the same model (its a company laptop and we have purchased about 10 at the same time all with their own CD's)
When the macbook starts up it just asks for a bootable cd.
Windows XP will boot/install normaly but we need OS X on the machine (next to windows).
The CD is fine. Windws can read it and so can the mac when booting with the "option" button pressed. But select it will just cause the mac to reboot again.
Annyone have anny ideas how to get the Instalation started?
    Kind regards,
    Marc

You either need the OS installer disk DVD that came with the MBP or a retail version with an OS version equal or higher than the OS that originally came with the MBP. Apparently the DVD you are using is not the correct one.
